This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. WW84 was an ok film. The story had an interesting premise but some elements were poorly exploited. The Cheetah came way too late into the movie and that didn't setup that villain very well. The main villain was fine but got too much screen time. Renouncing a wish should have been more spectacular and include a time factor. The FX were not always accurate. Some composite scenes were pretty bad (children pickup by WW), some felt totally CGI. The flight scenes were pretty good. The acting was solid from the main actors, less from the rest. I like the emotional parts but the Christmas scene at the end felt incredibly cheesy. What happened to Cheetah ? Don't know. The music was average at best. I give it a 60%. Although it's not bad movie, it's structure and story decision is left to be desire. The second wish for Cheetah, just broke the main accepted premise. Expand

An amazing take on the dichotomy that Wonder Woman tends to have. She can be a warrior - we’ve seen that. She can be that same warrior without destroying everything. Amazing score and cinematography as well. Nice cast.

Really? This movie?

Perhaps it's the fact that this is the biggest semi-theatrical release since Christopher Nolan's equally scrutinized "Tenet," or the wear and tear of the year 2020 on us moviegoers as a whole, but did any of us really expect this to be as good as the first one? This time around, the action is definitely more sparse, but still well-choreographed. The pacing is wonky at times, but the third act is an order of magnitude better than the first film's. In fact, that's not the only thing better. Here, we have a substantially more refined performance from Gal Gadot and a fantastically well-developed villain in the form of Pedro Pascal's Maxwell Lord.

Maybe I'm blind to the truth or just blinded by all the joy in being able to get to the theater again, but I really didn't hate this. I'm curious to see what the response to this would have been if this were a graphic novel or an episode of a Wonder Woman animated series instead.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a slow-paced long movie, that tells a personal story of the three main characters (Diana, Barbara, and Max) in a quite satisfactory way, but leaving opportunity for future developments. Like Barbara Minerva's character, her transformation as Cheetah is overshadowed in the film and not as exciting as it should be (being the archvillain of Wonder Woman) . The character's ending in the movie is ambiguous, wether she kept her powers or not, but it opens up the possibility of Cheetah's appearance in future films.
Maybe they made this movie as a launching pad for future films, so it didn't feel like a good sequel. But overall, the story, CGI, and the movie is quite enjoyable.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Does it become a "Superhero" movie just because it is full of action scenes through the entire running time? Can't a Superhero be emotional? Don't they have emotions? I think this movie has figured out an entirely different angle of the so called Superhero genre.

Firstly, don't expect that all Superhero movies to be filled with fighting and action. The first Wonder Woman movie which came out in 2017 talked about the birth of this legendary heroine. Who she was, what her powers were, trying to figure out the outside world filled with men whom she had never met. However in the end, we do not get to meet the powerful and emotionally strong wonder woman. Instead, we are left with an emotionally broken women who lost her one love which had her connected to the world.

Wonder woman 1984 continues from the point where the first movie ended. It has been sixty years since her beloveds death. As she is immortal, all her previous mortal friends have died. She has learnt much about the world. The uncertainty of all things. Still she grieves for her love and still she is emotionally broken. The film captures more of Diana Prince than Wonder women and her emotional journey. The struggle she goes through to live the hard times. She cannot return to Themyscira because of her mothers law and so she chooses to live alone without any connections or friends in fear of losing them once again. The music gives her loneliness out loud.

So with the dreamstone, she wishes what she had always wanted. However the wish comes with a price. Her powers are reduced and she cannot even take a bullet. Yet she is not willing to give up on Steve. The film captures Dianas emotions as she becomes happier like old times. But with time she realizes she has to let go. She learns the lesson of letting go. She teaches us the lesson of letting go. But not with some action scenes if that was what you were hoping for. Wonder Woman comes out of her hidden self once more full and stronger. At the end of the film, Diana overcomes her emotional struggle which she had been fighting for over sixty years and starts her journey to become the wonder woman who we see in BvS.

