This is an excellent action film, plain and simple.

The plot is straightforward and short on dialogue, which works very well considering this film is driven by non-stop action and amazing visuals.

Post-apocalyptic Australia looks like a different planet, and there are so many gorgeous shots in the film, like the giant sand storm sequence, and Immortan Joe's fortress.

In addition, the setting and the costumes are imaginative, and the movie does a great job of creating a unique society that blends different elements like Norse Mythology and warrior culture.

And to top it all off you have an intimidating villain.

Entretenimiento total, a pesar de los avances tecnológicos se visualiza una trama tipo old school donde la adrenalina quiere ver más, la música es un excelente complemento.

A world is extremely effectively presented and described with such a small amount of dialogue I was shocked when at the end it wasn't one-liners or conversations that resonated with me, but the set pieces and sequences that themselves described the personalities and motives of each interesting character. To be fair the plot picked up in the last hour as we saw the dynamic between the ladies as well as Furiosa and Max. Good car chase, funny dialogue in patches-Fury Road is neither a masterpiece nor a disaster, a solid action flick with a few breathtaking moments

Was happened is that Tom Hardy is not the right man for mad max.. he is to big and too "Neandertal"...
And other 2 characters (from good side) are better than him.
So..what appened.. imagine to leave mad max from this mad max movie and you will obtain the same good movie!

Spectacularly gripping from start to finish, the film showers its viewers with moments of awe and insanity, with the ability to bring them back down to earth with emotional and harshly realistic aspects. Whilst Tom Hardy is faultless in his Bane-like performance, Charlize Theron and her band of freedom fighters steal the show. George Miller thoroughly demonstrates his skill as a director, providing a magical yet scarily realistic portrayal of his imagined dystopian future. With the use of stunning practical effects, gripping action sequences, and strong character development, Miller is able to bring his fantasy to screens in an awesome and beautiful way. Expand

I absolutely love Tom and Charlize but they become characters as opposed to actors. There was literally only one moment during the film where I was displeased and it was when the steering wheel comes at the screen (clearly a 3D gimmick) and it looked very cheesy. Aside from that 1 second peeve, I can't stop thinking about the film in my head. There are so many parallels to societies that the film becomes somewhat of a social commentary as well. Lastly what ties it all together is the soundtrack. Each scene is accompanied by a track that makes you feel like you are there and made me want to go out and be productive post-film. The OST really captured the immense and powerful vibes emitted by every scene in this sweet ass work of art. Fun, intense, engaging, and outright cool, this movie is definitely worth the exorbitant amount of cash that films cost these days. Expand

I signed up just to make it clear to people who are interested in the action movie mad max is that this movie will note take your hand and walk at your side all the way explaining things to you like you are retarded. There is a lot of reference and small details that really makes the experience of the movie special.

I just find it funny how people create a bunch of fake accounts just to try to put a stain in the movie's image. Then I checked the profiles that seemed a little more original and they underrated another great movies while overrating really mediocre ones. Some people even claimed that the movie hasn't a plot, no story and ended asking why they all started running with their cars in the first place, ha ha. Must be a joke.

Anyway, I'll blame the natural divergence of tastes to keep things polite.
Sorry for my english.

I do not believe 3D is a necessity to enjoy. It is an intense thrill ride that is artfully done with phenomenal frame by frame visuals. I describe the movie as metal mayhem and destruction. There is not a thick plot but you quickly forget that once you are submersed into the Mad Max world and you can't escape until the chase is over and you've realized you drank your entire soda, urinated yourself in the theater, and you were so glued to the screen you didn't realize it. Certain movies come around every so often and they evoke emotions that you remember from past movies that you remember exactly when and where you experienced it. Movies like Jurassic Park and The Matrix just to name a few. They changed the way movies were made. I hope Mad Max is that movie for new films. The practical stunts and the minimum use of CGI is what Hollywood needs to do. Work on finding a good balance between the two so I actually feel fear for on screen characters. Hate it or love it but its my opinion and I put this movie in my top 10 best of my lifetime (35 years).... so far. Expand

