Expressing the details of this game would only lessen the impact it would otherwise have on a first-time player. Imagine it like your favorite, most impactful movie, but every detail is a spoiler.

Don't be put off by its seemingly "simple" or "indie" art style or gameplay. I myself am an action-oriented gamer, specifically FPS games, but I was lucky enough to play this game on a bored whim. I played it blind, and I came out changed.
If you give it a chance, in time, your curiosity will find it charming, the story within compelling, and the experience...beautiful.

This game had something important for me. Let it have something important for you.

"Outer Wilds" is that, but for video games.

There's so much I want to put in this review—and yet, the very nature of the game almost obligates me to reveal nothing. There is something so valuable and meaningful about the first time you play through this game that anything I could reveal to you would only make your experience lesser than it is.

So, this is what I'll say—I put off playing this game for two years, never saw the appeal behind it, thought it looked like a simple, quirky Indie game. By the game's end, I felt emotionally shattered in the best possible way. There is a lesson to be learned from this game in the same way that there are lessons to be learned in all the best stories we hear growing up. Life is inexorable.

No form of media can ever be perfect. But if they're about as close as they can possibly come, then they're worthy of that 10 rating—and damn, if "Outer Wilds" isn't one of the most worthy of them all.

In the simplest of terms: if you wish to know if the game is worth playing, the answer is a resounding yes.
