An ackwardly written story, with no direction and some some special effects thrown into a blender to create a wonder slushy. I have a hard time finding anything positive about it, help me out here.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok, let’s just get to it. Wonder Woman 1984 is trash. I’m gonna break it down. We start off at a mall scene(gonna skip the childhood scene cuz that doesn’t matter), the visuals were D grade, like a movie out of the 2000s, and the acting was TERRIBLE. Wonder Woman shows up to basically rescue hostage from a couple guys who stole from a jewelry store/black market. and the editing just destroyed this clip. We barely see her fight, we just see guys get thrown across the room( it’s her but we don’t even see it, it cuts off before we see hits land), and it makes this scene atrocious. That was the beginning. And I kid u not after this scene, we don’t see ANY Wonder Woman action whatsoever for a STRAIGHT HOUR and some change, which makes the movie boring asf. It’s just people talking and more All Men Are Trash bullcrap. Minerva is depicted as the nerd, invisible girl who never gets any attention, which was fine, but this totally gets wrecked later in the movie, when we see her with Max Lord.Then Steve got butchered so hard his character was a complete dumbass he BARELY had a role, like he was there cuz he’s Wonder Woman’s boyfriend. And then the concept of the Dreamstone( which gave Maxwell Lord his powers) was supposed to be similar to the monkey’s paw philosophy( be careful what you wish for) and even THAT was trash, because if you want to end it all you have to do is “denounce your wish” which thins the plot and makes it WAY too simple. Then the next time we see Wonder Woman is on a road with a bunch of tanks, where we discover her powers are getting weaker because of her “wish” from the stone to bring Trevor back. The editing in that scene is even worse. At least in Man of Steel we see the actor lift cars which makes the scene more dynamic. There’s NONE of that here. We don’t even see Wonder Woman land any hits because it always cuts away, even when she supposedly pushes one of the tanks. The scene executions were HORRIBLE. Then we pick up at the White House and Minerva has a copy set of Diana’s abilities( because of wish to be like her) then we see her protecting Lord for BO other reason than a simple crush. Like BRUH HUH???. Literally beats the crap out of Diana for a man she barely met. Like what??????? Then the plot was so confusing we go to Egypt and Puerto Rico and stuff like that, and it was just shriveled. So we pick up at the “climax”, where Minerva wishes to be an apex predator hence the Cheetah. Now Max DEFINITELY had inspiration from Trump, especially with his podium scene, and they didn’t even try to HIDE it. Literal garbage. So now we are at the point where Diana is traveling to the base of Max, after she denounces her wish, and we get a cringe goodbye from Trevor. She starts swinging on clouds, falling with style, and then of all of a sudden she starts FLYING. How? WE DONT KNOW… Expand

Diabolically bad. I had high Hope's for this movie after the first one but this movie is so bad I actually felt angry after watching it. It is a complete disjointed mess. Terrible plot, script and cgi euhhhh.

Having seen she’s been chosen as the next director of a Star Wars movie I was interested to see what Patty Jenkins did with Wonder Woman. I couldn’t be more disappointed if I tried. And if a man did what wonder woman did to her “boyfriend”, you better believe it would be called rape. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wonder Woman fights two people in this movie, one guy who grants wishes and a cat girl(?). There are so many mistakes in the movie that I wonder if the writer was a grown-up. First of all, the worst villain ever cames from this movie. Explaining the concept of the "wish guy": he thouches a wish stone and say he wants to BE the wish stone. So people who touches him can make a wish and it becomes true. Looks great at first, but eventually the guy does just like Jim Carrey in Bruce Almighty. But instead of ruining Buffalo, the villain here ruins the world! Even after he sees a chaos bad enough AND big enough, he keeps going, like he didn't care about the consequences. The reason of it? I don't know... If you understand that, please tell me! That being said, let's begin the other insane mistakes of WW84. Diana wishes to be with her romantic partner from the first movie, who has died. So for the wish becomes true the writer came up with a "realistic" solution (but end it up being insane instead). The "great" solution was to put the mind of the dead caracter in the body of a random dude. (What happened with the real guy's mind? His consciousness was trapped in a dark place for I don't know how long? Really?) My question is, if the concept of the movie is not realistic, if a woman during the film becomes a tiger person, if the jet becomes invisible, if so many insane things happened, what was the problem with making the dead guy appears from nowhere? The Jet? Oh yeah, the invisible jet happens (Wow) but everything about this part is laughable! First of all it gets invisible and it disappears from the radar. Seriously? No-one around though about the concept of the radar? It flies just as fast as a normal plane. (Wtf?) Not to mention the jet was already filled up, laing on the airport for no reason. Watch and take your conclusion, or your laugh. Oh, I remembered more wishes problems. At first, each person can only do one wish ever, than, the second villain was able to do a second wish, for pure convenience of the movie (just a few scenes before one guy was anable to make a wish because he has already made one in the morning hahaha) The concept is that you need to touch the villain to get your wish done, right? Well, not at all... By pure convenience again, this is forgotten or changed (maybe it was explained but I didn't care for). Even so, no reason is plausible for changing this "rule". Oh, I just remembered Wonder Woman whispering in the floor, with no mic, in the back of a TV scenario and her voice beeing transmitted either way HAHAHAH. The biggest mistake of the movie, in my opinion, happened lasting like 40 or 50 minutes. The bad guy TOUCHES the good guy AND SAYS: WHAT DO YOU WANT? I swear to God that I pause the movie right there to think about it. I couldn't believe the script made this villain THAT stupid. But than I looked at the screen and realized that this wasn't the end, because it had 40 or 50 minutes afterward... I'm sad for this scene untill now. (I watched 5 months ago) A lot of other mistakes are visible by anyone, I'm not going to do that. I wish I could tell them all, but I got something to do... a week from now.… Expand