Big Dumb Awesome Motor Fueled wasteland movie.
that's how I'd sum this up, the entire movie from start to finish is basically a heavy metal world made as realistically as possible.
Now, I've been out of the loop ever since he original mad max, but I get the feeling that the world changed since the old days, and that, despite all the stuff you're seeing and how alien the movie looks from the starting point to now, that mad max is very much not a reboot.
The movie is dumb, let me be clear here, virtually everything, the entire plot, all of it, stupid.
but it's the reason it's stupid is because the movie is using its plot as a blatant excuse to watch car armies blow each other up in a wasteland so convincingly alien in nature that it's hard to believe this place used to be earth, it feels more like mars, one of the big standout moments being the massive dust-storm which was so large, so violent that it was generating electricity.
it's clear that mad max is telling its tale through the world, and not through the main character, back in the day I recall max being a guy who actually spoke and did stuff, this later version of max feels noticeably broken, and he's quiet throughout the entire movie, save for internal monologue and him giving orders or just saying his name twice near the end.

in fact, my biggest gripe with mad max is how max himself just....isn't.
there's not much to him, and the only moment you really see him doing something badass, he does it in the background, he basically goes off to deal with the people pursuing their war vehicle at night, the air is quiet and a lot of waiting happens.
then suddenly this massive explosion, muffled by the fog in the area, resounds off in the distance, and max comes in, coated with blood and carrying a ton of supplies from the guys he just discreetly destroyed.
there's this sense that max isn't really trying, and when he finally does do something badass, it's almost scary, they don't say anything when he returns, they just move on.
Max himself is very reserved, he's not interested in helping these people until the very end, he suffers from hallucinations, and he's genuinely "Mad" as the title of the movie makes clear.
the movie's plot itself is stupid, lead chick takes concubines from warlord, warlord gets mad, goes after them, pregnant concubine dies when warlord accidentally runs her over, warlord gets madder.
near the end of the journey, the group realizes "Hey, warlord was being stupid and took his ENTIRE ARMY FROM THE CITADEL! let's go back and take it over!" warlord dies, happy ending.
Immortan joe, like max, suffers from being a background villain, he gets a decent amount of screentime, speaks more, but there's not much in the way of his character development, save for what you see in the world around him. Joe is living a lie and trying to turn it into a functional society, he's a bad guy, but for human reasons. but there's little in the way of his character outside of "shouty guy in horse tooth mask who owns people and makes them do his bidding" and that's about it. virtually every other line he has is him shouting orders, and that's about it.

Mad Max is a solid movie, not for what it tells through the characters, but what it tells through the world, and this world is masterfully created. it's a compelling look at a ludicrous, insane wasteland that shapes the people. Max himself needed more characterization, as he seems to be the only person the wasteland doesn't say much about.

It's a stupid, explosive, crazy, dumb, awesome movie that doesn't need to do much to say a lot. but when you step back and take a look at the plot, it's **** stupid.
in fact, it's the level of stupid that you just can't hate yourself for enjoying, because the stupid is the best excuse to sit back and admire the action, the craziness, the guy in a flamethrower guitar.

it's just one big dumb awesome heay metal fantasy movie, and that's all it wants to be.

Beautiful, thrilling, suspenful, and amazing are just a few words that describe Mad Max: Fury Road. The Writer and Director of this film, George Miller was also responsible for the original Mad Max trilogy-starring actor Mel GibsonBeautiful, thrilling, suspenful, and amazing are just a few words that describe Mad Max: Fury Road. The Writer and Director of this film, George Miller was also responsible for the original Mad Max trilogy-starring actor Mel Gibson (Braveheart, The Patriot) as Max Rockatansky, who was seeking vengeance for the murder of his family. While he goes about seeking vengeance, Max (Mel Gibson) must overcome outlaws, gangs, and criminals along with his own past or ghosts rather, in a post apocalyptic setting as seen throughout all of the other films.

