This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is without a doubt a masterpiece. One of my favorite movies and definetly the best movie of 2015. (sorry the revenant and the martian) The story is good enough for an action packed, adrenaline fueled, kick-ass, heavy metal and car movie. Everything is great about this film. The characters are amazing, the plot is great, the cinematography is some of the best I have ever seen and the explosions and all the crashes look amazing. I am glad they did so many things practical and without CGI, because some shots that do have CGi in them, take you out of the moment. The acting is fenomenal. Tom Hardy is acting at his best, and each and every war-boy looks fantastic. Immortan Joe is a very cool villain and I was satisfied when he got taken out. One outstanding scene from the movie i wanted to mention, is when Immortan Joe and his army of War-Boys find out that Max, Furiosa etc. go back to the citadel while its unguarded. It gave me goosebumps to see countless goons run to their car and go after the war-rig while the music kicked back in. The music btw is SUPERB!. Every time the weird, blind guitar guy got into a shot, it made me feel like a badass. He is without a doubt one of my fav part about the whole film. The way the fure comes out of the guitar is SO **** COOL I CANT EVEN EXPLAIN.I was so happy when they included him in a fight scene near the end of the movie. So yeah, Mad Max: Fury Road is one of the best action movies ever made. Everything is so well made. I recommend it to everybody. Expand

The movie is an absolute must-see - let's get that out of the way from the top. For me, it's probably the best, most artistic action film since the original Matrix. Furiosa (Charlize Theron) is clearly the best heroine since Ripley in the Alien films. Going in, I figured the action would be fatiguing, and the desert backdrop would get samey after a while, but I couldn't have been more wrong on both counts. Miller's inventiveness knows know bounds. If I had to point to a slightly weak link in the chain, it would be the Immortan Joe character. No doubt, he's fun to look at and provides some of the comedy, but as a character, he is not nearly as personally threatening as the chief baddies in the original Mad Max and Road Warrior flicks. But the supreme creativity and the acrobatics in the driving sequences are so over-the-top phenomenal, you'll be conscious of the silly grin on your face when things finally let up and you allow yourself to exhale. Mad Max didn't disappoint. For a movie with lighter dialogue and amped-up action sequences that will blow anything Michael Bay could ever hope to achieve out of the water, Mad Max has a bit of heart (though it's still somewhat light for plot and character development - only offering what you need to buy into the movie) . It's gloriously over the top but somehow remains somewhat visceral. The magic is happening as the result of well-crafted action sequences that progress appropriately, instead of throwing all sorts of extra obstacles and insanity "just because". Everything is focused and paced well, and I really enjoyed that about MM. While the first half of the movie is entertaining, it's the final half hour that really had me on the edge of my seat. I'm not certain there's supposed to be any other Mad Max movies to follow this reboot, but they'll have to work wonders to top the action bar set here. Expand

The landscape is bleaker and the action is more pumped. Tom Hardy & Charlize Theron play rebels who are trying to escape the evil overlords, or at least outrun them, but forget story and dialogue: This is all about spectacular stunts, incredible art direction and furious action. The relentless pace and virtually non-stop clashes are sometimes so hectic that it's hard to figure out what's happening. The thick accents and noisy sound sometime make the dialogue a challenge, but it doesn't really matter. The massive soundtrack by Junkie XL adds another level of intensity. See it on a huge screen, in 3D, but make sure you sit far enough from the screen to take in the whole image without swinging your head left and right too much. Don't wait until this comes out for home viewing; this is one of the few movies you must experience on a large theater screen.

As a matter of fact, I was actually pretty conflicted on whether I loved or hated it up until about a third of the way through the movie. The opening scene felt a little sudden and underplayed and some of the early concepts had me worried that the whole movie might turn into one big cliche. But after the initial rush of excitement started to die down, Hardy and Theron's phenomenal acting prowess subtly emerged and really made the movie shine. Truly gripping moments, both horrible and touching raised the bar and the supporting cast made real contributions to the story instead of just being background noise. No, there wasn't much in the way of any sort of back story and yes, the movie was virtually a 2 hour long chase but I really can't say that I feel that either of these facts detract from the film. While I'm generally not a fan of this particular style, Miller plunged into this movie and never hit the brakes yet excelled on virtually all fronts.

