I have already seen the movie and it's "EPIC". They did such an amazing job on converting a franchise I love into such an incredible movie, as well as breaking the video game movie curse. Not only was it broken, it was shattered. The movieI have already seen the movie and it's "EPIC". They did such an amazing job on converting a franchise I love into such an incredible movie, as well as breaking the video game movie curse. Not only was it broken, it was shattered. The movie has everything in it so that fans as well as those that have never played any of the Warcraft games can enjoy the experience of seeing this movie. Don't listen to mainstream critics. IF you like high fantasy, chances are you will like this movie. You don't need knowledge of the games to enjoys this movie.

I don't play the game but I absolutely loved the movie!!! It's was so real, although the orcs were animated they didn't look like it. You couldn't even tell the difference between the animated and non animated. Everything meshed so perfectly,I don't play the game but I absolutely loved the movie!!! It's so weird. How come critics rate this movie 30/100 while "normal" people rate it 8.6/10?
It's a great movie!

If you haven't seen it yet GO NOW. It was really damn good. If you have any doubts crush them now, it seems like the only gripes critics had were literally only in the first 35 mins yes the pacing was kinda funky in the beginning and some ofIf you haven't seen it yet GO NOW. If you have any doubts crush them now, it seems like the only gripes critics had were literally only in the first 35 mins yes the pacing was kinda funky in the beginning and some of the acting was a bit off but ONLY in that first 35 mins, while watching the movie I was thinking that literally maybe the critics didn't even watch the whole film and cut it off halfway because mid way thru the movie picks up and has really cool moments. The action scenes were brutal, the visuals were stunning and I even really liked the costumes and the set pieces yes they do look a little "cartoonish" but that's how the game looks! It's the perfect take on Warcraft the game and it leaves me wanting more. I want a sequel. Go support this movie don't pirate it don't stream it go buy a ticket and watch this film you will not be disappointed I promise you. It was the first time in a while I got up off my ass to the movie theater to watch a movie only other movie I saw this year was Star Wars and before that it had been years since I'd seen a movie in theaters. It's worth your time and money.… Expand

Wow, what a moviegoing experience. The film had a budget of $160m, and it really showed. The CGI was well done just like Blizzard's famous game trailers. The action was also well done, considering human actors were battling CGI orcs (thoughWow, what a moviegoing experience. The film had a budget of $160m, and it really showed. The CGI was well done just like Blizzard's famous game trailers. The action was also well done, considering human actors were battling CGI orcs (though the humans often became CGI after putting their greathelms on). The environments were stunning. The overhead shots of great capital cities like Stormwind and the floating city of Dalaran were impressively detailed. The magicians' spells looked much better than Gandolf the Grey. The wolves, horses, and gryphons also looked spectacular. Overall, the movie was visually epic.

The plot hewed closely to the original Warcraft video game's plot--which was a good thing, IMO. Due to the 2 hour time constraint, the movie moved at a dizzying speed and tried to cram in as much as possible. In the trade off between remaining authentic to the source material and cutting things to make the movie more watchable, Duncan Jones chose the former. And thank God he did. Fanboys of the world rejoice.

A lot of casual references were made to Azeroth's characters and lore that required intimate knowledge of the game. When characters casually referenced the Redridge Mountains, Goldshire, Blackrock Mountain, Deadwind Pass, etc., I possessed a detailed knowledge of exactly what they were talking about (having ventured there many times myself), whereas casual babbies prob got confused. Same thing with all the names--Gul'dan, Medivh, Lothar--you get the picture. Same thing even with the jokes. Example--murlocs were considered a humorous enemy in World of Warcraft that made a distinctive gargling sound when attacked--the exact same audio recordings were used in the movie, which caused me to Løl Wüt.

Some parts of the movie were predictable and uninteresting. A certain character died midway through. This elicited zero emotional response from me. I gathered early on that the only reason for that particular character's existence was to be slain to add emotional oomph to the movie. Judging from the music, the movie makers intended that scene to be quite dramatic. It failed entirely. But overall I was on the edge of my seat throughout.

