The moral of this magnificent motion picture is: the real triumph of a revolution does not consist in escaping towards a fantacised utopia, but in facing and challenging our actual society and making it better.

I absolutely love Tom and Charlize but they become characters as opposed to actors. There was literally only one moment during the film where I was displeased and it was when the steering wheel comes at the screen (clearly a 3D gimmick) and it looked very cheesy. Aside from that 1 second peeve, I can't stop thinking about the film in my head. There are so many parallels to societies that the film becomes somewhat of a social commentary as well. Lastly what ties it all together is the soundtrack. Each scene is accompanied by a track that makes you feel like you are there and made me want to go out and be productive post-film. The OST really captured the immense and powerful vibes emitted by every scene in this sweet ass work of art. Fun, intense, engaging, and outright cool, this movie is definitely worth the exorbitant amount of cash that films cost these days. Expand

Spectacularly gripping from start to finish, the film showers its viewers with moments of awe and insanity, with the ability to bring them back down to earth with emotional and harshly realistic aspects. Whilst Tom Hardy is faultless in his Bane-like performance, Charlize Theron and her band of freedom fighters steal the show. George Miller thoroughly demonstrates his skill as a director, providing a magical yet scarily realistic portrayal of his imagined dystopian future. With the use of stunning practical effects, gripping action sequences, and strong character development, Miller is able to bring his fantasy to screens in an awesome and beautiful way. Expand

Movie of the year so far (as of June) !
The editing style can be weird at time, but it is an artistic choice (and not a way to conceal bad acting or camera work) : a lot of speed up during action scene.
Fortunately or unfortunately, the focus is not enterely on Mad Max, and I would even say the main character is played by Charlize Theron.
Also, most of the movie is race scenes, but the story and characters are still develop through out the film : mostly by the action and reaction from each characters.
The acting is great for every actor, proving the director knows what he is doing. Thumbs up for Tom Hardy for sharing the emotions and reactions with mostly is eyes and facial expressions.
Plus, the sound design and the cinematography are exceptionals : similar to a Sergio Leone production (close-ups to see the face of the actors in-between large shots where it is possible to see all the action on screen, lengthy beautiful sequences, few dialogues, adventure driven story telling, ...).
The world is amazingly large and detailed making something fresh and interesting within a postapocalyptic desert.

Everything this movie TRIES to do is perfect: The character development, the sociology, the action, the insanity, the violence, the redemption and survival dramas, the social critics, the critics to religion fanatism and the feminism, so I can only give it a 10. If you didn't see what I just mentioned in the movie, watch it one more time, but paying closer attention. Come on, you are not a retard, you can think a little bit by yourself.

I don't want to spoil anything, but Fury Road may be one of the best movies I have ever had the pleasure of seeing, ever. Mad Max blazed a war-path across the media, putting all the bland, pandering, paint-by-the-numbers action movies to shame.

I won't spoil it with a lengthy review, but I will say this: the story telling in "Max" is actually superb. Instead of long, boring exposition (characters pouring their hearts out over how/why they want their revenge, blah blah blah, plot device, blah blah) the story is told through the actions of the characters. Film being a visual medium, this is one of the best examples of visual story telling you will ever see.

It may not be a masterpiece, as the hype train might suggest, but it's a genuinely good movie. Mad Max is rich (maybe too much at certain times) in colour and style, thoughtful, well-acted and loaded with great characters who have proper character arcs. Did I mention the bombastic, almost non-stop, but engaging action sequences?
It is in the absolute top range of action movies and the best movie of the 2015 summer season (I watched it more recently though on DVD, after months of avoiding information and opinions regarding it).

PS. It's probably a 9, 9-point-something but I've given it 10 as a faint attempt to pull up its score.

There is no department where this movie is less then superb. Starting with haunting interior, make-up and characters soon on the shoulders of furiosa it enters into a new direction of astonishing graphics, story and deadly action which not only drop your jaw but make you forget to breath. Action sequence are as amazing as never before. Acting from top to bottom is to be praised and from top I mean Theron. Though named as Mad Max, but this is Furiosa's story and movie belongs to Charlize Theron. She gives another Oscar worthy performance. Tom hardy is good in his role and portrays the complication character needs. Nicholas hault is good too. Who really surprised was Rosie Hutington whiteley, she might have given her best to the screen.
In the end the real crown goes to George Miller who brought this unique thrilling adventure to the screen.

