I don't really know what the critics are on about. To be fair it isen't the best movie ever made, its not close to the brilliance of the likes of "The godfather", but it doesen't have to be.

The rock is great as Adam, the supporting cast is great, especially Pierce Brosnan as Dr.Fate.
Great music and great VFX.

Im not sure what you may be looking for in a superhero movie, but there is well done action and CGI, quite a bit of excitement, and the characters are good. This was obviously a labor of love to bring these characters to life.

As usual critics are slamming DC because it’s not washed out marvel. this movie has its ups and downs but the ups pack a punch ! from black Adam killing people with his power to him ripping the big bad in half like it’s mortal kombat this movie brings some darkness we needed in todays pg movies. But what makes it even better is the mid credit scene ! Our Superman returns ! let’s hope that with the Rocks power and him listening to the fans we might get Zack Snyder back in action and revive DC… Expand

DC are back thank to The Rock
Finally a movie gives the feeling that DC are making great movies again. First of all, it may not be comic accurate at all but Dwayne Johnson is the perfect casting for Black Adam. Also the Justice SocietyDC are back thank to The Rock
Finally a movie gives the feeling that DC are making great movies again. First of all, it may not be comic accurate at all but Dwayne Johnson is the perfect casting for Black Adam. Also the Justice Society castings were great, although we did not get much to know about their backstories. Their past and their development may be one of the few things that was missing in the plot. But fortunately it did not disturb anything about the backstory and the development of Black Adam himself. Unlike the other DC movies, the darkness was adjusted better this time. Also the very little piece of comedy has found a place in the Movie. The surprise in the post credit scene was just awesome and hope giving for the next projects of DC. The film is recommended.… Expand

Another low IQ movie for the masses. Look the rock plays the rock in everything. He has one style and thats it. Poor Pierce he does try but the writing is on par with rings of power. Go get you a book instead.

This was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It was like a second grader wrote it. It's only saving grace was Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. While did have fun watching it. Honestly, the thing I was wanting to see the most in this movie, that being Kahndaq, has been terribly told and the film focus's more on the justice society, which when seeing Dr. Fate, made me not excited toWhile did have fun watching it. Honestly, the thing I was wanting to see the most in this movie, that being Kahndaq, has been terribly told and the film focus's more on the justice society, which when seeing Dr. Fate, made me not excited to see them. But even though Dr. Fate is the worst character overall, I don't think he is the worst character in the film. That Honor goes to Hawk man. Now I can tell that the actor is trying his best with the character, but with the script that he was given is the main reason why his character sucks, Like for example, He said that "Heroes don't kill people", But like Superman killed Zod at the end of Man of Steel and Wonder Woman killed Ares at the end of Wonder Woman 2017. So I don't get why Black Adam cant kill when even fricken Batman has killed people before. And he is just there to get his @$$ killed throughout the entire film. I think Atom Smasher is completely forgettable even though he is the best of the crew, Hurricane was also forgettable, Dr. fate was cool in some scenes or like his character from the Comics or Injustice 2 which are my least favorite versions of him. Sabbac is also a Terrible Villain. And I Found the final battle pretty underwhelming, Finally I Think the music should most definitely be used less. With that said, I don't hate this film, I think the Dwayne Johnson does a great job as the villain version of Black Adam (even though he is being set up more as a hero rather than a villain.) The action outside of the Final battle is pretty fun, And Black Adams Introduction was Fantastic. So while not a good film in my eyes. But I would rather you watch this than Halloween Ends.

I am absolutely shocked. The number of positive views simply astound me - there are obviously a great number of people who like messed up, spliced together and pretty random bright coloured CGI sequences.

Black Adam is sprinkled with good moments but the moments in between are a chore that said good moments only offer a perfunctory sigh instead of an exciting time. The dialogue is lifeless and the plot is even worse.

Dwayne Johnson and Pierce Brosnan shine as Black Adam and Dr Fate respectively, it's such a shame that Dr Fate was underplayed. I still don't get why Dr Fate was played down so much, it's such an audacious decision that makes absolutely no sense.