Some say WW84 is overindulgent or cliché. Does it become overindulgent because Diana tries to enjoy her lovers company after hurting herself for almost sixty years? And cliche because this type of emotional superhero movie exists? And for those who say this film is very colourful, of course it should be. What is the point of making a movie of 1980s if it ain't no colourful or vibrant? Think before you say something. Overall I think this movie has broken its boundaries and made one hell of a ride in Dianas journey on becoming our beloved Wonder Woman.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 7/10. This movie has a message and a good one. But it doesn't deliver it very well.
- "You can't have everything you want" is the message. But Diana keeps the relationship she had with Steve 100% intact with the new one. She doesn't struggle at all, if she knows she has to let go, why haven't we seen her confront or even imagine that possibility even once in the movie? That's why the scene when she has to leave Steve is average at best.
- About the main "villains". First, we start with Cheetah. I only need one word: Why? She is this invisible woman, and all she wants is to be like Diana. And when she gets that wish, she's happy. But NOOO, she has to be greedy. I have nothing against greedy characters but you can't just turn a very sympathetic and innocent woman into a selfish one without any development. A complete turnoff. You should have kept her intact, wish granted, and make her CHOOSE to help Diana at the expense of her potential new life.
- About the other one. I make this question: Why does he want to give wishes to everybody? We don't know that as well. "Oh he is a loser and he wants everybody to have great lives". No. That's poor. Sufficient but poor. You need to give him better motivation.
- This movie touches on some aspects of "parenting". But we never see that developed as well

Every choice made here is weightless. Predictable. I think Wonder Woman, the first one, is the best DCEU movie to date and it's sad to see WW84 like this, a by-the-book superhero movie, typical superhero stops supervillain because hey "that's what they do". The ending is good I must say, but it's not about the end goal, it's about the journey, and whilst Wonder Woman was a Hillclimb, with Hades as the only flat surface on an otherwise very challenging road, WW84 was a Highway, boring to drive. Even the first scene, with the young wonder woman, whilst it was great (and the girl who portrayed her did a great job), is pointless. "That goddess or whatever was selfless and gave her life away to save the others. You shouldn't try to be successful, the time will come" like cmon. THAT CHILD worked SO HARD to win that challenge and YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST TAKE HER VICTORY LIKE THAT? See, I'm mad about that scene, not because it was bad, but because I CARED about young Diana and felt bad for her. But the scene is pointless cause we never see Diana cope with her shi**y caretaker or mom or whatever. It doesn't matter anyway since we get to see Diana saving people in the next scene and it's all good. It was the best scene of the movie and it was worthless. That's the last critique I have about the movie. Too lengthy, all filler, no actual cake

The casting was great, like always. Love Gal Gadot. WW vs Cheetah was a bad CGI fight. And my hopes for a great DCEU movie are fading away

WW84 forgoes much of the typical action and comedy in favor of patiently progressing through a story designed to instill a moral in order to ensure that its message is more effectively delivered. This does lead to some rather humdrum pacing and a few dull stretches, but the way it actively tries to teach the audience something sort of exemplifies what makes Princess Diana so special to begin with by reaffirming her as someone we can all look up to. Hearkening back to the days when comic book heroes were people we could aspire to be like not solely for their powers and incredible adventures, but for the strength of their character as well.

Slow though it may be, there is still some spectacle to be found here. It's just of a more toned down variety that calls to mind the whimsical escapist thrills of the Golden and Silver ages of comics, rather than the bombastic and elaborate setpieces we've become accustomed to today. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn't help that the majority of the running-time is also dedicated to fleshing out the cast through their detailed interactions with one another. It certainly makes for a cute little adventure with the most well-realized and developed villains in any cinematic universe to date, but my goodness is there a noticeable lack of excitement most of the time that can make it hard to stay fully engaged given its length.

Despite its lack of zest however, I remain a fan of 1984 for its throwback to the cape-and-costume tales of yesteryear nature and the titular character herself. Portrayed with such grace and charm by Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman is the beacon of hope and goodness that Superman and Captain America were supposed to be on the big-screen. Even her shiny and brightly colored new suit radiates a quality of awe-inspiring heroism that she proves isn't just skin-deep by going the extra mile and not only sparing, but REDEEMING her foes when all her counterparts in the DCEU and MCU are busy making sure every enemy they come across has no chance of returning for a sequel.

