Horrible movie. The plot is trash, this is nothing like the original. Mulan is a Mary-Sue with jedi powers for no reason, just like Rey in Star Wars latest movies.

Mulan, the main character is bland and does not have the character development that makes us care as the original. New characters that replaced the original are simply not good and took away from the experience. The movie is bland with very little humor and bored me.

This live action version of Mulan is pure propaganda for the CCP. It lacks the heart and energy of the cartoon. It sends the wrong message to girls. I am glad I did not watch this in the theater. Avoid this trash!

I loved the orginal Mulan, but the changes made to the live action are stripping everything that made the orginal lovable. The characters in the movie are flat and without resolution towards each other. Is this perfect? No. But, what film is? None. Mulan is absolutely a wonderful piece of cinema. It felt like its own film while also having feelings very similar to the original. Having been excited about this movie for a long time, I waitedIs this perfect? No. But, what film is? None. Mulan is absolutely a wonderful piece of cinema. It felt like its own film while also having feelings very similar to the original. Having been excited about this movie for a long time, I waited all the way to midnight just to watch it release on Disney+. I then proceeded to immediately love it. The acting is fantastic, the visuals are astounding, the action sequences are so cool to watch and the overall story is still incredibly moving. It stands well on its own to the point where the lack of Mushu and the songs (though some songs do appear in the score of the film in several scenes) isn't really noticed. While I do have a lot of love and respect for the original, this new Mulan stands on its own and I love it maybe even as much as its animated predecessor. It was very much worth the money spent and way better than these reviews give it credit for. What a wonderful film. Thank you Disney for sharing this new adaptation of Mulan with the world, I am very grateful.… Expand

Nothing like the trailer was making it out to be. Had some emotional moments, but this came over more like a cheesy cheap remake of an old tale rather than living up to the opportunity that Mulan could have provided to girls like it did for so many in the 90s kicking off the girl power movement.

The acting was terrible all around and horribly edited. If you want to sum up the movie in one scene, watch the emperor scene right after he gets saved and the ropes get undone by Mulan (close to the end).

So much potential, a real shame. I’ll stick with the classics.… Expand

Maybe Chinese audiences did (since this film was clearly made to pander to them), but even then from what I heard they loved the songs, Li Shang, and Mushu too, who are both absent in this film. I appreciate Disney trying to actually make notable changes to its remakes for once, but this is just a boring slog of a movie that lacks any major enjoyment.… Expand
