Legacy of Kain: Ascendance is a strange game that, honestly, I’ll remember more for its controversial story than for what it brought to the table in terms of gameplay. It’s clear the title serves as a bridge to try and revive the franchise, and adapting the events of the Dead Shall Rise comic is an interesting choice to explore Raziel's long-awaited vampiric past. However, as a game, it feels underwhelming. It features a 2D action-platforming mix that is far too simple and suffers from repetitive environments, even with the addition of three playable characters. It’s not a bad game, but it reminds me of those classic 90s movie tie-ins: attractive because of the license, but lacking any real inspiration in their design.

Super Meat Boy 3D is surprisingly consistent with the 2010 release, with the leap to 3D being its major new feature. While this causes it to lose some of its original brilliance, it still delivers a solid experience. The control precision is insane, the levels are incredibly varied, and it still manages to make us die 100 times without feeling frustrated. Some levels suffer from camera issues and the final stretch might be less engaging, but even so, it’s one of the best platformers I’ve played in a long time. [Recommended]

A chapter that gives to the fan exactly what the fan wants; at least, theoretically.

Darwin's Paradox is one of those games that, without reinventing the wheel, knows exactly how to play its cards right. The platforming manages to be challenging without feeling suffocating, the puzzles are simple enough that you never get frustrated, and even exploring the world for collectibles takes both the jumping and the puzzles a step further than what you typically experience throughout the rest of the adventure. Greedfall: The Dying World is one of those games that demands patience and a lot of willpower on your part. Spiders has tried to bite off more than they could chew, creating a title with an incredibly slow start and tactical combat that never quite clicked with me. I miss the 'immersive sim' identity of the first game; here, they’ve opted for something more conventional, coupled with optimization issues and bugs that can really break the immersion. Yet, despite all that, I can't deny that the world is well-built. It has that classic RPG charm, reminiscent of Dragon Age: Origins, where you can get lost in its cities, talk to your companions, and soak in its political nuances.

Disciples Domination has all the ingredients to be a great strategy RPG. The problem is that its combat becomes slow and tedious far too early.

Screamer is a bold and different arcade racer. Its driving system is original, demanding, and fun, making the races a true spectacle. However, the story doesn’t live up to its ambition, and the game modes didn’t fully convince me. [Recommended]

Divisive as it might be, Marathon is an incredibly polished product that ultimately brings the genre into maturity thanks to its ideally sized maps, flexible matchmaking, deep and satisfying combat and (perhaps most importantly) rich endgame system full of both short term and long term goals for the whole season. Game has you building up some quality loadouts, then wasting it all on unfortunate runs and not giving a damn about it since you'll be back in stock in no time. Great gameplay loop overall... if you have the patience to learn it. [Recommended]

I considered Super Mario Bros. Wonder to be a perfect game, right up until I played the Nintendo Switch 2 version. It comes highly recommended, though specifically as a cooperative experience to enjoy with friends. [Recommended]

Honestly, I don't fully understand what the developers of 1348 Ex Voto were trying to achieve with their game. It seems more concerned with telling a story—one that ultimately doesn't work—than with creating a fun game. Visually, it's very well done, but the numerous minor graphical glitches, its dizzying camera work, and its clunky, unpolished gameplay mean it doesn't stand out in that regard either. The progression systems are mere window dressing with minimal impact on gameplay, and its length is excessively short, even for the genre it belongs to. Except for the most curious, it’s not a game worthy of much attention. [No recommended]

Gear.Club Unlimited 3 is an arcade racing game with good ideas, attractive environments, and an interesting progression system built around managing your club. However, poor AI and a very weak technical performance on Nintendo Switch 2 ultimately drag the experience down.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is quite enjoyable and brings some much-needed new ideas to the genre. I loved the gunplay, the open-world maps and the vehicle system. However, the whole game is dragged down by its lack of content and repetitiveness. It’s a shame, as the fundamentals to build something truly great are indeed there.

A good moment to discover Fatal Frame saga. [Recommended]

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is an excellent game overall. Its slightly more mature approach to storytelling is a good fit for a shonen-esque product, but its most brilliant feats belong in the gameplay side. Exploration gets more interesting by the minute, and combat has so much identity and depth it's barely akin to any other modern JRPG. [Recommended]

WWE 2K26 manages to maintain excellence, even if it does so by assuming that it will be a familiar experience with no surprises. [Recommended]

Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf is a solid sequel and a more complete experience than the original. It expands on its mechanics, offers greater variety, and builds a richer world, but its conservative approach ultimately prevents it from making the decisive leap forward. [Recommended]

Pokémon Pokopia is what happens when you let other creatives breathe new life into an increasingly worn-out formula. It's fresh, innovative and addictive, yet without losing the essence of what has been drawing millions of fans for years — and along the way, it manages to pull in those of us who got left behind. Entropy Effect X offers, through a powerful license, an explosive and fun mix of rogue dynamics with fighting game elements. [Recommended]

A good metroidvania with a great world design. Exploring it feels rewarding, but a very simple combat style and irregular art keep him away from Olympus.

Another amazing old school adventure game with a great puzzle design, a beautiful design and interesting story. [Recommended]

The real (and well done) Little Nightmare 3, but too familiar. Despite that, you need to play it for the art style, its monsters and a few memorable terror moments. [Recommended]

Resident Evil Requiem is two games in one, and both are among the best you're going to see in 2026. It perfectly combines the horror of Resident Evil 7 with the action of Resident Evil 4. [Recommended]

It does not change nothing in the genre but its a superb metroidvania charged with feelings. [Recommended]

GameExcite not only shows its love for Star Trek: Voyager with this game, but also its respect for it, offering an outstanding survival and exploration experience, just like the hardships the crew had to endure during its seven-year journey home. It's not a perfect game; there are elements of its interface and mechanics that could be improved, and it can make you want to tear your hair out at times, but the feeling you'll have when you finish it will be just as emotional, if not more so, than what the ship's crew felt when they returned to Earth. Of all the Star Trek games that have been released, this one is undoubtedly among the best.

It's not the best in its genre, but if you are looking for a fun stealth game, Styx may be the one for you.

Suda51 strikes again. It's not perfect, but if you love Suda51 you will get what you are expecting.

Crisol: Theater of Idols stands out for its bold ideas and strong identity, even when its limitations become apparent. It may lack variety or ambition, but Vermila’s debut is a coherent and honest shooter that leaves a lasting impression. [Recommended]
