This movie was just awesome. Normally sequels that were made so many years after the last movie are mostly awful, cash-grabs and made in a way that disrespects what came before. This however is a valid choice for the best Mad Max movie, hasThis movie was just awesome. Normally sequels that were made so many years after the last movie are mostly awful, cash-grabs and made in a way that disrespects what came before. This however is a valid choice for the best Mad Max movie, has great characters and breathtaking visuals. It is a long and intense chase with character development aka self discovery. It works from start to finish and I will praise the first scene where Max monologues that it is uncertain if he or the world is more crazy. Like before Mad Max is set in an apocalyptic future after civilisation ended and the survivors struggle to survive in a dessert wasteland. It is an eaten or be eaten world. He is captured by a band of warriors called Warboys who serve the legendary Immortan Joe who is worshipped by his followers like a higher being. This is the beginning of the adventure as not everyone is happy under Immortan Joes rule. The story is amazing. Many claim it is just a long chase and it is correct. But it is entertaining, intense, full of great characters and developments. I must also praise the visuals, set, cars and costumes. It is like the “Burning Man” festival up to eleven in Mad Max style. Everything is stylish and looks amazing. All of us were majorly impressed and praised the movie. Then there is the great cast. Firstly the question if someone other than Mel Gibson can play (Mad) Max Rockatansky. The answer is yes and Tom Hardy is fantastic in his role. I never question him or his performance. Charlize Theron as Furiosa might be even better and I hope she gets a spin off. Such a great performance. Those two work well together. Then we have the hidden gem with Nicholas Hoult as Nux, Hugh Keays Byrne as impressive Immortan Joe, Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus (Yes that is his name and I see it as Monty Python reference ;-) and the wives with Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Riley Keough, Abbey Lee, Zoe Kravitz and Coutney Eaton who all are strong assets. Special praise for John Howard as People Eater and the name is no mistake. The whole cast works well and I cared about them. This is the hallmark of great characters and many other movies fail in this regard. The characters and story enhance each other and made this movie so good. Of cause I must praise director George Miller who is also the writer together with Nico Lathouris and Brendan McCarthy who deserve praise too. The movie is excellent from start to finish and well crafted. Like I said the visuals are amazing and the sound track rounds it up. Overall this is probably the best movie in the franchise and a rare example of a late sequel that works. An easy recommendation for nearly everyone.… Expand

The movie has EVERYTHING and is a blast. I'm not old enough to have grown up with the other Mad Max series, but I can tell you that this is as original as it gets for myI think one critic put it best - this movie will melt your face off!

The movie has EVERYTHING and is a blast. I'm not old enough to have grown up with the other Mad Max series, but I can tell you that this is as original as it gets for my generation, so great to see a movie that was completely different from the factory-line superhero drivel hollywood keeps pumping out.

Only downside, Max hardly has any dialogue, but it sort of goes nicely with his character.

It really is this simple: Mad Max: Fury Road is about as pure an action film as you will ever get.

The simplicity does not end there as the world of Mad Max is a world where actions speak louder than words and to slow down means to die.It really is this simple: Mad Max: Fury Road is about as pure an action film as you will ever get.

The simplicity does not end there as the world of Mad Max is a world where actions speak louder than words and to slow down means to die. Based upon these traits of the film, the essence is in those actions. In this day and age of movies filled with excessive dialogue and needless commentary and filler, it is refreshing to see a movie that focuses on the action not the words. Pure action movie! As a result the cinematography comes into play as well and the film is beautifully shot! Colors explode on the screen and crash sequences are given the same treatment as a Sam Peckinpah death scene: Slow motion ballet of destruction and death. The script might be light on dialogue, but this means there must be an economy of language and as such it must continually say something and reveal something and it does. Miller does not offer explanations for things. We must fill in the blanks. As a result this simple plot becomes more complex as we supply interpretation. This can make many people feel uneasy. Yes, I said it, this film is more cerebral than the negative critics are making it. This complexity lies in the details weather it be the writing on the wall declaring that people are not things to be owned or the alter where War Boys pray before doing Joe's dirty work or the message of hope and the futile realization that in this wasteland hope is indeed a mistake. Even when the film comes to an end, there is no true indicator that everyone will "make it out" but they now have a fighting chance. But it is not the ending that matters the most, but what happens from opening to ending. In this world movement is life and survival and vibrancy. We see a myriad of cinematic tropes manifest: false hope, religion as control, mobility versus immobility, gender roles and the confusion between them, these are just a few. When I watched the film I didn't want to be analytical. I saved that for afterward and to my surprise there are significant elements open to critical analysis.

