This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Even though everyone seems to absolutely love the earlier Spider-man movies with Maguire and Garfield for me each one of them was a pain to watch through. On the contrast I have absolutely loved every appearance of Tom Holland as a Spider-man because it has been such a different take to this character that has been done so many times. So I had strong doubts about if I could enjoy a movie that based on the trailers gathered all the villains from previous movies.

I was positively surprised. All the characters from the previous Spider-man movie iterations that I had trouble looking at in their original movies were actually enjoyable in this context. The story was easy to follow for me and I found myself enjoying pretty much the whole movie. Action scenes were at times just a big blur with so much happening but they were enjoyable.

Next to the spoilery stuff so if you accidentally expanded this turn back now.

I understand that for many Tom Holland Spider-man is just "Iron Man Jr." and it cheapens the character but personally that is what I love about the MCU iteration. So to me personally the ending was a slight disappointment because it takes the character to a direction I don't personally enjoy with setting and visual design. I hope there are more movies with MCU Spider-man in the future and he can get back some of the things that were lost in the ending of this one.

Mid-credits scene had me scared if the character would come to MCU because it has been an absolute pain to watch them in their own movies but luckily that character was handled perfectly.

But yeah, all in all I enjoyed the movie very much and I'm really looking forward see more any kind of Spider-man content in the future. Slight minuses for hard readability and taking the story to a direction I don't prefer.

The story is nostalgic in nature but doesn't do it with cameos. I does it with giving each characters a real part in the movie. The humour is strong and there is a lot of youthful moments. The FX had a nice balanced into it. And I really like how they worked the soundtrack. The actors are superb. Many of them do they roles with a lot of subtleties and that makes the final product feels less tacky. That doesn't mean that everything is very logic. And one, out of the blue power, just seem to serve the movie more then the story. Still, I give it 82%. I really enjoyed it and those who are fans of the character Spiderman, should go see it. Expand

Peter Parker- Peter Parker, giving it all his heart, and everything else... - The first thing that comes to my mind is how prodigious the script writing is, masterfully layered, epic on countless levels, and moreover deeply emotional... Peter Parker faces extremely complex choices, going through a big number of ordeals, putting his heart in the front-line all the time... And yeah, it shows you how constantly trying to right every wrong is more than a monumental task for one sole being. Luckily, he has several wonderful supports -all along this chaotic journey- who give their heart to fill these roles in the best possible way, and that, in itself is very touching... But in this movie, the stakes resonate on a wide number of aspects, it isn't at all just about "good & bad", it's a human story (which makes it the magnificent movie that it is) and the hero at the core of all these meanders has to fully embrace his responsibilities... A true hero's journey sadly is punctuated with tragic steps that tell you how right is what you're doing. And indeed, in the end, it all takes you back to this existential question, and its heartbreaking answer : "What did it cost ?" ... "Everything."

Now on a lighter note, the easter eggs and winks to the audience, there are tons of thems and each one of them smoothly flows in the most logical & delightful way with the story (the audience cheers and applaudes on multiple occasions) ; either rewarding you in the process or planting seeds for obvious future storylines to come and develop further down the line... And again, most of these elements have an emotional impact to them, or lead you to some intriguing (and interesting) questions...
What's for sure is that you go through a lot heart-grabbing moments, all along this movie... It has a lot of epicness to it, of course ; but what leaves you in awe is that the emotional aspect of all these scenes is what really leaves you blissfully happy. And when the movie's over one and for all, you can already enjoy all these clever (but numerous) little seeds, eventually evolving in new mind-blowing directions in the future...

How not to applaude this movie, from its great build-up (every character has at least one thing that makes you attached to him and his eventual outcome), the way it's navigates so well between epic sequences and dialogues that add ever more to the moving aspect of it all ; leading you to this legendary last third of the movie, in which anything is a real blast (PS : the two end credits are really worth waiting for).

I'll finish with the quality of the whole piece, from the nicely mastered staging, the pace (2h30 that flow like 1h), the obvious dedication (and passion) that's infused in every scene by the actors (but also by all the team behind the movie ; you can feel it all along) and the dialogs that are a delight... The special effects are once again amazing... The score offers several memorable pieces...
Not just one of the greatest superhero movies ever, but an unforgettable movie, period.

After that shocking cliffhanger from the previous movie and the fact that villains from both Sam Raimi's Spiderman trilogy and TheSpider-Man No Way Home might be the most hyped and most anticipated Superhero movie since Avengers Endgame. After that shocking cliffhanger from the previous movie and the fact that villains from both Sam Raimi's Spiderman trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man were returning for multiverse madness, the hype went through the roof. However, does it live up to the hype or collapse under its weight?

