Bad story, bad acting, and not what I was hoping for. Maybe corona had something to do with it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 1 point for the beauty of Gal Gadot.

A broken teenage girl fairy tale riddled with poor logic and woke messages.

- It’s an action movie, yet the movie had minimal actions. One of the reasons is that Kristen Wig, the actor of Cheetah, is not an action film actor.

- The movie could happen in any year. It made zero use of the year 1984.

- Diana’s mother didn’t want Diana to learn to fight in the first movie, yet she allows Diana to compete in a fighting/sports competition in this one.

- Diana had no problem with her teammates using guns in the first movie, yet she says “I hate guns” in this one. Pure propaganda.

- The antagonist wanted to be number one in the world. He wanted to rule the world, not to destroy the world. Yet the movie made him destroy the world.

- Cheetah in this movie is set to be as strong as Wonder Woman. Yet she can be electrocuted, but Diana can’t. They were both in the water, connected by the same cable.

- Poor choice of actress of Cheetah. Her wish was to be as smart, strong and sexy as Diana. Kristen Wig is 47 and Gal Gadot is 35. Wig never displayed the same level of smartness, strength and sexiness as Gadot in this movie.

- The movie had a white guy attacking Kristen Wig’s Barbara character like any person will ever want to rape a uncharming person like Barbara.

- In the end people just act like the world wasn’t almost destroyed by almost everyone’s wish, and just lived with it.

- It was 1984, yet the movie had the actors saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas in the end.

- Regardless of all the BS, the movie managed to last for 150 minutes.

Strip all the wokeness and maybe the movie can have more time to tell the story better.

What the hell was that? From the first scenes it was like watching a bad 90's superhero comedy movie from a first time director. Simply put, one of the worst thing ever and not just when it comes to movies.

The plot revolves around *wishes* which makes the stakes super ambiguous and ridiculous. The 80's setting is largely wasted by being completely politically inert and quite regressive considering the potential of a character that is Wonder Woman. She spends the entire film just wanting to be with her dead boyfriend and is the least impactful character in her own film. This stinks of garbage old white producers refusing to allow a woman superhero movie to actually be about something or try to say something. Pedro Pascal is fun, and hams it up in every scene, but his villainous motivation is completely stupid. DC movies are all pretty bad, and this one stings harsher after the first WW being mostly okay. It's 2 hours 30 minutes and it drags every second. The CGI is really lackluster and the potential of Kristen Wiig's Cheetah is completely wasted. Actually, wasted potential is the perfect way to describe WW84 overall. Expand

I enjoyed the previous Wonder Woman movie, and was looking forward to this one. However, about 10 minutes into the movie, it became evidently clear that the writing, characters, and story was going unoriginal and bland. It felt like this entire movie was written by somebody that had no experience in film or creative fields. All the issues and character’s challenges were incredibly clumsy and thoughtless. Every character had the most generic motivations, and their conflicts have unsatisfying conclusions. Please spend your Christmas watching something else because at the end of this movie, my family lamented wasting two and a half hours watching this hot mess. Expand

Also part of that score is in tribute to trying to put a Trump in a movie to show his psychosis from an objective point of view.

That said -- this film was as pleasurable as a frat boy puking into your mouth. Just past the halfway point where Lord was pitching his new 'success' to his son -- I wanted to walk out. The problem is it was my home and there was nowhere to walk to. SHAZAM? AQUAMAN? HARLEY QUINN? Little 'nothing' DCU movies that were 100 times better. The first WONDER WOMAN? 10,000 times better.

The film reminds of me sequels that were made in the 70s. They'd have a hit like POSEIDON or PLANET OF THE APES and release a low budget piece of garbage in a cynical cash grab. "Even if half the people see it we make twice the money of the first film!"

I promise you the REAL budget for this was under 50 million. Shatner's STAR TREK V was better than this. One of the Star Wars prequels (the middle one) was better. Even JUSTICE LEAGUE was more watchable somehow.

I will NEVER rewatch this film. I turned the dishwasher on halfway through because I hoped it would drown it out somehow.

As a crazy big fan of the first film I'll say this film should have never been released. It's THAT bad.

A sequel that should never have been made.