To sum it all, Black Adam can be entertaining if you can look past its horrible plot and dialogues, poor villain and generally paper-thin characters.… Expand

Many serious moments of his are often undercut by cringey attempts at humor. Although this is a regular occurrence in super-hero films (and much maligned, by the way), it feels entirely out of character and unnecessary for the Black Adam they are presenting to us. His conflict with the heroes of the Justice Society was intended to further reinforce his anti-hero persona, but they instead come across as the aggressors while also being completely oblivious to the actual villains in front of them. The Rock is good for this role, but the script failed him. On the positive side, the enjoyable performances of the supporting characters help to stabilize this film, and the action is very entertaining.… Expand

Incredibly entertaining superhero movie. Brosnan’s Fate is hilarious (in the good sense), and Dwaine Johnson was born to be Black Adam. Spot on casting. I’m so happy to see that the audience score of 89% (at time of writing), mirrors the experience that I had at the cinema. My family and I are just back from an IMAX screening of Black Adam and our scores are 7/10 wife, 7/10 son, 9/10 daughter and 9/10 me. How biased are the majority of critics nowadays and what’s their actual motivation for scores as low as zero? Are they reviewing a form of media ENTERTAINMENT or trying to project their political agendas onto the masses?
Anyway, back to the movie… Awesome cinematography, incredible action sequences, fantastic performances by all, a tremendous score, spellbinding visual effects and a SUPER mid credits scene. Thank you Dwayne Johnson, Warner Bros.Discovery, New Line Cinema and Seven Bucks Productions for a great, FUN time at the movies. Yes, FUN time at the movies, something the majority of critics seem to have forgotten about.
It’s a solid 9/10 IMO, so please ignore the critics and go see Black Adam on the biggest, loudest screen possible… you won’t regret it.… Expand

Black Adam is not without its flaws, but i still enjoy the hell out of it, the problem that i have with Black Adam is that i never really buy all the Kahndaq people 100%, in the end i only still buy half of it, but i still fine with it, it's not like their characters are terrible, it just most of the time they are doing just a poor performance except the actress who played the mom and probably Ishmael for the most part, at least i still got some of the laughs from one of them, some of the slower scene was sometimes misplaced including some of the flashback, and some nit picky here and there, the rest of Black Adam is an exciting comic book film that fills with a very impressive battle that also fills with dazzling visual and cool style, Black Adam himself played incredibly well by Dwayne Johnson, he was just unstoppable in the most badass way, Justice Society has just become one of my favorite superhero team specifically in movies, they are fun and they are great, Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher all of them are a hit for me, i love every single one of them, though i do wish they have something more with Doctor Fate because i think Pierce Brosnan was just unbelievably good playing the characters, again at least we do still have that one moment, i would love to see Justice Society again in movie maybe even their own movie, i would also love to have a specifically Doctor Fate standalone or a prequel film, and last but not least, the main villain, i think the main villain is doing as fine as most of the hero in the movie, so overall Black Adam is a quite a fun ride, 2 hours did feel quite goes by, an exciting back and forth battle that fills with dazzling visual effect and style, great score, great sound, great performances for most of the cast, being the first original DCEU movie that release in theaters only since WW84, Black Adam is not perfect but it's still great, it's still fun, it's still fascinating, it's still exciting, and i enjoy the hell out of it.… Expand

Black Adam was one of my highly anticipated movies of the year for me and it delivered on some aspects while others did not.

One thing I will say about this movie was that it was entertaining, The Action was really awesome and sort ofBlack Adam was one of my highly anticipated movies of the year for me and it delivered on some aspects while others did not.

One thing I will say about this movie was that it was entertaining, The Action was really awesome and sort of reminded me of Man of Steel's action set pieces that felt big, spectacular, and visually striking. The action scenes were really the best part of this movie and every time Black Adam was in an action scene it felt exciting and not just the Black Adam action scenes but characters like Doctor Fate, Hawkman, Cyclone and Atom Smasher all had good action scenes.

Big credit to Jaume Collet-Serra, the man knows how to direct stellar action scenes and not just the action the visuals and CGI in this movie were just beautiful and some even jaw-dropping. The visuals involving Doctor Fate especially were great along with Cyclone too. This movie was clearly one of the most visually impressive Superhero movies I've ever watched including the action.

The characters overall were decent, I was really looking forward to Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate and he was the best character for me. Pierce Brosnan gave a really good performance and every time Doctor Fate was on screen it Felt special, and his chemistry with Hawkman (Hawkman was a decent character as well and his action scenes vs Black Adam were some of the best parts of the movie,Aldis Hodge gives a good performance too) was nice also scenes between Cyclone and Atom Smasher were charming.

