That's deep gameplay.
-
Wrath's only problems are small but important: Loading unfortunately breaks up the game's pacing, the fighting engine could be deeper, and there's no online mode.
-
The game is definitely a bit slower-paced than a lot of console gamers are used to, and the learning curve is also a bit steeper than normal, but give it some time and you'll find yourself engrossed with the deep gameplay and crisp visuals.
-
PSM MagazineA shallow mix of strategy and slapping, cursed by long loading times, WU falters a bit but staggers back by keeping the core tenets of its lineage intact. [Mar 2004, p.39]
-
Its aspects of action, while moderately engaging, are wholly unbalanced; in addition, the elements of strategy are watered-down for ease of play.
-
BoomtownWhile it may be a fun little jaunt with the appearance of a clever strategy/action game, if you attempt to play it that way you soon find out that it is fundamentally broken. A lesson from history, one hopes.
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineToo simple for strategy fans and too complex for fighting fans. The occasionally interesting creature design and accompanying animation can't save this one from its cliched premise, uninteresting gameplay, and interminable load times. [Mar 2004, p.103]
