Unleashed's control is among the most frustrating of any racing game I've played in a long time. Maybe it's just the track layout, or maybe it's me, but I found my Porsche smacking straight into a wall or spinning out of control about every time I blinked.

Just enough to satisfy the average player without including statistical and gameplay options that would have stretched the release date and production costs out to an unacceptable level.

The biggest gripe is the missions aren't very long or difficult, even on the hardest setting. Enemies always appear in fixed locations, so players will be able to breeze through levels for the most part until the very end.

An ambitious adventure game of epic proportions, especially from the perspective of a roach.

It's a shame more levels weren't built around these activities or the mazes, since the platform action gets tedious.

With improved animation, a more robust career, and a better choice of modes, it could have easily been a knockout instead of a contender.

It is a huge game with a fairly engrossing story, but thanks in part to a few design flaws, it's hard to keep playing all the way to the end.

Ultimately, the story makes the game, albeit with interspersed and occasionally annoying action sequences. But each combat has a purpose, which makes gameplay challenging and rewarding.

Far from being a fatal flaw, however, this lack of definition is sporadically encountered and can be viewed as a minor annoyance and is, in fact, somewhat offset by impressive designs of larger non-human units, such as ships or flying machines.

AI is also frustratingly poor.

Though rich with a variety of units and resources, European Wars simply doesn’t have the polish needed to put it on the frontlines in the genre.

Despite the problems, players will likely find themselves coming back to the game, because it is just as entertaining as it is frustrating.

There is considerable room for improvement, but Pirates is a hearty choice for those who'd rather focus on attacking than adventuring.

Fatal Frame certainly has its share of scary moments without relying on blood or graphic violence, but the battle system is so hokey and repetitive that the game's potential is left underexposed.