Now for Black Adam himself, The Rock has the perfect look for Black Adam I think he was the perfect casting and in this movie he does give a good performance, he's intense, funny at times and sympathetic but my Number one issue with this movie is that it's NOT A BLACK ADAM STORY. As someone who reads comics, it's kinda disappointing to see this version of Black Adam, They go more with the heroic route not exactly the FULL Anti Hero route either when in the comics he starts off as a pure villain then works his way to being more of an Anti-Hero whereas in this he starts off as an Anti-Hero and ends up in this weird mix between Hero/Anti-Hero they fully don't commit to either which is jarring for the story and kind of won’t make sense if he were to go up against Shazam or Superman in the future with the story they told.

Also, some moments felt like I was watching a Marvel movie(not the good kind), like some of the humor felt corny and awkward and honestly, Superhero movies/Hollywood movies kinda need to stir away from MCU awkward/forced humor and come up with something unique. I mean it dealt with humor well for the most part and better than recent Marvel movies to be honest just some scenes felt corny and awkward, especially for a DC movie. Also the villain was generic and shoehorned in the last act of the movie too but the action scenes between the main villain and JSA/Black Adam were good.

Another point is characters like Amon and Adrianna Tomaz who were connecting to Black Adam were decent but turned into annoying characters at times especially the Kid who had a fanboy relationship with Black Adam was annoying similar to Ironman 3 with some scenes between The Kid and Black Adam being the worst scenes in the movie. The tone of Black Adam was balanced mostly well between serious moments and comedic scenes despite the awkward humor and corniness in some scenes as I mentioned and the pacing was really well done too between the story and action.

So overall despite my complaints about the average to the sometimes mediocre story, awkward humor and some corny scenes I was mostly entertained with this movie the action was honestly great to epic at times. The visuals and CGI were great and stunning at times. Characters like Doctor Fate, Hawkman, Karim(who was the comic relief) who was funny and the Rock as Black Adam who does a good job portraying Black Adam and pulls off the look of comic Black Adam, and his action scenes were amazing despite not really being a comic accurate Black Adam story and ends up being this weird mix between Hero/Ant-Hero. I HAD FUN though which is the most important part and for the first time in a long time I have hope for the future of the DCEU and finally, the post-credit scene alone is a 10/10!!… Expand

The acting is passable in this film. I don’t mean that negatively towards any of the performances. I feel everyone was doing the best they could with the script they were given. My only small complaint is Dwayne Johnson plays himself like he does in everyone of his movies. This has a certain charm, but it would have been nice to see Black Adam sound and feel a bit different to Dwayne Johnson. The script is my biggest problem with the movie. It needed more time in the writing room. A lot of themes are half baked which is a shame. For instance, there are hints at a deeper friendship between Dr Fate and Hawkman but this is never really developed. Furthermore, Black Adam is supposed to be an antihero. This could have created a really interesting dynamic but it stopped short. I never felt any sense of the character being anything but a hero. He only killed people trying to kill him and they were obviously already bad. An opportunity was missed here.

The movie suffers from an overreliance on CGI like most modern superhero movies. What is worse, there were a few times in the film where the CGI was noticeably bad. If you are going to rely on CGI, then you need to ensure it is not obvious. To sum up…it is tolerable. It wont win any Oscars or Razzies and I don’t feel like a wasted my money on buying a ticket…especially with the after credits cameo. But, I was more excited during the cameo than I was in the whole film. I only hope a sequel would take full advantage of the character of Black Adam as this movie certainly has not.… Expand

Meh. Its good enough for a basic superhero movie but its not mind blowing. I'm not a fan of the Rock as an actor- he just always seems like a miscast wrestler to me in everything he's in, but at least this fits his body type.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. watched the first show available at suncoast casino in Durban. I absolutely loved it. Johnson delivers on your promise of huge Changeup within the DCEU.
Firstly I must admit I'm not fan of anybody in the Rocks family. They are all overpriviledged and awarded everything they have without working half as hard as their peers. Dwayne however has learned skills, upped his game and tough I'm no fan I am often impressed and entertained by his work.
This movie is such an occasion.
The characters aren't developed in a traditional fashion, rather there is a lot of flashback work. There isn't much in the way of groundbreaking narrative. There's very little familiarity with the rest of the DCEU. But it's still freaking awesome. The action is a mile a second, Johnson is probably the most charismatic DCEU til date, the CGI is mind-blowing.
Though the story feels like it's got elements that have been done before it still holds your attention for every second of the movie.
The performances are excellent. Firstly Aldis Hodges Hawkman is annoying as hell. But in many ways the character is meant to be. Hodge plays it will suave matching Johnson in alpha male stakes.
The 2 younger members of the team are good but don't have much scope to shine.
Dwayne Johnson nails Black Adam and makes the character his own in a way few DCEU leads could ever hope to.
Then to our legendary Thesbian Pearce Brosnan, he is perfect in every frame that he's in. His Dr Fate character almost steals the show from Johnson in a movie titled Black Adam. It just reminds you of Gandalf from Lord of the rings. He's imperious and hilarious at the same time. There's times when he observes the rival between Teth Adam and Kufor, in those moments he just looks like an amused father watching his 2 should brats at play. His final sequence in the movie is both impressive and heart wrenching simultaneously.