I loved the atmosphere at the theater--fanboys shouted "For the Horde!" at various intervals, and I of course responded with cries of "For the Alliance!" I definitely recommend seeing this one in IMAX 3D. It's the only way to do such a fantastic film justice.… Expand

The movie is awesome. It's a introduction film for a series. They present new characters and there is a constant felling that there is lots more to come. Also, if you ever heard about the first game, Warcraft I you should check it.

A great movie for fans of the series, and non fans alike.

It's evident that the focus here was to create movie based on the Warcraft universe for the fans of the series. That being said, I saw this with fans and non fans alike, andA great movie for fans of the series, and non fans alike.

Blizzard has done a great job bringing their Warcraft series to life on the big screen and has not to cashed in on the popular name like other video game movie titles, well worth the watch!

This is exactly the movie that I was hoping blizzard would make and it is worth a watch whether you're a fan of Warcraft or not, despite what most critics write.… Expand

I am a huge fan of Warcraft; played it for 11 years, I have a tattoo related to him and I met my husband playing it.. So I approached the movie with some fear.

As a WoW fan I think this is an amazing movie and it is made for the fans. Ive never even played the game, The movie is not hard to lollow, and is very entertaining. I will but it on DVD. Forget about listening to the stuffy critics on this one. Warcraft is the kind of movie that I was expecting from Hobbit !!!

This is the film i've been waiting for since falling in love with Warcraft: Orcs and Humans in 1994. All of my expectations were met or exceeded and the movie and characters were spectacular. I came out of the theater absolutely thrilled. IThis is the film i've been waiting for since falling in love with Warcraft: Orcs and Humans in 1994. All of my expectations were met or exceeded and the movie and characters were spectacular. I came out of the theater absolutely thrilled. I Don't usually give films 10/10 but this did not leave me wanting for anything at all. There was some modifications of how events happened from game cannon but each major plot point was attained as in cannon despite the method of that delivery often being abbreviated as films must often do. Critic reviews seem really harsh. A lot of them compare it to other fantasy films or the bible and criticize its set up for a sequel but at the same time they seem mostly ignorant that this is a movie version of a high fantasy game whose story continues for several more games. It's meant to be tragic and full of fantastic visuals. Its FANTASY after all and I think it succeeded marvelously to that end. Seeing this film in 3D is a must.… Expand

Really enjoyed the film. The kids liked it, also, though much was over the heads of my 5 and 7 year olds. My husband is a big fan of the Warcraft series and enjoyed World of Warcraft quite a bit. I never did get the whole storyline with the orcs so seeing it in this format was really fantastic. It wasn't campy. It wasn't over the top dramatic. It was just right. Still not seeing how people could have not enjoyed it or panned it except that they were expecting something wholly different so to them, it's like expecting a sip of coke but instead taking a sip of your friend's Dr. Pepper and thinking you just had rotten coke laced with fly goo. That's all I got for why people would maybe not enjoy it because really, it's got everything you would want in a fantasy driven video game film.… Expand

This film as itself is simply beautiful in a lot of aspects; the visuals, the music, the story, the direction, the acting, actions sequences, I mean as a whole this film is just a work of passion, art and with a heart at its core. I don't know how can this amazing story comes from a video game, and I really don't care. All I care is to say that this film is worth watching and enjoying. And it deserves positive recognition. The script is unexpectedly self-conscious. Although it pits humans into battle against yet another monster species, we're allowed to observe both sides on equal footing. Both factions have their motives, their good and bad guys - we learn what's at stake for all of them. Not only it makes harder for the audience to pick sides, it makes for a more thrilling viewing as well. The attention to detail was spectacular, exciting and well-crafted story.… Expand

Los críticos no tienen ni idea de que hablan, esta película ha sido de lo mejor que hemos tenido sobre videojuegos en los últimos tiempos, tomarse tan enserio el universo del juego, según los críticos es lo peor de la película, pero para nosotros los Fans, quienes de verdad deberíamos decidir si es buena película o no, pensamos que ha sido lo que la ha hecho tan buena, bien adaptada, grandes efectos, la mejor adaptación de la trama de los Warcraft (No de WoW, otro error de los críticos ha sido pensar que la historia es de WoW) muy recomendable, me encanta que haya sido un éxito en taquilla, porque espero una secuela de la película sobre otro de los videojuegos, y no mintamos, el universo de Warcraft tiene tanta historia que da para mas de una trilogía de películas, ojalá podamos disfrutar otra joya tan bien hecha como esta.