One of the worst movies of all time. Dull, tedious & boring are the only adjectives to describe it. Almost no action for an hour. I was excited and looking forward to this movie but then I saw it. It is by far the most ridiculous superhero movie I've ever witnessed and my first "zero" I've awarded to any movie on Metacritic. This thing doesn't even follow basic logic.I was excited and looking forward to this movie but then I saw it. It is by far the most ridiculous superhero movie I've ever witnessed and my first "zero" I've awarded to any movie on Metacritic. This thing doesn't even follow basic logic. Characters instantly have complex abilities and knowledge such as one character who is a stick and rudder pilot who somehow instantly can fly highly complex jets. Diana is now endowed with every ability of literally every superhero in the DC universe. Superman flight - check, immune to bullets - check (no need for the wrist bands anymore, just impervious), instant unlimited invisibility - check and so on. In addition Diana's rope is now endowed with literally all the powers of Thors hammer - and more. What's worse is almost every male character in this movie is either a moron, tyrant, sexist, pervert or worse. Just imagine for a moment how a man hating zealot might perceive the male gender - well this movie repeatedly, over and over and over highlights every negative male stereotype. The team that put together this trainwreck should never be allowed to make movies again. They literally dump on 90% of the audience.… Expand

A movie that will immediately relieve your nostalgia for theaters. I feel so much less sad about our area cineplexes being closed for COVID. Now that I think about it, most movies even before COVID made me feel that way.

She wasn't Wonder Woman at all until the last scene of the movie. No healing factor, she getting her ass kicked the whole movie until the end when she puts on the cheesey armor and her flight looks like something out of an old superman movie you can practically see the green screen throughout. Xmen origins wolverine was a better movie, all fantastic four movies were even better. I was a huge fan of the first Wonder Woman with Gale Gadot but this was LITERALLY trash, Class-b straight to DVD at best. Looks like the whole movie was shot in a garage… Expand

But this movie was able to surpass the first one. They took the Shazam idea of a childish hero/universe and put it into this one with a naive hero. The first action scene, in the mall... come one! The CGI scenes were garbage. Why did she use the whip to swing in the lightning if she learned how to fly? How can a scientist borrow an item that the FBI asked for analysis without any concern about it? How could a scientist come with an inference about an ancient artifact without further tests, just guessing that is fake by looking at it? How could a real hero maintain no real concern about the life and consciousness of the one who her lover took the body to swing around? How could a real hero steal an airplane? The whole movie is a real mess.

The movie has a narrative structure of the 2000s superhero movies. It's shallow, a crap story only to justify a bunch of corny and horrible action scenes. The first was terrible but this one was able to vanquish it.… Expand

Let's look at all these bad plot points. There's a magic wishing stone that drives everything about the movie. Woman womans invisible jet, steve trevors return, cheetah, maxwell lord. There's no c haracter development, just a deux ex machina that makes everything. And there's no answer as to how maxwell knows so much about the stone. Characters jujmp from one set to another with no real understanding. Steve Trevor, from 1942, Can drive a car from the 80s ,a modern age plane and seems aware of everything going on. It's like captain america if it was written by a 6-yerar old. Wonder woman, for 40 years doesn't see anyone else. She just waits for a man. And are we going to talk about the life of the man he took. Did he have ajob? If he were a woman, wouldn't we say somthing that she's having non consientual sex . And why is this movie 2 and a half hours. This plot meanders. We don't learn anythinig that changes the plot in the last half of the movie.… Expand

It's the perfect combination of "fall asleep" boredom, "laugh out loud" stupidity, and "check your phone as a distraction" cringe. As for the action? I can't decide if it compares better to Superman 3 or Superman 4, but its right at those levels of hilarious cartoonish-ness. After the first 30 minutes, you will be checking the timer over and over to see how much of the movie is left, and by the time the never-ending climax rolls around you'll be begging for someone to put you out of your misery.… Expand

A sequel that should never have been made.

The first WW film was awful. I say that as someone who is as adamant of a supporter of DC as you will find. WW84 takes a stupid name, puts it in a terrible (but trendy) era, butchers that era,A sequel that should never have been made.

