River City Girls 2 is a solid beat ’em up on account of both its aesthetic and its gameplay. While it’s hampered by some elements of its combat not being as clear or precise as I’d hoped, the overall atmosphere and experience of playing the game are quite fun.

River City Girls 2 is both good and not-quite-so-good. There is a lot of charm and personality oozing out of the screen as you play, and the way that the dialogue is written and performed is great. The difficulty is real, the slightly jerky animation makes things tricky, and the block is rubbish, but despite this there is a good deal of fun to be had.

But sadly the game itself falls quite short on every other aspect after beating the game. The stylish fighting is still the same, each character feels unique in their movesets but not much was done to innovate. The biggest flaw in my opinion is the lack of unique character interaction, I will not divulge into spoiler territory but marian for example is unlocked later in the game, and since she is new it is only natural you’d want to play her but the game’s narrative takes a very strange turn if you do, where if you start playing as her and she starts talking she talks as if she isn’t marian herself but is a completely different person to the character you just recruited, more or less treating her as if she was kyoko when she is..well..marian..I don’t understand why they chose to tell the story like this but it drastically made my time playing a lot less fun seeing them take a more lazy and convoluted route rather than make the characters they added to the game be unique in their conversations. The problem is that the open world is so bad on this kind of games. We are litteraly walking between zones for 5 min after each missions, plus the low framerate and load screes its so horrible.
You too should focus on the main game and dont make any secondary missions, they are a lose of time to do.
And idk why but we oneshoted the final boss even when we didnt do any secondary mission
