Astounding movie. You have to like fantasy films. Also you have to like nature saving type films like Final Fantasy or Pocahantus. If you are into all that then definitely see it and see it in 3D!

I thoroughly loved the film as a whole. The CGI characters express emotion as raw as their human counterparts which really brings the plot on the go. Everything in Pandora is both dangerous and wonderful. The romance between Jake and Neytiri I thoroughly loved the film as a whole. The CGI characters express emotion as raw as their human counterparts which really brings the plot on the go. Everything in Pandora is both dangerous and wonderful. The romance between Jake and Neytiri was central to the plot in my opinion. You get to empathize with the characters unlike other movies. I felt the excitement Jake had, the sadness, and the suspense. The spectacle lies not only in the effects but also in the story that touches hearts. A movie not to be missed. The best movie this 2009 and if I may the decade. Expand

My new favorite movie. Good cast, amazing visuals. Considering all the different elements that make up the movie, the dialogue is its weakest aspect, but taken as a whole, this is undoubtedly the best film of the decade.

It must be seen! It must be seen in 3D, it was the wildest experience, yes it is predictable, but felt I with the characters, believed in the world, I felt with the world. Yes it is a nearly 3-hour action movie, but it is so well done in every aspect. I hope Michael Bay sees this movie and learn a little, this is how such a film must be put together, the effects, the entire design of the world, the characters (Michelle Rodriguez kicks ass! Main character was so unbelievably cool) I'm really impressed, and I really want to watch it again immediately! (will not happen, but I would like to) I will get this movie on Blu-ray the second it comes out, but I know it will not be nearly as impressive on my 42 "TV with no surround sound or any other "sound source" than my tv, and no 3D as well. Avatar, yes it gets 10/10, so well done, so amazing, a masterpiece! It's kinda sad to know, that it's going to be so long before I can experience this movie again, and when I can, it won't be the same, it won't be the same by far! I was hypnotized. Expand

Okay everyone. The story and the characters were not the greatest ever. But for everyone who thinks that James Cameron should have put in the extra work to come up with a sweeping and epic story that captures the film better than this one i Okay everyone. The story and the characters were not the greatest ever. But for everyone who thinks that James Cameron should have put in the extra work to come up with a sweeping and epic story that captures the film better than this one i would like to see them direct such a monumental film with technology that doesn't exist yet and still have time for. The fact is, the screenplay is realistic. As in what people would actually say if they were in that situation. People don't usually come up with stunning new lines in real life, they use old fashioned to the point ones and that is what he has done. Visually the film is incredible. Easily one of the best looking and most imaginative films ever. The world of Pandora is as life like as the world around us and I left my second viewing even more immersed than the first. All the characters perks and expressions, all the actions and the significance. All the scenery and stunning camera work (a third of a second was put into a close up but otherwise everything was pure gold) and some of the most sweeping distance shots ever make the planet seem completely real. Like Cameron took the six year flight there, filmed it and then flew six back to release it here. No it's not as good as Titanic, although the 3D is used better than any other film to date. In consensus it lacks the sheer drama and execution Titanic had. But like i said i sure couldn't do any better. Yeah a better and more original story would have been good but under the circumstances a person can't really complain. Go and see this movie. It is easily my favorite film of the year and one of the best i've ever seen. Expand

However, those alone are completely insignificant. This film is probably one of the best films in a decade or ever. The CGI is beautiful and very well done. The length is what it should be for a film. The story is well told. In short, this is an epic film that is a must-see on EVERYONE'S list. I am surprised this film didn't score 95+ but if you read the critics, their most common criticism is the story being cheesy. Considering it was written 10-15 years ago and that a lot of films have been produced after this (with a lot being absolute rubbish), I'd say it is best to ignore them and see it for yourself in 3D and enjoy this milestone on the history of films. An excellent visual masterpiece that'll keep you wanting more I seriously did not want this movie to end. It has great story, acting, character development, and above all the visuals.

Between the new 3D technology and the touching story it was the most amazing thing I have seen in a long time. I was skeptical at first about the new 3D technology, but the reality is amazing with the 3D. As for the story, some may be upset about the evident moral message. However, if more people thought about the welfare of others and the environment instead of only selfishly about their own interests the world would be a better place. Expand

The movie was simply breathtaking with the work Cameron has done. I, unlike a lot of people, also liked the story that went along with it, and thought it added to the piece. A very good movie overall and the best movie of 2009.

I came in expecting a mediocore CGI orgy on screen but I was actually very surprised. It was actually a great movie and I didn't expect it to be very good in the first place.

Wow. What a spectacle. The CGI characters are just so good, you completely forget that they aren't real. With the love story weaved in, it just soared to one of my top 3 movies ever.

An unparalleled masterpiece. James Cameron has done it again. One of the best if not the best movies of the year. It was long but it never really dragged on. Good solid plot and the visuals were spectacular. Must see in 3D

WOW. First of all, IMAX 3D is the ONLY way to see this, you're letting yourself get robbed otherwise. Secondly, we now live in a post-Avatar world when it comes to movies. Secondly, we now live in a post-Avatar world when it comes to movies. Every director who's name isn't James Cameron is trying not to cry. The plot structure is nothing new, but the way it is applied is as beautiful as the eye-euphoria you will be receiving. And believe me, this 3D is no 4th wall breaking gimmick, you will literally have to remind yourself that you are in fact sitting in a chair at the movies. I can't even explain how amazing the technology is in this movie, all I can say is, you owe it to yourself to go see this in IMAX 3D as soon as possible. Expand

OK, let's save time from aving to endure a boring 5-hour Academy Award TV show that must end predictably. Give "Avatar" the award now because it is plainly the "Best Picture" of 2009. By far.