The first WW film was awful. I say that as someone who is as adamant of a supporter of DC as you will find. WW84 takes a stupid name, puts it in a terrible (but trendy) era, butchers that era, butchers the characters, disregards plot, pacing and logic and effectively leaves an infantilized version of WW wrapped in a misandrist sheen.

It is following the same path of the original in that it is again pushing that awful Disney model for super hero films and distilling the source material to golden books level of childrens stories. There is nothing worth watching here. One minute you will find yourself rolling your eyes at how goofy the plot and dialogue is and the next you will find yourself agitated at how sexist and intolerant the production is. Even as a woman you should be upset because its pandering, disrespectful, and condescending. Sort of like Hillary Clinton expecting all women to vote for her just because she is female. So too does WW2 expect you to swoon and cheer for a "bad ass woman" just because you are a woman without actually representing women for the focus on negative stereotypes as reality.

Yet what is the most unforgivable sin is that when you put all the parts together its just boring. I seriously had to watch the film at x1.45 speed and it was so slowly paced it felt like it was normal run time. Thats not really an issue that its a female centric film. Its a problem with the character and its one shared with her DC counterpart, Superman. The character is essentially an idealized version of a woman but has no tangible flaws. She is unrelatable down to her DNA. They somehow managed to find a way of dragging it out and making it worse. This is further compounded by the heinous mistake of putting the role in the hands of Gal Gadot.

Granted, she tries her best and she does turn in a better performance this time around, that is still a low, low bar. The awful israeli accent has been considerably been thinned out this time around to where she is at least comprehensible, its still incorrect and that thick accent makes it all that much harder to connect to the protagonist. Its like trying to watch the recent Macbeth that stayed true to the original language and left the whole thing mostly unwatchable.

For all its sins the most grievous of which is the single dumbest ending of any super hero film ever made. All of this is inexcusable considering they have had the film ready to go for most of 2020. They kept pushing it back simply trying to wait it out for theatrical release. That means they had extra months to review the product, do focus testing and know that it was absolutely awful. Yet they went ahead and released it anyway. No one could see this and not know it is going to flop.

So yet again an unacceptable excuse for a WW movie. Had it not been another attempt at cloning Disney into DC it could have mustered as high as maybe a 3/10. Otherwise with the misandry and Disney model being the core foundation of the film it EARNS 0/10… Expand

I have rarely seen a more silly and pointless movie than this one. If you think you can't do worse than Alex Kurtzman's Star Trek, Wonder Woman 1984 will prove you wrong. Characters and plot are implausible and make no sense. The film doesn't build up any suspense, nor do you get the feeling that the world is on the brink and it needs a superhero to save it. One wonders how Pedro Pascal as an actor could get lost in such a production. Chris Pine's character adds nothing to the plot. Gal Gadot has no charisma. The film doesn't even offer well-done action sequences. Wonder Woman 1984 falls miles short of Zack Snyder's other DC productions.… Expand

There are far too many to list but in the first 10 minutes alone you will see the worst CGI of the past decade (Raimi's Spiderman was better), a weird effort to incorporate slapstick elements aimed at small children, pantomime level reaction-acting from supporting cast and extras, and for some reason Wonder Woman trying to be both Spiderman (swinging form 'webs') and Captain America (throwing her decidedly non-aerodynamic tiara). Superhero movies are supposed to be outlandish but this seems to have been made by someone who didn't grow up reading comics (including Diana's long and complex history) but rather had them explained to her by a studio executive.… Expand

This is a movie that straight up fires cringe after cringe without any pause to think if it's even worth it? The story is typical "be careful what you wish for" we've seen done to death. The CGI is just awful and has a lot of uncanny valley effect that straight up makes some scenes look like it's from an old 2008 video game. The plot is so riddled with plot holes and nonsensical cringe that it makes Bollywood movies look good. This movie is awful. Every single person involved in this movie should feel bad for making such an awful movie. This bloated mess is 2.5 hours long so prepare to suffer watching this mess.… Expand

An entire 30 minutes of this movie is basically just Islamophobic, pro Israeli state propaganda. The only Muslim character in this entire movie just happens to be an evil warlord, who wishes for, and I quote, "For all the heathens to be kept out forever." It wouldn't be so bad if the movie just played into this stereotype one time, pandering to the American Muslim scare that's been a thing since 9/11 is something Hollywood loves to do, but it gets worse. In one of the following scenes, Wonder Woman, played by former IDF Gal Gadot, swoops in to save a group of little kids from the evil Egyptian soldiers who of course would never stop or try to avoid the kids, because this movie portrays every single Muslim in it as inhuman. It's not done though; when Lord asks everyone to make a wish, the movie cuts to another Muslim (he's not even a character in the movie, he just has 4 seconds of screentime) and his wish you ask? He wishes for bombs, because of course he does, because Hollywood only cares about representation and avoiding stereotypes when it lines their pockets. Is any of this really a surprise considering this movie stars a literal war criminal?… Expand