The first WW film was awful. I say that as someone who is as adamant of a supporter of DC as you will find. WW84 takes a stupid name, puts it in a terrible (but trendy) era, butchers that era, butchers the characters, disregards plot, pacing and logic and effectively leaves an infantilized version of WW wrapped in a misandrist sheen.

It is following the same path of the original in that it is again pushing that awful Disney model for super hero films and distilling the source material to golden books level of childrens stories. There is nothing worth watching here. One minute you will find yourself rolling your eyes at how goofy the plot and dialogue is and the next you will find yourself agitated at how sexist and intolerant the production is. Even as a woman you should be upset because its pandering, disrespectful, and condescending. Sort of like Hillary Clinton expecting all women to vote for her just because she is female. So too does WW2 expect you to swoon and cheer for a "bad ass woman" just because you are a woman without actually representing women for the focus on negative stereotypes as reality.

Yet what is the most unforgivable sin is that when you put all the parts together its just boring. I seriously had to watch the film at x1.45 speed and it was so slowly paced it felt like it was normal run time. Thats not really an issue that its a female centric film. Its a problem with the character and its one shared with her DC counterpart, Superman. The character is essentially an idealized version of a woman but has no tangible flaws. She is unrelatable down to her DNA. They somehow managed to find a way of dragging it out and making it worse. This is further compounded by the heinous mistake of putting the role in the hands of Gal Gadot.

Granted, she tries her best and she does turn in a better performance this time around, that is still a low, low bar. The awful israeli accent has been considerably been thinned out this time around to where she is at least comprehensible, its still incorrect and that thick accent makes it all that much harder to connect to the protagonist. Its like trying to watch the recent Macbeth that stayed true to the original language and left the whole thing mostly unwatchable.

For all its sins the most grievous of which is the single dumbest ending of any super hero film ever made. All of this is inexcusable considering they have had the film ready to go for most of 2020. They kept pushing it back simply trying to wait it out for theatrical release. That means they had extra months to review the product, do focus testing and know that it was absolutely awful. Yet they went ahead and released it anyway. No one could see this and not know it is going to flop.

So yet again an unacceptable excuse for a WW movie. Had it not been another attempt at cloning Disney into DC it could have mustered as high as maybe a 3/10. Otherwise with the misandry and Disney model being the core foundation of the film it EARNS 0/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie WW84 compares to Superman 3 & 4 bundled together, since it’s a long and boring 2.5 hrs movie with no substance, no storyline, no bad guys to make it worthwhile. If I had gone to see this in theatres, I would have walked out well before it was over. Keep in mind JL is from present time but the very first WW is from World War I, when Diana rescued US pilot Captain Steve Trevor crashing off the Themysciran coast. This second movie is from 1984. And there are no god-like evil in this made-to-tv sorta cartoonish-ness film. Just a “dream stone” that grants wishes. Diana wishes for her deceased lover, Steve Trevor, to return, causing his soul to take over another man's body. And Barbara (an insecure woman who idolizes and envies Diana) wishes to become strong like Diana. A business man Max Lord (the Mandalorian guy) wishes to become the stone to gain its power. In other words he becomes a Genie Who also can take whatever he desires in return. Sort of like the horror movie “The Wishmaster”. I think Jenkins (the director) was thinking of Donald Trump as in, what would he do if he came across a powerful stone that grants any wish. And the fact that Patty Jenkins mentioned several times this movie needed to be watched in the big screen is a joke! Compared to big blockbuster films from Bay, Nolan, Spielberg, Jackson, Lucas and Verbinski, this WW84 looks pretty cartoonishly to me. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is in a Suicide Squad level. The first movie of Wonder Woman was awful. It really sucks. But this movie was able to surpass the first one. They took the Shazam idea of a childish hero/universe and put it into this one with a naive hero. The first action scene, in the mall... come one! The CGI scenes were garbage. Why did she use the whip to swing in the lightning if she learned how to fly? How can a scientist borrow an item that the FBI asked for analysis without any concern about it? How could a scientist come with an inference about an ancient artifact without further tests, just guessing that is fake by looking at it? How could a real hero maintain no real concern about the life and consciousness of the one who her lover took the body to swing around? How could a real hero steal an airplane? The whole movie is a real mess.

The movie has a narrative structure of the 2000s superhero movies. It's shallow, a crap story only to justify a bunch of corny and horrible action scenes. The first was terrible but this one was able to vanquish it.