It has now been 30 years since the last Mad Max film was released in theaters causing the audience to feel a bit skeptical or apprehensive about this new movie of his, Fury Road. However, he had the audience on the edge of their seat as soon as the opening credits rolled in. The first scene of the film does an amazing job capturing the essence and the energy of the film as a whole, with an impressive chase scene involving our hero, Max. This is a movie that 80% of what you seen on screen was made with practical effects, which helped to elevate the movie even more. The car chases were awesome to watch as they were filled with beautiful action and breathtaking shots.

The action scenes were not the only breathtaking moments though. This film featured great talents such as Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) as Max Rockatansky, Charlize Theron (Monster, The Italian Job) as Furiosa, and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class, Warm Bodies) as Nux, and Hugh Keays-Byrne (Mad Max)

The film may be called Mad Max, but the character Furiosa (Charlize Theron) is the one that steals the show. The film focuses more on her as the main heroin who is trying to bring peace and freedom to a group of females that are being kept as slaves and property of the Immortan Joe played by Hugh Keays-Byrne who also played the original villain of the 1979 Mad Max version. By the second act things were really starting to heat up as Furiosa and Max come together in order to protect the women and take down the enemy with all they got.

In conclusion, Director George Miller shines as a filmmaker with Fury Road, making the audience feel like they are right in the middle of the action. He does everything right, from a great opening scene, to a deeply satisfying final act of the film. This is a film that is not for everyone, but if you love action and well-crafted action scenes, then this is the perfect movie for you. Over all, Mad Max: Fury Road is simply a stunningly beautiful action masterpiece that will live on for a very long time.

Final Score: 9.7/10

I was left speechless when this finished. It can be hard to describe indeed.... but I'll go for it...
Even at the beginning, there's no hint MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is going to a stop. Right at the very start, the engines are already rewing, gathering furious fires of vengeance and redemption, and before the audience could snap out of the sheer moments of brutal grittiness and exhilarating high-octane drama, they are surely already held hostage within the confines of a post-apocalyptic world, where everything is horrendously scarce. Not that it's a bad thing, no it's not. I tell you, this is like being hurled into the space in a roller-coaster ride. It's dangerous, but it's also thrilling. Witnessing this dystopic world and all its hellish drama unfold might make you grope for seatbelt under your seat.

What a Lovely Day and What a Lovely Movie! This is just beyond expectations! There is nothing easy or predictable about what George Miller delivers with Mad Max: Fury Road, a stone-cold action master class, beautiful and brainy and startling in the ways it throws off the current definition of the blockbuster. There is gargantuan excess here, to be sure - and no shortage of madness - but there is also an astonishing level of discipline. Come for the blistering, full-tilt action, stay for the thought-provoking consideration of the post-apocalypse. The world of Mad Max has always been welded together from bits of whatever was lying around, and the films' brilliance has always been in their welding - the ingenious ways in which their scrap- metal parts were combined to create something unthinkable, hilarious or obscene, and often all three.

It is the Die Hard of the modern age. You might be saying, Dangerfar, what in the hell does the German takeover in NY have to do with an apocolyptic showdown? Well, settle down, I'll tell you. They're fun dumb action movies.

It's a wild and tense ride from beginning to end, with scarcely any let off the gas. The cinematography is top notch, as is the costume design and score. The visual and audio experience are visceral and intensely compelling, unified in a striking and powerful way that will get the blood pumping more than most movies can.

The character development is, well there's not much character development. It does what I'll call the hurry-up character somewhat effectively though, which is seemingly becoming increasingly common these days. As movies like this emerge, which are essentially one long drawn out action scene, there quite simply isn't time for meaningful dialogue or to really get to know or feel for your characters. The good and bad guys are laid out well enough though, and there's enough random flashbacks to let you know this place is hell and Max is a good guy that is tormented by the world he lives in and some people he couldn't protect, so really its suffice.

All this to say, for what it is (an action movie), it is very well crafted indeed, and among the best in recent memory. When compared to movies on the whole though, or storytelling in general, or sci-fi (which for some reason some people seem to classify this as, it is not even a little bit sci-fi), it has a shiny veneer on a rather drab interior.