Hardy was spot on as an almost silent protagonist, yet for his lack of dialogue, he still manages to convey a great deal more than you would expect. His moment with Furiosa (Theron) near the end of the film made it hard not to get a little emotional as it hits you with a profound sense of intimacy between the two minus any sort of sexual focus. Theron portrays an almost conflicting blend of sensuality and battle hardened warrior goddess. It's her eyes that initially grab you, a dusky gaze that makes your legs go weak and then she goes straight bad ass and just wows you from beginning to end.

Constant action, surprisingly deep character interaction and an unapologetic thrill ride from the word go, another masterpiece from Miller and well worth the trip (or as in my case, multiple trips) to the theater

It had many difficulties including being stuck in development hell for years, filming being repeatedly delayed, and difficulties in securing locations to shoot the film. Miller had plans to do the film as far back as 2003 with Gibson intended to reprise his role but took a further 10 years before tuition. But fortunately Miller persevered through all this turmoil to once again to return to the driver's seat of the franchise and create this masterpiece that is his best film yet.

At the start of the film we watch as Max (Tom Hardy) is captured by an army known as the War Boys ruled by a dictator known as Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne). Shortly after being captured one of Joe's soldiers called Furiosa (Theron) drives off in an armoured fuel truck with his wives so that they do not have to bare the children of a monstrous man and tries to drive to her childhood homeland. Because of this Joe sets out with an army to chase her down and Max is used as a blood bank attached to one of the chasing cars. Eventually after freeing himself he joins Furiosa and helps in fighting off the legions of War Boys sent by Joe in a non stop chase spanning the entirety of the film.

And when I say non stop chase, I mean non stop chase. From the very opening of the film to the end they don't go 5 minutes without some exciting action sequence with almost the entire scene being part of some chase or fight scene. Whilst under a lesser filmmakers control such action could be repetitive, Miller keeps it original by varying the action sequences and the beautiful scenery making it a masterpiece to watch.

Also the action is all so well made. In contrast to a lot of recent blockbusters like Fast and Furious, most of the film is done with practical effects and stunt work with CGI used very sparingly making for a much more high octane and realistic action sequences. They pull off everything in this film flipping cars, people dangling from or even jumping between speeding cars and even being engulfed flames. It's hard to tell who's more insane, the people coming up with these incredible stunts or those who take part in them. The scale of the stunts alone is impressive, but the consistent creativity and range of the stunts within the chase should keep any fan of action gripped to the screen.

On top of the mayhem of the chase sequences, the entire world is absolutely insane. It's strange to think that the same mind to create the likes of Happy Feet and Babe: Pig in the City also creates a world like this with the likes of woman having their breasts milked as a resource, a legion of pale thrash metal dressed soldiers and vehicles ranging from a tank plated gas truck to a barge led by a guitarist who shoots a flamethrower out of his guitar. It's a compliment to Miller's imaginative style that he can create such a bizarre whilst progressing the story and having constant action.

Beyond carrying out incredible stunts, the cast also give some impressive performances. Tom Hardy does a great job filling in the dusty leather jacket as Mad Max. We're quickly reintroduced to him at the beginning of the film so newcomers to the franchise are familiar with his back-story with Max explaining how he lost his family and blames himself, with their loss leaving him with nothing but the instinct to survive. Oddly this short explanation of his character is the most that Hardy speaks in the film. Instead of dialogue Hardy conveys most of his character through his look of exhaustion as a man who has been through far too much.

Then there's Theron as the metal armed and strong Furiosa who is amongst the likes of Sigourney Weaver in Aliens and Michelle Yeoh in Supercop as one of the best female action heroes. She often steals the show in the film as a more human character than Max, although just as dangerous as he is at one point even brawling him and showing herself to be just as deadly and resourceful as he is. There's a great deal of mystery to her back-story, with most of her history just being hinted upon. Also similarly to Hardy, Theron communicates so much through her hardened look showing herself to be the product of the destroyed world in which they live.

