All of the great things about the game, the music, the cutesy indie art design, the concept, and the humor…all overshadowed by a difficulty curve so steep that Lance Armstrong couldn’t bike up it if he was in his blood-doping addled prime.

A simple thing like a shield pick up could have made this game more accessible to a larger audience. Forgoing that, just a checkpoint when you’ve completed a task so you don’t have to repeat them all every time you die as it gets monotonous. It has the same core details as that from the PSP version however it falls flat by not having the scare factor that was present for blood drive. I’m enjoying this game a lot more than I thought I would but it’s not without its faults, the combat can and does get repetitive very, very quickly and the lack of narration can make the reading tedious, some people would argue that the narration would ruin the atmosphere of the game but there is never anything wrong with offering people a choice because if you’re like me and you came home from a long day at work the last thing you want to do is read paragraphs after paragraphs of digital text.

Generally speaking, this is probably one of the better strategy games in this sort of time period you could get. There are a few flaws, and it’s certainly far from perfect, but even that helps to make the game endearing, and it’s just deep enough that it doesn’t get too dull too quickly.