So, what else is there to say but . . . This is great stuff! No, really, I’m a sucker for harrowing visions of sick societies challenged by damaged goods. The visions here are horrifyingly realized in the blast furnace of Miller’s imagination and slammed across the desert with the help of an angry industrial-symphonic score. Of course, it’s generally difficult to tell just what the hell is going on at any moment, particularly in the first half-hour when various subspecies of low-lifes are yelling at each other in Australian over the clanging of noisy machinery. But you can enjoy this flick just by getting the gist of the factions and the action and rooting for the good guys as you watch them earn each other’s trust. Turan of the L.A. Times has it right: “Fury Road” is film boiled down to its essence--a crucible of sight and sound. The only disappointment is knowing that there’ll be very few films more exciting than this out the rest of the year. Expand

This reboot of the cult brand of MAD MAX from the mastermind behind its original trilogy is a felicitous remedy to the generational fatigue of CGI-rampaged action tentpoles the world is overloaded with presently. After decades of immersion into animation filmmaking (paid off with an Oscar trophy for HAPPY FEET 2006 with his co-directors), George Miller’s grandiose return to live-action feature, the first one after LORENZO’S OIL in 1992, detonates the genre film enthusiasts with its cutting-edge visual spectacles which counter-act the current trend with the majority of its staggering set pieces accomplished with blood-and-flesh stuntmen and authentic objects other than virtual fictionalisation aided by computers, more pleasingly, the film has already conducts a profitable box-office trajectory worldwide, albeit it bears a hefty budget of $150 millions.

Probably in as many years as I can remember. It is pretty much a perfect film with a lot of creativity, stunning visuals, stunning cinematography, action-packed, incredibly fast-paced and a great story which doesn´t need a lot of dialogue to move forward the events. One thing I love about it is the personality of the film, in a big part achieved thanks to its two lead actors: Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron (the true star of the film) are outstanding here. So much restraint, so much passion, so much love for their craft, perfect performances, the type of roles that become iconic. People need to see this, it is beyond words. In this world of sequels which become repetitive and too childish, Mad Max and last years Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, have proved you can make it right: top quality and commercial appeal. Incredible from the first scene to the hair-raising last one.
An almost perfect 9.5 from me.

This movie will give you a real sensation of madness. But throughout theThis movie will give you a real sensation of madness. The world is running low on water and gasoline and the whole plot depends on this fact, since the control of a water resource makes Immortan Joe the Lord of the Citadel. But throughout the movie both of these precious resources are wasted without care.

Major spoilers follow, I will give some examples for why this movie made me cringe:

Mad Max seems to be mad in a very cliché way: He hallucinates about people who he could not save in the past. But only at the beginning of the movie and near the end, totally not plot related. It's like the makers remembered Max was actually mad and had to somehow contribute to this picture. It does not work at all and makes little sense.
After Furiosa steals Joe's wives, half of the Citadel follows her (yes, the movie is a two hour long chase scene) and they take Mad Max with them as a blood sack. My girlfriend asked why they need him for the chase and the answer is: They don't, but if they would not take him to the chase he would not take part in the movie.
The chase has its ups and downs, there are fights (about 60-80% of the movie are fights) but eventually Furiosa and Max always get away. When they get away a little too far, their truck breaks and they have to repair it, so the bad guys catch up a little and the movie goes on. This happens three times in 120 minutes, it's a shame for professional writers to use such devices to artificially prolong the tension...

The writers also tried to break the manly hero scheme and give Furiosa some attention. It ends up with Max's character being so bleak that one does not really remember a thing he said throughout the movie, except because it was so stereotypical that you shivered ("Hope is a mistake."). The gestures of other characters towards Furiosa to assert her leading position are ridiculous: Like Max giving away his last sniper shot to her and serving as an object to lean her rifle on.

The part with the bad guy (Nux) turns good and becomes best friends with one of Joe's wives (while sentimental piano music is playing in the background) after talking to her for 35 seconds makes this movie seem like a joke.