I just love everything in this movie. I love the detail in the way that all of the cars are adapted for the desert environment. I love the beautiful bright cinematography. I love that the chase lasting from start to end never for a second loses steam. Miller's imagination mixed with an incredible crew has created a glorious Symphony of madness and violence unlike any that had come before it. Apparently Hardy has already signed on for three more Mad Max films and with Miller's creative mind behind them they'll definitely be something to look forward to.

So, what else is there to say but . . . This is great stuff! No, really, I’m a sucker for harrowing visions of sick societies challenged by damaged goods. The visions here are horrifyingly realized in the blast furnace of Miller’s imagination and slammed across the desert with the help of an angry industrial-symphonic score. Of course, it’s generally difficult to tell just what the hell is going on at any moment, particularly in the first half-hour when various subspecies of low-lifes are yelling at each other in Australian over the clanging of noisy machinery. But you can enjoy this flick just by getting the gist of the factions and the action and rooting for the good guys as you watch them earn each other’s trust. Turan of the L.A. Times has it right: “Fury Road” is film boiled down to its essence--a crucible of sight and sound. The only disappointment is knowing that there’ll be very few films more exciting than this out the rest of the year. Expand

If you can only see one film at the movies, make sure it's this. Non-stop action from start to finish.
But skip the 3D, there aren't much 3D effects and it only distracts from being able to enjoy this masterpiece fully.

It's very fast, action packed, full of great effects (especially the practical ones), a simple yet coherent story, drama, and great acting by Hardy, Theron, and Hoult. I can't wait to see what George Miller pulls out of his mind next because Fury Road is a great time at the movies and I'm definitely down to seeing what he makes of this rebooted Mad Max series. There may be little narrative continuity with the past Mad Max movies but it certainly captures the right feel and atmosphere.

I love the attention to detail in the sets, props and costumes that make the movie so immersive. This is the first movie in while which I watched again to catch the little details I missed when I watched it the first time. Some of the grunted, screamed and muttered dialogue needs subtitles...but that just adds to the chaos and strangeness. Some of the back stories could have been fleshed out a bit and leave a lot to the imagination ....but guess that was also done on purpose.

The acting is pretty good from all concerned with Thomas Hardy being suitably grunty and mad..and Charlize Theron being just the right amount of bad-ass to be enjoyable.

All in all worth a movie ticket ....or two.

Very good - almost irritatingly so - it is epic and visceral on a scale which, upon leaving the theatre, leaves you emotionally drained and stunned.

Truly good, the only flaws were possibly the hard-transition edits.

As a whole, this movie was fantastic. The only reason i don't give it a perfect ten is because it think the story could have been richer and more thrilling. But the action, man, the action was pure adrenaline.

This movie though was great. A massive car chase mixed with INSANELY close and claustrophobic fight scenes.

Almost all done in practical effects, only using CGI where needed (except for ONE scene where it stands out like a sore thumb, but they were trying to accomplish a specific set of circumstances. Just a shame, you can really tell.)

Really fun movie.

I do not believe 3D is a necessity to enjoy. It is an intense thrill ride that is artfully done with phenomenal frame by frame visuals. I describe the movie as metal mayhem and destruction. There is not a thick plot but you quickly forget that once you are submersed into the Mad Max world and you can't escape until the chase is over and you've realized you drank your entire soda, urinated yourself in the theater, and you were so glued to the screen you didn't realize it. Certain movies come around every so often and they evoke emotions that you remember from past movies that you remember exactly when and where you experienced it. Movies like Jurassic Park and The Matrix just to name a few. They changed the way movies were made. I hope Mad Max is that movie for new films. The practical stunts and the minimum use of CGI is what Hollywood needs to do. Work on finding a good balance between the two so I actually feel fear for on screen characters. Hate it or love it but its my opinion and I put this movie in my top 10 best of my lifetime (35 years).... so far. Expand

This is not a perfect movie...it is though the perfect Mad Max movie and its everything that I had hoped for. Real action, crazy stunts, a lunatic hellish world, memorable characters, and even more surprising a touching score that accents the action to its dizzying heights but also quite moving in the quiet moments. Yes the movie does belong to Furiosa..so get used it..she belongs with the other greats such as Ripley and Sarah Connors (T2 Sarah). This is action er that offers something different than the what we have been used to, mainly CGI superhero slugfests..and I still enjoy those, but there is something deeply primal that is missing from those movies and this movie is the definition of primal action at its best. My initial thoughts of the film when I left the cinema were "that was mental, but quite good I guess". But then I realised, a week later, I was still thinking about what I had seen, the action, the bizarre charaters, the fact that Charlize Theron totally owned the film....