It's these qualities along with the fact that what was attempted here wasn't even a bad idea that allow me to stand beside her during this one minor misstep. This really was a well-meaning attempt to shake things up for superheroes by returning to the tone and principles found in their inception while offering a life lession in the process. A concept I would love to see revisited with more life and energy in the future, because while this love letter to the character's roots may be lacking in the expected and sometimes even the necessary amount of entertainment value, it was refreshing to see one of these films finally break away from the mold to try something different. So when all is said and done, Wonder Woman is still my girl!

Gal Gadot returns as Diana Prince in “Wonder Woman 1984” which has seen its release date shift a few times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The film has started to open overseas and will arrive in the U.S. on Christmas day with a limited debutGal Gadot returns as Diana Prince in “Wonder Woman 1984” which has seen its release date shift a few times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The film has started to open overseas and will arrive in the U.S. on Christmas day with a limited debut on HBO Max as well.

The story sees Diana now living in Washington D.C. in 1984. Diana is popular but has refused male companionship as she still longs for her late love Steve Trevor (Chris Pine).

Diana works in the Smithsonian Institute in antiquities and keeps her secret identity under wraps even when a daring mall heist forces her to leap into action.

A shy and passive employee named Barbara (Kirsten Wiig); who is afraid of her own shadow and largely ignored by her peers is befriended by Diana and they discover one item from the heist is inscribed with the ability to grant a wish. Unknowingly Diana wishes for Steve to return and Barbara wishes to be more like Diana which sets a chain of events into motion.

A shady business man named Maxwell Lord (Perdro Pascal) has his site on obtaining the relic as he believes having the ability to grant wishes will allow him to save his failing business and give him the power he craves.

With such a promising setup; the film ultimately does not deliver on its premise and becomes bogged down in drawn out sequences with surprisingly little action and gaps in logic that defy even standards for a comic book film.

The first 90 minutes of the film has roughly 10-15 minutes of action tops and we are instead given lengthy scenes of Steve trying to find an 80s fashion look; flying over fireworks, and Maxwell trashing from one locale to another without much needed continuity.

An action scene involving a convoy chase through the desert seems very inspired by “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and ultimately does not deliver especially with such a long gape between the action sequences.

The final act does attempt to redeem the film as seeing Barbara transform into her new persona is interesting and Wiig does a very solid job with the role. This sadly is undermined with a single line of dialogue which takes away a big part of the transformation that audiences deserved to see.

There was also a sequence where Diana races down the streets and takes to flight with her Lasso and then discovers she can fly like Superman. Not only is this not in keeping with the character; but we see this extended fast moving sequence where she is clearly heading away from D.C. at great speed only to arrive at a destination with an item which had been established to be back at her home in D.C. It is this sort of sloppiness that really detracts from the film. There is also the fact that Steve has to fly her around on a jet that even as a pilot he should not know how to fly as he has never flown a jet aircraft in his life.

When the big confrontation comes it is a letdown as it is not overly epic and the CGI really does not seem to mesh. What is an even bigger disappointment is that a certain character stands emoting for several minutes while Diana gives such a bland and extended speech that even my wife had to ask “who wrote these lines”.

The film was not a total disaster as the characters were interesting and worked well with one another making the film entertaining in parts despite being really disappointed with it.

The film strikes me as a product of the talented Patty Jenkins being able to do whatever she wanted after the success of the first film. Jenkins not only Directed but did the screenplay for it. Considering the amazing job she did writing “Monster” I had high expectations for the film but to me it seemed like it could have used a bit more attention to several aspects.

My summary would be the following… good cast, entertaining in parts, not much action over two hours, takes huge liberties with Diana and her abilities, massive gaps in logic even for a comic movie. It aims to be epic and comes up lacking. At least the mid. credit scene was worth it.

I couldnt love the change in pace any more if I tried.

WW84 is a return the camp and cheese of yester years. No over the top giant cg battles, no constant bombardment of action. If you're looking for the generic formula that Marvel has invented of stupid constant action you're going to be let down so much.

This movie has all of 3 action scenes. I love it. It focus more on jokes and story telling than it does on fights. The biggest issue with the original movie is how awful the stupid cgi fight is at the end of the movie. This doesnt go for that. It's clearly harking back to the old Superman movies and a kind of 90's Batman feel. My only real complaint is the pointless opening as her as a child. Im sure its to give the casual movie viewer that extra bit of action and setup the golden suit at the end of the movie. Frankly you gain nothing from it. It could be cut completely. Really thats the only thing wrong with this movie is run time. With a little trimming it could flow and work much better. If you're looking for something wholy so UN MARVEL and UN DISNEY generic this might be for you. I base this off me hating the whole MCU as just awful movies. As a reference point I like Fox's Xmen, Sonys Spidermans and Blade. So I dont hate comic movies I just hate Disney comic movies.