Henry Cavills appearance mid credits as Sups is a wow moment and he looks comic book accurate. This is exciting especially after we've learned Affleck will make a similar appearance in Aquaman 2.
Maybe Snyder's vision isn't dead after all.

The movie is a must watch if you're a DCEU fan. This is universe building at it's best.… Expand

I am a fan of The Rock. He is funny and off-the-wall in a lot of his movies, which makes his over-the-top characters endearing. La scrittura a tratti è ridicola, i ralenty sono talvolta imbarazzanti, The Rock sembra un pezzo di Tofu che si muove in giro, il villain ha la profondità di una foglio di carta, la JSA non alcun approfondimento e sbuca dal niente, la continuity narrativa non esiste.
Ma gli effetti visivi non sono malvagi, Black Adam ha una messa in scena tutto sommato dignitosa e spacca tutto con una certa grazia e Pierce Brosnan porta a casa la pagnotta.
Il punto è che nonostante i molti difetti del film, questo Black Adam non risulta assolutamente peggiore di tanta merda che ci è stata offerta durante la fase 4 della Disney (MCU); eppure, spazzatura tipo Eternals, il ben diretto ma idiota Doctor Strange 2, il bruttissimo Black widow e il vuoto Shang Chi sono stati recensiti meglio.

So it's fair to tell this movie has many action scenes for fan service. With a plot that easy to guess and a little twist, Black Adam is worth to watch definitely.

Esse filme é excelente. Muita pancadaria, ação, ótimo visual dos personagens, algo que estava faltando a um tempo em filmes desse gênero. Eu ia dar 8.5 por causa do moleque chato, mas resolvi dar um 10 por me trazer uma sensação boa aoEsse filme é excelente. Me gustó que el tono de la película esté más cerca de Batman v Superman que de Shazam. Buena película, buen personaje y buen protagonista. La trama es lo que puedes esperar de una película de superhéroes y pocas escenas de chistes, pero bienMe gustó que el tono de la película esté más cerca de Batman v Superman que de Shazam. Espectaculares los personaje de Hawkman y Dr Fate, aunque este último no tan poderoso como su contraparte de los cómics.
Lo malo lo mismo de siempre con las películas de #DCEU, el poco desarrollo de los personajes. No empatizas con ninguno ni en escenas donde el peligro de muerte es inminente. I really hope for the sake of humanity that one day, once this whole superhero frenzy dies down, the film historians will look back at this time period (starting with the 2001 X-Men to whenever it ends) as an embarrassment and a low point in movie history. The common defenses for the superhero movies are "it's escapism", "they aren't meant to be serious", even though some of them take themselves far too seriously to the point of unintentional comedy (TDK trilogy, BvS, The Batman) and of course "if you don't like it, don't watch it".
Infantilization of cinema and keeping the adult children in a perpetual state of arrested development, validating their childhood obsessions and flattering their egos, studios know who their audience is and they don't respect you, not one bit. WB/DC has the dark and gritty™ so the viewers can say: "maybe I'm not wasting my time watching people in silly costumes fighting each other, look the movie is so dark and serious, it's a crime drama.", and to them that automatically makes it good.
Marvel movies are more light hearted which doesn't make them neither better nor worse, but there is a line for how much jokes and gags you can take before you start rolling your eyes.
Black Adam is one more nail in the cinematic coffin of Hollywood, too bad it won't be the final.

Loved it, people say the rock plays the same character type, how does he, when most of the time he plays a hero role. He has over 324mil followers on his instagram account, and they are gunna love it. DC going stronger then most people think
