Kings of the Realm offers some handy tweaks, but it's still the familiar format of base building and alliance forming.

Swag and Sorcery can be rewarding, but only if you can put up with its inelegant design.

Offering a familiar type of puzzle, Pixoban has the right idea but is let down by sloppy controls.

Strawberry Shortcake: Berry Rush is a cute if simple Endless Runner, with baking skills that will make you hungry.

When it comes right down to it Dungeon Hunter 2 is too bland, too predictable and too expensive to recommend.

Secret Passages: Hidden Objects is like the classic series of I SPY books, but with a lot more complexity and a storyline.

The graphics and sound fit nicely into the world of Middle Earth. The music is soft and unobtrusive but adds a soothing element to the gameplay. I did notice some lag when scrolling in some portions of the game and it can sometimes take a while to load, but other than that I'd say it performs well.

Casting magic from our finger tips has never been so close. But then again, it isn't always what it's cracked up to be either.

A retro color-matching arcade game where players must capture enemies by filling the screen with the appropriate colors before time runs out completely.

There are some minor puzzles to be seen here, as well as some decisions to be made, but none of it feels enough, not even when a particularly famous huge dinosaur rears its ugly head.

The nice thing about G's Hotdog is that it's well-designed and functions well. Truly, this is not really a bad game so much as it is one that is features a theme and concept that just not all that exciting.

I'd love to give Last Defense of our Time a higher score, but the sloppy bugs make it a hard game to get fully on board with. Get past them and there's a great Missile Command homage with plenty of variety waiting to be enjoyed.

The only drawbacks are that controls and timing take some getting used to and the levels get somewhat repetitive.

Arranger is the kind of game I love based on concept, but not so much based on execution. It's a grand idea with lofty ambitions and deserves praise for trying something new, but it's going to need a lot more polish if it's ever going to be anything more than a quirky one-off.

Jurassic Park: The Game 1 just isn't very exciting despite the subject matter. The story and dialogue just isn't up to the quality of past Telltale Games which is a great disappointment.

Dragon's Lair HD brings the classic arcade game to the iPad in high-resolution glory, but the gameplay is very primitive and unappealing unless you're a longtime fan of the game.

Players can view their high score but there is no real way to share them so it adds little value. Some may perhaps find a kind of vague, mindless sort of fun in playing Bagatelle Pinball HD. Beyond that though, there are many more engaging games in the App Store.

Chillingo's new spatial puzzler serves up a series of mind-blogging experiments. It's just a shame that one won't be playing them for too long.

Despite not really feeling like an Evil Dead game, Endless Nighmare is a sufficiently creepy runner with a good set of hooks to keep driving you forward in it. That said, its perspective makes it pretty hard to play, which is a huge problem for a video game to have.

Given its inevitably repetitive nature, Demons' Score is tough to recommend. It starts out so well but it's not long before it becomes apparent that it's all just too steep a price to persevere at, no matter how uniquely quirky the story might be.