Loved Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Pedro Pascal but they felt wasted in this story. The part about her childood was pointless and pratically erased everything the first movie showed: a strong woman who isn't strong from the beginning and that has to owned it by training and making mistakes; this one shows a 10 year old girl who's stronger and better than anyone else (capable of competing with much older women) and that get disqualified by a technicality; don't make her compete as a child or, at least, make her compete against other children...i don't get it. She is strong yes, but the beauty of the first one was that she wasn't perfect, she had to grow, as a character and in her powers, in this one seems like she has nothing to learn anymore, and that the only thing that is stopping her are memories and that she has to let them go. I always hated the "losing my powers" story choice, cause it means that the character has reached his/her peak and that she's to strong for anybody, so the only way to make them struggle is to literally weaken them, and that's just poor writing. Kristen Wiggins and Pedro Pascal's characters and presentations are so strong, Gal Godot's WW takes a back seat to them. This also happened when Chris Reeves played opposite more colorful actors playing Lex Luthor. In WW 84, this works much better. The film is pretty great, even if as critic note, its grasp falls short of its thematic reach.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I liked the original, and I've been suffering superhero fatigue since Age of Ultron. Despite this, I still have hope to see Darkseid properly adapted. Coming into WW1984, I was hopeful they could pull off the charm and dynamic from the original, but it just felt messy and awkward instead. I don't know who was hyping up the crew behind the scenes, but someone had to know about some of the story's glaring issues and the weird stuff going on with Steve. Like the main bad guy is just a genie that grants wishes. Anyway not good; 3/10 shouldn't watch, enjoy the original and the Snyder cut. Expand

Some scenes could have been edited out to make the movie shorter. In the first half Kristen Wiig feels like she was type cast from Ghostbusters as a goofy and clumsy genius.
Wiig at least feels less like she is phoning it in as the movie goes on. Pedro Pascal (the Mandalorian) Maxwell Lord though feels like a villain of the week. The films strength is the chemistry of Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. As well as just Gal Gadot period. The weakest aspect is the plot that really isn’t worthy of Gadot’s Wonder Woman. The movie isn’t bad though. Since despite being too long. It isn’t an overlong bleak mess, like Batman v Superman.
However it is too long to simply give us another Christmas message of “be happy with what you have.”

Nostalgia driven homage to 1980s superhero films and TV, that runs a little too long and has some unnecessary slow parts. If you dig that vibe, you'll like it, but keep the fast forward handy.

We last saw Wonder Woman during WWI and now fast forward to the 1980s Wonder Woman is back on the big screen facing two brand new enemies Max Lord (Pedro Pascal) and The Cheetah (Kristen Wiig). Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) now working in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. comes across a mysterious stone with the ability to apparently grant wishes to anyone holding it. The stone seems ordinary enough to everyone except of course the power-crazed Max Lord. Fear not as Wonder Woman is safely back in the hands of director Patty Jenkins, and beautifully accompanied by another stunning Hans Zimmer score. Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig are great additions to the cast, both making believable villains with clear motivations. Pascal particularly is stealing the spotlight and doing some real scenery chewing any chance he gets. Look, it’s not perfect and it has its issues, most of which you can overlook. I did feel it was missing an action sequence and it’s a little disjointed in places but despite that I enjoyed seeing Gal Gadot kick ass on the big screen again. Wonder Woman 1984 is a bright burst of 80s nostalgia with an old school superhero feel to it.

The days of sitting in a packed cinema are long gone and it’s uncertain when we’ll ever get back to that but right now the cinemas are open and operating safely so when you’re ready to get back in front of the silver screen again Wonder Woman 1984 is waiting for you, although depending on where you live you might want to hurry up and see it quick. Recommended for all you film buffs out there.

Fabulous cast, incredible Hans Zimmer score and some truly magical, memorable moments. WW84 dares to be different, as DC comic book films so often do... and it absolutely works.