The final analysis however is that the film should be watched by anyone wishing to see a well made action film that grips you from start to finish and to be honest... this has not been the case for many films of the past decade.… Expand

The direction is very original and the music is perfectly chosen throughout the movie. To all those who complain about the story being incoherent because it solely is 2 hours of chasing, I want to say that you are conventional as hell, and that is a big flaw to me. Please, think twice.
Finally I want to say that Charlize Theron is the best thing about this picture. She is awesome ! A gorgeous woman with plenty of talent.… Expand

My hat is off to you Mr George Miller. "Mad Max Fury Road" is the most fun I can remember having at the theater in... well FOREVER. As a long time watcher of "Mad Max" I had expected great car chases, little dialogue and lots of explosions.My hat is off to you Mr George Miller. "Mad Max Fury Road" is the most fun I can remember having at the theater in... well FOREVER. As a long time watcher of "Mad Max" I had expected great car chases, little dialogue and lots of explosions. What I didnt expect was the show to be genuinely funny. It's SO over the top that several times during the movie my friends and I turned to each other and laughed hysterically.

I wont go into the specifics of the story-- except that Max joins up with Furiosa at some point (which we all know from the trailer). They speed across the desert while in hot pursuit by Immortan Joe and hundreds of cars, trucks, motorcycles and other weird hybrids. Add some guys on swaying poles throwing fireballs (Polecats) and a guy playing a guitar/flame thrower while dangling from chains (Doof Warrior). I dont think I want that job.

Charlize Theron is wonderful (as always) as Furiosa. Tom Hardy is a great new Mad Max (the man of few words). There is some controversy about the supposed "feminist" message of "Fury Road". I'm going to ignore those people since its not even worth a reply except to say "Yes there may be male or female leads in a movie. That doesnt mean anyone has an agenda."

In conclusion: sure the story in "Fury Road" is slim and the dialogue is clunky at times. But so what? "Max Max" is a TON of fun. Just suspend reality and hang on for the ride. You'll be glad you did.… Expand

Las escenas de acción son increíbles, fue un placer ver unas secuencias bien hechas y muy bien editadas en post-producción. Tom Hardy es tan buen Max como Mel Gibson y los fans estarán muy satisfechos con el resultado final. Literalmente, esta es la primera pelicula que de verdad, las 2 horas de pelicula son 2 horas de acción pura, emocionante, violenta y frenética. El clímax nunca cae, la historia nunca se vuelve floja.

A 2 hour epic of non-stop, blood pumping, action. George Miller has taken everything inspired that came after the original trilogy (such as the borderlands games) and took it under is wing while waving a flag saying "THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT". The art direction, sound design, pacing and casting was perfect. The story takes a slight backseat but fills in everything it needs to - dealing with all the themes it wants to while letting the action take a front seat.