Let's get the obvious praises out the way first. The action sequences are all still very exciting and enjoyable to watch. The fight scenes utilize Spidey's and the villains' ability very well leading to a very fun choreography. Although, my favourite fight happens to just be a brutal fistfight in an apartment that illustrate the new tonal direction of the film. Michael Giacchino returns to score the film and his music score is better than ever. The first half of the film has a similar music score to that of Spider-Man Homecoming and Far From Home. The second half is where Michael's music score starts feeling more sombre and heroic, which is very effective and fitting for the story. He also includes some subtle music soundtrack from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man that is very fitting. One complaint that I had about director Jon Watts is that his Spider-Man movies are not visually interesting. This isn't the case in No Way Home with there being good cinematography and memorable shots. There is a scene with Strange and magic that looks visually pleasing and a scene with Peter in the rain that looks stunning. Tom Holland is still phenomenal as Spider-Man with him delivering a great performance. His chemistry with both Jacob Batalon and Zendaya who play Peter's best friend and girlfriend respectively is a wonderful sight. Seeing the three of them work together like the best of friends feels very believable. Benedict Cumberbatch also returns as Doctor Strange and he gives a very different side to him that we haven't seen before. He gives a more playful yet lecturing father-like side to him that bounces well off Spider-Man. Alfred Molina returns after 17 years as Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man 2 and he is still able to embody the character perfectly like he never left. The best performance in this film comes from Willem Dafoe who returns as the Green Goblin From Spider-Man (2002). Willem is somehow able to give a performance that is even more frightening and unhinged than his performance in 2002 Spider-Man. Jamie Foxx also returns as Electro and thankfully his performance is no longer as cringy or silly as it was in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This time he does feel like a villain to be reckoned with.

The story is also a huge step up from the previous MCU Spider-Man movies as it feels like there is more emotional weight this time. One issue with MCU Spider-Man over previous Spider-Man movies is that Peter never has anything personal at stake. This isn't the case in No Way Home where it feels like he is dealing with a lot and even downright suffering for it. He has a proper story arc that is incredibly satisfying. One worry I had was the fact there were 5 villains in this movie. Surprisingly, the movie does a good job of juggling them all. Everyone has a fair amount of dialogue that illustrates their personality while clearly stating their motives for them being against Spider-Man. Even if their motive is just wanting to turn a city into lizards. Unfortunately, Lizard and Sandman don't get as much focus compared to the other three villains. Both do feel like they are just there to have a big CGI battle at the end. I also find Sandman's motive clashes with the other villains which makes it weird for him to be teaming up with them at all. No Way Home also still seems to have a problem that a lot of MCU movies have which is doing quips and jokes without letting the serious nature of the moment linger longer. The film also has some weird editing where it feels like they don't linger on an actor's facial performance for long enough and just cut away to someone else's reaction instead. There are also a fair amount of scenes done with close up camera shots instead of a long or wide shot even though it would be better. Both of these are very noticeable in the final act, most likely due to the studio filming these actors in different places. Overall, Spider-Man No Way Home might be the best MCU Spider-Man film so far. While it is certainly filled to the brim with fan service, the film is still able to maintain a compelling story while making the fan service complement the story. This film should've been a bloated mess and it should have crushed under its weight, but it didn't. While the film certainly has flaws (and some plot holes and plot conveniences), it never damages the experience. No Way Home is an excellent movie that lives up to the hype. This is how you do fan service properly!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was fine. The story was forgettable and the ending leaves you asking a lot of questions about glaring plot holes. Similarly to Infinity War, they leave an ending that feels like it has massive implications, but deep down you know they will fix everything with no consequences. Seeing the three different Spider-Men interact was great fun, and the banter between the three of them is enough to make anyone smile at the very least. Willem Dafoe is still a chilling villain, and Jamie Foxx plays a much better Electro character than he did in Amazing Spider-Man 2. Overall a very fun movie, but nothing more. Expand

This new approach to the Marvel universe, the world of parallel universes, which began with the show "What if," will, in my opinion, achieve a qualitative leap and great success.
The movie is full of comedy, suspense, and excitement, the amount of feelings and passion is great to the point where sometimes you get feelings of joy and other times you see that intense sadness, great sadness to the point where you feel like crying, the amount of tragedies that Spider-Man went through from losing loved ones to friends, the idea of collecting the three heroes who played this character is very wonderful and thought the universes, The parallel provided justification for changing the actors who had previously played this character, as well as saving the evil.

