There is a major problem when the best part of your movie is the post-credits scene and only because another and more famous superhero appears in it.

Dwayne Johnson wanted Black Adam to be many things and with that intention the filmThere is a major problem when the best part of your movie is the post-credits scene and only because another and more famous superhero appears in it.

Dwayne Johnson wanted Black Adam to be many things and with that intention the film pretends too much while delivering mediocre results that also exposes what a crappy actor he is.

It remains to be seen what they will do with The Flash to get another idea about the franchise, but DC and Warner have shown once again that they don't have a damn plan regarding what they want to do with their cinematic universe. And that's because, film after film, there's simply nothing that can bring it to life.

It's going to make money, and they'll make a sequel because of it. But it doesn't deserve it. Anyone with half a brain cell can recognize a carbon copy studio conjured product when they see one. Just a Thor Marvel ripoff, but much worse.

After so many flops from DC and muddled messes of movies that missed the tone entirely DC finally seem to be putting out some good content, between the last suicide squad movie the peacemaker series and now this I'm seeing some hopeful lightAfter so many flops from DC and muddled messes of movies that missed the tone entirely DC finally seem to be putting out some good content, between the last suicide squad movie the peacemaker series and now this I'm seeing some hopeful light ahead for them, brutally honest I was tired of snyders attempt to turn the DC universe into a 300 sucker punch mashup with the same tones and writing that truly was not fitting of the characters at all, jesse eisenberg springs to mind instantly when it comes to casting, his lex luthor being closer to the riddler was enough to make me shake my head and let us not remind ourselves of the Martha fiasco and the use of an actual bathroom sink in their fight, but this I've been waiting to see dwayne johnson play black adam since the late 90s when I didn't even know his real name and he was perfect in the role, DC have finally got it and hopefully this is a fresh new start for them!… Expand

The beginning was fine except for there being a kid narrator. and then the movie suffers from anything that goes with a badly written child character. The action which there was plenty of was fun but not greatly choreographed. Smasher and Cyclones action was lackluster like they didn't know how to use them. Smasher himself only punched 2 times in the whole movie and was comedic relief the rest of the time. Cyclone for someone as smart as she is supposed to be, its clear the writers used her powers like a child would of. anime characters have used wind powers with far more imagination. Hawkman and Dr.Fate were great, both the characters and actors. sadly the writers depowered Dr.Fate as he alone is a match for Adam in the comics, and Hawkmans mace was not hitting anywhere near its power in the comics. Black Adam was a hero, not an anti hero and def not a bad guy in any shape or form in this movie. His very Dark Origin from the comics is compleatly turned around to give him a more loving twist. Instead of wanting all of the power he shares with his son and killing him to gain it as in the comics, his son just gives it to him to save his father and then the boy dies from arrows and Adam goes into grief riddled revenge. the final bad guy is a travasty, who is he, why do i care, idk, forgotten like the wind. the movie is not that great.… Expand

Black Adam is an overstuffed movie that never finds its rhythm and feels awkward more than it feels exciting and fun. I liked the overall story when you look at it from afar, but when you dig into the details, that's where the movie misses its mark. The worst part from Black Adam is the dialogue, there's too many moments where you cringe and want to stuff your head in a pillow. It never found an identity or flow within the story, it tried to be too much in a 2 hour span. The writers could have taken a different approach with the political messaging and write about what's happening in the Middle East today, but decided to write a generic "we are oppressed by foreign invaders" story and never dove into it. I liked the major plot points that the story got to in each act, but again when looking into the details of how we got there thats where the story isn't as ironed out as it should be. The action is fun and looks great, but honestly you will enjoy this movie just as much by watching the action scenes on Youtube once it's released. Another high end DC movie and yet again they are still struggling to find their identity in the superhero genre.… Expand

