Really enjoyed this movie you can really feel the fun the director had making this movie.
Some cheesy moments, but these added to the tone set in the 80s...
Some CGI was a bit off though.

Why is everyone so down on this film? Don't get me wrong it has many flaws but I thought it was overall pretty good. I think the movie has a good message in letting go of the past and not letting it bring you down. The action was pretty good,Why is everyone so down on this film? The action was pretty good, but I did feel like a certain fight near the end could have been longer. I thought all the characters were pretty good but the standout is Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord. He felt menacing while also being an interesting character. With all that being said there are some flaws. After you watch the movie you will have questions about things that were never explained, or you may feel bored during the first 30 minutes. This movie doesn't feel original as well. It just feels like another crammed out superhero movie we will forget about in a couple of days. Overall I really enjoyed myself while watching this movie but I can't deny that it has some flaws. I give it a 7.5/10 and B-.… Expand

Certainly not perfect but a wonderful (sic) adventure where we see no real villain and the hero is truly heroic rather than just a cheesy badass.

With the negatives in the the characters being caused by character flaws, lust or fear of failing their child or losing the one they love the movie immediately adds more thought than the average comic book movie where the baddie is the baddie because that's just what they are.

In this the baddie is flawed and with temptation those flaws threaten to destroy them and all they love. It's not black and white clarity which some might have a problem with, along with the fanastical events that follow.

If you can step out of your conventional mind and go with the flow, appreciate the sentiments of the film you'll get a lot out of it. But if you just want to see Wonder Woman be a badass CGI monster puncher you're going to be disappointed.… Expand

I got to watch Wonder Woman 1984 on 17th of December on an IMAX screen, and I was blown away by it! It is a pure popcorn flick! It’s unique and has a style that I love. Gal Gadot has proved us that her acting skills are exceptional! Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord is a cunning villain and has a style that resonates with the ’80s very well and is one of the film's highlights! Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah was character-driven and had pure rawness towards the end, even though I would’ve liked to see her be explored more. This movie is directed so that it looks similar to the 80s film and TV and some people may fail to see it that way. I loved this movie! Gadot and Pine are a match made in superhero-cinema heaven. The addition of Wiig and especially Pascal are beyond welcome! The villains are so much better this time around. Best DCEU movie so far! In my opinion it transcends the first movie in almost every way. It's definitely a superhero movie with the most heart. And damn that third act. That finale was one of the most heartfelt finale I've ever watched in any movie. It was what I hoped the first one's finale was going to be. All and all, must watch!… Expand

The pacing is all over the place and I definitely understand why some people would be disappointed from the lack of action in the movie, it’s justifiable since in the first movie there was ALOT and the Trailer implied there was going to beThe pacing is all over the place and I definitely understand why some people would be disappointed from the lack of action in the movie, it’s justifiable since in the first movie there was ALOT and the Trailer implied there was going to be some too, yet I am also disappointed.

My usual excuse if comic book movies end up being meh is that the writers had no choice but to follow similar stories to the comics and that restrained them

Yet, cheetah and Lord Maxwell’s origin stories are in no way similar than theirs in the comics.
But I guess the writers were forced to find a way to bring cheetah’s and Maxwell’s origin stories together with some sort of element that wouldn’t necessitate any strong comic book knowledge for viewers that aren’t very familiar with the DC world. And that element the “Dreamstone”
And I do enjoy the Dreamstone and it’s place in the story. I definitely thought the narrative that we should sometimes just let some things go was good.

Despite the odd pacing and lack of action which is extremely difficult to ignore, the movie was OK, but definitely not better than the first one

Miscellaneous:

• impressed by Kristen Wiig’s performance • some people were trying to find a parallel between Lord Maxwell and Trump, I don’t think there was any, a failing businessman with blond hair doesn’t mean there’s any direct link, it’s not that hard to find that in movies
• The whole 80s nostalgia element was sufficient, people are sincerely complaining that there wasn’t enough and I don’t get why… Expand

It’s nowhere near as good as the first film, But it’s nowhere near as bad as critics and fans say it is. Yes there are quite of bit of parts that are sloppily written and ridiculous, But it’s still quite fun in my opinion.

I don't read comics. I watched WW1984 during the HBO reveal. I realize the movie isn't great but I did enjoy watching it. I am a Kristen Wiig fan, so I was curious about her performance in a movie that isn't a comedy. I thought she did well.I don't read comics. I watched WW1984 during the HBO reveal. I realize the movie isn't great but I did enjoy watching it. I am a Kristen Wiig fan, so I was curious about her performance in a movie that isn't a comedy. I thought she did well. I don't think the movie deserves these harsh scores. Maybe the movie insults the comic content(industry)--I don't know. I enjoyed the effects and the actors. I give it a 7 because I think it was better than mediocre.… Expand

I loved it, it was well made and full of surprises. The movie is a bit light on action but I am sure that was the point. It seems They where making a lover wonder woman movie not a warrior one like the first. 7.9/10

Diana seems to weigh nothing, floating through the air and landing lightly when she wants to. Most of the plot points come without motivation or setup. Just idea > payoff. Again and again, so it lacks depth.