Not because the movie would suck but because I expected a lot. However, not only my high expectations were met, it felt like i was watching a movie that I would only dream of. The return of the iconic villains, the ztory itself and Peter sacrificing so much as he learned that with great power comes great responsibility from the woman who's pretty much his mother. And the cherry on top having those 3 amazing heroes unite gave me goosebumps, as i stared at the screen sith the biggest dorkiest smile i ever had. It made this a breathtaking experience to the point that i wanna go watch it again. I only thought a movie like this is something you dream of. Gladly dreams come true Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is one of the best there is. It broke all MCU boundaries- dark and brutal. It made me feel the pain and the toughness of being Spider-Man. It's a really good fan-service. Andrew's Spider-Man was great. No Way Home did more to Andrew than his two standalone movies. This trilogy was actually an origin story of MCU's Spider-Man. It covers all the problems with other movies. My only problem is that Dr. Strange was downplayed a bit, but it has so many good characters, especially Electro and Green Goblin. Really one of the best movie ever made by Marvel. Expand

The short review: Teens and fans would absolutely love this film! However, I think it is merely good and also rather frustrating.

Related media: I have seen all of the MCU films apart from Eternals, which I’ll watch on TV instead. Shang-Chi was great in the first half and only OK in the final quarter.

What's it like? With Peter Parker’s alter ego exposed in the previous film, he goes to ask Dr Strange to cast a spell for the world to forget he’s Spider-man, only to ask for more and more exceptions mid-spell-casting, thus screwing up the spell. A frustrated Dr Strange attempted to fix this spell only for Peter to interfere again, thus creating an even bigger mess. Mid- or post-credit scenes: One mid- and one almost trailer-length post-credit scene.

Positive: 1) With villains of other Spider-verses coming into this universe - it’s in the trailers - I had expected the obvious things to happen, but it wasn’t that straightforward, so kudos to the writers.

2) There are some very funny jokes between characters of different Spider-versus, some of which are real-life jokes about the actors themselves.

Negatives:

1) In the first MCU Spider-man film, Peter Parker messed up while trying to catch the villains, thus leading to a ferry being split in half. In the second film, he messed up by giving the special glasses to the villain, thus leading to the destruction in London. In this third film, he messed up again. This trope/storyline is just far too repetitive, as if there would be no other plotline that does not involve Peter messing up. I understand that Peter is a kid growing up, but is any kid going to mess up in three big ways in their teens?

2) Teens and fans would absolutely love this film, because of the appearance of the characters from other Spider-verses, but the directing of a few of these critical characters was poor, thus leading over-emotional and slow performances. Some 15 min could be chopped off from this film.

3) The final battle was very confusing because there were too many characters and director did not do a good job.

4) The mess created by Peter Parker was not satisfactorily resolved and leaves much to be desired, but I do not think this would form any part of the sequels to this – yes there will be more MCU Spider-man films!

How would the different age groups rate this:

Children: (not rated for children).

Teens: Excellent.

Young adults: Excellent.

Medium-age adults: Good. Old adults: Average. This may just be too confusing/frustrating for them.

My rating: 4/5 (no half scores). Worth it to watch it in the cinema.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. While not perfect (there are a lot of plot conveniences at points and the fan service can be a little overbearing at points), Spider-Man: NWH is a ridiculously fun and emotional film that serves as a great individual story for Tom Holland's Peter Parker as well as a love letter to all things Spider-Man. All of the performances are spectacular (specifically Holland, Zendaya, Dafoe, and Molina), but one that stood out to me most was Andrew Garfield, who gives it his all as a less confident and seemingly dejected Spider-Man (hilarious and tragic in a meta context). All the action was really well-executed, the villains are so fun to see again, it does a much better job of balancing comedy and drama than most MCU films, and it was such a special film experience I'm sure to remember and go back to time and time again. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was everything I could ask for in a multiverse film, with most of the previous villains, all of the previous spider-men (that feels wierd to say). There was even tons of emotion. When aunt may died after green goblin knew how he died to when everyones mind is wiped so there is now no one but Peter (1) in his own life. And the post credits scene... Well it's safe to say the MCU has just given themselves some very nice future films. I've got so many theories bouncing around in my head. One of the best films ever created. Expand

Marvel movies follow a comfortable pattern that keeps things interesting rather than boring. Combining comedy with blockbuster action scenes but usually they are well paced,a characteristic this new phase seems to lack. "No way home " like black widow or shang chi races through it's narrative despite it's 2hrs. Dr. Strange feels like a throwaway and Peter Parker's plight doesn't feel necessary. The comedy feels stiff and immature (see:jaime foxx's entire performance).
Im really disappointed by this movie firstly by how incoherent it is. Why would Peter forget the fact Norman has a darker half, introduce him to his identity, his aunt and friends? Or the fact electro keeps discussing his lust for power? His mistakes are very stupid and aunt mays death feels obligatory to push pale parallels to Sam Rami original trilogy .