The effects of her jumping onto buildings like Spider-Man and when she don't have them, holding onto lightning bolts are from b-series tv movie. High heels shoes don't look good on her when she's running. The romantic and comedy scenes between Diana and Steve are very childish and absurd, not adult at all, the whole movie in general. There are scenes reminiscent of Batman from Schumacher. Invisibility is pulled up their sleeve without any explanation, it does it because the script says. The theme of "I don't need a man to be happy" is absurd and contradicts itself in the same movie, because she has been sad for decades for having lost her love. There are cameras even in the mall, however they enter the White House as if nothing, without any security. The villains are much better than in the previous installment led by great actors. The treatment of men is worse than in Birds of Prey. The action scenes are very good and the movie is not bad, but it has many flaws. The final battle is very good, but it is very short. Expand

I loved the first movie and thought this one was just ok. It's 2 and a half hours which is probably the worst thing about it. It's just not worth that much of someone's time.

Aside from that... they retread some old ground. In the first movie diana was a fish out of water and now it's steve's turn but... it's not quite as funny in my opinion.

Also Kristen Wiig as a villain... terrible casting. She'd be fine as a geeky best friend but as someone ignored, gradually turning evil... she just can't pull it off. Plus realistically... she's not nearly as attractive as gal gadot. It's kind of weird having her as a rival.

The action is pretty good though and it's well shot. Some pretty solid performances. Not a great script or story. Just some nonsense about a magic wishstone. Overall... it's fine but a big step down from the first movie and too long. 2 hours would be much better.

Unfortunately this was probably the worst movies I have seen in the last decade. The first 30 minutes was actually quite good, but then the story line just degenerated from there. Clearly there was an issue with the writing. I think the actors did the best they could with the material given, but overall I was amazed at how poor this movie was. The DC universe continues to struggle with consistently delivering coherent movies and unfortunately they ran one of their best characters into the ground with this one. Expand

My biggest wish: I want my time back! And also my money, but fortunately I saw the film in streaming and not in the cinema, where I would have paid extra.

I have rarely seen a more silly and pointless movie than this one. If you think you can't do worse than Alex Kurtzman's Star Trek, Wonder Woman 1984 will prove you wrong. Characters and plot are implausible and make no sense. The film doesn't build up any suspense, nor do you get the feeling that the world is on the brink and it needs a superhero to save it. One wonders how Pedro Pascal as an actor could get lost in such a production. Chris Pine's character adds nothing to the plot. Gal Gadot has no charisma. The film doesn't even offer well-done action sequences. Wonder Woman 1984 falls miles short of Zack Snyder's other DC productions.

Originally slated to released in the late 2019, Wonder Woman 1984 had some delays due to needing more time to complete the film and going through the COVID-19 pandemic where theatres are closed down all over the world. After some setbacks, the ninth instalment of DC Extended Universe (which is now the official name of the franchise) has finally arrived before the end of the 2020. The movie is available to watch in some theatres that are open and in HBO Max at the same time.

66 years after the events of the first film, Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gadot) have moved to Washington D.C. and working as senior anthropologist at the Smithsonian Institution. During work, she meets a woman named Barbara Ann Minerva (Wiig), who is an insecure woman who comes to idolise her but also envy her as well. After stopping the mall heist, Diana and Barbara identified one of the stolen antiquities called Dreamstone.

Unknown to each other, Diana uses the stone by wishing to bring her deceased her lover, Steve Trevor (played by Chris Pine). His soul then inhabits another man’s body. Barbara also uses the stone by wishing to become like Diana which grants her superpowers and godhood. Later, an oil tycoon named Maxwell Lord (Pascal) stole the Dreamstone, an object he have been searching for a long time, during a party at Smithsonian Institution.

Hoping to use power of the stone to save his company, he absorb the stone and gain the power to grant wishes to people while also able to take whatever he wants from the others. Not only he becomes an influential figure, he also creates chaos and destruction in his wake as his powers trigger worldwide instability and conflict.

Unlike the first film, this movie is less superior than its predecessor. For the good parts, the casts’ performance are great. Gal Gadot and Chris Pine have great chemistry with each other just like the first film. Their acting is great as in the first film. As for Kristen Wiig, I have doubt at first on whether or not she can play a villain character in this movie. Having seen her acting in this one, I can say she has done a great job. Let’s not forget about Pedro Pascal. He really plays a great villain and at the same time as sympathetic character. Wonder Woman’s character arc in this movie remain true to her character as established in the first film.