The CGI is really impressive , the story is well written , even i did not know all the things (i'm pretty sure i should have to read one of the books the understand all of this ) but you are carried through the story with more than enough knowledge to understand the movie.
The characters are living and you really feel something for them , that's rare !
The plot , plot twist and 2nd plot twist ; ho , my, god !

I want to know what happen next !!!

Really , it's a shame it is a movie, because you could honestly do a really good TV series like Game of Thrones.

Warcraft is an amazing fantasy spectacle. Movie's director Duncan Jones has managed to perfectly captured the essence of Warcraft, taking all that makes the renowned video game so great and adapting it to a format suitable for big screen. Even humor is there and it's not over the top.

In its core Warcraft is a character driven movie. While on the bigger scale the movie is about conflict between forces of good and evil each character has their own motivations and personal struggles. During the movie it becomes evident that lines are not as clear cut as it seems at first glance. It's a great story of conflict and tragedy.

The plot is made easier to understand for those unfamiliar with source material. The movie tells you most of the things you need to know while subtly hinting there's more to that and old fans can pick up those familiar clues. Attention to detail is just uncanny - there are probably hundreds of Easter eggs woven into the movie but none of them are distractive for the uninitiated.

The story is amongst some of the most faithful ones to source material ever seen on the big screen. There are changes but none are so major as to change the overall story, some are purely cosmetic and none are really out of character. Most of them really do work to make the story more fluid.

With all that said the movie is not perfect though. The movie's final cut is a bit too short for a fantasy epic of this scale. It shows in some places where the pacing suddenly seems off and it feels that too much was left out. Hopefully they will release an extended version later on Blu-ray.

Overall it's a great movie that does a good job with setting up the Warcraft universe on big screen and leaves you wanting for more. A delight for any true fantasy lover.… Expand

Let's get straight to the point. If you know nothing about the Warcraft game, this movie isn't for you and you should have never reviewed it because you will get lost.

I myself never played the Warcraft game, but my brother does and heLet's get straight to the point. If you know nothing about the Warcraft game, this movie isn't for you and you should have never reviewed it because you will get lost.

I myself never played the Warcraft game, but my brother does and he caught be up to speed with the game and movie. Movie doesn't really expand in the beginning. There could have been more 'fluff' added to the storyline (me personally a longer movie is better) just so that you can get a feel of what's happening. Instead they just throw you into the world. But overall, the graphics, the amount of detail, the fighting and also the animations boost this score up from a 4/5 stars to a 5/5 stars. Well, Travis Fimmel boosted the score up as well because he is a great actor in the TV show Vikings as well... so it's a win win situation when watching the movie.

This is one the best video game released movies (way better than Pixels) in a movie theater. Don't let these critics tell you other wise.… Expand

I really cannot understand why the critics hate this film.

Warcraft we waited a very long time. I'm not a fan of this MMO, but I love fantasy. And it would be wonderful if this film crept up to the amazing Lord of the Rings. Probably a lot will not be understandable to people who are not familiar with the lore of the game, but it does not hurt to enjoy the movie! I don't know lore, but the questions to the movie I have almost was not, and some dramatic scenes I was in shock. The film is very beautiful, orcs are very realistic. Well, what kind of graphics not lost the plot. It keeps the screen on, and after I want to review the film. Warcraft is a great movie. It's from fans for fans, and it feels.
Was it possible to shoot better? I don't know. Ideally you need a series. But what happened is good, the best fantasy of recent years.… Expand

