Just saw it today on my way home from work and it was amazing. There's no garbage woke political agenda crap on it that's why critics give it a bad review, for me the movie was fun, full of action pack from beginning to end.

One of the worst big budget films that I have ever seen. Poorly written and directed. Did not care for the main characters, probably due to the complete lack of character building. Most of it was action scenes which became predictable and boring.

Characters were well-developed, as well as the relationship between some of them. Many characters were essential to the movie's plot as their development moved along with it. Clarity of ending of the movie was somewhat satisfactory, leaving more to be desired. Overall, Black Adam is a great action-packed movie with suspenseful scenes and moments of comedy in between fast-paced, action-packed fighting scenes.… Expand

I think this movie is literally average movie, nothing more than this. If some battle scene gives you satisfaction, the other one can't give this feeling. I went to see a cool destructive movie in which The Rock kicks the absolute living s***t out of everyone, and that's exactly what I got. Couldn't be happier.

There was a bit of too much fluff at the very end, can be cut in future releases.

The SFX are very well done and help make the mediocre writing more believable.

Unfortunately, this seems like another thoughtless creation to come out of the Emmerich, Hamada, Johns camp. I really hope the new management learns from their mistakes. This movie had amazing potential and phenomenal talent, too bad they couldn't get a better script.… Expand

What has potential to be a crowd pleaser was more like a snoozer. There were times I thought Duane Johnson was going to turn to the camera, arch an eyebrow and say, “Are you smelling what The Rock is cooking?! “ I didn’t know anythingWhat has potential to be a crowd pleaser was more like a snoozer. There were times I thought Duane Johnson was going to turn to the camera, arch an eyebrow and say, “Are you smelling what The Rock is cooking?! “ I didn’t know anything about the comic book character ‘Black Adam ‘ before seeing this movie. The movie does a great job explaining his back story: a slave who sees his family executed due to his son defying the emperor. When the emperor tries to execute the son the gods decide to not allow it and saves him. They empower the son to be a champion of the people. The slave also becomes empowered (not going to put a spoiler in here to explain how that happens) yet the gods conclude his abuse of those powers cannot be tolerated so they place him in tomb like prison for eternity. Switching to current times the city is still occupied with the people being abused. There is a race on to recover the emperor’s crown made from a rare earth mineral (an obvious rip off from ‘Black Panther ‘). There are two factors going after the crown: those who want to hide it so it cannot be used for evil and those who want to use that power. It is this retrieving of the crown that leads to ‘Black Adam’ being freed from his prison. He wasted no time killing as many as possible who were trying to recover the crown for evil purposes but not the people trying to recover the crown to hide it. Basically anyone who aimed a weapon at him. Once you open your movie with this amount of violence how can you top it and keep your audience entertained? The answer is this movie can’t. Every thing after this is basically a rehash of the first 25 minutes. The grade B DC characters sent to ‘arrest’ him are ridiculous: ‘Black Adam’ has these powers and you send THESE three?! Superman wasn’t available (maybe in a sequel)? The ending was worse… I won’t spoil it here other than to say stretching it out as long as possible was awful. By this time I was hoping that ‘Black Adam’ would decimate the city and save us all in the audience.… Expand

Excellent action movie, explosions, muscles, The Rock, nothing like a sexy man to delight the pupil, this is entertainment and for men a lot of testosterone throughout the film, I had a great time with this movie, I recommend it.

One of the best superhero movies I've seen in quite some time. Adam is a refreshing character - not a morally good superhero who never kills but very grey character on his way to find redemption.

Finally Big Super heroes team again! Goodbye to the latest floppy of Marvel’s big team, Eternals (2021). Marvel still failed to make a great big superhero team again, after the Avenger's end. Wait, how about Marvel’s Guardian of The Galaxy or the new Thor Adventure?
Umm.. that’s so a different market compared to the Avengers. So, it seems DC Comics is ready to rock their failure by casting The Rock as Black Adam. To rockin’ more, this movie cast a huge cast such as old James Bond, Pierce Brosnan. Demand more rock? There is a rock song from one of the greatest bands, The Rolling Stone.

The movie story is pretty odd because some of them are doesn’t make sense. But, slowly but surely it is revealed to make it make sense, although it is still not plausible. Friendly reminder, this is very typical for superheroes movie, so plz don’t compare to sci-fi, mystery, or even Martin Scorsese’s movies. Superhero movies focused on moral values, motivation, inspiration, and any emotional things. Not a logical thing, for sure. But still, this movie story could be greater! Best DC Comics movie story still Batman or Watchmen (2009).