It was a decent, entertaining film. I lament a time in the not so but increasingly distant past when adjectives such as "decent" or even the generic "ok" meant the film was slightly mediocre and was probably not worth the time. In the era we live in, it might as translate to a Best Picture Oscar contender. It was better than some of the drivel in the inconsistent mess that is DC extended universe, but that's not saying very much. I can be pleasantly surprised by the Rock NOT dragging down the film with his acting. There are many ways in which the direction, writing, editing and even casting could have been improved, but 'Black Adam' kept me fairly engaged for two hours, and that's all I can ask for films nowadays.… Expand

Black Adam is entertaining (even a bit generic as mostly haters say) DCU action movie. I think they're gonna do well & first sign for it is Peacemaker's S02 arriving maybe before next summer. Also hope good success for DCU's Blue Beetle when it comes out before mid next year. I would give it a 9/10 if it was in 3D and if it didn't use the Illuminati sign for freedom. In reality the Illuminati is against freedom and is for the new word order and depopulation. Black Adam, Me ha gustado de principio a fin, inicio con acción fluyendo en armonía acompañado esto al desarrollo de la historia se va dando y cumple el cometido de entretener. Como se permitió abrir paso a otros superhéroes, en la narrativa algo forzado se aprecia a simple vista. Comparar con otras de este tipo no tiene mucho sentido, puesto que criticar en base a otras es una tarea pueril.
Sobre la historia se relata de buena manera, en contadas partes la ilación flaquea en la situación de los eventos, aunque a este tipo de películas de superhéroes es lo de menos. The Rock cumple en cuanto a su actuación, es un personaje para la acción reconozco que en este movie se aprecia una mínima porción de su parte dramática. Excesos en imágenes en cámara lenta es lo que note. Quede conforme, tenia reticencia de ver por los malos comentarios de la critica, ahi es cuando entiendo que no debo guiarme por ellos.… Expand

Streamers, the long-awaited DC Comic adaptation of Black Adam is finally here. We finally get to see Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam. Black Adam is set about 5,000 years after he was bestowed with powers. After freeing his hometown, Kahndaq,Streamers, the long-awaited DC Comic adaptation of Black Adam is finally here. We finally get to see Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam. Black Adam is set about 5,000 years after he was bestowed with powers. After freeing his hometown, Kahndaq, Black Adam finds himself waiting in confinement for his time to return as Kahndaq’s savior. Freed from his tomb, Black Adam is ready to unleash his justice on modern day Kahndaq and dares anyone to stop him. DC Comic action ensues.

Let’s get this out of the way: the movie is quite entertaining but of course DC Comics will DC Comics. As we know from their previous installments, they come with a lot of hype but sometimes they just fizzle in the full execution. This movie is no different, but the fizzle is honestly quite less. The issues here are more annoying than bad. For instance, The Rock and the rest of the cast are going to bring us comedy, but I found that the one-liners that were supposed to make us chuckle missed the mark. Watching, I knew the line was supposed to be funny, but the flow of the movie blows passed the line or something. It seems like the editing of the movie messed with the timing for some of these jokes, and it happened a few too many times. There are still funny moments that hit hard, but those moments that fell flat are noticeable. Along with that, the script felt repetitive. Characters seemed to be saying the same thing over and over. I get that they were trying to drive home the theme of the movie but come off it!

Next, I hate when really smart people in movies conveniently forget something they know that is very simple just so it can lead to a twist or turning point in the movie. It happened here and it literally makes no sense. It’s just annoying that it happened. It’s not terrible just like eh come on DC, y’all couldn’t have thought of a better way to either make the situation harder to figure out or something. Again, annoying but not bad.

Lastly, we’re fighting this god-like figure, why do we bring someone to the fight that clearly can’t help. My girl, Quintessa Swindell wasn’t asked to do much with her character, Cyclone, so naturally she did perfectly well. However, Cyclone had no business in this movie. Her powers were demonstrated beautifully and very artistically but in no way would be helpful in this fight. Like come on DC Comics, y’all could’ve put any other character in this spot that might have been actually helpful. So again, it’s not bad just annoying or a missed opportunity by the filmmakers. On top of that, it’s hard to have a movie with characters similar to the MCU and then try to differentiate those characters. I find Dr. Fate and Atom Smasher a bit too close to Dr. Strange and Ant-Man. It’s hard to see them demonstrate powers and not get the feeling I’ve seen this before. This isn’t the movie’s fault but it’s just a byproduct of the DC and Marvel race copycatting each other over the decades. Nevertheless, it’s hard to shake that feeling, especially in the fight sequences.