On the positive side it fulfills alot of it's multiversal promises, the references are timely. Peter&his friends are a pleasure to watch. Zendaya is hilarious as Mj and Jacob is inconsequential as Ned. It's a foundation for a more cosmic marvel that takes greater risks. It captures the marvel zietgist despite being one of the weaker marvel projects.

The movie carries from the get go a feeling of consequence and a farewell to how things used to be. No Way Home is many things at it's core, all of them very well stitched together.

It is, first and foremost, a Spider-Man coming of age story. The story tunnels Peter Parker through a process of growth, making him turn into a man, and learning what's the cost of being a hero. The plot sacrifices it's complexity for the sake of character development. It's a self-contained story that works well on it's own, and much better as part of something bigger, since it carries the impact of many other MCU stories, both from the full lenght movies and TV shows alike.

It is secondly, and for this same reason, the literal window opener for Marvel's multiverse at the movies, as it is the debut of the concept in their feature films. Fans centaintly feel delighted to see this happening, and it brings a solid feeling of moving forward to MCU's story as a whole.

The third thing No Way Home is, feeding on the multiverse concept it helps to establish, a love letter to any Spider-Man fan of any age. Fan service feels well deserved and fit to the story, if only a few times slow or out of place. It feels, sometimes, that Raimi characters feel tired and disconnected to what they used to be in their original appearances.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is by far the best Marvel Movie ever, and with the exception of “The Dark Knight” the best comic book superhero movie of all time. In the end, Peter Parker finally ends up in his New York City apartment that was his base of operations in Todd Mcfarlane’s now classic comic book, “Spider Man”. No longer a high school kid, this sets up Spider Man for the next stage of adventures as a more mature young man. Additionally this film wraps up and neatly pays homage to all previous Spider Man films. My only complaint is that it does look like Spider Man is transitioning from Disney back to Sony. So I just hope future films are more like “Into the Spiderverse” and less like “Venom: Let there be Carnage” This is my favorite film of 2021 and sets up Tom Holland as a true superstar. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spider-Man: No Way Home was amazing; my favorite Spider-Man movie, my favorite movie of 2021, and one of my top 3 all-time favorite movies. The writing was exceptional especially the story they did a perfect job at balancing all the crazy and exciting action and fun with humorous moments and with deep heartwrenching and serious moments. The performances from Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, Willem Dafoe, Zendaya, Alfred Molina, Tobey Maguire, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Thomas Haden Church, J. K. Simmons, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rhys Ifans, Jon Favreau, and Tom Hardy were phenomenal. The chemistry between Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire was so natural and hilarious and the chemistry between Tom Holland and Zendaya is by no surprise excellent. The visual effects were remarkable, some of the best time ever seen especially the Mirror Dimension, Sandman, Dr. Ock's tentacles, Lizard, Electro's powers, Spider-Man's nano suit, and all cracks in the universe. The action sequences were awesome some of the best I've ever scene especially the final battle. The costumes were superb especially all the Spider-Men's suits. The music was great. This was an A+ movie. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good:
Much better than the previous two, being the first good MCU Spider-Man movie. The use of villains from previous films is done respectfully, the supporting cast actually feel like real peopl, and Tobey and Andrew are here, not as cheap fanservice, but as characters that propel the plot forward. Even with all the new characters, the movie does justice to Peter (Tom H.), MJ and Ned, which was surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

Not so good: My first gripe is the comedy, while most jokes landed really well with the villains, some of them are childish and it feels jarring to watch serious characters do that. The way the whole multiverse is setup is also forced, a common trend with this director, as both Peter and Dr. Strange got their IQ lowered in that scene so it could happen, as simply any of them pointing out exceptions for the memory spell would have solved the whole movie, which cheapens the plot. The motivations for the villains feel forced too at some points, and I didn't buy Aunt May's motivation to try to help everyone, any adult older than 25 knows that thats not how bad people work, and this is further proved, IMO, when she gets killed by some1 she tried to help in first place. Not only that, but it also causes Peter to end up completely alone, which proves Dr. Strange was ,sadly, right. The reason I point out more bad than good is cuz I think all of it was easily avoidable, making the movie even better.

Conclussion: Still liked the movie, a great nostalgia trip and sets up a great Peter Parker for the future trilogy that has been announced in the future. Im actually excited to see what happens with MCU Spider-Man now.