Now for the bad parts of this movie. The movie have less action scenes compare to the first film which is almost comparable to 2006’s Superman Returns which the movie suffered the same thing. This cause the movie to have some boring scenes. In addition, the fighting scenes were kind of a letdown. The story in this movie is notably weaker. Just like Bird of Prey from earlier this year, the story does not lead up to anything. Not a single one hint of sequel or to another event that set up a future movie. Despite this, Patty Jenkins did her best not to do too much of sequel baits which I think it is fine since doing too much sequel baits hurt a film a lot.

While this movie is not superior to its predecessor as I have mentioned earlier, this movie is still good enough to watch. It is still very much better than 2016’s Suicide Squad and 2017’s Justice League. Overall, Wonder Woman 1984 is not great but it is not terrible either. I still recommend to watch the movie. If possible, try to watch this movie in your local theatres if they are open and then watch it again in HBO Max. Unless if no theatres are no open nearby at you place, HBO Max is your only option. For international, do your best to watch the movie in theatres that are open. One last thing, stay back for a mid-credits scene for a surprise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm guessing that after the poor critical response of Batman v Superman and the critical acclaim of Wonder Woman, Warner Bros must have thought of something any layman would have thought of at first glance: Zack Snyder cannot make Wonder Woman as nicely as Patty Jenkins can. So this time only Patty Jenkins was around to make this. This movie came on Prime yesterday and I finished it just now, so everything is still fresh in my memory. First of all, let's get the praises done with. This movie has amazing CGI and the action scenes are pretty well choreographed. With that said, let's move on to all the problems with this movie.
The beginning of the problems is Wonder Woman herself. First of all, her costume is way too bright. I think they probably reused the same costume that they used in Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman and Justice League. Since those movies had a darker colour palette, the bright costume was needed so that the costume's colours would be visible even after the bleak filter. Here however, she stands out of the crowd, something like a cosplayer. Secondly, in this movie Wonder Woman looks way too weak. In the previous movies she ran super fast and dodge bullets easily. She could rip guns without breaking a sweat. Now she actually gets hurt by bullets, gets blown away by a little wind and needs to use her full strength to break a simple lock. It's quite contradictory because in the beginning of the movie she is shown to toss away a speeding car by simply shanking it. Also her powers are very vague, but I will come to that point later.
The next big problem is the story. It's literally Bruce Almighty's plot (or God Tussi Great Ho if you're an Indian like me XD): Everyone gets their wishes granted which causes chaos in the world. Initially everything seems to be fine but slowly bad people start asking for bad things and now the whole world in on a brink of a nuclear war. So now everything has to be restored back to normal. And for that Wonder Woman has to let Steve die because he also came back to life because of her wish. This is what we call a superhero's sacrifice.
And finally the problem that bothers me very much - the plot holes in this movie. The idea that an artefact can make anything come true immediately is kinda unbelievable, especially if it's something like having more nuclear missiles or asking all the Irish people to be deported. There should have been some random events happening which finally lead to the consequences. I would have believed this if it was a Doraemon episode, but this is a movie that belongs to the same cinematic universe as Man of Steel or the prequel, Wonder Woman itself.
Like I said, Wonder Woman's powers are also very vague. And she gets them for no reason whatsoever. Just as she walks away from Steve, she suddenly gains the power to fly. It's impossible to tell whether she's flying or falling with style. She also swings on lightning bolts because why not. When she lands, she is wearing the Kingdom Come suit. Don't ask when she changed the costume. She uses her lasso to spin it around so fast that it can block bullets, but she can't use it to grab Max Lord immediately in the end. Speaking of Max Lord, why does wind start blowing when Max Lord starts granting everyone's wishes? What was the need for that to happen?
Even Cheetah's creation was so ambiguous. "I want to be different from everyone else, like an apex predator." - who talks like that? Her motivations were also not clear at all. She became strong like Diana, yes, but what now? Yes she lost her humanity, but that doesn't mean she should become insane. She could just be a normal person who doesn't care about anyone. Now I haven't read the comics so I don't know if this is the actual story from the comics, but they should have altered the story to fit in more with the tone, like how Harvey Dent was in The Dark Knight or Joker in, well, Joker. Alistaire was also a cliched "innocent child" who just wants daddy to come back home. And all the bad incidents that take place look so forced. It's almost like everything was deliberately made to go bad, like some Phineas and Ferb episode.
Most importantly, what was the whole point behind making this movie? No character development takes place, no big incident happens, no new character is introduced (the ones introduced are then abandoned). Out of everything that ever happens in it, the only major event is that Wonder Woman can now fly, which is something that could be introduced in some other movie also. It doesn't matter whether you like Zack Snyder or not, this movie is the final proof that removing him from DCEU was a mistake, even though it didn't seem like that before. While trying to remove the serious tone, they made it super childish. This movie is to Wonder Woman what Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is to Superman or Batman & Robin is to Batman. I hope DCEU doesn't make this mistake again.