The weakest point of the movie is the plot: Furiosa steals Joe's wives, wanting to bring them to the "green place". After 80 minutes of chase, they finally reach their destination and find out the place does not exist anymore. It would be a good ending, at least it would make the movie a little less stereotypical after a whole movie of exploding cars. But the characters decide to just go back from where they came. Yes. Really. That is the whole movie. They go from A to B being chased, then go back from B to A so the movie can go on and a showdown may take place. I cannot imagine the whole script being longer than 3 pages, except every car explosion was scripted separately.

As said in the beginning, this movie gives you a real experience of madness. After you watch this movie, you realise you actually already live in a world full of War Boys who only long for gasoline, explosions and violence. They go and watch Mad Max: The Fury Road and other cheap Hollywood blockbusters and then rate it 10/10 on the Internet. It opens your eyes to the wasteland we live in: The cinematic wasteland, where good plot and dialogue are the rarest resources on Earth. The end scene, where Max disappears in the crowd is a perfect prediction to what will happen to this movie: It will be forgotten, because there is nothing worth remembering.

One point for ridiculous and totally over the top villains. Made me laugh, but only for 2 minutes of 120.

I Loved it then and I'm glad to say the legacy Lives on and it doesn't disappoint. I wasn't able to sit back at all during the movie, the constant action and twists had me either on the edge of my seat or jumping up and down with my brother screaming. The only thing I feel could have been improved upon was diving more into the past of Max himself, he is one of the most iconic characters ever for many Action movie fans and yet, in a movie made to continue his Glory, he was explained very little. Those who know of his past of course understood some of the finer points in the film. All in all, I truly enjoyed my experience and I will definitely be buying it upon release. 9 out of 10. Expand

Honestly I was a bit worried when I first sat in the cinema to watch this movie because I was unsure if the movie will live up to my expectation based on what I'd seen on the trailer or not. This is because most of the movies I watched previously only appears really interesting in the trailer but not in real premiere. However, this one totally blew me off. It is super duper cool and worth it! I haven't watched previous Mad Max series and when I heard that since this is going to be a sequel to past Mad Max series, I thought I wouldn't understand the plot but it turns out there's not much to understand anyway. The plot is straightforward although there are some parts which leaves me into question but I guess I might need to refer that to past series. Anyway to be honest the plot is just normal to me but I do give top marks for the action of this movie. I mean this is literally a full action movie. Right from the beginning to the end there's always action scenes which leaves the audience in awe and I think with this kind of movie, the plot don't mind that much to me. This movie is like the apocalypse version of Fast and Furious and for gamers who have played apocalyptic games, this reminds me a lot about games such as Rage or Twisted Metal. I would love to see another sequel to this! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some 30 years after the last Mad Max saga, Fury Road was awaited with much anticipation and expectation. Unfortunately the film never truly delivers (or builds on) its legacy. Sure, there's spectacular explosions, a phlethora of scrap metal vehicles + some really weird characters indeed. The story itself is paper thin (even for Mad Max movies), almost non-existent really. No character in the film has any depth, with some sort of exception of Charlize Theron's character. Max Rockatansky mainly serves as a punching bag in this movie and only catches a few rays of limelight that bounce off Furiosa (Theron). For this reason alone the movie title seems all wrong: it's way more about Furiosa than it is about Max. The film itself seems like one big car chase through the desert wasteland with some "king-of-the-hill" fighting sequences intermixed. The ending is typical "leave room for a sequel". And yes, Mad Max The Wasteland has already been announced: no sense of at least some sort of episode closure whatsoever.

I had high hopes for this movie. Because of the franchise/concept and because of George Miller in the directors chair. Compared to Beyond Thunderdome and The Road Warrior (especially that one) Fury Road never truly delivers. Not on characters, certainly not on story and only half-hearted on action sequences and scenery.

Did critics lose their mind, got paid off, or is this just the time of 'anything goes'? This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I dislike the cinema. A lot. A'holes stuffing their faces with giant bags of crisps - mobile phones - people talking - like jeez you fat-assed loudmouth can you not go for 2 hours without eating something? - Unreal. But much as I dislike the overpriced cinematic experience I decided with this movie It was must see on the big screen. Boy was I wrong. But first things first...