Now, for the good. The movie is crisp, clean, hard hitting, similar to the other DC movies. On this alone, the movie is one of those movies you turn on just to ooh and ahh at the action sequences on FX. The characters are portrayed very well, and producers definitely cast the movie well. Johnson’s Black Adam is stoic, powerful, callous but caring and clever. Of course, we get the power for the character, but Johnson also shows some sentimental acting in the flick that helps show the character’s depth of emotions and burden in the movie. They could’ve easily taken the character into a typical Johnson film and comedy, but they toed the line pretty well, allowing him some comic relief without losing the stoic strength. Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman is suave, smart, powerful and relentless. Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate was quite fitting as well.

With that said, Black Adam is an entertaining movie that plans to keep the DC Comic Universe continuing over the next years. Black Adam isn’t without its issues which is typical to DC Comics and their finnicky execution. Dwayne Johnson and cast bring a hard-hitting character to life. It’s hard to say this movie is not worth seeing on the big screen but I also realize comic fans may also be annoyed with the movie a bit. You will not be mad seeing this on big screen but just realize there will be some DC Comic movie issues. I mean the movie is worth seeing for the after-credit scene alone… *Nudge Nudge*… Expand

Quite entertaining film. The Rock is perfect for the role. He plays his typical role as a tough guy which fits him very well but now as an anti-hero. This is an honest film ...Trailer shows a lot of fighting and we get more of that we can imagine with amazing second roles like dr fate and hawkman.... The Rock is a Beast the casting is really good . 10/10

Awesome movie with a nice actor The Rock. It's simple, intriguing, fun and just good. I'm not disappointed by a superhero movie since a while. That alone is quite impressing :)

Es correcta, no sorprende demasiado (cosa que le perjudica), y tiene algún agujero/contradicción en el guion que hubiese molado mucho más si incidiera (como el mensaje en el que se centra en toda la peli).
Para mi gusto, le faltan más momentos de esos que recuerdas dentro de un tiempo, creo que a excepción de uno con el Dr. Fate poco más me voy a acordar de esta película.

· Cosas buenas: se diferencia de otras (a pesar de contar lo mismo que otras), tiene alguna secuencia de pelea que es fantástica y súper frenética. El reparto es maravilloso, aunque quizás algo desaprovechado, Dr. Fate me encantó. No se me hizo larga, la reflexión es interesante pero me habría gustado que incidiera más en "qué es ser un héroe", la música me pareció bastante chula y, cómo no, la ESCENA post-créditos, wow.
· Cosas malas: The Rock, lo siento pero nunca me gustó y dudo que me guste Dwayne Johnson, no lo trago ni le acabo de pillar el humor (por mucho que suba la ceja), demasiados efectos visuales en algunos momentos, la cámara lenta a lo Snyder me pone de los nervios. El montaje, con algunos errores y demasiado abuso del etalonaje (ya nos hemos enterado de que estamos en África, gracias), muchos clichés, poco guion (le falta incidir más en algunos personajes que podrían haber molado), el villano es horrible, y puede que tanta acción se te haga repetitiva.
· Conclusión: cuando salí del cine, salí contento, pensando en que me había gustado, cosa que es cierto, pero con una sensación extraña que consistía en una mezcla de pensamientos entre si la película está sobrecargada o subdesarrollada, y he llegado a la conclusión de que ambas, le sobran algunas partes, y faltan algunas partes, para mí, no se acabó de encontrar del todo.… Expand

Amazing movie, that's how you make an anti-hero: ruthless, violent and cooperative only when the purposes are the same.
The Justice Society is a very nice "hero add" to the cast, Brosnan was born to be Fate and Hawkman was a surprise.