Rewatched the movie on Blu-Ray and I'm so frustrated at the critics but especially the studio! This movie was so good but only if you're a fan of the games. It was either bad or decent for a regular audience and no, I'm not saying that this movie sucks, it just had so much potential to "BLOW THE F*** OUT OF EVERYBODY'S MIND!" This is one of the best video games movie by far but this movie had so much potential to be one of the greatest films of all time (like Lord of the Rings). I don't blame the director, Duncan Jones because he did his best to fit in everything he knew the movie could be but the studio panicked and cut 40+ minutes of useful & valuable scenes of the movie! That's what made some of the humans characters so **** because there's no character development and that's why you needed those scenes to stay. Like Duncan Jones stated: "Trying to make a movie like Warcraft, and trying to do it in a unique way... you get killed by a death of 1,000 cuts. Not just editing cuts. It's little changes that seem really innocuous. As a filmmaker the only way that I understand how to make a film is holistically. Every choice that I make, whether it is story or character or costume, all works together. When you make a little change it doesn't seem like a big deal. When you keep making those little changes, especially over three and a half years, suddenly you're basically spending all of your time trying to work out how to patch up what has been messed around with. I was able to maintain Durotan and Draka's relationship, keep it feeling like a real relationship between a husband and wife, and those two characters being orcs. That was something that I pitched right from the start, and fought hard for, and was able to keep that in there. That always felt like a real win. SEQUEL? If there were an opportunity for us to make another film in the Warcraft universe I really feel like we did the hard work in the first movie as far as setting the table. I would love to capitalize on three and a half years of hard work and be able to have some fun in that world now that I've done the hard work. [So] who knows? Maybe I'm just being a masochist. What drives the Director crazy about Warcraft? I'm equally proud and furious about Warcraft. I love it. I spent so much time on it. I put all my heart into trying to make it work. Parts of it, I think, work, but it also drives me crazy that I wasn't able to push through everything that I knew needed to happen in order to make the film I knew it could be.… Expand

Поэтому когда в 2006 году компания-создатель игр Blizzard Entertainment сообщила об объединении с киностудией Legendary Pictures для подготовки к съемкам и выходу фильма по «Варкрафту», я был на седьмом небе от счастья. Долгие 10 лет ожидания: смены режиссеров, сценариев, мрогочисленные заморозки проекта и вот, наконец, фильм вышел. Но хорош ли он для зрителя, как для фаната, так и для человека, не знакомого с играми? Для решения этого вопроса я пошёл на фильм вместе со своей женой, которая никогда в «Варкрафт» не играла. Поэтому я составил общую оценку фильма. Итак, начнём.
За основу для фильма взяли первую часть игры «Варкрафт», которая вышла аж в 1994 году. Особым сюжетом игра не блистала. Однако вышедшие позднее книги скрасили события этой игры, добавив интригу и колоритность. Сюжет у фильма, все же отличается, и от игры, и от книг. Множество переделанных сцен дали фильму возможность понимания его обычному зрителю. Однако, события в фильме показались немного скомканными. Режиссёр так много хотел рассказать зрителю, что 2 часа не хватило для полного и чувственного просмотра фильма. События слишком быстро сменяют друг друга. Только, вроде бы, начинаешь сопереживать одному герою — нас быстро переносят к другому, не дав рассказать про первого. И подобных действий в фильме множество. Не дожали драму, чтобы переживать за персонажей. Юмор в фильме есть, но, по большей части для людей, знающих игры. Неожиданностей в фильме не присутствовало, хотя и было множество намеков на это.
Игра каждого актера не вызвала отвратительной реакции. Но и раскрывшихся персонажей здесь по пальцам перечесть: Лотар (Трэвис Фиммел), Дуротан (Тоби Кеббел) да и Дрека (Анна Галвин), остальные играют нейтрально, не вызывая ярких эмоций. Графика, эффекты, декорации, костюмы, режиссура на очень крепком уровне. Орки и прочие расы и создания, построенные на графике, смотрятся очень гармонично. Мир передан с душой. Атмосфера игры присутствует. А отсылки к играм вызывают нескромную улыбку. Фильм, в целом, получился бодреньким, смелым, самостоятельным фэнтези с (естественно) явным намеком на продолжение.… Expand

I had my doubts and didn't watch it in theatures. Later I found it in a $5 bin. First reaction at the credit roll was woah! The visuals were amazing! Story was catching. I'm honestly still mad, that this movie got review bombed - by the critics nonetheless! When it comes to medieval fantasy movies the genre likely reached it's peak with Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Those movies managed to balance a great deal many kings, kingdoms, magic, and fantasy races and make it all appealing to mainstream audiences. A huge achievement. Warcraft is not likely to have the same mainstream appeal. That's because in comparison the Lord of the Rings movies, it's much dorkier. Based off of the video game franchise, Warcraft is bursting with nerd appeal. Not a bad thing. It's just that the perhaps less grounded appearance of the certain aspects of the world and the stories full embrace of many different forms of fantasy magic as a driving force behind everything is going to be too much for some. Warcraft is likely to be a very niche film.