For the life of me I can not understand why anyone could hate this movie. Yes ill admit there were some dull and corny scenes during the movie, Probably trying to pay homage the Lynda carter WW, but it was a solid movie. that deserves the 7.5.

Pros:
- Awesome fight scenes. half of the movies fight scenes was awesome
- The chemistry between cast members
- Pedro pascal performance as Maxwell lord
- Maxwell lord is a much better villian than Ares. Possible the greatest in the DCEU.
- That Beautiful Lie scene was... well Beautiful.
- the last half of the second act and the entire third act was amazing
- that Lynda Carter cameo

Cons:
- cheesy Fight scenes. the other half were not so great.
- CGI was a step down then to what the DCEU has offered us.
- Plot holes. There were some serious plot holes that dont add up to BVS that well. Primarily the fact that WW could fly in this and not in BVS or Justice League.

Overall:
despite its issues its a real good movie that doest deserve all the hate it gets. though by Patty Jenkins standards this could be considered a let down. Overall i enjoyed this movie and was ready to cry during the Beautiful Lie scene and Maxwell lords scene with his son.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm a big fan of superhero movies and I generally like all of them. You may call me a fanboy. I can turn off my brain and I just want to watch something fun. The reason I like these movies is because superheroes have superpowers and they can perform extraordinary feats the average action movie hero can't, such as using a magical lasso to grab onto a **** lightning bolt to propel yourself into the sky. I loved that **** I've never seen something like that. That's the kind of stuff I expect from superhero movies. Diana also uses her lasso to catch a bullet and save Steve, which was also very cool.

So I'm willing to overlook things like bad writing and bad CGI if I get interesting and satisfying action scenes. Overall, I think Wonder Woman 1984 is an OK movie. But my biggest gripe with it is that it just doesn't have enough action in it. Seriously, it's two and a half hours long, we get the athletic competion and the mall robbery scenes in the beginning, and then we don't get another proper action scene until an hour later! Granted, that is the best and longest action sequence in movie. "It was well worth the wait", I told myself when I got to that scene. And the thing is, the exposition scenes before it aren't even that bad. I wasn't bored, but I just wanted more action. It's a two and a half hour long movie. The pacing gets better after that, though.

Aside from the action, I also liked the characters. I'm a big fan of Pedro Pascal and I think Maxwell was an interesting and whacky villain. I liked seeing him on the screen and he gets a bit humanized at the end. I was also a fan of the "a wish comes true, but with a negative twist" idea.

I liked Cheetah, too, but there just wasn't enough of her. Again, it's a two and a half hour long movie and we only get like two action scenes with her. And only one with her in her full form. It was one of the best action scenes, though.

Also, the Lynda Carter cameo at the end was pretty cool.

All in all, I think it's an acceptable movie. I just wanted more action. I can see why some people didn't like it, but some seem to be very uncharitable to it and determined to tear it apart.

Gal Gadot was great as WW in the first movie, here she seems to be going through the motions for the most part, with only a couple of standout emotional moments.
IMHO, what makes this movie just barely above average is Pedro Pascal, with the best character arc in the movie and a scene stealing performance, he was the only reason I didn’t turn off the movie.

