Mar 5, 2013The first DMC paid DLC brings us into Vergil's dark world, delving into his story. The DLC is quite short, and lacks the action of the original. Even though the fans of the saga can be interested in knowing the hidden background of Dante's twin brother, it strikes us as a bit overpriced.

Mar 11, 2013Vergil's Downfall is worth playing through if you enjoyed DmC at all, and you could do a lot worse with $9.

Mar 5, 2013The tragic story of Vergil and the comic-book way it is told, as well as the ability to play as Vergil himself, make these few short chapters more than worth getting. This content may not be quite as good as the original game, but it’s a must-have for any fan of the Devil May Cry series.

Mar 5, 2013Vergil's Downfall has the misfortune of coming right after DmC: this DLC is by no means a bad add-on, yet it's not quite on par with the surprisingly high standards of the original game by Ninja Theory. If you feel like fighting some more, give it a go, but just don't expect Vergil to be as satisfying and appealing as Dante.

Official PlayStation Magazine BeneluxApr 22, 2013The cutscenes consist of 2D-animations, a sign that Ninja Theory didn't put everything they had into this DLC. But to be fair: playing with Vergil feels like a completely new experience. [April 2013, p.88]

Mar 13, 2013Vergil's Downfall, while unable to reach it's full potential, isn't terrible. Vergil's unique combat mechanics are fun and engaging, but everything else just feels too lazily slapped together to ignore.
-
Mar 13, 2013In the end, it’s worth playing through if you got it free from a pre-order deal when DmC was purchased. But I honestly don’t think it’s worth the $10 asking price.
