Absolutely loved the movie!! This is the first movie where I felt that The Rock was playing a character and not himself. You can see the hard work that's put in. I hope this is the start of something new for the DCEU.

Just saw it today on my way home from work and it was amazing. There's no garbage woke political agenda crap on it that's why critics give it a bad review, for me the movie was fun, full of action pack from beginning to end.

The action scenes are great and the actors are really good too, and the Rock comes through but it still doesn't save the movie. The SFX are very well done and help make the mediocre writing more believable.

Unfortunately, this seems like another thoughtless creation to come out of the Emmerich, Hamada, Johns camp. I really hope the new management learns from their mistakes. This movie had amazing potential and phenomenal talent, too bad they couldn't get a better script.… Expand

Wow! So much better than I thought it would be! I loved all the characters and the character development. What has potential to be a crowd pleaser was more like a snoozer. There were times I thought Duane Johnson was going to turn to the camera, arch an eyebrow and say, “Are you smelling what The Rock is cooking?! “ I didn’t know anythingWhat has potential to be a crowd pleaser was more like a snoozer. There were times I thought Duane Johnson was going to turn to the camera, arch an eyebrow and say, “Are you smelling what The Rock is cooking?! “ I didn’t know anything about the comic book character ‘Black Adam ‘ before seeing this movie. The movie does a great job explaining his back story: a slave who sees his family executed due to his son defying the emperor. When the emperor tries to execute the son the gods decide to not allow it and saves him. They empower the son to be a champion of the people. The slave also becomes empowered (not going to put a spoiler in here to explain how that happens) yet the gods conclude his abuse of those powers cannot be tolerated so they place him in tomb like prison for eternity. Switching to current times the city is still occupied with the people being abused. There is a race on to recover the emperor’s crown made from a rare earth mineral (an obvious rip off from ‘Black Panther ‘). There are two factors going after the crown: those who want to hide it so it cannot be used for evil and those who want to use that power. It is this retrieving of the crown that leads to ‘Black Adam’ being freed from his prison. He wasted no time killing as many as possible who were trying to recover the crown for evil purposes but not the people trying to recover the crown to hide it. Basically anyone who aimed a weapon at him. Once you open your movie with this amount of violence how can you top it and keep your audience entertained? The answer is this movie can’t. Every thing after this is basically a rehash of the first 25 minutes. The grade B DC characters sent to ‘arrest’ him are ridiculous: ‘Black Adam’ has these powers and you send THESE three?! Superman wasn’t available (maybe in a sequel)? The ending was worse… I won’t spoil it here other than to say stretching it out as long as possible was awful. By this time I was hoping that ‘Black Adam’ would decimate the city and save us all in the audience.… Expand

Its a dumb film with tons of flaws including one worst villains ive ever seen, but its got some charm, Rock and a few other charecters were alright and fight scenes were pretty cool, so for a fun dumb action movie its quite good.

I don't really know what the critics are on about. To be fair it isen't the best movie ever made, its not close to the brilliance of the likes of "The godfather", but it doesen't have to be.

This simply demonstrates once again, just how much most critics are out of touch with what audiences are actually looking for in a movie. I’m so happy to see that the audience score of 89% (at time of writing), mirrors the experience that I had at the cinema. My family and I are just back from an IMAX screening of Black Adam and our scores are 7/10 wife, 7/10 son, 9/10 daughter and 9/10 me. How biased are the majority of critics nowadays and what’s their actual motivation for scores as low as zero? Are they reviewing a form of media ENTERTAINMENT or trying to project their political agendas onto the masses?
Anyway, back to the movie… Awesome cinematography, incredible action sequences, fantastic performances by all, a tremendous score, spellbinding visual effects and a SUPER mid credits scene. Thank you Dwayne Johnson, Warner Bros.Discovery, New Line Cinema and Seven Bucks Productions for a great, FUN time at the movies. Yes, FUN time at the movies, something the majority of critics seem to have forgotten about.
It’s a solid 9/10 IMO, so please ignore the critics and go see Black Adam on the biggest, loudest screen possible… you won’t regret it.… Expand

I went to see a cool destructive movie in which The Rock kicks the absolute living s***t out of everyone, and that's exactly what I got. Couldn't be happier.

There was a bit of too much fluff at the very end, can be cut in future releases.