A MUST SEE on the big screen. You may never see something quite as good as this again!… Expand

This movie isn't for everyone because everyone won't simply get it. That's fine but don't hate because you simply don't understand it. A place of only sand, water, sky, and some dirt; coins be this interesting is beyond me. Also above my pay grade which is nothing.
The movie is supposed to be set during the first and second one. Though it's crazier than any Mad Max before. This is the movie that Miller would have made first if he had the same visual effects back then. It's like a acid trip gone right. Car chases, hi octane cars, and a visual effects so that has been lost over the ages.
Practical effects over visual effects make MM the best movie of the year. The story keeps you engaged. If you loved the road warrior, then you'll love this too. The road warrior is slightly better because of it being a timeless classic but this does it justice. A movie that will have you on the edge of your sit but you will be wanting to let go and join the ride.
Again this movie isn't for people without the ability to comprehend it or those who simply don't understand. Though don't go watch it. For those fans of the original and of people who just love quality movies. Go watch it. Overall it's an awesome chapter into the amazing world of MM and will satisfy those who can appreciate an old movie in a new movie era. 9.5/10… Expand

Mad Max Fury Road is the best film of 2015, and maybe even the best action film of the decade so far. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron both do great as Max and Furiosa, the protagonists. Inmortan Joe makes for a great villain and is actually developed, unlike recent action films like Avengers: Age of Ultron or Ant-Man (The latter one was great, though). The film is brillantly directed by George Miller, who also wrote the script. The pacing is great.
Really surprised by this one, it's already on Blu-Ray, so buy it or rent it, and enjoy!… Expand

Loved this movie. I had to see it twice in one week. A lovely use of time. If you love action, sand and non stop breathtaking pictures. I just bought it and looked at it in 3 d. Even better!!

This movie is everything you want an action movie to be. Explosions everywhere, no shaky cam, excellent special effects, amazing action, fast cars, and a guitarist playing a fire guitar on the top of a truck in the middle of a high-speed persecution. Seriously. Amazing acting, AMAZING directing; and, also, very unexpectedly, a very good, emotional story. You can really feel about this characters, and know what is their true purpose, but it doesn't show you unnecessary scenes. I mean, the story is excellent, and it's also controlled perfectly so it doesn't show you things that are going to make you yawn, just the right amount to keep the constant action always in a non-stop ride.
This is truly one of the best action movies I've ever seen, it may be the best only-action movie of the entire decade. When you enter there, the first thing you'll have to keep in mind is the fact that this film is absolutely nuts.… Expand

Beautiful, bombastic and completely insane, Mad Max Fury Road is one of those rare, special films that only comes along once in a very long while. It is one of those films that, years from now, people will ask each other if they saw it on theBeautiful, bombastic and completely insane, Mad Max Fury Road is one of those rare, special films that only comes along once in a very long while. It is one of those films that, years from now, people will ask each other if they saw it on the big screen when it came out and lament that they missed it. The term "masterpiece" gets used far too often, but I can think of no other word to accurate describe this sublime amalgamation of pulpy multiplex movie action and masterful technical film-making. From its lavish production design, to its exquisite cinematography, tight, disciplined direction, exceptional stunt and physical effects work, sharp editing, and its brilliant, booming soundtrack, Fury Road is a joy to behold for anyone who is lover of the art of film and/or a lover of action.

In many ways, Fury Road is the anti-blockbuster; its almost as if an indie arthouse film murdered a Hollywood blockbuster and is wandering around wearing its skin as a disguise. Nowhere is it's daring, atypical approach more apparent that when one considers its narrative design of minimal dialogue with a strong focus on visual storytelling, and its surprisingly subversive narrative, which is biting in its criticisms of toxic masculinity, capitalism, and humanity's disregard for its dependence on our environment.

Fury Road's other great strength is it characters, who all struggle to find purpose and a meaning for existence in a world gone mad. A truly outstanding performance by Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa serves as the focus around which the rest of the film is built, and what a performance it is. Theron conveys an array of emotions with few words and a masterful display of physical acting, saying more with her eyes than many actors could with a page of dialogue. Tom Hardy is also highly skilled in this style of acting, making him an ideal choice for the taciturn and slightly deranged Max, and if one is being honest, he works better in this role when he doesn't have to speak at all. Nicholas Hoult is also outstanding as Nux, who is both the heart and humour of the film, and it is his character that has the strongest arc across the narrative.

