Technical issues aside, The Amazing Spider-Man is still a very entertaining game. It captures the spirit of being able to swing from building to building admirably and there's a ton of places to explore. It's that rare treat of a fun movie tie in game.

A few tweaks to the familiar format, Angry Birds Stella will appeal to fans, but will also infuriate at times.

I wanted to love this game from the bottom of my heart, I was ready to love it like I was a kid again, but the insistence on cheap challenges leaves me just short of unequivocally loving this.

Though it may be hard to believe, Beeline may have found the perfect way to distill the Ghostbusters experience into iOS game form. The fact that it is completely free and fun to boot makes it an even heartier download recommendation. So, who you gonna call? It should definitely be these guys.

Overall, London 2012 – Official Mobile Game is just alright. I wasn't that impressed and I really expected a lot more out of it since it is the official mobile game. I'd definitely recommend downloading the free version over the premium, but don't expect to be blow away by the gameplay or the graphics.

Quest of Dungeons is a very challenging, procedurally generated RPG that knows exactly how tough it is and revels in it.

Tofu Hunter is a fun if forgettable parody of the hunting genre.

The potential chaos that Colt Express is designed to have you enjoy isn't satisfying when it's just you versus the computer. In its current state though, that's just about the only way you can play the game at all. As a result, Colt Express is a pretty frustrating package.

Angry Birds Blast is a totally decent matching puzzle game that unfortunately gets more and more frustrating the further you get into it. Though the base game has some strong concepts that reward strategy, there's a grind to the game that will likely turn you off unless you're a dedicated matching game player.

If you are a fan of gravity based puzzle titles, you'll certainly get a kick out of Blind World.

It's not a long game but there are two endings at least and the variety of different things you can possess extends longevity.

Stickman BMX has some real biking fun and maintain the key ingredients that made the original a success: addictive gameplay, clean graphics and lots of game. It may be a typical pick-up-and-play game, but one that's kinda hard to put down.

It is fiercely tough at times. Frustratingly so in later levels. Everything else about it is excellent with the hand drawn artwork appealing, the soundtrack worth actually listening to and the unlockable system enticing players to continue.

Baseball Superstars 2013 finds a way to hook players in though bite-sized game sessions, and keep them coming back for inning after inning. This is a worthy successor to the franchise's throne and sure to coax another few million downloads from iOS gamers.

I applaud Meganoid (2017) for its ambition. The roguelike platforming that Spelunky offers feels like a great fit for mobile. Unfortunately though, this game doesn't quite capture the magic of its source material, offering a decent, but sub-optimal, platforming for the kind of game it's trying to be.

It's not Resident Evil or Silent Hill. However, it's still survival horror all the same.

It's a fun Apple Gamecenter-compatible game that trades in tower defense conventions for something more suited to the game's chosen theme. Real care and love for the LOTR franchise can be seen throughout the app, and that translates into a fun experience overall.

Rescue adorable kitties and outrun a giant wall of flame in this free-to-play endless runner.

Daddy Was a Thief is a decent and cute endless platformer, but it never really amounts to more than that.

A sad example of not all platforms being equal, especially when poor touch controls are in the mix.

Those in-app purchases might prove a bit pesky, but Spellfall is a mostly fun Match-3 puzzle game.

This focus on in-app purchases is a little infuriating as no one likes to be encouraged to spend quite so readily, even when playing a free to play game. There's no need to spend this money but the constant reminders will still frustrate. It dampens an otherwise enjoyable title.

This zombie apocalypse sim would be fantastic if it weren't for all the rough edges.

Questionable origins aside, MaXplosion is a relatively decent platforming romp, albeit one marred by repetitive levels and uninspired boss fights, as well as occasionally unresponsive controls.

Has a clever plot and some whimsical characters, but it lacks a lot in the important areas. While $0.99 isn't that much to pay for a game, players do expect some sort of return in the form of challenging gameplay and enough content to distract them for hours. Sadly, Beatdown! doesn't provide much in these two areas that will give players much of an ROI.

It may not be a deadly good time, but it can certainly be a great time sink, pending your bar for frustration is high enough.

The key issue with Random Heroes is that in making the levels longer, Ravenous took out a lot of the replay value by just making the levels completion-based.

Falls more into the good to very good category and less into the holy $#!& realm. The graphics, sound (especially the repetitive hard rock battle track), and controls are all nice, but not unlike the majority of what you see come out the majority of Gameloft's adventure titles.

