One of my friends told me, that is 5/10, so I went to the cinema without much hopes but, heck. My friend was wrong, the film is full of action, funny, a bit brutal and not too long (in UK 125 min). It's going to make money, and they'll make a sequel because of it. But it doesn't deserve it. Anyone with half a brain cell can recognize a carbon copy studio conjured product when they see one. Just a Thor Marvel ripoff, but much worse.

It's not a great movie...the script is weak, dialogue is atrocious, villian is weak, some characters feel annoying and pointless. I lament a time in the not so but increasingly distant past when adjectives such as "decent" or even the generic "ok" meant the film was slightly mediocre and was probably not worth the time. In the era we live in, it might as translate to a Best Picture Oscar contender. It was better than some of the drivel in the inconsistent mess that is DC extended universe, but that's not saying very much. I can be pleasantly surprised by the Rock NOT dragging down the film with his acting. There are many ways in which the direction, writing, editing and even casting could have been improved, but 'Black Adam' kept me fairly engaged for two hours, and that's all I can ask for films nowadays.… Expand

A tangled, weird, generic **** show, the rock is really terrible in this and shows even less range than usual. Its 80% action and features hundreds of slow-motion shots. TLDR: Black Adam is the latest film in the DCEU franchise starring Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge and Pierce Brosnan. Black Adam isnt bad, but it isnt amazing.

The acting is passable in this film. I don’t mean that negatively towards any of theTLDR: Black Adam is the latest film in the DCEU franchise starring Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge and Pierce Brosnan. Black Adam isnt bad, but it isnt amazing.

The acting is passable in this film. I don’t mean that negatively towards any of the performances. I feel everyone was doing the best they could with the script they were given. My only small complaint is Dwayne Johnson plays himself like he does in everyone of his movies. This has a certain charm, but it would have been nice to see Black Adam sound and feel a bit different to Dwayne Johnson. The script is my biggest problem with the movie. It needed more time in the writing room. A lot of themes are half baked which is a shame. For instance, there are hints at a deeper friendship between Dr Fate and Hawkman but this is never really developed. Furthermore, Black Adam is supposed to be an antihero. This could have created a really interesting dynamic but it stopped short. I never felt any sense of the character being anything but a hero. He only killed people trying to kill him and they were obviously already bad. An opportunity was missed here.

The movie suffers from an overreliance on CGI like most modern superhero movies. What is worse, there were a few times in the film where the CGI was noticeably bad. If you are going to rely on CGI, then you need to ensure it is not obvious. To sum up…it is tolerable. It wont win any Oscars or Razzies and I don’t feel like a wasted my money on buying a ticket…especially with the after credits cameo. But, I was more excited during the cameo than I was in the whole film. I only hope a sequel would take full advantage of the character of Black Adam as this movie certainly has not.… Expand

After so many flops from DC and muddled messes of movies that missed the tone entirely DC finally seem to be putting out some good content, between the last suicide squad movie the peacemaker series and now this I'm seeing some hopeful lightAfter so many flops from DC and muddled messes of movies that missed the tone entirely DC finally seem to be putting out some good content, between the last suicide squad movie the peacemaker series and now this I'm seeing some hopeful light ahead for them, brutally honest I was tired of snyders attempt to turn the DC universe into a 300 sucker punch mashup with the same tones and writing that truly was not fitting of the characters at all, jesse eisenberg springs to mind instantly when it comes to casting, his lex luthor being closer to the riddler was enough to make me shake my head and let us not remind ourselves of the Martha fiasco and the use of an actual bathroom sink in their fight, but this I've been waiting to see dwayne johnson play black adam since the late 90s when I didn't even know his real name and he was perfect in the role, DC have finally got it and hopefully this is a fresh new start for them!… Expand

A pesar de ser una película de presentación de un héroe (o antihéroe) y a pesar de que cuenta prácticamente lo mismo de siempre, Black Adam es, muy diferente (aparentemente), del resto de películas basadas en cómics.
Es correcta, no sorprendeA pesar de ser una película de presentación de un héroe (o antihéroe) y a pesar de que cuenta prácticamente lo mismo de siempre, Black Adam es, muy diferente (aparentemente), del resto de películas basadas en cómics.
Es correcta, no sorprende demasiado (cosa que le perjudica), y tiene algún agujero/contradicción en el guion que hubiese molado mucho más si incidiera (como el mensaje en el que se centra en toda la peli).
Para mi gusto, le faltan más momentos de esos que recuerdas dentro de un tiempo, creo que a excepción de uno con el Dr. Fate poco más me voy a acordar de esta película.

