Probably one of the best looking games on the Xbox, no questions asked.

The attention to detail - from the enemy AI and verbal exchanges to visual clues like dust, ash and fog (I even found physics on old tires rolling off of exploded debris) - is impeccable, and the team play aspects, especially in a one-player campaign, equal maximum immersion. [July 2003, p.78]
  3. Lots of weapons for lots of shooting for shooter fans who love to shoot.
  4. The four-player coop mode is particularly notable, considering so few titles incorporate so many players with such a high degree of complexity. However, there is a lack of polish to certain aspects which hold it back from being a legendary experience.
  5. A well-done game, filled with dangerous opponents and plenty of targets to shoot at, but it also doesn't fulfill its potential.
  6. The main issue is that the emphasis on action means that the tactical side often falls by the wayside; ultimately you’ll find yourself sticking to a power character such as Tex or Brutus and just wade in guns blaring to destroy everything.

The elite unit's top secret missions are as one-dimensional and repetitive as their foes. And the four commandos...utter lines that would have sounded cheesy even on a '70s cop show. [18 July 2003, p.83]

When I was maybe 10-11 years old, I played this game with friends to death. Logged probably 500+ hours on this beast and would play it again in a heartbeat. I really need to buy an original Xbox again, regret selling it a lot. Expand

While Halo is the undisputed king of first person shooters Brute Force may just be the best third person shooter ever. The main campaign While Halo is the undisputed king of first person shooters Brute Force may just be the best third person shooter ever. The main campaign starts you out playing as Tex or a robotic soldier for players 2-4 if you are playing co-op mode. As you play through the campaign you will unlock new squad members Brutus, Hawk and Flint and the players can take control of them. The co-op mode is the game's best feature. You can play with as many as 4 players on co-op and use teamwork to complete the games many missions. Each squad mate has a special ability which makes them ideal for certain situations. For example Tex can carry one gun in each hand and Hawk can turn invisible. The only thing that kept Brute Force from getting a perfect 10 is it's lack of vs mode options. You can play with up to 8 players using system link but the only vs options are deathmatch and squad deathmatch. If you like shooters then Brute Force is a great game to get. However if you want the best get Halo. Expand
