The base mechanics of cover-shooting and troop deployment in WarFriends are super fun and satisfying, but they fall apart since the game allows players to purchase significant advantages over others. The design of WarFriends's free-to-play trappings may not be particularly new, or even egregious, but these concepts still do a lot to keep the game from feeling like the amazing game it could have been.- 148Apps

There's really no reason not to check out Father and Son. It's a beautiful, free game that tells a solid story along the way. Go get it, and go visit the Naples Archaeological Museum to get more of it to play if you like it.- 148Apps

Bottom of the 9th is a really cool take on a sports game. It looks and feels almost nothing like most other video game sports, yet it captures the feeling of real sports in ways that a lot of other games don't. This magic is only at its best when playing with others though, and finding people to play Bottom of the 9th with can often feel like more trouble than it's worth.- 148Apps

On the one hand, SOULCALIBUR is a 3D fighting game and has really great graphics, fast action, and a high polygon count. On the other hand, SOULCALIBUR is a 3D fighting game and is a complex game system with complex controls.- 148Apps

Minotaur Rescue is a solid little inertial shooter with plenty of TLC behind it. It can be quite chaotic, but the simple controls and offbeat elements in play make it fun and memorable, and the universal app support with expanded single-device multiplayer options is definitely a plus for iPad owners.- 148Apps

Galaxy on Fire 3 - Manticore is a great-looking shooting gallery with a lot of ways you can grind out progression. If that's what you're into, this game may be for you. If you were looking for a more open-ended space game that felt challenging and deep, you will not find what you're looking for here.- 148Apps

Smash Cops is ludicrous, and I certainly think that in a world where sitting protesters are pepper sprayed, no current police department should ever be allowed to play this game lest they get the wrong idea from playing. The issues can get annoying, but there's still something viscerally entertaining about smashing cars at high speeds.- 148Apps

Bird Zapper manages to be fun in a way that many similar games aren't, and I think that speaks to the attention to detail present here. Bird Zapper feels slick, and it's truly fun to play-even if it isn't the most original game in the App Store, Bird Zapper excels where it counts.- 148Apps

I absolutely adore roller coasters and endless games with simple controls are my favorite diversion; Madcoaster delivers both. But, what separates an instant classic from just another fun play and discard title is all in the details.- 148Apps

Tiny Plane is simple in premise, but less so in execution, making it an ideal choice for endless fans looking for a ramped up challenge, and for those who prefer that their games build replay value based not on tricks, but rather on a compulsion to beat the machine.- 148Apps