There is a great plot to be found in the film and there is depth that I didn't totally grasp at first and I think that's down to not being quite in the right frame of mind to watch the film.

Basically, prepare yourselves for a totally crazy film that defies all logic. It's a post apocalyptic adventure where there is no logic. This isn't our time. It's their time. They are The Mad.

I signed up just to make it clear to people who are interested in the action movie mad max is that this movie will note take your hand and walk at your side all the way explaining things to you like you are retarded. There is a lot of reference and small details that really makes the experience of the movie special.

I just find it funny how people create a bunch of fake accounts just to try to put a stain in the movie's image. Then I checked the profiles that seemed a little more original and they underrated another great movies while overrating really mediocre ones. Some people even claimed that the movie hasn't a plot, no story and ended asking why they all started running with their cars in the first place, ha ha. Must be a joke.

Anyway, I'll blame the natural divergence of tastes to keep things polite.
Sorry for my english.

We waited 30 damn years for this sequel, God it was worth it. These films aren't big on story or character development, but I think it's more the idea of the series. You have to get lost in these films like the other characters are. You'll understand why they have do the things they do in this terrible, post-apocalyptic world, and have a good time while you're at it.

That being said, Mad Max: Fury Road is just as absurd, bizarre, unique, and... well... mad. Tom Hardy gives a funny and great performance as Max, he's a great addition to the series and a good replacement for Mel Gibson(who had a quick cameo). Charlize Theron is also cool, but I think Nicholas Hoult was far more interesting. He absolutely disappeared under the white makeup and surprised me of how much effort he was putting into this performance. I love seeing George Miller expand on his universe and really show us just how screwy the future could be if society truly would fall apart. The bigger budget makes this movie look and sound amazing, and somehow, it still contains the same feel as the first two Mad Max films("Beyond Thunderdome" kinda got bland).

I look forward to future installments. Continue expanding this world, George Miller. Take all my money.

This film brought out what looked like the Max he had always wanted to make. The film had mesmerizing actionsThis film was an absolutely phenomenal action film through and through, and definitely George Millers greatest masterpiece yet. This film brought out what looked like the Max he had always wanted to make. The film had mesmerizing actions sequences partially due to the lack of shaky cam one million shot action takes and keeping you on the action at all times and also due in part to the beautiful cinematography the film carried. The setting is also a lovely vibrant colour that makes each scene look eye watering.
Now the characters. Max was the mentally tormented Max we'd really wanted to see over all these films (his previous incarnations never really being mad but just angry) and Tom Hardy brought a nice presence on screen. His dialogue was short and to the point at most times as of his one instinct: survive. His accent was indistinguishable and voice coarse due to obviously not having much social interaction since the world fell. These were nice subtle touches.
Now Charlize Theron is probably one of the greatest heroines since Ripley in Aliens, and brought a grit and determination to the film. Her and Hardy worked off of each other well with contrasting and harmonizing qualities.
Also, Miller has created some extra subtle but brilliant scene in this film outside of all the action, for instance one scene when Max is about to shotgun someone's hand off to detach his chains, with this scene building up quickly, obviously and brilliantly. Also, in this scene (and many others) there are call backs to the previous Mad Max films that don't feel forced into this film for nostalgia but actually work within this film by themselves as well.
However, to have anything to criticize about this film would possibly be the dialogue. It's pretty plainly written and could be done by most 18 year old film students. Additionally to that, the kind of romance that blooms between Nux and the bride seems a bit blunt and stupid really, not really advancing the story and making a character you wish had good intentions but was still bat **** insane into a heroic whelping softy. And finally, the stories way of concluding itself (backtracking of sorts) seemed pretty ridiculous but it still worked well, and for the majority of these criticisms to be honest don't really matter too much when you watch this film as an action film, and that's what you should go see it as. All these people saying it was a bad film due to such and such aren't looking at this film as an action film, which IS what it is.
Overall, with beautiful visual eye candy, ecstatically amazing action sequences, solid performances and a good bit of humour here and there Mad Max has ended up being an action film to remember and the pinnacle of the franchise (so far). Lets hope for more action films to live up to and surpass the quality of this one!