If you like old school RPG's and don't need flashy 3D effects or mind-numbing puzzles, Inotia 3 is just the game for you. It won't challenge you too much, but you'll be entertained by Inotia 3 far longer than the vast majority of the other games on the platform.

Alpine Crawler World is a fun, remarkable, well-polished feat of gaming gold worthy of a place within your iPhone/iPod Touch's game library. The real-time physics game play, sound and graphics provide an addictive, enjoyable game play experience you'll find hard to put down.

As questionable as things may seem though, Caligo Chaser's individual parts come together to form a great whole.

Piclings doesn't have a lot to meat to it, but it does have a unique concept that works well, and makes for an interesting technological concept. It needs some more work to be a fully-fledged game, but it is a fun curiosity.

The game is perfectly suited for a mobile platform and makes great use of device features.

Wildlings is a nice change of pace. The game can easily suck up copious amounts time, and it becomes addictive to get three stars on every stage. Those that are looking for something a bit whimsical, challenging and pleasing on the eyes and to the ears should definitely give this game a look.

There's a lot to love about Tank Riders. It looks and sounds fantastic, and the idea behind the gameplay is sound; in fact some of the levels are quite tense. It's a shame that the controls always feel a bit too sluggish, because while it doesn't ruin the game, it's a prominent niggle in an otherwise fine game.

A little chugging here and there doesn't keep Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North from being an excellent freemium strategy game. It looks good, it's accessible but still complex and intricate, and there's almost always something to do. Even if that wall upgrade still has a few hours left.

It's hard to knock a $0.99 iOS game for being too short, though. What Clear Vision does, it does extremely. It just doesn't do enough of it. At least not for my liking. Still, I think it more than deserves all the praise it's been getting up and down the App Store.

While Cosmic Bump is at its heart another enjoyable-but-not-classic physics puzzler, it's something that will provide plenty of amusement, especially for those looking for a little more twitch timing in their physics puzzlers.

That touch of class exudes throughout the rest of Hidden Runaway, propelling it above the typical heights of Hidden Object gaming. The story is interesting and charming with the playable elements just as intriguing. It's an all round sterling package.

Last Knight is a fantastic looking game, and could potentially be a bunch of fun if it weren't so unmercifully frustrating. It definitely doesn't need more options, but the ones that are already present need some serious tightening before I'd consider this game to be anything more than a showpiece.

Smash everything in sight in a rage and, well, that's it for this shallow if briefly entertaining smash em up.

Mighty Dungeons might be a relatively bland Roguelike, but it's a fantastic board game.

Blitz Brigade is an enjoyable first-person shooter where players fight online in multiple gameplay modes, taunting their way to victory.

Episode one in a colossal science fiction adventure, Abduction packs in survival horror and RPG-lite elements to build upon a highly immersive storyline.

Gear Jack Black Hole has some interesting ideas that it just never quite executes well enough.

SXPD is ideal for any comic book fan who wishes they could dive into the pages of a high-speed chase.

It's not revolutionary (hohoho), but (R)evolve is a fun game for twitchy players.

Nuns are tougher than you think, as we learn in this action puzzle game that's quite fun.

Super Monkey Ball Bounce is a lot like Peggle, but not quite as good, plus it's littered with freemium based irritants.

Elune Saga is a slightly unremarkable freemium-based RPG, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun.

The basic concepts in OK Golf are sound, but I wish there was more built around it. The game looks great and plays well enough, but once I finished it, I never felt the need to revisit it. Much like a diorama, OK Golf feels like a miniaturized golf experience that looks great, but is ultimately pretty lifeless.

A stealth game with a unique difference, Level 22 is a funny, smart, and enjoyable experience let down slightly by the smallest of flaws.

At the end of the day a portable game is only as fun as the number of times it can be replayed and NFL Flick QB lacks the staying power to justify a $2.99 purchase. While it isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, it is just a bit too much over our salary cap.

Rival Knights is fun and well-crafted, but unreasonable connectivity requirements make it impossible to play on the go.

Overall, Worms 2 is terrific fun.

The situation might be utterly hopeless, but that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun when meeting our doom.

Star Wars: Uprising seems initially cool but turns very samey.

The level of control I have over my racer provides a certain degree of addictive game play and keeps me wanting to play more.

The graphics are a mix of upgrades and seemingly older assets. That there are pixellation issues at all is rather inexcusable for a sequel. The new backgrounds and user interface elements are crisp and clean-looking, while the little brain and distraction icons seem to be the exact same assets from the previous game. This feels a little like being cheated.

