Just if you are new just give it sometime to get used to it and I promise once you get a hang of the movement’s and fighting controls it’s rewarding. But I have put in over 200 hours in this game and still find new stuff all the time. But this game deserves the praise the best I’ve ever played. Expand

I finally understood the magical game hiding behind the difficulty mask. I was immersed in the breathtaking graphics, the complex lore, and the grinding of armaments. But be warned; and this is a bit of a hot take. The game only starts to be fun after you beat the first story boss. Even though I am very far from completing the game, I can confidently say that I am extremely happy and satisfied with my purchase of Elden Ring Expand

It offers a piece of equipment but then tells you it's not useful in its current form. Young S/W developers with egos try to develop a game that beats the player. 1st review I write here, 1st souls game. This has to be a 10. Even if its not your style of game one has to admire the sheer scope and game design. Finally a recent game respecting your intelligence and time. No bloat, no railed experiences, 70h in and still hungry! Performance would make it a 9.5 but I’m countering the 0s, PLEASE don’t let those reviews fool you, this game is special

There probably is story (probably like it was in Diablo II back than), but I didn’t really need to follow anything, I am just discovering this massive highly occupied world, meeting these unique foes, some of them bosses, some of them over my level - even harder than bosses, so opening this map and going elsewhere discovering something new. Along the journey realising, there were very few games that got stocked in my memories as a such a enjoyment as this one and we are really going to past at start of the 90s.. There is no doubt it is GOTY of 2022, this game right now aspires to be one of the greatest since Diablo II - if you loved that one, this one is must. If You loved Sekiro, this one is must. Revolutionary title, that got far beyond of the competition. We can all speak about Horizon, we all know, that Starfield or God of War probably will be great, but at the same time we know what previous titles from these studios were, gameplay never been the first thing - not in the way predecessors of the Elden Ring were - and gameplay is the thing for me, reason I wanna play. Don’t get me wrong, I love to watch, but I have HBO max, Netflix and etc for this. If we compare this game to Witcher 3, which is another great game, full of cutscenes, first try to openworld and it was just great - I really enjoyed it, but longer I played, interest were lower, story was interesting, but I just got in this feeling that every fight is same, no challange, after 15 hours of play and that is the way Witcher I remember Expand

    A little Sneak:
    gameplay

    The heart at the end.

    a) Territories

I could rave all day about the diversity of the individual areas. There is so much to explore. Caelid, decomposed by rot, Limgrave as an open landscape with many castles and towers, Liurnia with a grandiose academy or the beautiful city of Leyndell. This is just part of the many areas to explore. The areas are a big part of the incessantly generating motivation.

It's unbelievable that Fromsoft managed to establish their level structure, the clear recognition value even in an open world that is so big. Despite the new world, you always feel at home and always try to compare some sections, places, etc. with previous parts or are reminded of them.

The drawn map is a dream. You don't have question marks everywhere, but prominent spots on the map where you decide for yourself: something could be there. From the drawing, there could be something there. Most of the time you are simply rewarded for your curiosity and basically get useful things.

Secret doors, at some point there are a lot of them, are simply part of it and I like this uncertainty that you always have at Fromsoft because you don't want to miss anything. You can always find something somewhere, whether it's backtracking or unlocking a shortcut. The top of it is that in the last few hours I've discovered so many more areas and because of that I've been able to kill a lot of bosses. Not only the boss kill but also finding an area gives you so much joy at Fromsoft.

    b) bosses

Big or small, optional or story boss, I thought so many were terrific. Radahn, Malenia, just to name two really great fights, show what boss gameplay can do. I especially liked Malenia, who couldn't supplant my favorite boss, Sister Friede. Although it is now the undisputed boss with the most tries for me, that never spoiled the fight for me.

I also liked the multitude of optional bosses. But the recycling bothered me a bit, especially e.g. the black cavalry riders, who were always ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL, was much too easy for me. The bosses, which then turn into trash mobs, are terrific and typically fromsoft, and they often made me sweat.

The game is also getting more and more difficult, especially the last three areas are really tough. The game also gives you various options to act with different bosses (e.g. Mohg).

Ultimately, the fat bosses also give you armor or weapons, and here too you have to make decisions and choose carefully.

    c) fight

Whether magician, two-handed warrior or double katana samurai. There is so much possibility to change your character in Elden Ring, even during the game. I played with katanas for a long time, but also tried different weapons again and again. Later I even trained in faith and prepared myself with invocations before every fight. Halberds, fist weapons, daggers, swords, shields, bows, whips and much more. The Elden Ring arsenal is vast and only a small part of the greater whole. All weapons can be enhanced in various ways. Frost & Bleed? YES. Fire? YES flash? YES. Elden Ring gives you a kit and you can totally lose yourself in it in a positive way.

Talismans replace the rings and only expand the hero's repertoire even more. There are also consumables and a crafting system. Especially the crafting shows Fromsoft's strength: If you read through here, if you look for the books together, then you will be given really important and good opportunities to strengthen your character. Gathering resources was never annoying, just well integrated. Each resource has its own look and at some point you also know what the item is that you collected there. It's not one size fits all, it doesn't all look the same.