That's not to say Warcraft isn't a very well made movie. Everything it sets out to do it does so excellently with only some minor flaws to get in the way. For example, early on in the movie there are references to the larger lore of the series that go unexplained. It's not too important as the movie does a great job of focusing on the core plot, but those of us unfamiliar with the games are going to be left with some questions.

The story itself still remains easy to follow though, so long as you have a stomach for high fantasy. Like I said before, the plot does hinge on a lot of magical mumbo-jumbo. The conflict is still interesting though and filled with strong characters. I can't speak as to the movie's faithfulness to the source material, as I have never played any of the games.

The action is also impressive and the touches of humor that are neither too much or too little are appreciated, giving the movie a more human feel. This is also some of the best CGI you'll ever lay eyes on. The entire cast gives top-notch performances. While possibly a bit too nerdy for some, Warcraft is excellently realized fantasy entertainment. It's also a notable high-point for video game movies in terms of quality. With a great story, likable characters, an interesting conflict, and plenty of room for a sequel, Warcraft proves to be a very enjoyable start to what is hopefully a strong new series for medieval fantasy fans.… Expand

Probably some of the best visuals I've seen in some time. The orcs feel very real. There are a few story gaps but overall not as much as most critics seem to think. I went with two people who have never played the game and both rated it 8/10 plus.

It has problems for sure. Some of the lines are silly and could have used a rewrite and there is also a romance that seems very shoehorned and unnecessary but this is still a very fun and enjoyable movie that is pretty much everything that fans have been waiting for, for a long time. I am hopeful that the great reception from fans will allow sequels to be made that will cover the second and third games as well.… Expand

I was lucky enough to see this at a Preview showing in IMAX 3D. Whilst the story and characters are only skin deep, this did not detract from the absolute spectacle that was on screen. Having been an on/off fan of the franchise for sometime - I really enjoyed watching characters on screen that I have been playing alongside for near two decades. Yes this is Fan fodder, and unashamedly so - that's a good thing. Definitely the best video-game inspired movie ever made and deserving of multiple sequels. My only complaint - the running time was trimmed too much, therefore there wasn't enough time to develop characters; the focus shifting between too many characters; within too short a space of time. In many ways I wish that had been a TV series rather than a movie, that would have given more time to give to character development and being in parts of well known locales. Ironforge and Dalaran were brilliantly rendered, but never on screen for long enough. That said, other movies like the Jurassic Park series had the same level of 2D characterisation and this did not detract from the stunning spectacle of the CGI dinosaurs. Warcraft has its flaws, but bloody hell is it one hell of a spectacular, no.. EPIC. Ignore the bad reviews, they are written by a constant flow of mainstream critics who wouldn't understand what Warcraft is about, or how deep its lore and canon is. If your a fan of the series its a must see, if your not a fan of the series - but are a lover of fantasy/sci-fi its a must see. If your tastes are more high brow then avoid this little gem.… Expand

I don't get the "official" reviews, this movie is awesome! Warcraft is a rich fantasy universe with real magic and real powers and Warcraft delivers. Warcraft will definitely satisfy you as a Blizzard fan, definitely the first video game movie that I've seen that truly seemed well made. So many critics are completely skewing the scores most respectable critics will give it a 5-7/10 so if you're the type that looks for the deeper artistic side of a movie it is still somewhat there. Ignore the idiotic critics posting 0s too, no critic that posts a 0 to ANY movie should ever be listened to.

I do have a few complaints primarily in the casting, Khadgar and Medivh both don't fit their original counterparts very well at all, mostly Medivhi Wan Kenobi. It is obvious that some of the actors aren't top notch but it is a LOT better than I thought it would be.

The scenery and the loyalty displayed to long time fans of Blizzard games are amazing, plenty of fan service for those who've been here a while, but not so much that you're going to feel left out while everyone else is chuckling to something you don't understand every 5 seconds.