Near perfect, 9.8. If you loved the original series you will also love this one. Tom Hardy is excellent as Max, and can't wait to see more of him. This movie literally had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! With the slower scenes feeling more like it was placed there for you to catch your breath and have your heartbeat return to normal. Yeah there are a few moments of "hmm I guess it's okay they didn't totally acknowledge why a certain character is so quick to accept a few things given their background" but if they addressed every little thing then we would have a very different movie. The story is about a post-apocalyptic wasteland - the fight for survival has twisted the remnants of mankind, turning most into mad, vicious gangs. In this chaotic world two rebels may be able to restore order while seeking their own forms of redemption: Max, a man who just wants peace after losing his wife and child and Furiosa - who thinks finding her childhood home is the answer.

What a lovely day to be talking about Mad Max: Fury Road because the trailers and the reviews for this movie have been off the walls mad, I mean 5/5 star's wow just wow. The last Mad Max film came out in 1985 so it's a been a long time and this movie was in development for a long time as well. So I was curious and a bit shady for this movie, seeing if George Miller (The director of the original films) was going to bring to the table. Now after seeing the movie and having a long thought about it, this movie is freaking awesome, no actually this is the best action movie of the year and probably the grade.

George Miller goes back to his roots and he doesn't disappointment, after all these years later he's still got it. He filmed all the action scenes with care and effort because most of the action in this movie is practical effects and that right there shows that Miller is going back to old school action and it paid off perfectly. Awesome work George Miller.

The movie itself is mad and I mean freaking insane, The trailers don't lie. These was this one guy in the movie that was playing a electric guitar flamethrower on top of a speed vehicle and all through out the movie was rocking it out, I don't know why but little things like that made the movie so mad that it's enjoyable.

Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky was good, I mean he wasn't as good as Mel Gibson but I still think he did a great job in the movie. Most of the time Max doesn't talk all that, most of he's lines are "huh", but he has a couple of lines in the movie and it sounded epic all the time.

Charlize Theron in this movie is basically the main character of the film and Max is the supporting character and Charlize Theron was like a female version of Max in a way, because her character steels the whole show as her character is a strong female bad-ass that kicks so much ass that it's very rare in action movies today to do that. Now think of all the strong female character's in past action movies, well that's Theron character right here.

The action scenes in this movie I can best describe as incredible and also crazy. The stunt work used during the movie was pretty amazing, they used practical effects in the movie and it looked so good and much better then using computers to make something look incredible but really it looks to computer-ish, and I know they used some CG for scenes where it needed it because it would be too dangerous or impossible to do, but for the most part it's all practical effect's and THIS IS HOW ACTION MOVIES SHOULD BE DONE, THANK YOU MAD MAX FOR DOING THIS, okay I had to get that out there and sorry for shouting... but it's true.

The villain of the movie "Immortan Joe" played by Hugh Keays- Byrne and yes he was in the first Mad Max movie, but here he plays a different villain this time and a menacing one as well. He was like a mix of Dark Vader from Star Wars and Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal (Video Game). He was awesome villain that didn't take sh*t from anyone and always looked like he was going to cause trouble every time he's on screen.

The cinematography in this movie was just beautiful and some of the best looking shoots of the year. I can't believe I'm saying that for a action movie that's been in development for years and it payed off perfectly. This is very rare for this to happen as a lot of movie franchises that have been in the making for years and years would normally come out to late where every body just lost interest and give up waiting, and the movie itself would turn out not so good, but here is much different, that this movie breaks a new ground of coming out late but still being a amazing thrill ride.

The other women in the movie know as the five wives are not just there to look pretty and be saved by any man, no they kicked ass in the movie and they actually did something. The five wives were strong women and this isn't just a mans movie, I mean most of the movie is the women kicking ass and being awesome, they kick more ass then Max ever did. That's why I got to give this movie praise for that.