It started a bit goofy, and I can accept that. Go the comic book route and have some fun with it. However, I realized it was not an attempt to style the movie, it was just goofy.

It has a good professional finish. But the choices all seem to revolve around WW's need to get screwed. So much for the feminist, the strength, the role model that WW stands for....

Diana asks everyone to renounce their wishes in the end so that everything goes back to normal. She says the wishes are a shortcut to your objective. What if a crippled person wished to walk. Is that a short ut to walking what if a dying man asked to be saved from a incurable illness is he having a shortcut to being alive? Just a stupid plot altogether. Sadly, Wonder Woman 1984 is its polar opposite. Terrible. The first hour and 20 minutes are excruciatingly slow. Then in the final hour it really picks up ... and becomes such a confused, inconsistent mess it'll make your head spin. Things just make no sense. Then there is the unfortunate fact that all men (except Steve Trevor) in this movie are groping sexual assaulters. One positive aspect of the first Wonder Woman movie was that it did not come off as a man-hating flick at all, in the way, say, Captain Marvel did. Wonder Woman was for everyone. Disappointingly, "Wonder Woman 1984" makes Captain Marvel seem as if it was produced by a men's rights club. It's hard to understand why Gal Gadot or someone else on set didn't say at some point, "This is just ridiculous." In any event, a real disappointment after the last Wonder Woman movie. Shockingly so. It gets 2 points. One for Gal Gadot and one for Chris Pine. They were great, but they had to act out an excretious tale. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Yes, it’s a super hero movie, yes it’s PG13, so somewhat aimed at kids. It’s also cheesy (in both eye-rolling and fun ways). It has a terrible, convoluted plot and all the trappings of the super hero blockbuster ilk. Oh yes and it’s really long. But none of those are the real problems with Wonder Woman 1984. The real problems are in the way the characters and story are written. At the heart of it is the flatness of Wonder Woman as a two dimensional character. She pines (pun intended) for a single dude she loves but shows absolutely no passion for. Her character expresses virtually no humor. She never seems to get angry or express emotions with much intensity. By contrast Kristen Wiig’s character is given too much relatability. She’s downtrodden, overlooked and under appreciated. She’s funny, self deprecating and good at her job. She wants to feel empowered and as the viewer you can’t help but hope she succeeds. You also understand her motives which makes her a simpathetic villain who is much more interesting that the titular heroine. Similarly Pedro Pascal’s Maxwell Lord is a (mostly) relatable villain. He wants to succeed and makes some terrible decisions to do so. But his character is ultimately redeemed as is Wiig’s when Wonder Woman basically talks them out of being bad. Yeah. No big final showdown - no punitive ass-kicking here. She momentarily talks the world out of being selfish via mass media. More importantly, in this part of the DC universe there’s the opportunity for strong female super heroes that girls and kids can look up to. In Wonder Woman 1984 the two female leads are either dispassionate and boring or evil and vain. This is where Chris Pine’s character Steve comes in, making an example of self sacrifice to move the story forward and save the day. That’s right - the game-changers in a movie called Wonder Woman 1984 are both men. And it’s a shame. The least I was expecting was for the heroine to actually fulfill the role of hero here. I kept hoping that perhaps Barbara Ann Minerva (Wiig) would come to her senses and team up with Wonder Woman to vanquish Lord and set the world straight. But instead, Chris Pine‘s character sacrifices himself again enabling the world to be saved. And Pedro Pascal’s ”villain”? He comes to his senses and abdicates his evil power (of.......granting...wishes?!?) to be a good dad to his kid. Which kind of sucked the wind out of this mess of a movie altogether. The villain turns out to be a huge nothingburger. One can’t help but think moviegoers everywhere deserve a better movie than this. But women and girls definitely deserve better written characters to believe in. Characters who are fully realized women who can stand and fall on their own. And those characters deserve better plots in which to exist. Expand

Dull, tedious & boring are the only adjectives to describe it. Almost no action for an hour. No character development but it hardly matters as you don't care about anyone, not even Wonder Woman. As good as the original was that's how bad WW84 is. It's like watching paint dry. The same scene was repeated over and over until the audience makes a wish that the movie projector would break so to put us all out of our misery. The action scenes were comical without any suspense whatsoever. If you suffer from insomnia then this is the movie for you. The only good news is that no studio in their right mind would ever make another sequel. Avoid at all costs. You've been warned. Expand