I think they did an amazing job with what is arguable the most boring arc of the entire Warcraft story, I really really hope they decide to tackle all the original warcraft games so we can see one of the best games ever made Warcraft 3 put on the silver screen.… Expand

It was 60% for fans and 40% for everyone else. I love the movie and the way it was finally produced. Duncan and Ramin gave a new birth for a franchise which generation was raised on. Went to see Warcraft with my son. I always loved the universe, though after viewing the trailer, I was a bit disappointed, as it somehow didn't click for me. My son pushed me to go see it anyway, and boy, am I glad I did. Really enjoyed theWent to see Warcraft with my son. This movie is way better than what the critics would have you believe. There are a lot of pacing issues, especially at the beginning but as a long time Warcraft player I absolutely loved this film and I hope they make more.

I'm scoring this as a former World of Warcraft player. If you are not a player, I'd probably knock 2 points off the score. First, it is a solid, but somewhat campy fantasy movie. More for players: It was interesting seeing the movie showing me dungeons I had traveled to in game. I've never gotten too much into the lore in the game, but have read several of the books YEARS ago. I also quit playing years ago, so I couldn't remember a lot of the particulars, but I did know the basics. All in all, as a player, I really enjoyed the movie. I REALLY hope this is the beginning of a great series of movies.

So, the bad. The movie does start slow. There is a lot of information that needs to be given to the audience. I also found that the movie was a little confusing at times. It was also, as I said before... it is a little on the campy side. The acting is hot and cold. The CGI I thought was very good.… Expand

How this film got such a low critic score is beyond me, but then again these days critics are so jaded and conditioned by certain types of films that they can't even begin to think about embracing something out of their comfort zones. I have never played WoW and my limited experience with Warcraft 2 and 3 aren't much to go by (not to mention I'm hardly even a Blizzard fan after I found Diablo III disappointing), so I didn't have much invested in this movie or universe, but rather went in with an open mind, ready for an interesting story to unfold, and I wasn't at all let down - you might even say I was shockingly surprised at the quality of this film.

Warcraft is something new, something spectacular, and most importantly, something that uses the tropes of high fantasy to full effect, with insanely powerful magic spells, giant mounts, brutal action sequences (cleverly filmed so as to garner the PG-13 rating), and compelling storylines, bolstered by some of the best motion-capture work this side of the Planet of the Apes films. The visual effects are stunning and the pace rarely ever lets up as the viewer is whisked away to and from the many locales of Azeroth. The fight scenes are well-shot and the magic in particular stands out as being especially well-realized. For those seeking eye candy, the attention to detail in the visual effects, characters, armor, sets, and weapons is nothing short of magical. Weta Workshop's work on the armor and practical effects deserves every commendation it can get.

The worst thing I can say about this film is that it definitely feels like it was trimmed way down by the studio. Allegedly, 40 minutes were left on the cutting room floor, and I get the feeling they would have gone a long way towards fixing the rushed nature and lightning-fast subplots that marred the film's second act. I'll gladly watch a director's cut with the restored footage. If I had one other major complaint to lodge, it's that the performances are somewhat uneven, and on whose shoulders the blame rests will vary from viewer to viewer (Khadgar and King Wrynn could have been better cast, IMO).

If you're at all interested in high fantasy, even if you have no prior experience in Azeroth, I highly recommend this film. You'll likely find much more to love than to hate.… Expand

I really enjoyed the movie.

Awesome CG, great pace, nice combat sequences.

Also, the lore and overall plot worked better for me than other titles like The Hobbit.

And btw, not a fanboy of the WoW game. It is just my plain opinion :)

If you're a fan of Warcraft and you go in expecting to be entertained, it's mostly good. If you're a movie snob expecting the next Citizen Kane, you'll hate it. My main complaint here is just that the original plot lines explored in the movie aren't the most compelling stories that the Warcraft series has to tell. Of course, they had no choice but to start with these plots, though. We can only hope that they continue making these movies so that we get to see the story of the Lich King on the big screen.

Some have also noted that the movie lacks some of the humor of the games, but the story is not where the humor was. The humor was always in the mundane interactions you had with your armies. You'd click on a unit, and they might eventually say something silly like, "You're good looking for a human!" or "Hee Hee that tickles". It really wasn't THAT funny. I think a serious approach to the story is the only way to do it any justice in a movie format.… Expand

Went in not expecting very much. It was much better than anticipated from my standpoint. While there is a ton of CGI.. it is exceptionally done CGI. The technology alone is worth seeing.