In addition to the possibility of PvE co-op NPCs or online partners, you can also summon different spirits. A great feature, but I only used it more often when clearing warehouses. For almost all bosses I personally left them out. Among them there are also really cool items with great figures.

I finally used PvP and co-op a lot. I've helped people with Mohg so much because there were just so many runes for it, which gave me the opportunity to buy a lot of crafting stones to try out more weapons. PvP went much better than in the other parts (fewer lagging opponents) but there are already a lot of brutally strong meta builds here.

I played with bleeding a lot.

    Conclusion

10/10 ELDEN LORDS. I love the game and it has climbed the Fromsoft throne for me. My beloved Dark Souls III has been supplanted and in my eyes it deserves Elden Ring. I had 107 hours (+15 with my magician) of constant fun, going through a lot of emotions and just a really good experience.

This is my first FromSoftware game so take it from someone who's not a FanBoy, I mean I've been wanting to play Dark Souls for the longest time but never got around to actually picking one up. But after playing Elden Ring for the first time, maybe I'll try FromSoftware other games.

The exploration is fun and big.
The art work and the graphics are awesome. Especially playing this on an Xbox Series S.
The storyline makes you want to play more.
And the best part, the rewards you get for defeating a boss, after being defeated over 100 times.

Yes there are some little frame drops here and there, to be honest I hardly notice them that much.
And yes the bosses are ridiculously difficult, but that is what to be expected from FromSoftware games. But they give you the option to always run away, level up and fight the bosses again.

This game easily is a 10/10 for me and I have to say it feels like the game of the year. Without a doubt this game is worth buying.

I’ve rescued the Milky way from fearsome reapers, liberated the nuclear wasteland, stolen thousands of cars, liberated tropical islands, won countless Stanley cups and to boot l, a few world cups. I’ve planned and built cities and I’ve protected man kind in the name if our God emperor! Ive played over 200 hours of Elden ring on my Series X , not nearly as many as I’ve spent on Dark souls one, two or three. But i predict this game will be one of the greats. One of those you keep coming back to. I truly have loved every moment of it. The open world keeps distracting you, leading you astray from your true quest. Visually stunning vistas and alluring lore that keeps you hooked on lorevids on Youtube is accompanied by stellar fighting mechanics and that ever present feeling of joy and fear at the same time. You know the one, where you never know whats next on the epic journey. Bossfights in line with what we’ve come to expect when it comes to FROM, secret and rare items, dragons, fire, magic, stellar soundtrack and of course..Patches!
This game has earned a spot in my all time top ten of games. It is a few patches from top five. (Software updates, that is ;). )

Those From Software “lifehacks” gone too far – now You’re not even forced to talk to NPC, to get a map icon info who he is…for example it completely ruined first encounter with Blaidd.
Game is vast and You’re hyped at the beginning – first area (Limgrave) has the best environmental structure (dragon, dungeons, mini-boss, big cart, camp).
Landscape is immersive and for the moment I was feeling epic adventure vibe.
Sadly, this bait for beta access reviewers is going down very fast – too big and empty, stretched without common sense, not rewarding for your time invested…
Dragons are too easy, quests are too complicated for open world, crafting unnecessary (you can’t craft weapons nor armors), legendary weapons are easier to upgrade than normal, dungeons too small, framerate at 35-50 fps, pop-in everywhere, unbalanced weapons (colossal zweihander damage and stagger equal to claymore…), etc…
    After 150 hours I’m bored. It’s a promise unfullfiled.
Elden Ring is very overrated and not a masterpiece.
From Software – You can’t put souls series into mainstream.
You sell 12M copies but people are angry and this 7,5 Metacritic rating is VERY accurate.

With this open world concept, the entire "souls" genre changes, leaving the difficulty scaling up to the players. You can try to tackle the bosses head on, doing the old school masochist style marathon to the final boss, or you can run around and explore, expand your arsenal with weapons and spells and even level up as you please, before returning to the "now very easy" headaches known as bosses.

Despite some annoying performance issues, Elden Ring is a masterpiece. The combat, enemy variety, exploration, music, and open world are top notch. I’ve been playing it daily across all platforms alongside other games all month, and look forward to doing that all year as I try new builds, help friends, and try to do everything I want in this triumph of a video game.

Elden Ring rewards your curiosity in many ways, be it items, runes or a pathway to another area, but mostly it’s a story to tell your friends when you are sharing tales around the bonfire. It does not force feed tutorials down your throat, but instead it leans far the opposite way by not telling you much at all and lets you explore and find things out on your own. There is no true quest log, no points of interest on a map or no arrows pointing you in the right direction, so there is a good chance you’ll miss some of the best caves and areas of the game. Because of all of this, Elden Ring is forcing me to find all of that out on my own and it is one of the most rewarding games I have ever played. I will continue to explore the Land Between for many hours to come. I’m just not in a hurry.

Elden Ring manages to draw the player into a fascinating world for many hours, with refined gameplay that fits perfectly with the freedom granted to the player. A sumptuous but imperfect work, which fails to completely overcome some of the historical flaws of Hidetaka Miyazaki's productions. Flaws that, however, can't diminish the scope of a masterpiece destined to leave an indelible mark on the videogame world and to set new standards for the souls-like and open-world genres.