Big Dumb Awesome Motor Fueled wasteland movie.
that's how I'd sum this up, the entire movie from start to finish is basically a heavy metal world made as realistically as possible.
Now, I've been out of the loop ever since he original mad max, but I get the feeling that the world changed since the old days, and that, despite all the stuff you're seeing and how alien the movie looks from the starting point to now, that mad max is very much not a reboot.
The movie is dumb, let me be clear here, virtually everything, the entire plot, all of it, stupid.
but it's the reason it's stupid is because the movie is using its plot as a blatant excuse to watch car armies blow each other up in a wasteland so convincingly alien in nature that it's hard to believe this place used to be earth, it feels more like mars, one of the big standout moments being the massive dust-storm which was so large, so violent that it was generating electricity.
it's clear that mad max is telling its tale through the world, and not through the main character, back in the day I recall max being a guy who actually spoke and did stuff, this later version of max feels noticeably broken, and he's quiet throughout the entire movie, save for internal monologue and him giving orders or just saying his name twice near the end.

in fact, my biggest gripe with mad max is how max himself just....isn't.
there's not much to him, and the only moment you really see him doing something badass, he does it in the background, he basically goes off to deal with the people pursuing their war vehicle at night, the air is quiet and a lot of waiting happens.
then suddenly this massive explosion, muffled by the fog in the area, resounds off in the distance, and max comes in, coated with blood and carrying a ton of supplies from the guys he just discreetly destroyed.
there's this sense that max isn't really trying, and when he finally does do something badass, it's almost scary, they don't say anything when he returns, they just move on.
Max himself is very reserved, he's not interested in helping these people until the very end, he suffers from hallucinations, and he's genuinely "Mad" as the title of the movie makes clear.
the movie's plot itself is stupid, lead chick takes concubines from warlord, warlord gets mad, goes after them, pregnant concubine dies when warlord accidentally runs her over, warlord gets madder.
near the end of the journey, the group realizes "Hey, warlord was being stupid and took his ENTIRE ARMY FROM THE CITADEL! let's go back and take it over!" warlord dies, happy ending.
Immortan joe, like max, suffers from being a background villain, he gets a decent amount of screentime, speaks more, but there's not much in the way of his character development, save for what you see in the world around him. Joe is living a lie and trying to turn it into a functional society, he's a bad guy, but for human reasons. but there's little in the way of his character outside of "shouty guy in horse tooth mask who owns people and makes them do his bidding" and that's about it. virtually every other line he has is him shouting orders, and that's about it.

Mad Max is a solid movie, not for what it tells through the characters, but what it tells through the world, and this world is masterfully created. it's a compelling look at a ludicrous, insane wasteland that shapes the people. Max himself needed more characterization, as he seems to be the only person the wasteland doesn't say much about.

It's a stupid, explosive, crazy, dumb, awesome movie that doesn't need to do much to say a lot. but when you step back and take a look at the plot, it's **** stupid.
in fact, it's the level of stupid that you just can't hate yourself for enjoying, because the stupid is the best excuse to sit back and admire the action, the craziness, the guy in a flamethrower guitar.

it's just one big dumb awesome heay metal fantasy movie, and that's all it wants to be.

