It’s not the game that gets a second chance on PC, it’s us, the players, to notice it. If we don’t, that’s on us. The world has no more excuses to not give The Wonderful 101 a shot. [07/2020, p.77]

Yakuza 0 is a diamond that no gamer should ignore irrespective of whether they’re drawn to Japanese games or not. Grand Theft Auto has a much larger budget, but Yakuza has a much bigger heart. [03/2017, p.50]

The protagonist doesn’t have a believable motivation, while the enemies, the environments and the gameplay mechanics lack variety. Other than that Death’s Door is a really decent action RPG – it’s pretty, technically polished, rich in optional content, and welcoming of inexperienced players. [10/2021, p.68]

An old Mario Kart enhanced with a couple of details like gliding, swimming and customizing your vehicle. It seems Nintendo is running in circles chasing its own tail. [January 2012, p.75]

A charming game that aged gracefully, really great in co-op and perfect for kids. Who would have thought that fighting ladybugs and digging out lost fruits can be so exciting! [01/2021, p.39]

The misery of Jan Dolski and the disaster of the expedition he was part of is a really good starting point for a game that stands on script, management and exploration. The Alters uses its strengths over skillfully by appropriately developing many gameplay mechanics.

I just couldn’t get away from this simple platformer – it gave me a clinical just-one-more-attempt syndrome. [CD-Action 09/2013, p.69]

A pleasant and hard (in a fair way) platformer, but I think authors should have left out the enemies and the means to fight them, because they introduce unwanted chaos and the sense of losing full control over the character. [CD-Action 06/2013, p.78]

Not having played Yakuza 6 yet, at first I was disappointed with the Dragon engine, which offers only painful 30 frames per second. New tech has its advantages though, as you may enter most of shops, restaurants etc. without annoying loading, which is a significant step forward from the first Kiwami, as are the physics engine, animation system and enhanced control over combat. Overall it is a very good game, but not as brilliant as Yakuza 0, especially in terms of the story. [10/2018, p.70]

FM 2014 unnecessarily tries to be two games in one. Instead of investing in the intentionally limited Classic mode, the developer should work on increasing the role of the assistants in the primary mode. Changes in the tactics system are sensible, but would be more valuable if the game did a better job at explaining what all the options mean and what the consequences of using them are. What disappointed me in Omega Collection was the music – barely adequate at best, boring at worst. Other than that Wipeout is back with its unmatched sensation of speed. [08/2017, p.67]

Insomniac Games did not just remake this classic platformer. They boldly bombarded it with ideas and then rebuilt it pixel by pixel using methods unknown 13 years ago. The result is magnificent. [06/2016, p.50]

Football Manager 2021 introduces some features and improvements that make it a bit more realistic and enjoyable, but it is hard for me to recommend buying it if you own the last year’s edition. As a whole, FM2020 might not be as good as its successor, but it is not much different in the most important aspect – both games are ridiculously addictive. [01/2021, p.52]

Kirby might be overshadowed by other Nintendo franchises but in terms of quality it’s right up there with the best of them. Forgotten Land embodies the essence of Nintendo’s creativity, friendliness and charm, while its level design is so good the rest of the industry should take notes.

The Witch Queen is one of the best Destiny 2 expansions and a perfect example of how to evolve an online game. It proves that Bungie has a consistent vision and while the developers are not afraid of changes, they introduce them cautiously and cleverly, letting the game remain what it’s meant to be – a pretty much perfect looter-shooter.

The idea to fuse Tetris with a music game was a good one, but Chime Sharp failed to escape repetitiveness, so it’s not suitable for longer sessions. It’s a good way to stretch your brain every now and then though. [05/2017, p.55]

If you haven’t played the game yet, fish out some cashish from your pocket and fix that serious oversight immediately. The work done by Beamdog on the remaster does not justify the purchase on its own, but Planescape: Torment is still the best RPG game ever created. [06/2017, p.46]

The story mode (this year’s biggest selling point) is not perfect, but I was surprised how much I was invested in this idealized adventure every little boy dreams of while playing football with his pals. None other mode in FIFA or PES provides such experience. In all other departments – licenses, visuals, sound, atmosphere – the new FIFA is as strong as ever. [12/2016, p.67]