Events and character choices don't connect or make sense. Wonder Woman (who barely appears - it's Diana 1984 really) is the least interesting character in the film which is a problem. Gadot has a winning smile but reads her lines rather than acts and does the godawful 'head shake' to express emotion. There's a degree of forced diversity (in supporting characters) and 'Men are bad, m'kay?' which is at odds with this potboiler's largely ignored stab at a theme (truth before all else) expressed by the excellent Robin Wright who, as in the first film, is the best thing in this outing. movies are artcrafts of genius directors and does not need to appeal to so-called daily mind, daily mind is just for fools.
i'm 35 and i can say ww84 is almost the best movie i've ever seen.thou the action scenes can just catch a 6 compared to asian kongfu movie.but the beautiful picture, smooth&detailed while overwhelming story, bad female hero, bad oil guy are better than ever and never, equalling a score of 12

Not since the Nolan Batman movies or the first Snyder films I have seen such great attention to character and world development.

If there are common themes to various super-heroes, the search and promoting of empathy in Wonder Woman's journey is subtly and beautifully depicted in this heartwarming film. It reminds me of Spider-Man 2 in a very positive way, as it seems like every character is a crucial element of the hero's story, and not just another box to check. It also makes a lot of sense, then, that the main villain is this megalomaniac with a Napoleon complex who is, paradoxically, a complete failure in his personal life.

As far as story goes, I was very positively surprised. But this movie also exhibits great pacing and exciting action scenes, that felt refreshingly organic. The grandiose directing and score put the cherry on the top.

Great action movie with a carefully crafted script. Probably one of my favorite super-hero movies of recent years, maybe one of my favorite, period.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Apparently there was rumors that had messages within the movie. Maybe it did, but didn't bother me all that much. Kristen Wiig didn't bug me all that much, but you do expect a joke here and there. Just wish yhere was more Cheetah. Patty Jenkins has got to fid her footing in finding a believable bad guy. The Max Lord in the comics was ruthlessness evil. Didn't believe in this bad guy. And Chris Pine really didn't need to be in this movie. Could have done without, but that's my opinion. And as 8 see it, many others. Loved the first movie, gave it 9.5. But this one, I give it a 6.5. So be warned. Expand

I’ll say it...I’m a Superhero Movie Junkie. I love them all. I think a “6” is about as low as I can go. Superhero movies are exciting, entertaining and I’m usually captivated throughout the entirety of watching one. This movie was no different, but...

The bar was high for Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot was/is an incredible Wonder Woman and overall superhero. There’s a mystery and intrigue of this character that always has me on the edge of my seat. The intrigue was there for Wonder Woman the character, but lost on the movie. I actually enjoyed all of the performances of this movie. Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Chris Pine are each exceptional in their own right. The storyline is where the mark was missed. The opening scene of the movie was a throwback to Dianna’s youth. The scene was awesome, but the connection of that scene to the rest of the movie was lost. You could maybe make a far reach of how Dianna had to... no... no you can’t. It was lost.

As the movie gets going you quickly learn Wiig and Pascal’s motivation for their characters. The two actually want the same thing (to feel important and to have more “x”), but Pascal’s character takes the biggest leap to attain it. The beginning and middle of this movie are excellent. The story line is presented, the obstacles are unfolding and even Chris Pine’s resurrection of character makes some sense. The end of the movie, however, really loses its luster. The reason for Pascal’s villainous demise was completely lost on me. A cheap pep rally from Wonder Woman seemed to turn the tide (I suppose the son’s wish could have been the reason, but it never seemed like that was the case). The final 20-25 minutes seemed very rah-rah and not from the typical superhero way you would expect. In this film, the inevitability that good always “beats” evil prevailed because good is just better morally than evil and not because of any stereotypical fight scene. While I’ll concede that this may be a movie that 2020 needed, it seemed like the type of movie that 10 years from now we will look back on and say, “That movie started really great, but what the heck happened in the end?”

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. WW84 gets unfairly trashed in the sense that, in a vacuum, it's not a bad movie at all. The movie suffers though, because the first one was so good. Gadot was awesome in the role as usual, and surprisingly, Wiig was fantastic in her portrayal of Minerva as well. The real issue with this movie, other than the pacing, is how Steve Trevor's return was handled. It was downright cringy, and neither WW nor Steve really see an issue with him inhabiting some other guy's body with no thought given to this guy's life. Other than that, WW84 is perfectly fine, just didn't live up to expectations. Expand