Now for the problems: I tried to look for things that didn't quite work for the movie and to be honest I couldn't find anything that I thought was not so good. Well there was some slow parts in the movie but the slow parts where the action clams down for now it fills it's time with character development and back story and it worked.

Overall forget Pitch Perfect 2, this is the movie you should see at cinema because as a movie reviewer myself who wants action movies to be more then turn your brain off and enjoy whatever slob mess there is on the screen, no I want a movie experience that I can look at and say "Now that's a action movie done right", and that's Mad Max for you.… Expand

For the longest time, having watched dozens of action movies, I assumed that you can't possibly make a movie made of pure loud action for two hours straight. Mad Max proved me wrong.

It started with a loud bang and that never stopped untilFor the longest time, having watched dozens of action movies, I assumed that you can't possibly make a movie made of pure loud action for two hours straight. Mad Max proved me wrong.

It started with a loud bang and that never stopped until the credits started rolling. The movie instantly throws the build-up part out of the window, jumping straight to the main point of itself - noise, big cars and explosions. And not the Michael Bay type of explosions for the sake of explosions. Every crash, every hit makes sense.

Character start at near to no relationship to each other. And not a single minute of the movie is spent developing them with nothing going on around. All character traits are revealed and developed during all the mayhem, going on around. And when it isn't shoved in your face, you start to appreciate and understand, what is going on, by yourself.

Even though quite a few character die throughout the movie, we realise that it happens during a massive chase and movie makes sure you don't have time to mourn fallen heroes. A swift move of respect is made before refocusing on the task in hand - trying to survive fire, bullets and spears, heading in your direction.

Brilliant movie, which will make you hold your breath for all 2 hours and make you want more.… Expand

Everything about the way that the action is directed is perfect,all the time the main character is in danger and you never know how it will end.There's a guy playing the guitar during all the action,that's just freaking insane.
Tom Hardy does such an amazing job here,he fits on the movie perfectly and Charlize Theron is also very very good on the role.Also there's a certain amount of heart to the characters that makes you love them even more.It's not just brainless action,it makes sense and it's done beautifully.
George Miller is back to show us how to do action in the best way possible.He built this movie in practical effects and I appreciate that even more.Cars flipping and real explosion over the top makes the movie even more insane.
I really can't think of a negative about this movie so I'm definitely going to give it a perfect 5/5 rating and deservedly so.
Go see this movie if you still haven't,I personally can't wait to re-watch it and experience this amazing craziness all over again.… Expand

I can't not give this a 10. Downright the best action film of 2015. Avengers and Spectre can't compete with this. Mr. Miller directs this with a masterclass level of skill. Negative reviews seem to be limited to 2 camps. Dudes that question their sexuality and therefore can't stand to see any woman in an action movie that isn't completely hopeless or those that thought they were seeing a masterpiece theater show and walked into the wrong screening. Was Alien a bad movie because it had a strong female character and flamethrowers? Max is still clearly the biggest badass around and if you need more character development watch the first 3 movies so you know his story.

One of my favorite games is motorstorm which involves various offroad vehicles racing through the Utah desert, there is a lot of this in mad max and a lot of popular culture has taken inspiration from the previous films. I however never saw these and feel they may of not aged well but this film has me wanting MORE! I cannot wait for the video game to come out later this year. we have suffered from the regular action movies through the last few years. but this one finally comes with something that is really fresh & epic.
Very fine acting, Tom hardy once again proves that he is one of the best actors of his generation and really did a badass & tough Max, Charlize Theron shined with Furiosa and put her soul to appreciate this heroine, remember this little kid from the movie " about a boy " who called Nicholas Hoult ! in Fury Road you will see him as you never seen him before when you watch his very insane portrayal of Nux. and that Toecutter who called Hugh Keays-Byrne surely will give you a boner with Immortan Joe because his performance was very terrifying but in a good way.
This movie owes a lot to his bloody incredible stunts, if the academy award made a new category for stunts even for once ! this movie should win it.
the soundtrack & the visuals are awesome and fit the crazy world of the wasteland.
a highly recommended for everyone, especially the fans of the original Mad Max trilogy. I guarantee you won't waste your time
Believe the hype, this movie is not only the best one of this summer. honestly this the best action movie of the decade and establish his position as one of the best action movies ever made. putting his name alongside huge flicks like Terminator 2 & The Matrix.