Mad Max: Fury Road is the one film I can say is literally perfection in film. In this age/ era of film that we live in we rely so much on our EVER WOWING CGI. When it (CGI) is done so much we don't realize how much we as an just **** love seeing, something that this movie does which is what should happen more often is stick to good stunts and little CGI. Was this film filled with a bit of CGI? Hell yes. but they don't rely on it so much where we have to see it in every **** action sequence. The other thing i will give so much praise for is how much every action (or choice) effects the story in a brilliant way. Yeah you're probably think well a great bunch of movies well almost every movie does that but this, this opus is different. Think of it like this... It is a road runner cartoon. Every choice or action made gives our characters and the story so much more in description. Even if you don't figure our what are the people doing on stilts, or a man who just plays this badass **** guitar and has a whole car/ truck dedicated to that. I mean that is another part of the geniusness of this flick. They don't need to tell you. You just see it and think damn that is just awesome, which it is.

Having never seen a single film in the Mad Max series I was hesitant to watch it: especially considering today’s hyper commercialized, over exposure trend practiced in the marketing of new releases, especially action films. After months of avoiding the film, I finally used this essay prompt as an excuse to see it on New Year’s Day; I was pleasantly surprised. Writing a cinematic review for readers within the world’s leading institution for film studies is daunting for even the best trained. Hopefully this neophyte attempt at sharing my impressions will hold your interest. Here goes!
After a long absence of viewing Miller’s work I was immediately taken by the depth and breath of creativity that could only stream from a pleasantly, twisted mind. (This is meant as a complement!) He brings to life an array of themes visually and emotionally that have turned even this mostly critical and disappointed fan of today’s action films into a Miller fan. He brilliantly blends the exotic with the mundane, the chaotic with the calm, brutality with grace. Within moments I became completely immersed in his vision of the post-apocalyptic world: actually feeling hope emerge as the madness of brutality unfolded. There was not a moment in the film where I felt disconnected from the viewing experience. He drew me completely into the world. Once there, I simply floated away into the story. Miller held my focus one hundred percent of the time. This immersion was accomplished through the brilliance of Miller’s direction, the creativity of his story telling and his interesting use of specific production techniques.
First thing I noticed was the personality of the desert and how its changing mood both enhanced and drove the story forward. Most of the time the desert sands were a vibrant orange, instead of a dull tan or muted brown, off set against a unique sky. Robin egg blue sky, less green, more toward orange on the color spectrum, created a sense of harmony, peace, unity whenever it was matched with the sands. I believe Miller purposefully chose this coloring to create a slightly under-stimulating canvas upon which the viewer’s attention would focus on the intricacies of the action. This particular tone and hue of blue is incredibly peaceful and inviting, bringing a sense of hopefulness, almost cheerfulness, to the experience of the drama, thereby subconsciously reinforcing themes of hope and redemption. This is especially noticeable when Max first encounters the escaped brides as they stand on the sands, clothed in soaking wet free flowing cream linen, silhouetted against this robin egg sky.
Another major mood change in the desert was created with an enormous sand storm. The blue sky was literally rolled over lost when a giant wave of sand. Initially we see the wave as a blend of common desert colors: goat’s cream, turmeric and cow dung. However, as the wave descends over the chase, obscuring the sight of the characters, it transforms into a passionate, dense red that increases the emotional experience of the segment. Red as an overriding color of the segment signifies blood being literary and figuratively spilt.
Perhaps the most definitive mood change was when the desert was completely filtered in blue for a night scene. Blue is often associated with sorrow which is the sadness that the world has. The blue tint is a visual representation of the sorrow of all of the victims and the morning of world who used to be full of life. The first use of the blue tint was when our heroes traveled to the “Green Place”. It was devoid of life when it used to be plentiful. The blue shows how the word morns for the loss of the little life that was still there.
Miller dress certain characters in white to have a play on the concept of purity. The War Boys are covered in white ashes to give themselves a sense of holiness. As a combination of all colors, White is meant to bring a sense of holiness which is ironic considering the war boy’s unholy actions. The brides also are dressed in white to give reinforce the role they play in their society. The irony is taken affect as the color associated with virginity even though they exist solely to make more war boys.
As Well as any other film, the cinematography and the editing are important tools for a filmmaker to visually tell the story. The editing in the beginning is sped-up to reflect the insanity of the title character. In the beginning of the film, Max has lost his ability to reason and acts purely on instinct. The lack of organized thoughts shows he is acting on his animalistic tendencies. The editing eventually slows down as Max regains his sanity after he successfully rescues Furiosa and the brides.
The film uses a wide selection of wide angle close-ups which work to set the mood. It makes the viewer stare at the dark side of the apocalypse right in the face with no chance to escape. The scenes in the dessert rely on after the use of wide shots to show the size and emptiness of the world left after nuclear war.