Besides, the visuals were pretty disappointing. It could be greater too!? Personally, my best DC Comic visuals, especially on CGI are the Aquaman or Batman movies. But, this movie still has affordable visuals.

However, this movie is so satisfying! Suitable paced not boring or too long narration, and vividly feels like a superhero ambiance. Also, these movie jokes are fit, not too much but still funny. We might be already bored with the typical funny guy hero movie such as Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). Rite? Another satisfaction is the chars. This movie tells us big superhero team, Justice Society. This must be an intro for new movies of the DC Comic blockbuster arc! This could be proven by the mid-credit scene, don’t miss it at the end of this movie! Besides, personally, I love Dr. Fate's char! His looks and persona are so fancy & very extravagant! Sadly, he didn’t the main char so just appeared occasionally. Lastly, great moral values are very typical of superheroes movie. This movie implied, RN, irl, we mustn't see anything through the binary lens, only black and white. But, it is politically proper and not too much or too vivid such as Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). Recap, better watch it! It seems important to catch up the next DC Comics superheroes, esp. upcoming Aquaman sequels! Claimed as a part of DC Extended Universes (DCEU). That is why this movie provides a lot of superheroes. Good to fueled our demand for superheroes team ambiance! 7/10.… Expand

Set in the imaginary Middle East country of Kahndaq, this meaty, feature-length teaser reframes a fan-favorite 'Shazam!' baddie as an antihero, though his greatest battles are still to come. Dwayne Johnson's larger-than-life physique makes him an ideal actor to play a superhero and Black Adam caters to his strengths, resulting in a reasonably entertaining origin story of a Middle Eastern slave who is transformed into a god. So in the year 2600BC a bunch of Wizards gave the power of the gods to a young slave in order to stop the evil King Ahk-Ton from using the evil crown of Sabbac. He triumphs, making him the Champion of Kahndaq. Now nearly 5,000 years later he his accidently awakened in modern day Kahndaq. Deemed too powerful, it’s time to call in some professionals to deal with him. Cue The Justice League……no wait, that’s not right……The Suicide Squad……oh no, not them either, ah yes, The Justice Society of America……that lot. Made up of Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Dr. Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell) and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo). And no I’m not making these up. Christ the DCEU is a right mess. I wish they’d just calm down with all the team up movies, it was half-assed before and it’s the same again. For anyone who didn’t already know, yes this is a Shazam spin-off.

Alright I don’t ever want to see slow motion used in another Superhero movie ever again, ya hear me? You ruined it. Black Adam probably could have been twenty minutes shorter if it wasn’t for the extreme overuse of slow motion. Feckin’ ridiculous. Enough is enough. This right here is the result of a bunch of mindless money hungry studio executives sitting in a room and brainstorming a way to make a Blockbuster Superhero movie that will rake in the cash. Get one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood to sign on as the lead and bam! You’ve got yourself a Superhero movie, and a rather heartless one at that.

Black Adam is a giant disappointment and I didn’t exactly have high expectations to begin with. It’s dull, stupid and uses an obnoxious amount of terrible CGI for the endless crashy fight scenes. There’s also plenty of slow motion to make sure you don’t miss anything. And look I know many of the comic-book movies rely on lots of CGI but it’s just not up to standard anymore. Either pay the VFX artists better or allow more time to make it actually look decent.

There is absolutely nothing exciting about Black Adam, it’s one of the most underwhelming Superhero movies I have ever seen. There is zero peril, no sense that the hero is ever in danger or in trouble. They’ve created the blandest character imaginable, a hero so ultimately powerful it’s boring. He’s surrounded by a bunch of underdeveloped characters showing up for more awful CGI fight scenes. Lots of explosions, lightning bolts and evil red lasers.

Black Adam isn’t the worst Superhero movie I’ve ever seen, it’s not even the worst DC movie out there but it’s close. Too close. Recommended for any DCEU fans, I’m sure there’s still a few of you out there. The mid credits scene lasted about a minute but it was better than the entire film for one obvious reason.… Expand

The most notable of these is, of course, the degree of anti-heroism displayed by the titular character. Make no mistake, no huge "lines" are crossed here, but the wrathfulness is undeniably fun to watch nonetheless. This thing moves quite briskly as well — sometimes to its own detriment. With that, though, I can say I was never bored while watching this. There's always something going on, a lot of which works. Other things don't. A few of the side characters are a bit grating. A portion of the humor doesn't land. Effects waver in quality on occasion. Johnson, Brosnan and Hodge are quite good, though. In the end, I'd say, "Black Adam" is perfectly decent — and admittedly dumb — fun.… Expand

The scenes between the action parts are not bad, and add some depth to the movie. Unfortunately it's only about 5 minutes throughout the film...

