2-Bit Cowboy has a lot of great ideas, but they just never quite pay off.

Asphalt 9: Legends is the best of the series so far. While it may lean a little more toward the casual side of arcade racing, it's still a ton of fun and gorgeous, to boot.

Complaints aside, this is a great-looking game with a compelling storyline, good voice acting and intriguing puzzles. It may not be Monkey Island, but it certainly points the way for iPhone/iPad developers to embrace the best parts of old-school game design.

Battle prehistoric creatures and reunite warriors in Cavemania; a chest-beating, arrow-slinging, tribal adventure packaged in a match-3 strategy puzzle.

This one's a definite battery-drainer and well worth the price. Not counting the possibility of spending more money on credits, of course.

Once players are comfortable with the mechanics, Inertia: Escape Velocity becomes an absolute joy.

Of course, this is a free movie tie-in game, but it is a darn good one.

It's got style, presentation, and plenty of replayability to keep people hooked for as long as they might need the distraction.

Simple to look at and learn, Dandelions: Chain of Seeds is an enjoyable and relaxing game about connecting seeds.

The only thing wrong with Silverfish DX is that there’s already better and more varied versions of the same game out there. Specifically, Geometry Wars—a game that precedes Silverfish by nearly a decade—provides a similar experience in a more robust package. Silverfish DX just strips too many things out of a traditional twin-stick shooter and doesn’t add enough new stuff back to it to make itself stand out.

A totalitarian society of bears is only the tip of the iceberg in this throwback brawler.

Within superb in-game graphics, and an upbeat infamous sega-esque soundtrack to boot, Super Monkey Ball 2 is just one of those games you can pick up and play. I highly recommend it!

While the graphics and lighting are top notch, the rest of the game is a fairly generic dual-stick shooter – not that that's a bad thing.

1000 Heroz's daily task mechanic is what really makes this game stand out, and encourages the kind of long-term play that the strongest iOS games have.

You get to discover that firsthand in Super Mega Worm, and you better believe that they may be onto something.

It's going to take a little bit of time for We Rule to get its server issues under control, but this game has become a solid keeper on my iPod. Anyone who has grown accustomed to the freemium platform will find this game to be a solid entry into the genre.

Maybe with a few more level packs under its belt, Munch Time could be a more compelling purchase. For now though, it's only really worth it for those who have exhausted superior games within the genre.

Space Colors is a well-crafted space shooting game that carries plenty of challenge and a twisted sense of humor.

Shaken or stirred, CounterSpy is simply the best stealth action game to sneak its way onto the App Store.

Yet another excellent addition to Kairosoft's release library. It's familiar, but just different enough to feel unique among the rest. There's no reason why fans shouldn't snap this one up immediately, assuming they haven't already.

While I don't see Crap of Defense winning many game of the year awards, I do think that it is a top notch time waster with a style of its own.

Episode 3 isn't the strongest episode thus far with seemingly all the focus placed on plot progression rather than offering clever puzzles. It'll still keep players interested though and has certainly piqued my interest ready to try Episode 4.

While those who fell squarely on the side of Vlambeer in the Ninja Fishing/Radical Fishing debacle will likely be disgusted by Muffin Knight, there's still an original art theme, engrossing RPG elements, and the fun multiplayer as well.

For the most part, the level design is quite quirky and amusing, however. The difficulty is a rather steep curve later on, but it ramps up to it quite nicely to start. Overall, a positive experience, if perhaps one I felt I've had before in many other occasions.

Carmageddon is an older game, and it shows even on a mobile device, but people don't always love old games purely because they're old. Sometimes they love them because they're fun. And despite the slippery controls, this bit of nostalgia is still very, very fun.

Motley Blocks doesn't quite offer that "just one more go" factor, as it's tricky stuff at times, but it is an interesting take on a tried and tested formula. Albeit, available at a rather pricey $2.99.

I’m getting to the point where I think the casual puzzle game genre is getting a little saturated. It seems a new game comes out every week that attempts to become the next Angry Birds. That being said, I don’t think that Be Together will dethrone the top games out there but I do think that it is a worthy addition to the genre. It has some lovable characters and visually-appealing artwork that makes for a friendly game environment for players of all ages.