The main protagonist says next to nothing for the entire movie, in fact for a lot of it he is basically helpless. A lot has been made about the whole 'feminist over current' which runs throughout the movie. For me it wasn't that big a deal as this is essentially a science fiction. In fact it becomes laughable towards the end of the movie when the dessert dwelling motorcycle gang remove their helmets and WHOA! - what a surprise! - they are octogenarian gun-wielding badass grannies!! One of them manages to almost spit every time she uses the word 'man' or 'men', trust me proper feminists would be rolling their eyes at this hammy, gratuitous, matronising scripting.

As for the core of the movie itself, like others have said its basically one big car chase. I knew it would be, so no big surprise there, but I had 2 problems with this. The first was the speed of the action. The action sequences are happening so bloody quickly that you will struggle to take it all in. At some points you will even lose track of who is who particularly on the bonnet / roof / trailer fight scenes. It's a visual assault, but its just too much on a cinema screen - I reckon it will be better on a 42" or 50" lcd.

The other thing is the pace of the car chases. The old ‘speed up the film’ trick is used to convey a sense of breakneck speed during the chases but as soon as a realtime stunt is performed everything noticeably slows down, the car that flips around and drives in reverse being one example - its like one minute they are doing 110mph and next its 40mph then back to 110mph again.

Also, when Max stops the gang on the Salt Plain and suggests they turn around and go back towards the enemy that has been trying to kill them for the past 2 hours they all agree a bit too easily for my liking, even the old femme-warrior bats, just another suspend belief moment I guess.

On the positive side the setting, vehicles, wardrobe dept all nailed it. I was sort of reminded of that game called RAGE from a few years back in terms of the overall design theme.

To summarise Mad Max: Fury Road is definitely worth seeing because as an action movie it delivers in spades. I just hope that the director has satisfied his desire to placate the marauding feminist hordes and that the next movie is closer to the ethos of the original and it’s sequel.

Although as a titular character, he doesn't really do much in this movie. As we all know, Furiosa, played flawlessly by Charlize Theron, is the one who steal the show and she's the reason this movie exist. It is so pleasing to see a powerful female character where this has been an issue lately in hollywood. Worth a rental for the action (once it's out on rental release). Probably a bit of the scope is lost on the small screen, and look for re-runs of this on TBS/USA in about 3 years.

As a matter of fact, I was actually pretty conflicted on whether I loved or hated it up until about a third of the way through the movie. The opening scene felt a little sudden and underplayed and some of the early concepts had me worried that the whole movie might turn into one big cliche. But after the initial rush of excitement started to die down, Hardy and Theron's phenomenal acting prowess subtly emerged and really made the movie shine. Truly gripping moments, both horrible and touching raised the bar and the supporting cast made real contributions to the story instead of just being background noise. No, there wasn't much in the way of any sort of back story and yes, the movie was virtually a 2 hour long chase but I really can't say that I feel that either of these facts detract from the film. While I'm generally not a fan of this particular style, Miller plunged into this movie and never hit the brakes yet excelled on virtually all fronts.

Hardy was spot on as an almost silent protagonist, yet for his lack of dialogue, he still manages to convey a great deal more than you would expect. His moment with Furiosa (Theron) near the end of the film made it hard not to get a little emotional as it hits you with a profound sense of intimacy between the two minus any sort of sexual focus. Theron portrays an almost conflicting blend of sensuality and battle hardened warrior goddess. It's her eyes that initially grab you, a dusky gaze that makes your legs go weak and then she goes straight bad ass and just wows you from beginning to end.

Constant action, surprisingly deep character interaction and an unapologetic thrill ride from the word go, another masterpiece from Miller and well worth the trip (or as in my case, multiple trips) to the theater

Essentially it's 1 long lorry journey with lots of explosions and loud noises. However it sure is an awesome ride. The action is intense and barely stops throughout the film. The jaw dropping scenery coupled with intense soundtrack and effects make sure you're on the edge of your seat for the whole journey. However you do feel like all the action is disguising an incredibly basic and uninteresting plot and in terms of acting it's a mixed bag with some good performances and some not so good (looking at you RHW). Fans of mindless action will love this and it is impressive in so many ways, but it just doesn't have the substance to warrant me giving it any more than a (strong) 7 out of 10.