The action sequences were intermittently spread throughout the movie and were well executed to the most minute of details. Additionally, each action sequence is unique and showcases the protagonist's abilities. You really feel like you're watching a celestial being amongst humans and not an episode of power rangers(like in some recent super hero movies I wont name). I had watched reviews saying the action was over done or something along those lines and thats 100% untrue. The other heroes in the movie are also well done and fans will love this. You never feel like they had to tone down one character in order to make another character look great(like in Thor love and Thunder). Instead they make it obvious which characters are more powerful like in the comics. By doing this, the characters gel well. You can tell they put in the time to make sure the audience saw these character's true abilities on the big screen. It was fun watching Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone(Justice Society) portrayed excellently on the big screen. There is a surprise after the credits and its absolutely phenomenon. One final great detail about this movie is the distinction between Black Adam's way of pursuing justice and the one of the Justice Society. This is a crucial part of the movie. All I can say is thank you to Dwyane Johnson for bringing back good movies and some other thing you must see in the post credit scenes. To the critics that dont like this movie go watch Titanic and leave this for the fans and general population.… Expand

Trash. No character development. Invincible main hero. Story plot? Not much too it. Don't waste your time and money unless you are going to see it with a 12 year old who likes special effects.

This is just terrible. There is nothing good about this movie. The story is dumb and the effects are as bad as I've seen in a DC flick, and that's an achievement. This reminds me of a cheap foreign knock-off of the X-men.

Wow! So much better than I thought it would be! I loved all the characters and the character development. It has been a while since my partner and I went to the movies. Recently a new cinema opened up in our town so we decided to call in and watch Black Adam. The film was what I have been missing about going to the cinema the last few years. AIt has been a while since my partner and I went to the movies. A simple distraction from reality and a fun time. It is fair to say this film wont win any Oscar’s or generate cerebral thinking, but if you want a fun time and enjoy over the top action that doesn’t take its self too serious then I would advice giving this a watch. This film lacks much in “in your face” political messaging which is what I’ve been missing. I want good, fun films given how depressing the world is.… Expand

Black Adam is an enjoyable superhero film that seemed to be doubted by critics, but enjoyed by fans. Very entertaining superhero film that imposes a superman like protagonist and dominating everybody who stands in their way. I didn’t know a lot about Black Adam going into the movie, but I’d heard and seen a lot of reviews as they have been hard to avoid. The reviews for Black Adam here on Metacritic are definitely a case of when the critics and users don’t agree.I didn’t know a lot about Black Adam going into the movie, but I’d heard and seen a lot of reviews as they have been hard to avoid. The reviews for Black Adam here on Metacritic are definitely a case of when the critics and users don’t agree. I think the users are more accurate this time. I’ve even read a few were I’m not sure if they actually saw the movie. It’s a great COMIC movie. Probably one of the best that WB and DC have made. If you go in expecting anything more, you’ll likely be disappointed. There is so much here that was fresh. I like a lot of the action sequences, but I loved that they put both feet completely in the antihero aspect. Black Adam doesn’t care if he hurts or kills anyone and I believed The Rock in that role. Now, a lot of the plot was easy to see coming, but there were a few twist that I didn’t see coming. Like a lot of these movies there are annoying third act issues. As the plot progresses you can tell that it’s not ending so the decision to immediately undo what they just accomplished is frustrating. Most of the acting is fine, but there are some strange choices from the “people” of the region and the kid. I think this is more of a director issue possibly not know what they wanted at the time of filming or maybe were the movie was going. All of this said, if you liked Aquaman I think that you will enjoy this.… Expand

The Rock followed through on his promise and gave fans what they want - tons and tons of action! Loved the movie, can't wait to see the DCEU revolve around Black Adam as the most powerful entity on par with Supes and Shazam. As for the movie,The Rock followed through on his promise and gave fans what they want - tons and tons of action! Loved the movie, can't wait to see the DCEU revolve around Black Adam as the most powerful entity on par with Supes and Shazam. As for the movie, I thought Dr.Fate and the kid with the skateboard (Amon) really stole the show. The Rock was made for this role and can't wait to see him in other films. His role as Black Adam is on par with Robert Downey Jr/Iron Man that set the table for stage 1. While RD Jr. is a better actor, the Rock is way more of a bad man and oozes way more style and cool factor. This is DC's Phase 1 and super excited to see how it turns out! Hey Marvel, this is your cue to catch up and put out better movies please!… Expand