It's a septuagenarian's gauntlet thrown in the face of today's Hollywood directors. It's a $150 million love letter to George Miller's devoted fans. And it's the ultimate expression of a sociopolitical message that has been built throughout the Mad Max movie franchise, that if mankind wants to do more than simply survive, it has to cast off the shackles of toxic masculinity. Fury Road is the 4th installment of the Mad Max series and is full of cars and trucks exploding...What more do you want?
But seriously Mad Max Fury Road is possibly the best Action movie to be released in the past few years. The Effects are amazing , most of witch being practical effects and only a few scenes using green screen. The use of mostly Practical effects adds to the level of realism and immersion with the film and it's great to see Gorge Miller stay true to the Original Mad Max. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron do phenomenal jobs in there rolls and keep the action and story going well looking like total badasses. The plot in Fury Road is fairly straight forward, It's pretty much a escort mission across the dessert well being hunted down by crazy people, But leave it to George Miller to make that extremely interesting with it's own twists and surprises. If you were a fan of the original Mad Max's I'm sure you will love Fury Road but if you are a new comer to the series you may not fully understand whats happening but most likely still enjoy what your seeing. There are a few slow/corny scenes in the movie that fell slightly out of place but other then those few the pacing is quite steady and good.
All in all go see Fury Road, you will most likely not regret it and especially if you are able to see it in theaters.

Perfectly cast, directed and shot, with a harsh palette of colors and memorable imagery (the guitarist, eh?) Mad Max: Fury Road is a film that will stand on its own.

I guess the girl he sees from time to time is supposed to be the child he lost in the first film despite his child being a boy toddler in that.
With that said though the film grips you and never lets go with kick ass action and stunts. The visuals and musical score are also amazing. Mad Max Fury Road hopefully makes enough money for another film. However a 5th film that takes a little bit more time developing Max. And maybe on just a little bit less acid lol.

So basically another Mad Max film!! But I’m gonna go out on a limb and say this one’s my new favourite If you liked the previous entries, this is definitely one you should check out. George Miller is on fantastic form with this film and it’s amazing to think it took him this long to re-capture it. Tom Hardy is well cast in his role, though I do believe Nicholas Hoult is the best actor in the whole film and both of them complement Charlize Theron’s performance very well. There is never a dull moment, the characters are really good and I actually think this would be a pretty good jumping on point for newcomers. I would recommend seeing the first two movies prior to seeing this and some long time fans may be a bit confused by some elements that have been added to the film, mainly Max’s flashbacks. This is absolutely brilliant, though be warned there is a bit of a gore factor at points, though it’s not to the extent that it will be absolutely wince inducing. Many people are calling this the best action movie of the last 5 years and while I personally still think that honour belongs to the Avengers this is still a contender for that title.

All that’s left to say is what a movie, WHAT A LOVELY MOVIE!!!

Mad Max: Fury Road has the rare trailer that accurately depicts the experience that you are going to get walking into that movie theater. It's almost non-stop action with a minimalist plot.

Now I have seen some people complain about that aspect of the movie - the plot of the film and little character development. And I have to admit that it did grate on me a little, my more accurate score would be 8.5. But that is a very minor nitpick because a movie that is a visual spectacle would only suffer in having a complicated plot. The story in Mad Max: Fury Road is simple, but it works.

Typically saying "much action, little plot" would be an insult, but George Miller manages to create a masterpiece that, similarly to last year's Lego Movie, puts to shame the inferiors and shows just how glorious things could be when done right.

Setting in future, the plot's apocalyptic society and sexual politics are pretty straightforward; combining the insanity, hyper-accelerating and exhilarating actions without repetition of styles, all are presented in a creative way which is rarely seen in recent films. While it's not necessary anyway, the film does not have much of characters development but both Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, as well as the presence of Nicholas Hoult have a great screen time of heroic performances. Meanwhile, musics by Junkie XL sound loud, tremendous and powerful (likely influenced by Hans Zimmer's style) surprisingly suit the film well, including the cool and classic cinematography by John Seale, Miller is able to deliver more than what audiences might be expecting, even with overdose f action scenes, it is still effectively balanced with emotional moments and inspiring messages. "Mad Max: Fury Road" 10 Scale Rating: 9.0 (Fantastic) ...