· Cosas buenas: se diferencia de otras (a pesar de contar lo mismo que otras), tiene alguna secuencia de pelea que es fantástica y súper frenética. El reparto es maravilloso, aunque quizás algo desaprovechado, Dr. Fate me encantó. No se me hizo larga, la reflexión es interesante pero me habría gustado que incidiera más en "qué es ser un héroe", la música me pareció bastante chula y, cómo no, la ESCENA post-créditos, wow.
· Cosas malas: The Rock, lo siento pero nunca me gustó y dudo que me guste Dwayne Johnson, no lo trago ni le acabo de pillar el humor (por mucho que suba la ceja), demasiados efectos visuales en algunos momentos, la cámara lenta a lo Snyder me pone de los nervios. El montaje, con algunos errores y demasiado abuso del etalonaje (ya nos hemos enterado de que estamos en África, gracias), muchos clichés, poco guion (le falta incidir más en algunos personajes que podrían haber molado), el villano es horrible, y puede que tanta acción se te haga repetitiva.
· Conclusión: cuando salí del cine, salí contento, pensando en que me había gustado, cosa que es cierto, pero con una sensación extraña que consistía en una mezcla de pensamientos entre si la película está sobrecargada o subdesarrollada, y he llegado a la conclusión de que ambas, le sobran algunas partes, y faltan algunas partes, para mí, no se acabó de encontrar del todo.… Expand

The Rock followed through on his promise and gave fans what they want - tons and tons of action! Loved the movie, can't wait to see the DCEU revolve around Black Adam as the most powerful entity on par with Supes and Shazam. As for the movie, I thought Dr.Fate and the kid with the skateboard (Amon) really stole the show. The Rock was made for this role and can't wait to see him in other films. His role as Black Adam is on par with Robert Downey Jr/Iron Man that set the table for stage 1. While RD Jr. is a better actor, the Rock is way more of a bad man and oozes way more style and cool factor. This is DC's Phase 1 and super excited to see how it turns out! Hey Marvel, this is your cue to catch up and put out better movies please!… Expand

Ya pude ver la película y que puedo decir, iba con expectativas bajas es una película de The rock Johnson y es de superhéroes no le puedo pedir mucho, pero Dios de verdad me sorprendió, no es una revolución ni es la mejor película de superhéroes pero cumplió por completo con lo que ella prometió es una película muy activa, buenos efectos, escuché que abusa de las escenas en cámara lenta y en lo personal adore la primera pelea en cámara lenta y la última cunado este ya no cuenta con sus poderes, personajes carismáticos y mucha comedia también, no todos los chistes conectaro y la mujer y Niño no me terminaron de encantar, pero doctor destino y el hombre Halcón son de lo mejor de la película. I am a fan of The Rock. He is funny and off-the-wall in a lot of his movies, which makes his over-the-top characters endearing. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I came to this movie with low expectation, most movie now are just about 'The message' and are not fun. I came because I knew about the Superman reveal and I wanted to support that move. What I got was a great action movie and one of the best super hero movies in the last 3 years. The story is not complicated nor complex, but is one of the most action packed story I ever saw and it really worked for me. The background story for Black Adam is in my opinion great, it is presented in small steps each one adding to the previous. Is in the end a simple story, but it works. There is no real background story for the League of Justice, but there was no time for it. I loved Dr Fate and Pierce Brosnan deliver a great role. Also for people that complain this is a Dr Strange rip-off, Dr Fate appear in the 1940's, Dr Strange appear in 1967 so not really. NOTE. I would love a Dr Fate movie or at least a series. I loved that Black Adam is so brutal. For a guy that lived 5000 years ago, in a savege world , that saw his child and wife murdered, and just wake up, there is no way for him to have 2020 moral standards.… Expand

Meh. Its good enough for a basic superhero movie but its not mind blowing. I'm not a fan of the Rock as an actor- he just always seems like a miscast wrestler to me in everything he's in, but at least this fits his body type.

Really good movie. Story a little thin, but action was great, jokes mostly hit, the JSA all hit. I was worried about smasher and cyclone, but they worked just as well as Hawkman and Fate.

I think this movie is literally average movie, nothing more than this. If some battle scene gives you satisfaction, the other one can't give this feeling. The action is excellent, but the writing is pretty bad. When watching a DJ movie, you have to go into it with certain expectations and Black Adam is no exception. Black Adam was one of my highly anticipated movies of the year for me and it delivered on some aspects while others did not.

One thing I will say about this movie was that it was entertaining, The Action was really awesome and sort ofBlack Adam was one of my highly anticipated movies of the year for me and it delivered on some aspects while others did not.

One thing I will say about this movie was that it was entertaining, The Action was really awesome and sort of reminded me of Man of Steel's action set pieces that felt big, spectacular, and visually striking. The action scenes were really the best part of this movie and every time Black Adam was in an action scene it felt exciting and not just the Black Adam action scenes but characters like Doctor Fate, Hawkman, Cyclone and Atom Smasher all had good action scenes.