The trailer pretty much shows the entire movie, so if you want to you could watch that and call it a day, but I'd say watch it and don't think too hard. It will not reward you for deep thinking.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before I start to talk about the movie, I have to say that I really enjoyed it. It was beautifully shot, the action scenes were well done, unfortunately they had some problems of which I'm going to talk about a bit later. Overall this is a decent movie with sadly, a mediocre and cliched plot. Personally I would say that you should lower your expectations, and a lot.
Now let's talk about movie's highlights and problems. Let's start with the highlights. As I said before, this movie is beautiful, and especially the opening scene in Themyscira. This scene took my breath away. It was beautifully shot, beautifully created and overall nailed its messenge about truth and greatness. I liked how movie showed Diana's loneliness. Gal Gadot's acting was very convincing and she continues embody Wonder Woman perfectly. Chris Pine did also an amazing job bringing back our beloved Steve. Kristine Wiig and Pedro Pascal were perfectly casted as the villains. I think that the third act was better than og WW's one. Cheetah's CGI was good, and it looked nothing like Cats.
Now about the flaws. In the beginning of my review, I said that the action scenes were well done, however I can't ignore the fact that they were pretty cheesy and kinda cartoonish, especially the scene in the mall, which was very disappointing since I was expecting completely different thing. I also found myself to notice a few weird cuts here and there in the action scenes. The CGI was overall great, but there were moments when it looked ridiculously terrible, like Diana's running scene. The scene flet completely out of place, and you could clearly see that it's green screen. The pacing was both bad and good. The first half was boring, stupid and too long. However, the second half fixed it with action sequences. At the end, I want to say that it is a decent movie, not good nor terrible. It had some pretty good action and emotional scenes, however it left me wanting more than I got. Here's a small summary of pros and cons: Pros

- Great cinematography, especially opening sequence in Themyscira.
- 80's feel, it really felt like a movie from the 80's. - Gal Gadot was outstanding as Wonder Woman. She continues to embody the character perfectly. - Chris Pine did an amazing job as Steve Trevor. His character was like a fish out of water, and he nailed it. - Kristine Wiig was great as Barbara and Cheeth. She nailed the transformation from loving and shy Barbara to ruthless and cold Cheetah. - Pedro Pascal was great as Max Lord, however he got too much screen time.
- Action scenes were short and there were four of them in total, but they were amazing and well choreographed. - Movie succeeded in delivering its message. Cons

- Despite CGI being great, there were some scenes where it was horrible. Especially Diana's running and flying scenes. - Plot was very mediocre, cheesy and boring. - There were a lot of cheesy moments. Action scenes had this strange cartoonish style.
- Action scenes were short, their length was about 2-3 minutes. - Emotional moments weren't convincing enough. - Too much talking during the fight scenes. - 1st half was boring, 2nd tried to fix it. - Max Lord had too much screen time, movie should've focused more on Diana. - Cheetah's hate towards Diana was never explained properly. Yeah, she wanted to be like Diana, but the end she started to hate her for no reason.
- Movie left me wanting more, which is a bad thing.

I really liked this movie. Even though I had to watch it from home, it was just what we all need right now. A new movie and one that has a great message in these crazy times. Loved the cameos at the end!

Amazing, inspiring and fresh. What we need in this terrible year 2020. It may not go beyond its first part, but it is certainly a great movie in which "The 80's" screams all over the place.

Before I start this I feel the need to say that a fair bit of the criticism this film is copping is probably due to people going into it expecting a nice piece of Hollywood escapism from the **** showWonder Woman 1984 Spoiler Free Review:

Before I start this I feel the need to say that a fair bit of the criticism this film is copping is probably due to people going into it expecting a nice piece of Hollywood escapism from the **** show that is 2020. But instead, we got a story that was an attempt to say something about the times we lived in before Covid (despite popular belief blockbuster films featuring a little social commentary not just action sequences are hardly a new thing)

So the themes of greed, excess and putting our own needs and desires above others as well as the greater good featured in the film just don’t hit home the same way as it would have.

However, at the same time some of the criticism is well founded. The plot is a bit long winded and honestly the kind of stuff the filmmakers wanted to say could have been said in a far less roundabout way. I fear perhaps the filmmakers and the studio added so much filler that added nothing to the story in order to try and avoid backlash from the “STOP LECTURING US AND JUST BLOW STUFF UP” crowd.

The character motivations and arks in the film (outside of Max Lord) also felt a little underdeveloped and the way Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman behaves like a lovesick women unable to function without the man she was in love with comes off as kind of pathetic. If they were trying to sell it as undying love they pretty much failed. It doesn’t exactly scream girl power!

The way they set up Steve Trevor’s return as well as the plot device to sell the films themes seems a bit lazy. But I guess they were just going for a good old fashioned MacGuffin fuelled adventure.

However, with all that being said there is still PLENTY of things to like about the film. The acting performances are all pretty good.
Gal Gadot proves once again that she was the perfect choice to play Wonder Woman. Chris Pine is as charming as ever as Steve Trevor and his fish out of water routine proves to be just as funny as Gal Gadot’s from the first film.

Pedro Pascal does a great job with the character of Max Lord turning him into a more sympathetic villain. Ditto for Kristin Wigg who was everyone’s last choice to play Cheetah. In fact, it seems like the Director Patty Jenkins was trying to pull a page out of the book of Tim Burton Batman films by focusing on the villains and how they become evil. I quite enjoyed that.

There is also some pretty cool action sequences in the film despite some saying there wasn’t enough. But like the first film...the CGI was pretty bad.

All in all, while far from a bad movie it definitely doesn’t reach the same heights as the first Wonder Woman film. But I still think it’s a perfectly enjoyable popcorn flick all things considered.… Expand