Overrated? Yes.
Should you watch it anyway? Yes.

I guess the girl he sees from time to time is supposed to be the child he lost in the first film despite his child being a boy toddler in that.
With that said though the film grips you and never lets go with kick ass action and stunts. The visuals and musical score are also amazing. Mad Max Fury Road hopefully makes enough money for another film. However a 5th film that takes a little bit more time developing Max. And maybe on just a little bit less acid lol.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a disappointing re-boot of a classic, low budget original. In fact, it disrespects the original. In the original Mad Max, the lead character was actually mad, angry. In this re-boot he isn't even the lead. Furiosa is , and she is the Alpha. Mad max is along for a ride in this uber feminist take on this idea of a post apocalyptic, gas obsessed world. But wait, you say, the idea behind this film is that strong women can stand up to tyranny and create a better world, one that doesn't even contain men. Ok, so why is the Utopian green place dry up, most of the women dead, and their solution is to turned back to take over Joes' empire? Isn't this ending a slap in the face of feminism, as portrayed in this film? Women couldn't do it on their own so they took what a man created, but they are going to make it a better, gentler place? Don't get me started on the symbolism of the hot wives, in the desert, spraying themselves with the second most important liquid in this fantasy world, water , spilling it all over, drinking it , spitting it out. A symbolism for male seed and the value, or lack their of, that the modern feminist movement places on men? You decide. There are lots of little anti-male nuggets in this film.

Come on! First, feminism, by its very definition is equal pay for equal work. period. It's NOT about male roles vs female roles ( or stereotypes ). Second, who says women are kinder and gentler in an post apocalyptic world? Lots of examples of women that get drunk on money and power in today's society, why are they held in a better light in Mad Max vs the men? This is all misguided feminism. I guess, since women are better at their core then men, they really don't fart or pop either. Stupid drivel.

"Mad Max Fury Road" is the most fun I can remember having at the theater in... well FOREVER. As a long time watcher of "Mad Max" I had expected great car chases, little dialogue and lots of explosions. What I didnt expect was the show to be genuinely funny. It's SO over the top that several times during the movie my friends and I turned to each other and laughed hysterically.

I wont go into the specifics of the story-- except that Max joins up with Furiosa at some point (which we all know from the trailer). They speed across the desert while in hot pursuit by Immortan Joe and hundreds of cars, trucks, motorcycles and other weird hybrids. Add some guys on swaying poles throwing fireballs (Polecats) and a guy playing a guitar/flame thrower while dangling from chains (Doof Warrior). I dont think I want that job.

Charlize Theron is wonderful (as always) as Furiosa. Tom Hardy is a great new Mad Max (the man of few words). There is some controversy about the supposed "feminist" message of "Fury Road". I'm going to ignore those people since its not even worth a reply except to say "Yes there may be male or female leads in a movie. That doesnt mean anyone has an agenda."

In conclusion: sure the story in "Fury Road" is slim and the dialogue is clunky at times. But so what? "Max Max" is a TON of fun. Just suspend reality and hang on for the ride. You'll be glad you did.

It was appealing visually and it was appealing in that it could tell a story through not just words but through visuals as well. This movie seem to do well in the character development department and the dialog was minimal but it complimented the films feel. Tom Hardy was a great Max and has portrayed Max in a very honest way. The only thing stopping me from giving it the full 10 out of 10 is that the film feels like it is more about Furiosa and not Max. I think the film needed a little more Max and I'm not saying that he needs more character development or he needs to talk more. I think that would have made the film worse, but I think it should have felt more like we were watching Max help Furiosa on her journey but I felt as if we were watching Furiosa's journey. It is still a very action packed thrill ride with very good effects that are visually stimulating and exciting. This is a movie that has a lot to offer. It is a must see and it is executed very well.
