Jun 5, 2026Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth does justice to its Xbox version, bringing everything we’ve loved about it since its original release while remaining a strong performer to boot.

Jun 3, 2026I had an absolute blast revisiting this game and even did a bit more of the side stuff this time around. The Remake project has improved with each entry so far, and I really hope the final entry will continue this level of excellence. I do hope Square-Enix takes the time to fix this Xbox version though. It is really disappointing to see the state it is currently in. Fix the camera judder and the VRR implementation so we can enjoy the game as it should be. Still, I cannot recommend this game enough, it was my 2024 game of the year, and I am happy it is finally releasing on these two consoles.

Jun 4, 2026Final Fantasy VII Rebirth manages to do something so few games do. It balances the very optional exploration moments with a tight and gripping central narrative. By switching regularly between giving you the freedom of what to do and then bringing you back into a linear direction, I never felt tired of either one, quite the opposite, instead. While the low resolution and sometimes lacklustre combat would drag the game down for me at times, pretty much everything else had me hooked from start to finish. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a game every fan of the franchise, old or new, should at least try, if not outright devour. And be sure to let yourself get lost in this expanded world as you truly soak in and savour all that this game has to offer. You won’t regret it.

Jun 2, 2026Ultimately, the Xbox Series X performs nearly identically to the base PlayStation 5. Both consoles share very similar AMD hardware architectures, and the graphical differences are nigh imperceptible to the naked eye. The fidelity mode runs at 30 fps, which is perfect for screenshots and frameable frames, but there is no denying that fluidity makes Rebirth feel better to play. There are two performance options on Xbox Series X: 60fps “Smooth” and 60fps “Sharp”. Both looked and felt almost the same. There was almost no reason for it at all.