The Good: Quite possibly one of the greatest action films of the last 20 years, if not of all time. The film retains the gritty tone of the original films, but with updated effects and choreography that is mind-blowing. "Pulse-pounding" and "edge of your seat action" are terms that get thrown around a lot in reviews of films like this one, but they are completely appropriate here. Almost the entirety of the movie is spent on one "war rig", but there is a certain level of twisted beauty in the simplicity of it all. The vehicles are fascinating beasts of twisted metal and gasoline. The characters are hopeless, yet determined. The world itself is barren, hot, and unforgiving. This all sets the tone perfectly as you watch the protagonists struggle through it all in a series of brilliantly designed chases, brutal battles, and bloody deaths. Hardy was well cast as the titular Mad Max, grunting and fighting while uttering few words. Nicholas Hoult is unrecognizable as Nux, one of Immortan Joe's (the main villain of the film) "War Boys". When he's on-screen, he definitely stands out and Hoult is becoming quite the character actor. The real star of the film, however, was Charlize Theron. If anyone ever wondered if she could pull off an action film, wonder no longer. She not only pulls it off, but excels. Entertaining from start to finish, Mad Max: Fury Road is already in the running for best film of 2015.

The Bad: Not that it matters TOO much, but the plot is not only paper thin, but mostly non-existent. It's a small detail, but prevents the film from being absolutely perfect. Aside from that, some of "the Wives", who are a plot device that helps drive the film, were somewhat annoying and uninteresting.

Mostly every character is flushed out and the action doesn't slow the movie down. The movie does take it's time to really get into the story, and that's a good thing. It introduces us to the world and characters Max will be interacting with. Furiosa is a very well rounded character and isn't just put in there to make the feminist crowed happy. George Miller wanted to create a believable character that happened to be a woman, not the other way around. She was defiantly treated as a person first and a woman second. The only complaint I have for the movie is that I would have liked for the main villain to have been more flushed out, but he isn't as bad as some movie villains these days. Everyone had a reason for being there, and the story works well because of it. All and all, Mad Max: Fury Road, will leave you satisfied while wanting more. 9/10. Expand

In 2015, we have a version with stunning and exciting special effetcs, a brilliant soundtrack and the elements that made this franchise so beloved. Hardy replaces extremely well Mel Gibson, as a man hunted by his past who's only trying to survive in an undecent and crazy world. But being honest, who steals it is Charlize Theron as Furiosa. She's so good that her character's name should be on the title. Hoult is also amazing as a dying boy who's blind to Immortan Joe's legacy and eventually becomes a key role in the film. And yes, there's still plently space to humor. George Miller made a terrific film, who manages to be as good as or perhaps even better than the movies released three decades ago. Expand

But besides that amazing action, they gave borderline breathing space for the action which is just enough to don't turn you off, the story is completely distiled to it's essence and much is told visually which is amazing achievement, the music is 10/10, the movie is incredible satisfying and you feel it was worth more than the ticket price.

This is a masterpiece for me!

I hope this movie goes a long way to showing that the reason fewer action movie-goers are women isn't that we don't like explosions and car chases, it's that a lot of us like a plot we can be interested and invested in to hold the action scenes together. Really, I think that's the magic of Mad Max--it has a story that automatically piques my interest and sympathy by presenting a group of people attempting to escape a system that has brutally taken advantage of them their entire lives.

The matter of the film's depiction of disability is more problematic than its depiction of women. On the one hand, we have the disabled Charlize Theron, who is a complete badass, extremely capable, and whose disability is secondary to her character. But on the other hand, you have the depiction of the rulers in the city, whose disabilities are part of their grotesqueness, their fearsomeness. Around the time the movie came out, one redditor posted to /r/disability commenting on the experience for him of seeing, amongst all the people wearing prosthetics and makeup to render them grotesque, a person in a wheelchair with osteoimperfecta, his own disability--placing it on par with the terrifying invented conditions the movie portrays. That viewer's experience was not positive, and deserves to be recognized as an issue in the film's construction. As a sidenote, almost everyone in this dystopia seems to be white.

Despite that matter, I think this movie still represents a considerable amount of progress in the representation of women in mainstream, blockbuster movies. It's thrilling to see female characters participating actively in action sequences, rather than passively waiting to be rescued. The story is engrossing and exciting, the action never ever stops, and Tom Hardy's acting is incredible and subtle as always. I'll be shocked if this movie doesn't instantly become a classic of the genre.

George Miller's long-awaited sequel is indeed a Masterpiece! If you put it in scale of 1-10, in average, it surely does manage to get over eight. And overall it brings a new flavour to the classic Mad Max series. Of Course Mel Gibson was great, no doubt, but so is Hardy!