Black Adam is not without its flaws, but i still enjoy the hell out of it, the problem that i have with Black Adam is that i never really buy all the Kahndaq people 100%, in the end i only still buy half of it, but i still fine with it, it's not like their characters are terrible, it just most of the time they are doing just a poor performance except the actress who played the mom and probably Ishmael for the most part, at least i still got some of the laughs from one of them, some of the slower scene was sometimes misplaced including some of the flashback, and some nit picky here and there, the rest of Black Adam is an exciting comic book film that fills with a very impressive battle that also fills with dazzling visual and cool style, Black Adam himself played incredibly well by Dwayne Johnson, he was just unstoppable in the most badass way, Justice Society has just become one of my favorite superhero team specifically in movies, they are fun and they are great, Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher all of them are a hit for me, i love every single one of them, though i do wish they have something more with Doctor Fate because i think Pierce Brosnan was just unbelievably good playing the characters, again at least we do still have that one moment, i would love to see Justice Society again in movie maybe even their own movie, i would also love to have a specifically Doctor Fate standalone or a prequel film, and last but not least, the main villain, i think the main villain is doing as fine as most of the hero in the movie, so overall Black Adam is a quite a fun ride, 2 hours did feel quite goes by, an exciting back and forth battle that fills with dazzling visual effect and style, great score, great sound, great performances for most of the cast, being the first original DCEU movie that release in theaters only since WW84, Black Adam is not perfect but it's still great, it's still fun, it's still fascinating, it's still exciting, and i enjoy the hell out of it.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. watched the first show available at suncoast casino in Durban. I absolutely loved it. Johnson delivers on your promise of huge Changeup within the DCEU.
Firstly I must admit I'm not fan of anybody in the Rocks family. They are all overpriviledged and awarded everything they have without working half as hard as their peers. Dwayne however has learned skills, upped his game and tough I'm no fan I am often impressed and entertained by his work.
This movie is such an occasion.
The characters aren't developed in a traditional fashion, rather there is a lot of flashback work. There isn't much in the way of groundbreaking narrative. There's very little familiarity with the rest of the DCEU. But it's still freaking awesome. The action is a mile a second, Johnson is probably the most charismatic DCEU til date, the CGI is mind-blowing.
Though the story feels like it's got elements that have been done before it still holds your attention for every second of the movie.
The performances are excellent. Firstly Aldis Hodges Hawkman is annoying as hell. But in many ways the character is meant to be. Hodge plays it will suave matching Johnson in alpha male stakes.
The 2 younger members of the team are good but don't have much scope to shine.
Dwayne Johnson nails Black Adam and makes the character his own in a way few DCEU leads could ever hope to.
Then to our legendary Thesbian Pearce Brosnan, he is perfect in every frame that he's in. His Dr Fate character almost steals the show from Johnson in a movie titled Black Adam. It just reminds you of Gandalf from Lord of the rings. He's imperious and hilarious at the same time. There's times when he observes the rival between Teth Adam and Kufor, in those moments he just looks like an amused father watching his 2 should brats at play. His final sequence in the movie is both impressive and heart wrenching simultaneously.

Henry Cavills appearance mid credits as Sups is a wow moment and he looks comic book accurate. This is exciting especially after we've learned Affleck will make a similar appearance in Aquaman 2.
Maybe Snyder's vision isn't dead after all.

The movie is a must watch if you're a DCEU fan. This is universe building at it's best.… Expand

I’ve even read a few were I’m not sure if they actually saw the movie. It’s a great COMIC movie. Probably one of the best that WB and DC have made. If you go in expecting anything more, you’ll likely be disappointed. There is so much here that was fresh. I like a lot of the action sequences, but I loved that they put both feet completely in the antihero aspect. Black Adam doesn’t care if he hurts or kills anyone and I believed The Rock in that role. Now, a lot of the plot was easy to see coming, but there were a few twist that I didn’t see coming. Like a lot of these movies there are annoying third act issues. As the plot progresses you can tell that it’s not ending so the decision to immediately undo what they just accomplished is frustrating. Most of the acting is fine, but there are some strange choices from the “people” of the region and the kid. I think this is more of a director issue possibly not know what they wanted at the time of filming or maybe were the movie was going. All of this said, if you liked Aquaman I think that you will enjoy this.… Expand

Questo film non è niente di rivoluzionario, anzi; è un polpettone di roba già vista, riprende l'estetica di Snyder senza passare dal via e certa sua narrazione e serve semplicemente a fare da raccordo tra il "vecchio" DCEU e il nuovo, aQuesto film non è niente di rivoluzionario, anzi; è un polpettone di roba già vista, riprende l'estetica di Snyder senza passare dal via e certa sua narrazione e serve semplicemente a fare da raccordo tra il "vecchio" DCEU e il nuovo, a inserire Black Adam e la JSA, che probabilmente verrà approfondita in altri progetti (se il film incassa bene).
La scrittura a tratti è ridicola, i ralenty sono talvolta imbarazzanti, The Rock sembra un pezzo di Tofu che si muove in giro, il villain ha la profondità di una foglio di carta, la JSA non alcun approfondimento e sbuca dal niente, la continuity narrativa non esiste.
Ma gli effetti visivi non sono malvagi, Black Adam ha una messa in scena tutto sommato dignitosa e spacca tutto con una certa grazia e Pierce Brosnan porta a casa la pagnotta.
Il punto è che nonostante i molti difetti del film, questo Black Adam non risulta assolutamente peggiore di tanta merda che ci è stata offerta durante la fase 4 della Disney (MCU); eppure, spazzatura tipo Eternals, il ben diretto ma idiota Doctor Strange 2, il bruttissimo Black widow e il vuoto Shang Chi sono stati recensiti meglio.
E allora basta, butto qui un 10 per sbarellare la media e fine.… Expand

