  1. The fighting system has been bulked up quite a bit, with approx. 150 combinations ranging from hand to hand to weapons.

The look of the game is also solid. Creepy catacomb textures and eerie lighting effects crank up the spooky mood of the game. Character models are also solid, with Buffy and crew actually looking a lot like their TV counterparts.

Not only does the game look better than its predecessor but it outperforms it in nearly every way: the puzzles are even more intelligent..., the fighting is on par and benefits from multiple characters, the difficulty scale has been skillfully balanced. [Sept 2003, p.70]
  4. Splintered wooden furniture doubles as vampire vaporizing shivs to expand on your already wide variety of exterminating capabilities.

As fun as the original Buffy game on Xbox, but not quite as tight. The AI is a bit too forgiving at times turning the game into more of a button-masher than it needs to be.

It's exactly what you'd expect in a licensed third-person action/adventure. But that's the problem. We liked the additional characters and multiplayer options, but the gameplay and graphics are uninspired.

The main one being the introduction of more playable characters, which the first title suffered from badly. The introduction of a new developer has improved the graphics and gameplay. However, the controls still aren't very fluid. But it is pleasant to see the introduction of a significant number of new fighting combos. All in all, if you ignore the sometimes poor one-liners this is a great game with pleasant cliches and it will please not only fans but most gaming fans who want to kick some ass. Expand

I'm a huge Buffy fan, and I really wanted to love this game! I liked the first one, and I hoped this would be an improvement... Oh dear... It's kinda like a bunch of students looked at the original game, and tried to copy it's style.... Based on this effort, I'd give them a D-. Sure, it's got elements of the first game. Similar weapons, combo moves, etc... But it's like they didn't quite get round to finishing it. For example, in the 1st game, if you were getting pummelled to death, you could hit the inventory button (which paused the gameplay), heal yourself, then carry one the fight. Now? No inventory screen. Only the in game menu. And trying this cycle left and right to find you medipacks whilst running away from an enemy cause your health is almost at zero it such a pain! Also means you can't combine the weapons like you could on the original game. And, yes, as has been mentioned, the cameras are terrible! The other issue with Chaos Bleeds is a problem which a lot of games suffer today... Lazy, unimaginative programming. Bunch of programmers sat around thinking "Humm.... this games a bit short." "Well, we could quit eating doughnuts and make a make some more levels" say one guy. "I know!" pipes up another programmer, "We'll remove the ability to save during a level! That means they'll have to play it through over and over, making the game longer!" Programers, please note, if your game is a bit short, REMOVING THE ABLITY TO SAVE AT 'CONTINUE POINTS' DOES NOT A GAME A LONGER, BETTER EXPERIENCE! It just serves to infuriate the player! I will play 3/4 of the way through a level, and I have to go out, so I either loose half an hours playing, or have to leave the console on all day... Although in this case, it has just struck me that I could be doing the Vivendi guys an injustice... They might just not have reached the chapter on 'Saving in games' in their 'Junior Big Book of Computer Programming'... Although, I suspect not. Sadly for 'Buffy: Chaos Bleeds', like many sequels, not a patch on the original... A disappointing experience. Expand

This game has more puzzles and step by step solving. The first game was more straightforward. One advantage to this game is you get a chance to play as some of the other characters- 6 in all! But, some of them fight really bad. Blocking requires jumping down to the white button which is inconvenient. All in all I agree with Alex in rent don't buy!
