  1. Definitely a thinkers game. And it's something we don't have a whole lot of these days.
  2. Wrath's only problems are small but important: Loading unfortunately breaks up the game's pacing, the fighting engine could be deeper, and there's no online mode. [Feb 2004, p.90]

A solid title. The AI can sometimes be frustratingly stubborn, and the battles can take a long, long time to complete, but there's plenty to like here.
  4. The game's not ideal on every level, but it's good enough on all of them so that it should provide an entertaining experience and a decent amount of replay value for those who enjoy equal parts methodical strategy and button-mashing mayhem.

Each game also consists of doing the same thing over and over again, and while this provides the perfect even playing field when skirmishing with a friend, it gets monotonous alone.

If either half of Wrath Unleashed had been more fully formed, the game would have been easy to recommend, but as it stands, half a fighting game and half a strategy game does not make a whole game. [Mar 2004, p.64]
  7. What I find most surprising about the game is the distinct lack of replay value.

I think it's a unique concept blending strategy and action that works well on a console. It can be difficult tho......................................

It's not bad, but like a lot of games that mix genres this way, it excels at neither. With enough skill, small guys can deal decent damage and help take down the larger ones in combat. Health remaining from battles carries over to the strategy board, so healing and capturing buildings play a key role. Would be cool for multiplayer online. Expand

Well, I think I'll start with the bad things. It is not a unique idea because I've played a game that is exactly he same idea Well, I think I'll start with the bad things. It is not a unique idea because I've played a game that is exactly he same idea called Unholy War. There should be some way to jump or evade better than strafing. I think they could have made the charactors a bit better and a way to balance out VS mode so it's not unfair when a sentinal attackes a god. To be able to bring your characters back to life makes battle take even longer and the temple points idea is a bit lame. There are alot of other little tweks that could be made but now I'l say the good things. It has a good principle, The limeted charactrs are good ideas with interesting moves, arena mode (the mode where you just fight) is good fun, alot of people I know enjoyed it and I think the unit's points and value idea evens the fact that some characters are better than others out. Overall I think it has all the elements for a good game but it doesnt have everything as good as it could, thats why I gave it a 7/10. Expand

Hmm... How do I put this? This one was pretty disappointing. The idea seems original (turn-based strategy mixed with one-on-one combat), but Hmm... How do I put this? This one was pretty disappointing. The idea seems original (turn-based strategy mixed with one-on-one combat), but is executed quite badly. The fighting element is pretty much a nightmare, and ends up requiring little skill ("my guy's bigger, my guy wins, and vice-versa"). The strategy element doesn't do a lot to enhance the gameplay either. The game as a whole is mildly amusing, but I really can't recommend it to anyone unless they've been dying for a game that combines these genres. I am, however, happy to see another war/strategy game available for the XBox, albeit a bad one. Who knows; this could set a dangerous precedent. They desperately need to start releasing some quality RTSes for this console! Expand