The funny thing is that they must know that Dwayne Johnson hates them and everyone like them. But I'm sure he's grateful for the support. More money in his pocket. Getting to the movie, it's not as bad as advertised and DJ is eminently likeable whatever part he plays. The script and direction are a mess, but the actors, particularly Brosnan, more than make up for it. It's worth a watch.… Expand

There is a major problem when the best part of your movie is the post-credits scene and only because another and more famous superhero appears in it.

Dwayne Johnson wanted Black Adam to be many things and with that intention the filmThere is a major problem when the best part of your movie is the post-credits scene and only because another and more famous superhero appears in it.

Dwayne Johnson wanted Black Adam to be many things and with that intention the film pretends too much while delivering mediocre results that also exposes what a crappy actor he is.

It remains to be seen what they will do with The Flash to get another idea about the franchise, but DC and Warner have shown once again that they don't have a damn plan regarding what they want to do with their cinematic universe. And that's because, film after film, there's simply nothing that can bring it to life.

As usual critics are slamming DC because it’s not washed out marvel. this movie has its ups and downs but the ups pack a punch ! from black Adam killing people with his power to him ripping the big bad in half like it’s mortal kombat this movie brings some darkness we needed in todays pg movies. But what makes it even better is the mid credit scene ! Our Superman returns ! let’s hope that with the Rocks power and him listening to the fans we might get Zack Snyder back in action and revive DC… Expand

The beginning was fine except for there being a kid narrator. and then the movie suffers from anything that goes with a badly written child character. The action which there was plenty of was fun but not greatly choreographed. Smasher and Cyclones action was lackluster like they didn't know how to use them. Smasher himself only punched 2 times in the whole movie and was comedic relief the rest of the time. Cyclone for someone as smart as she is supposed to be, its clear the writers used her powers like a child would of. anime characters have used wind powers with far more imagination. Hawkman and Dr.Fate were great, both the characters and actors. sadly the writers depowered Dr.Fate as he alone is a match for Adam in the comics, and Hawkmans mace was not hitting anywhere near its power in the comics. Black Adam was a hero, not an anti hero and def not a bad guy in any shape or form in this movie. His very Dark Origin from the comics is compleatly turned around to give him a more loving twist. Instead of wanting all of the power he shares with his son and killing him to gain it as in the comics, his son just gives it to him to save his father and then the boy dies from arrows and Adam goes into grief riddled revenge. the final bad guy is a travasty, who is he, why do i care, idk, forgotten like the wind. the movie is not that great.… Expand

Excellent action movie, explosions, muscles, The Rock, nothing like a sexy man to delight the pupil, this is entertainment and for men a lot of testosterone throughout the film, I had a great time with this movie, I recommend it.

Black Adam is an overstuffed movie that never finds its rhythm and feels awkward more than it feels exciting and fun. I liked the overall story when you look at it from afar, but when you dig into the details, that's where the movie misses its mark. The worst part from Black Adam is the dialogue, there's too many moments where you cringe and want to stuff your head in a pillow. It never found an identity or flow within the story, it tried to be too much in a 2 hour span. The writers could have taken a different approach with the political messaging and write about what's happening in the Middle East today, but decided to write a generic "we are oppressed by foreign invaders" story and never dove into it. I liked the major plot points that the story got to in each act, but again when looking into the details of how we got there thats where the story isn't as ironed out as it should be. The action is fun and looks great, but honestly you will enjoy this movie just as much by watching the action scenes on Youtube once it's released. Another high end DC movie and yet again they are still struggling to find their identity in the superhero genre.… Expand

Also the Justice Society castings were great, although we did not get much to know about their backstories. Their past and their development may be one of the few things that was missing in the plot. But fortunately it did not disturb anything about the backstory and the development of Black Adam himself. Unlike the other DC movies, the darkness was adjusted better this time. Also the very little piece of comedy has found a place in the Movie. The surprise in the post credit scene was just awesome and hope giving for the next projects of DC. Im not sure what you may be looking for in a superhero movie, but there is well done action and CGI, quite a bit of excitement, and the characters are good. This was obviously a labor of love to bring these characters to life.
