The Last of Us Part 2 shows us one thing, that the video games industry (unlike Cinema which is moving forward at a much slower pace) has a lot more unexplored potential. Part 2 raised the standards of video games so much, and in almost every respect, including gameplay, visuals, AI, and the [insane] amount of attention to detail, that you would wonder how this much progress on 7-year-old hardware is even possible, and the good news is that this is not the cap, and we can even have better titles in the very bright future of this industry. Just imagine what Naughty Dog (and other elite studios) can do with the next generation of hardware.

Hogwarts Legacy is, without a doubt, the lost heaven for Harry Potter fans. Its incredible art design matched with a solid story, polished gameplay, and magical environments easily make it one of the main contenders for the awards season and with the sales nothing but guaranteed, we can expect to see it becoming a big franchise in the future.

One of the main differences between Indie and AAA titles is that when it come to indie games, developers have more freedom to try new and ambitious ideas, as Ori and the Will of the Wisps did, and the result is not only a game that feels as good and fresh as its predecessor, but also improved in almost every aspect.

Persona 5 Royal is a complete JRPG game, and almost every single element that you want in a JRPG is on offer here. The story is simple yet engaging, and the depth of characters is marvelous. Gameplay wise, the royal edition is even better than the original Persona 5, and if you enjoyed Persona 5, you'll have even more fun here.

Remaking a popular cult classic is never easy, but remaking one of the most innovative survival horror games—one that introduced new ways of scaring players with modern standards—while staying true to its original spirit is even harder. The reveal trailer for the Silent Hill 2 Remake didn’t receive much love from fans, but Bloober Team has done a marvelous job of creating a fantastic modern remake of an all-time classic. While it may not be as shocking or revolutionary as the original, it’s still a must-play for anyone who loves video games.

Not only for RPG fans, but for everybody else, Original Sin 2 is one of the best choices of 2018.

Crusader Kings 3 is one of the best strategy titles in recent years, hands down. The gameplay is extremely deep and the relationship between the characters and some neat RPG elements really help the game shine. The game is not flawless though, as the game's UI may be too complicated for some players and there is a slight lack of content, but nevertheless it's a solid strategy experience that can entertain you for many, many hours.

The three pillars of Street Fighter 6 are accessibility, online features and a huge amount of content at the time of release. If you are a fighting fan, you are in for a treat this year as we still have Mortal Kombat 1 and possibly Tekken 8 to look forward to, although it would be extremely difficult for the other two to stand up to SF6.
