However, there isn't much in the movie that I found interesting. Dalton's character was more of a pouty baby than someone who goes through a genuine evolution that would've felt more rewarding in the end. But there isn't denying the style, ganache and exuberance Tarantino gives this world and time. The movie ends poetically, but a lot of times expects its greatness instead of earning it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a film about the Hollywood of the the late 1960s, centering on actors, teenage girls/fans, nostalgia of wild west/cowboy films of that time.

The first hour was a little bland but it improves after that. I liked the scenes with Cliff Booth at the old ranch film set, where numerous young girls keep an eye on the new comer from a distance. I thought Cliff seemed generally more 'cool' (more of a star) than Rick Dalton did - what you can read into that is up to you.

I wouldn't say its greatly funny most of the time but it is amusing at times, in a darkly comic way (so typical Tarantino fare). Also it's an understated film for the most part, I'd say. There's some witty dialogue and the cinematography is decent enough. I liked the music played too. There's a fairly strong emphasis/focus on bright colours, in the bright lights of cinemas (including listings advertised), hotels, restaurants etc. - the famous 'bright lights of Hollywood'. Its stylish but maybe not as frantic as you may expect. There is, of course, some quite bloody violence, as is expected for a Tarantino film but there's not as much as you may assume - all in the 2nd half, quite close to the end of the film.

Yes I'd recommend this film but primarily for fans of Tarantino's work. If your expecting a constant action type film then this may well seem too long winded and not offer all your expecting but if your intrigued by the plot and you like the cast, then yes, I'd say it's worth seeing.

It takes a deep journey into the lives of two men looking for their place of fame in Hollywood; all masterfully complimented with outstanding filming, talented acting, and a mind-blowing production set that deserves in full the awards it has received due to its time period accuracy. Being set in the late 1960s, there is no 21st century vibe throughout the whole film which fully impresses me. A lot goes on during the film and requires full attention and concentration. Multiple viewings is also advised. Quentin Tarantino applies a genius twist to a true story, thus resulting in this thrilling masterpiece. Expand

The acting is phenomenal and the film certainly has great cinematography and scripting. I wish that the audience was reminded once in a while on what the basic plot of the story is and the direction of it. The basics of any film is a plot. And this movie just hopes that we already know what it is, but we dont. It's dull and has nothing much to say at all. The acting is the only good part. Expand

Perhaps the weakist Tarantino movie. Still it is far better than 99% of Hollywood productions. Soundtrack is excellent.
