Complete garbage. The user scores everywhere make no sense. Black Adam is insulting the audience. Pitiful dialogue and awful acting. I've never cringed so much in my life.

What a disaster. I wish I could get my money back. As the other reviewer said, with the exception of Pierce Brosnan, there is no point in seeing this. Another low IQ movie for the masses. Look the rock plays the rock in everything. He has one style and thats it. Poor Pierce he does try but the writing is on par with rings of power. Go get you a book instead.

This was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It was like a second grader wrote it. It's only saving grace was Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. I am absolutely shocked. The number of positive views simply astound me - there are obviously a great number of people who like messed up, spliced together and pretty random bright coloured CGI sequences.

Ok, there were about 2 good jokes (out of quite a lot more). The music is - well 'generic' superhero background music which doesn't actually fit in with the video.

Wanted to like this but couldn’t. The plot is as generic as you can get. It ultimately is a combination of everything you have seen before mixed into one package with no originality. Dwayne’s performance is fine,but he’s too one note and always in mono tone voice. The action scenes try to be flashy but overdo it with the slow mo that shouldn’t be in the movie at all. The music is just generic super hero music which didn’t really help much and dampened the impact of the fight. DC is trying too hard to compete with Marvel and just can’t keep up. They need to stop trying to do that and focus on their own stories and own style. Very disappointing.… Expand

More of a rant against the superhero movies than a review.

I really hope for the sake of humanity that one day, once this whole superhero frenzy dies down, the film historians will look back at this time period (starting with the 2001 X-MenMore of a rant against the superhero movies than a review.

I really hope for the sake of humanity that one day, once this whole superhero frenzy dies down, the film historians will look back at this time period (starting with the 2001 X-Men to whenever it ends) as an embarrassment and a low point in movie history. The common defenses for the superhero movies are "it's escapism", "they aren't meant to be serious", even though some of them take themselves far too seriously to the point of unintentional comedy (TDK trilogy, BvS, The Batman) and of course "if you don't like it, don't watch it".
Infantilization of cinema and keeping the adult children in a perpetual state of arrested development, validating their childhood obsessions and flattering their egos, studios know who their audience is and they don't respect you, not one bit. WB/DC has the dark and gritty™ so the viewers can say: "maybe I'm not wasting my time watching people in silly costumes fighting each other, look the movie is so dark and serious, it's a crime drama.", and to them that automatically makes it good.
Marvel movies are more light hearted which doesn't make them neither better nor worse, but there is a line for how much jokes and gags you can take before you start rolling your eyes.
Black Adam is one more nail in the cinematic coffin of Hollywood, too bad it won't be the final.

"I can't wait for the 16th reboot of Batman and Avengers 37!!!" - average moviegoer, probably.… Expand

One of the worst big budget films that I have ever seen. Poorly written and directed. Did not care for the main characters, probably due to the complete lack of character building. Most of it was action scenes which became predictable and boring.

The SFX are very well done and help make the mediocre writing more believable.

Unfortunately, this seems like another thoughtless creation to come out of the Emmerich, Hamada, Johns camp. I really hope the new management learns from their mistakes. This movie had amazing potential and phenomenal talent, too bad they couldn't get a better script.… Expand

There were times I thought Duane Johnson was going to turn to the camera, arch an eyebrow and say, “Are you smelling what The Rock is cooking?! “ I didn’t know anything about the comic book character ‘Black Adam ‘ before seeing this movie. The movie does a great job explaining his back story: a slave who sees his family executed due to his son defying the emperor. When the emperor tries to execute the son the gods decide to not allow it and saves him. They empower the son to be a champion of the people. The slave also becomes empowered (not going to put a spoiler in here to explain how that happens) yet the gods conclude his abuse of those powers cannot be tolerated so they place him in tomb like prison for eternity. Switching to current times the city is still occupied with the people being abused. There is a race on to recover the emperor’s crown made from a rare earth mineral (an obvious rip off from ‘Black Panther ‘). There are two factors going after the crown: those who want to hide it so it cannot be used for evil and those who want to use that power. It is this retrieving of the crown that leads to ‘Black Adam’ being freed from his prison. He wasted no time killing as many as possible who were trying to recover the crown for evil purposes but not the people trying to recover the crown to hide it. Basically anyone who aimed a weapon at him. Once you open your movie with this amount of violence how can you top it and keep your audience entertained? The answer is this movie can’t. Every thing after this is basically a rehash of the first 25 minutes. The grade B DC characters sent to ‘arrest’ him are ridiculous: ‘Black Adam’ has these powers and you send THESE three?! Superman wasn’t available (maybe in a sequel)? The ending was worse… I won’t spoil it here other than to say stretching it out as long as possible was awful. By this time I was hoping that ‘Black Adam’ would decimate the city and save us all in the audience.… Expand