Forget what you heard, this movie exceeded even my wildest expectations, and I was already ridiculously overhyped for it. Just go t back from seeing Mad Max: Fury Road. This is the best action movie to come out in a long time. Simply amazing. Miller pulled off a minor miracle here. The action was incredible, the acting great, but the design was impeccable. This is a world with a mythology in place, fully realized. I hope he makes the 2 sequels he is hoping for.

If you see this movie, do yourself a favor. Watch it in D-Box while you can. D-Box are those chairs that have vibration and motion in them, allowing you to feel the movie. That, in combination with Real-D 3D, makes this movie a true spectacle to behold. The BEST vehicle oriented action movie to date. Yeah, I'm talking to you Furious Seven! Also, Bane himself as Max and Charlize Theron as Furiosa do an EXCELLENT job. They deserve every award that inevitably comes their way.… Expand

Best action movie of the decade. Maybe the best one of all time. Mad Max Fury Road is an absolute masterpiece. So funny to read some of the negative reviews. People really wanted to go to a serious movie, with a serious plot, containing realism. Are you kidding me? People really wanted to go to a serious movie, with a serious plot, containing realism. Are you kidding me? It's like going to a Tarantino movie and expecting meditations on life or a deeply philosophical movie. It's cinema. It's art. Visual art. That is what "Mad Max: Fury Road" is. Art. Visual art. The characters are not bad for a movie that, at its core, is clearly an action movie. I mean take this movie and compare it with "Furious 7". It's like comparing Hemingway ("MM:FR") with children's books ("F7").

People don't know how to take things just how they are and interpret when necessary, not all the time. Some movies are just here to watch them, shut up, go home and think "oh, that George Miller guy just pulled off one of the greatest action movies ever". Yes, this movie makes the Marvel universe and the Fast & Furious franchise look inept for a lack of a better word.

Really loved the movie. If you like movies, you should go. If you like feel good stories, you shouldn't go.… Expand

No other action film since Matrix can touch this beautifully orchestrated epic. George Miller is on another level entirely. Went to see it twice and the second time was actually more enjoyable!

If fiction requires the suspension of disbelief on the part of the viewer, then it has failed... it is fiction's job to take us there, and this does, making the insane seem perfectly sensible.… Expand

For lovely background of this movie, it describes details about hopeless desert life. There are several factors for making strong focus in movie, the world view, character, music.
Newclear war cause desertification and shorten human's life. In this movie except little of the people have the killing diseases even the boss of the Citadel(the city). For that reason, the short, hopeless lives keep running on the road with fearless. It makes super cool anal sucking action.
The max main character of this movie, has several past's problem with little girl's phantom, but the movie never tells about his life before newclear war. However we just know that phantome makes sick of him, why he doesn't want to tell his name to others. He didn't talk much, but we did understand much. The immotan, the boss of the citadel with warboys have a killing disease, so they want to make pure(without disease) descendant. The super hot chicks are brearer for immotan, for not certain reason, they want to escape from immotan. The furiosa(right?) want to escape Citadel too, so she breaks fence with those chicks, it makes immotan pissed off, that is why those whole crazy races has started.
It was the most fancy thing that the big truck with guitar guy. The guitar guy is the member of the warboys(The immotan's men), he plays guitar when the race begin. That guitar sounds make movie more exciting. The most super cool option, I think.