I love Mad Max, Road Warrior and even Beyond Thunderdome. So when the perpetually delayed Fury Road finally released, you bet your ass I went to see it, and I was rewarded with probably the best damn action movie I've ever seen. It's not just well written, acted or scored, It's simultaneously a testosterone-fueled explosive extravaganza and the ultimate feminist power fantasy. Max is not the main character here. He is, as he always was, a drifter. This movie is about Furiosa, and the wives, taking hold of their destiny by the balls and riding it to flaming victory. I came for the cars and the violence, I'll admit. But I must watch like fifty action movies a year and I honestly forget 49 of them. Fury Road is the one I remember. Expand

Don't know how many times I've watched this movie. I'm happy watching any of it's scenes, any time. In love with the practical effects. Tom Hardy nails it again.

Mad Max: Fury Road is an spectacular action-packed film. Is a demented vehicle for entertainment and enjoyment in favor of new viewers and fans of the original trilogy.
It is true that I have heard comments about people who have not been able to digest it by its frantic march and massive madness and I admit that it is true, the film only stops a little in 3 times, beyond that, the action is endless and it is not a calm action, it is an insane and energetic action.

George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road is a beautifully shot, well-written, and visually stunning piece of art, which kept me captivated throughout its entire run time and will in time be undoubtedly considered a classic.

The fact that most of the stunts were real makes my jaw drop, and the genius color palette is just beautiful to look at. Oh, what a movie! What a lovely movie!!!!!

Best action I've ever seen aside from some of the mission impossible action. They made all the cars in this movie and every scene uses practical effects. It feels real because it mostly is. Goddamn I love this film. Expand

Epic. Best action movie I have ever seen. Monster trucks, death metal, and Tom Hardy. When a director gives us REAL action scenes and REAL trucks, I am always in.

This is the fourth installment in the Mad Max franchise. As we navigate the apocalyptic wastelands of Australia we are guided by Max as he tries to survive by teaming up with a fierce woman named Furiosa. The action starts immediately and doesn’t let up. The film paces itself perfectly you never feel a scene is dragged out. With a complimenting score that combines classical orchestra with synth wave music adding to the action and intensity of each scene. The impressive stunts will leave you speechless as stunt men vault from vehicles during a high-speed pursuit. The costume design is noteworthy, as each actor is transformed into an apocalyptic survivor that is almost unrecognizable. Combined with marvelous acting by Tom Hardy (Max), Charlize Theron (Furiosa), and Nicholas Hoult (Nux) gives the movie Mad Max Fury Road is not just the best film in the franchise but one of the best action movies to date. This movies **** baller, im sure you can find some poetic meaning in here. Like a princesses love for a dying sickly cancer written teenage child. Or that Max's only instinct "survive" is succumbed to love. The action though. The action is where this movie is a feat. Its artistically a masterpiece. The staging of the action is thought out. The pacing. The suspense. The love devices make you care enough. The Survive device makes you feel cool enough. The action device makes you feel alive. Must watch. I am a fan of art. And this is simply not just cars exploding and max grunting. Its art. Which mostly involves said two former's. But beautifully and thoughtfully crafted for our enjoyment. Nothing more than that. It wants us to enjoy it. And all pieces of the film fit together to match only that belief. Does the audience enjoy it. Isnt that the point of a film? Expand