Its emphasis on slow-burn cash earning creates a different pace than the titles fans might be more accustomed to, but it's every bit as addictive and charming.

Even with the help of rapper Jay-Z selecting a stellar soundtrack for NBA 2K13, there seems to be a vast gap in between what the title aspires to be and what it delivers.

War of the Fallen is a card game with some compelling elements, but it is just a bit shallow.

Monkey Boxing is more fun than a barrel of monkeys, if the monkeys all were fighting each other!

Runaway is a classic, old-school adventure experience, for better and for worse.

Taking a little while to get going, Gold Diggers is a fun if slow building Endless Digger.

The Maze Runner is a surprisingly enjoyable movie tie-in that will succeed in keeping players guessing.

The Balloons is a simple but fun endless floater.

For as much as I complain, I'll still play it all the way through a few times to get all the achievements, but I'll whine and kick like a baby the whole time.

While this may not be a truly epic kingdom, there is unquestionably more than enough depth to more than justify a free download.

Roll In The Hole may not usurp Chillingo's other top puzzlers, but it's a nice return to their roots that is well worth picking up.

Do we really need in-app purchases that effectively over-simplify (even break) the game early on?

Assault Commando is an alright shooter, just know that there are better (and cheaper) titles in the App Store.

The quaking camera and explosive graphics make it a real treat for the eyes, and the chaotic gameplay is very fun, as well. Even the audio is great-subtle, dramatic music coupled with good sound effects. Sadly, though, the technical issues along with the lack of replay value keep Warheads from its full potential.

It's a wonderful toy, of sorts, and a great introduction, but it's far too simple for those looking for any sort of challenge.

More levels, especially more challenging ones, and improved controls would make this game a lot better. As it is, Burger Cat needs a bit more seasoning.

So, we have a platformer with an interesting idea, but one that feels like it's still in that phase before it's fun. I encourage the developers to return to this idea; there's something here, it works well on touch screens, but refining it to make and keep it interesting is what is necessary to make it a star.

Spoiler Alert is an interesting take on the auto-runner, involving you running backwards through levels.

I was extremely disappointed by Razor: Salvation. I enjoyed Siegecraft, but a lot in this title just feels half-baked.

Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past is okay at what it does, but what it does isn't very fun.

Worm Run is fun, but it sadly is not perfect. Still, for those looking for something that’s a bit different, this is worth checking out.

RISK is still a solid, fun game; how could it not be? Strategy fans and RISK faithful in particular should enjoy it; the epic, sprawling games are highly engaging. Just be aware that there are many, many clones…some of which surely outshine this stripped-down port.

The game's tutorials are absolutely horrid, in that they serve as a major disruption to the pace of the game.

If you’re going to play a free-to-play multiplayer game, it might as well be a fair one. Shadowgun War Games is one of the few mobile titiles that match this criteria. It also happens to be reasonably fun and easy to control. War Games may lack a bit of content and originality, but that is ok by comparison. Those are things that seem likely to improve and evolve over time. Until then, the core that’s here is solid.

Destructopus is a fun game. The amount of levels means there are a good few hours to play through here and most importantly, it's enjoyable.

Redline Rush puts players in the driver’s seat of endless racing action as they swerve to avoid traffic and roadblocks, all while outrunning the police.

In this mobile version of Puzzle Fighter a lot of the base action feels the same, but it's hard to tell if you ever deserve your wins or losses. Did you win that match because you outplayed your opponent, or did you simply have better cards than them? The free-to-play model obscures the answer to this question so much that Puzzle Fighter never really feels satisfying, at least not in the way it used to. Instead, the main draw is the appeal of unlocking things, rather than developing your puzzle-matching skills.

It may deliver on some of the potential, but it seems to be far more Phantom Menace than A New Hope. Give it a look if you are interested in getting a glimpse at the future, otherwise it may be best to wait for a price to drop.

Tiny Lights is absolutely frustrating. I don't mean in the sense of its challenge, I mean that its existence is frustrating.

If looked at from a distance NBA 2K12 seems like a competent vehicle for playing basketball on the go. Sadly, upon closer inspection, the luster of an incomplete development cycle and poor overall execution of the sport's fundamental gameplay make it nearly impossible to recommend.

I hate to turn my nose up at such a pretty and theoretically cool game, but the controls really do drag the whole experience down.

Evertales is beautiful, and the multiple character design is novel, but it never feels quite properly used here, and the length at launch gives me pause.