The action was DC type action and I'm saying that to the story is usually average but the action was in your face and smash mouth and of course they did the slo-mo thing DC does. The story just lacked a lot it seemed like. I love the setting in Black Adams native land and bringing it to modern day, but the kid and mom became almost annoying to the point I was wondering why are they still a major part of the story and not to knock the actors but just did seem like a likely story line for Black Adam. The last thing I will say is why is this kid riding around on a skateboard in set pieces that looked like it was from a 90s era movie. Overall I would still recommend to watch, but not at the movie theater wait till its available for stream.… Expand

The action is excellent, but the writing is pretty bad. When watching a DJ movie, you have to go into it with certain expectations and Black Adam is no exception. Definitely a very good film. There's NON-STOP action and Dwayne Johnson gives a stellar performance. Ignore the so-called "expert critics" you hear about giving this a bad review. One of my friends told me, that is 5/10, so I went to the cinema without much hopes but, heck. My friend was wrong, the film is full of action, funny, a bit brutal and not too long (in UK 125 min). Good to see some anti-hero action. Show is far from perfect, but The Rock and Pierce Brosnan performed phenomenal. Hope for better in the future. Solid show, I enjoyed it.

This movie is in a way a reboot of the DCEU, because several questions canBlack Adam as a character he has lots of potential. Unfortunately this movie cared little about his story, but more about creating an action pack sequence of events.

This movie is in a way a reboot of the DCEU, because several questions can be asked. Like where was the JSA in Man of Steel and Justice League.

Everyone was so in awe with Superman, when the Earth already had a kind of super man of the past called Black Adam, other superhuman characters. Several movies lose some sense seeing the JSA and the existence of Black Adam, proves that there is a far deeper history of the Earth that is only now being revealed.

And that is a huge flaw, because it raises questions that only harm the movies already done. Unless of course WB is now attempting to reboot the DCEU, but in such a soft way that it doesn't feel like a reboot.

As for the movie Black Adam... Can't really say I was surprised in the least with anything that happened. I had already guessed it right, how they were going to change Teth-Adam origin story to appeal to the viewers. So there was no surprise there, only the confirmation of my own theories.

Characters like Dr Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell) deserved a movie before Black Adam. To give us more insight and a better understanding of their connection.

Pierce Brosnan was definitely brilliant as Dr Fate, landing his lines with the perfection expected of a grade A actor. And as a character, he deserved more than what he got in his movie.

The dynamic between the JSA members was refreshing, because there was no wokeness between Cyclone and the other characters. She was part of the team, and never once does she act as if she's superior to her male teammates, nor do they act superior to her.

As for Black Adam... It was Dwayne Johnson being himself. It was always clear that Johnson would never go along with the sometimes evil methods of the Black Adam of the comics, and so they adopted the more recent approach from the comics where Black Adam is more of an anti hero.

As for the character Adrianna Tomaz (Sarah Shahi) it's clear there was more she could've done or become, but unfortunately this movie is not about telling a great story balanced with some action scenes. This is an action movie with some story in there, just enough so people can understand what is happening.

It's clear that Adrianna Tomaz was set up to become Ísis, but that will demand sequels that at this point may or may not happen.

Overall, Black Adam is a movie that once it shifts to 5th gear it just doesn't stop. And like a Michael Bay Transformers movie, story is sacrificed in favor of action.

It's not a bad movie. Far from it. It's actually a good movie, and perhaps great for those looking for an action movie, but it could've been an overall great movie if they had left room for more.

Still. It was good start.… Expand

absolutely breath taking, i loved the movie from act 1 to the finale, I loved Dwanye's role as Black Adam and enjoyed the dynamics of the Justice Society

My first time writing a review but this is due to the fact that Black Adam is a great movie! Seriously, it is loads of fun and is certainly attention grabbing with a plot that may be familiar to superhero flick fans but definitely worth it!My first time writing a review but this is due to the fact that Black Adam is a great movie! estou dando nota 10 pq os últimos projetos de heróis estão uma merda, falo isso dos novos projetos da Marvel. quero projetos iguais a esse, claro que da pra melhorar muito, porem depois de muito coisa ruim, gostei de Adão.