Big credit to Jaume Collet-Serra, the man knows how to direct stellar action scenes and not just the action the visuals and CGI in this movie were just beautiful and some even jaw-dropping. The visuals involving Doctor Fate especially were great along with Cyclone too. This movie was clearly one of the most visually impressive Superhero movies I've ever watched including the action.

The characters overall were decent, I was really looking forward to Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate and he was the best character for me. Pierce Brosnan gave a really good performance and every time Doctor Fate was on screen it Felt special, and his chemistry with Hawkman (Hawkman was a decent character as well and his action scenes vs Black Adam were some of the best parts of the movie,Aldis Hodge gives a good performance too) was nice also scenes between Cyclone and Atom Smasher were charming.

Now for Black Adam himself, The Rock has the perfect look for Black Adam I think he was the perfect casting and in this movie he does give a good performance, he's intense, funny at times and sympathetic but my Number one issue with this movie is that it's NOT A BLACK ADAM STORY. As someone who reads comics, it's kinda disappointing to see this version of Black Adam, They go more with the heroic route not exactly the FULL Anti Hero route either when in the comics he starts off as a pure villain then works his way to being more of an Anti-Hero whereas in this he starts off as an Anti-Hero and ends up in this weird mix between Hero/Anti-Hero they fully don't commit to either which is jarring for the story and kind of won’t make sense if he were to go up against Shazam or Superman in the future with the story they told.

Also, some moments felt like I was watching a Marvel movie(not the good kind), like some of the humor felt corny and awkward and honestly, Superhero movies/Hollywood movies kinda need to stir away from MCU awkward/forced humor and come up with something unique. I mean it dealt with humor well for the most part and better than recent Marvel movies to be honest just some scenes felt corny and awkward, especially for a DC movie. Also the villain was generic and shoehorned in the last act of the movie too but the action scenes between the main villain and JSA/Black Adam were good.

Another point is characters like Amon and Adrianna Tomaz who were connecting to Black Adam were decent but turned into annoying characters at times especially the Kid who had a fanboy relationship with Black Adam was annoying similar to Ironman 3 with some scenes between The Kid and Black Adam being the worst scenes in the movie. The tone of Black Adam was balanced mostly well between serious moments and comedic scenes despite the awkward humor and corniness in some scenes as I mentioned and the pacing was really well done too between the story and action.

So overall despite my complaints about the average to the sometimes mediocre story, awkward humor and some corny scenes I was mostly entertained with this movie the action was honestly great to epic at times. The visuals and CGI were great and stunning at times. Characters like Doctor Fate, Hawkman, Karim(who was the comic relief) who was funny and the Rock as Black Adam who does a good job portraying Black Adam and pulls off the look of comic Black Adam, and his action scenes were amazing despite not really being a comic accurate Black Adam story and ends up being this weird mix between Hero/Ant-Hero. I HAD FUN though which is the most important part and for the first time in a long time I have hope for the future of the DCEU and finally, the post-credit scene alone is a 10/10!!… Expand

More of a rant against the superhero movies than a review.

I really hope for the sake of humanity that one day, once this whole superhero frenzy dies down, the film historians will look back at this time period (starting with the 2001 X-Men to whenever it ends) as an embarrassment and a low point in movie history. The common defenses for the superhero movies are "it's escapism", "they aren't meant to be serious", even though some of them take themselves far too seriously to the point of unintentional comedy (TDK trilogy, BvS, The Batman) and of course "if you don't like it, don't watch it".
Infantilization of cinema and keeping the adult children in a perpetual state of arrested development, validating their childhood obsessions and flattering their egos, studios know who their audience is and they don't respect you, not one bit. WB/DC has the dark and gritty™ so the viewers can say: "maybe I'm not wasting my time watching people in silly costumes fighting each other, look the movie is so dark and serious, it's a crime drama.", and to them that automatically makes it good.
Marvel movies are more light hearted which doesn't make them neither better nor worse, but there is a line for how much jokes and gags you can take before you start rolling your eyes.
Black Adam is one more nail in the cinematic coffin of Hollywood, too bad it won't be the final.

"I can't wait for the 16th reboot of Batman and Avengers 37!!!" - average moviegoer, probably.… Expand

While I so appreciate The Rock giving it his all, the film was messy, convoluted and just an overall copy of everything Marvel has already done without bringing anything new to the table. Went watching it last night, I am 50 so dont read many comics so dont know how accurate it is, But I really enjoyed it the effects were some of the best that a DC film has had. This felt like a bad SyFy channel movie. Awful with all the slow-mo and cheesy dialogue. Did some kid write this at recess? The Rock just needs to go away. Stick with family movies. What a dumpster fire.

A simple distraction from reality and a fun time. It is fair to say this film wont win any Oscar’s or generate cerebral thinking, but if you want a fun time and enjoy over the top action that doesn’t take its self too serious then I would advice giving this a watch.