It is by far the most ridiculous superhero movie I've ever witnessed and my first "zero" I've awarded to any movie on Metacritic. This thing doesn't even follow basic logic. Characters instantly have complex abilities and knowledge such as one character who is a stick and rudder pilot who somehow instantly can fly highly complex jets. Diana is now endowed with every ability of literally every superhero in the DC universe. Superman flight - check, immune to bullets - check (no need for the wrist bands anymore, just impervious), instant unlimited invisibility - check and so on. In addition Diana's rope is now endowed with literally all the powers of Thors hammer - and more. What's worse is almost every male character in this movie is either a moron, tyrant, sexist, pervert or worse. Just imagine for a moment how a man hating zealot might perceive the male gender - well this movie repeatedly, over and over and over highlights every negative male stereotype. The team that put together this trainwreck should never be allowed to make movies again. They literally dump on 90% of the audience. Expand

The original Wonder Woman was a mediocre offering from DC Movies that got a lot of undeserved praise. The follow up Wonder Woman 1984 makes the previous movie look like a masterpiece in comparison. Where do I even begin?

This is a movie that straight up fires cringe after cringe without any pause to think if it's even worth it? The story is typical "be careful what you wish for" we've seen done to death. The CGI is just awful and has a lot of uncanny valley effect that straight up makes some scenes look like it's from an old 2008 video game. The plot is so riddled with plot holes and nonsensical cringe that it makes Bollywood movies look good. This movie is awful. Every single person involved in this movie should feel bad for making such an awful movie. This bloated mess is 2.5 hours long so prepare to suffer watching this mess.

Honestly, I was one of the ones who was starting to forgetAnticipation it's keeping me waiting but now it's here. It took so long for Wonder Woman 1984 (WW84) to be released everyone either forgot about it or was sitting on pins and needles. Honestly, I was one of the ones who was starting to forget that this movie was even coming out until the news that it was coming to HBO Max. So you know I had to check it out on the Christmas weekend. Would this sequel live up to the hype of first movie? Or will it be forgotten in the utter mess that 2020 and Pandemic world has left us in?

I'm going to keep it simple as possible with WW84 and that's hard to do with a film that was all over the place. WW84 was a jumbled, slightly boring, unfocused mess. When I say "mess", I don't mean because the movie was horrible, I mean "mess" because the movie was just very average compared to the anticipation. I've only seen and heard people say this movie was "meh", "bad", "boring" or "good". I'm was quite frankly baffled at that range but not after viewing the movie. I understand that most of this angst comes from the viewers and reviewers because the first movie was just so focused and detailed. WW84 had promise but, just like Tenet, it suffered from "you're doing too much" disease. Yet strangely, WW84 also didn't do quite enough, and for a movie that runs for 2 hours and 26 minutes that's quite a feat. The movie looked pretty good but also didn't give us the magic from the first movie. Except you, Gal Gadot, you are magical to look at. The dialogue was basic even though Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal did their best to keep it interesting. Side note, K. Wiig gave Gal a run for her good looking money for a minute there in the movie. But let me focus, don't get me started on the action. There was nothing new and the cool points of the trailer were so trivial and minimal in the actual movie. It seems like they forgot this was a super hero movie because there was way too little action for a long movie like this. Either give us more action or make the action you have so dope it's memorable, but they found a way to do neither. It was only a little taste here and a little taste there but that's about it. It's honestly like the whole creative team were all on different pages for this movie and the editing couldn't save the final product. The puzzle was already configured and the pieces clearly weren't in the right spots. I mean for goodness sake there wasn't even a real villain in the movie. Come on DC! You're already lagging behind in the movie franchise world, you cannot fumble the ball like this after such a good first film just a few years ago.

With all of that said, the movie really is just an average super hero flick. There is some entertainment with action but the length of the movie and the unfocused narrative lead to the movie feeling boring and inconsequential. If I'd paid for this in the theater, I'd be pretty upset but as a streaming options, it's not a reason to get HBO MAX but if you already have the app you can stream it if you're bored with a handful of popcorn.

Lackluster movie that even gal gadot or pedro pascal cant save. The 80s style is boring and not well executed. The story is blend and also the shots are not well crafted. I already fear jenkins starwars flick :-( sad!