So in the year 2600BC a bunch of Wizards gave the power of the gods to a young slave in order to stop the evil King Ahk-Ton from using the evil crown of Sabbac. He triumphs, making him the Champion of Kahndaq. Now nearly 5,000 years later he his accidently awakened in modern day Kahndaq. Deemed too powerful, it’s time to call in some professionals to deal with him. Cue The Justice League……no wait, that’s not right……The Suicide Squad……oh no, not them either, ah yes, The Justice Society of America……that lot. Made up of Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Dr. Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell) and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo). And no I’m not making these up. Christ the DCEU is a right mess. I wish they’d just calm down with all the team up movies, it was half-assed before and it’s the same again. For anyone who didn’t already know, yes this is a Shazam spin-off.

Alright I don’t ever want to see slow motion used in another Superhero movie ever again, ya hear me? You ruined it. Black Adam probably could have been twenty minutes shorter if it wasn’t for the extreme overuse of slow motion. Feckin’ ridiculous. Enough is enough. This right here is the result of a bunch of mindless money hungry studio executives sitting in a room and brainstorming a way to make a Blockbuster Superhero movie that will rake in the cash. Get one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood to sign on as the lead and bam! You’ve got yourself a Superhero movie, and a rather heartless one at that.

Black Adam is a giant disappointment and I didn’t exactly have high expectations to begin with. It’s dull, stupid and uses an obnoxious amount of terrible CGI for the endless crashy fight scenes. There’s also plenty of slow motion to make sure you don’t miss anything. And look I know many of the comic-book movies rely on lots of CGI but it’s just not up to standard anymore. Either pay the VFX artists better or allow more time to make it actually look decent.

There is absolutely nothing exciting about Black Adam, it’s one of the most underwhelming Superhero movies I have ever seen. There is zero peril, no sense that the hero is ever in danger or in trouble. They’ve created the blandest character imaginable, a hero so ultimately powerful it’s boring. He’s surrounded by a bunch of underdeveloped characters showing up for more awful CGI fight scenes. Lots of explosions, lightning bolts and evil red lasers.

Black Adam isn’t the worst Superhero movie I’ve ever seen, it’s not even the worst DC movie out there but it’s close. Too close. Recommended for any DCEU fans, I’m sure there’s still a few of you out there. The mid credits scene lasted about a minute but it was better than the entire film for one obvious reason.… Expand

This is just terrible. There is nothing good about this movie. The story is dumb and the effects are as bad as I've seen in a DC flick, and that's an achievement. This reminds me of a cheap foreign knock-off of the X-men.

It's ugly, unpolished, weirdly paced, weakly written, full of meh CGI and sub-par acting save from some lines that Brosnan and Hodge deliver.

It does seem it wished to say something about the leftovers of colonialism and neo-imperialism, but it's all drowned under the sound of punches and wannabe funny one-liners.

If this is what DC's next phase will look like, then ew.… Expand

It's going to make money, and they'll make a sequel because of it. But it doesn't deserve it. Anyone with half a brain cell can recognize a carbon copy studio conjured product when they see one. Just a Thor Marvel ripoff, but much worse.

While I so appreciate The Rock giving it his all, the film was messy, convoluted and just an overall copy of everything Marvel has already done without bringing anything new to the table. Furchtbar. Der Film macht falsch, was man nur falsch machen kann.
