    I'm going to review each campaign, then I'll review the multiplayer, and lastly I'll go over glitches, crashes, and bugs. You should note that Microsoft's PR team is responsible for the higher than average User Score ratings on all Microsoft games. It costs them very little to create multiple Metacritic accounts just to boost ratings.

    The Halo 1 campaign left me feeling bitter. They    I'm going to review each campaign, then I'll review the multiplayer, and lastly I'll go over glitches, crashes, and bugs.     The Halo 1 campaign left me feeling bitter. They hardly did anything at all to it. Visually, it looks like a very old Xbox 360 game, not what you'd expect for an Xbox One game at all.

    The Halo 2 campaign was great. The cut scenes were magnificent, and very well done, particularly the Gravemind cut scene. Unfortunately the rest of the gameplay wasn't what you would expect for a remastered game on the Xbox One, but the cut scenes made up for it.

    Halo 3 campaign was just a slap in the face. They did absolutely nothing to it. Halo 3 came out 7 years ago. Why on earth did Microsoft think they'd be able to get away without retouching this game? I found myself feeling so disinterested, especially after playing the touched up Halo 2.

    Halo 4, this is where 343 took over the franchise. I had never played Halo 4 before, but when I played this game, I could hardly believe this was originally an Xbox 360 game. Sure, there were some frame-rate issues, but that didn't take away from the game. Loads of new vehicles and weapons had me feeling excited the whole way through.

    Multiplayer never worked, and still doesn't work. It'll take ages to matchmake, just to put you in terrible games (like 2v2, or 5v3). 90% of the time it will just kick you anyway, and I have great internet, so it's not on my end.

    This game was infected with glitches. Hard crashes would cause you to restart the game. You'd see weapons spinning in circles on a wall (minor). Save files would get wiped out and you'd need to restart certain missions. This just to name a few.

    My conclusion is, don't buy this game if you're strapped for cash. There are better games on the market, and there are even better games coming to market. This is a console exclusive, designed to compete with PS4 console exclusives like Uncharted 4, The Last Of Us, and Order Of 1886. I can definitely tell you that Titanfall, Forza, and Halo do not compete well with PS4. Microsoft didn't step up, they didn't do their job, and I wish I bought a PS4.    … Expand

    Complete and utter failure. Game is broken and unplayable. The matchmaking is not what we've become accustomed to with what we had in Halo games by Bungie. 343i is a disgrace.

    I am writing this review 10 days after launch. Since release, I have only been able to connect to 5 games in multiplayer. I am a huge Halo fan. I gave them plenty of time to resolve problems. A new patch came out today with no effect. I can't express my disappointment with my wallet since I did a digital download, so I'm expressing it here in hopes you won't waste YOUR money. EvenI am writing this review 10 days after launch. Since release, I have only been able to connect to 5 games in multiplayer. I am a huge Halo fan. I gave them plenty of time to resolve problems.     Their response, "We are aware that there are some problems with multiplayer"... Some problems??? you cant load your friends, you can barely get party chat going, if you get a game every 20 to 35 minutes that's a big day. Hopefully you don't work and neither do your friends so you have all day to get a few games in... All I can say is Master Chief would be ashamed. A true icon and legend of the gaming world and the dynasty has been destroyed.

    I was nearing the final few levels of the Halo 2 campaign now my data has completely been wiped and I have to start all over again.

    Guess what!?!?! The ranking system is like Halo 2/3 in which you can get to 50. Sounds awesome right! You're still terribly wrong. Even if you're level 50, you can match level 1s and 5s all day. Essentially, you can match anyone searching in a ranked match, even if they are nowhere near your level. Why even have a ranking system? Again super frustrating.

    Even if you try and go into a ranked game with a team of four (which is almost impossible as the game will barely let you get 4 people in a lobby and search without multiple errors occurring), the game will split you and your team up, or you'll never be able to find a game. If you go in with less than four, chances are your teammates will quit to level up and you'll be stuck in a 2v5.

    The list goes on and on with this game. It's atrocious and a poor excuse for something that had so much hype. 343 should be ashamed with the product they put out.

    Bought this game primarily for the multiplayer. Matchmaking is a disaster, at BEST it takes 5 minutes to join a game, up to 30 minutes, averaging about 10-15. Plus the UI is buggy as hell. This game clearly wasn't ready for release and it feels like MS is just milking the fans at this point.

    6 months in, still not on dedicated servers.

    For many that was a BIG SELLING point.

    For others, it was just a Betrayal. Which, coincidentally, seems to have sped up the Halo 5 respawn timer, which it clearly should have delayed the respawn of another Halo title. It's little inaccuracies like these that make me think they don't play a lot of Halo.

    absolutely awful. the game's multiplayer lags and I can't find a match. Also, this game is outdated, and not in a "final fantasy 7 outdated good". It's just no longer fun. Maybe I've matured too much. Very bad.

    6 years later and the game still barely functions on Xbox with no improvements on the PC release, only more game breaking issues. Terrible ports to both the Xbox One and PC. 343 Industries has proven time and time again that they do not care about Halo or its fans. There is no love from the Halo community towards 343 as a company or the designers and developers they employ.

    These games belong to the years they been released. Despite higher resolution, still the same shooter and general look&feel. If you have nostalgia then you might like those. Otherwise, not a 2020 game by any mean, period.

This is probably the worst launch I've ever seen of a video game. The multiplayer is just a complete mess and hardly works most of the time.     10's on this game are unacceptable. I don't care how much of a nostalgia boner it gives you. Multiplayer literally does not work, and its been three days. This is unacceptable as I have been able to get into a match for that time. Just ended up selling it and getting CoD:AW but it looks like its having similar issues.

    Online multiplayer still doesn't work over a week later and now the patch that will "fix" the problem has been delayed. That should be in there top priority list of things that need to work when the game launch's. Even then it should have been fixed within 24 hours, but now I have a feeling that it's going to take a long time until multiplayer works like it should.

    All they had to do is port pre-existing games that they didn't even make! Almost zero work was required on their part and they still managed to mess that up. This isn't an issue of bad launch servers, this is the result of laziness. Unfortunately the bugs are so baked in that it will likely never function as it should.

    Multiplayer does not work whatsoever, so avoid if you're looking for that til they fix it. It was also quite annoying to see Halo 3 dead last in the installation priority, even though all 4 other games were dling at the same time.

    The online mode just does not work! And only hear excuses from developer! So far, I have not been able to play an online game even! I do not advise buying this game. Not until the developer fix this serious problem!

Normally Microsoft doesn’t provide refunds on digitally purchased games but since this game is so blatantly broken, they have no choice but to provide a full refund. Simply contact Xbox live support. I will consider repurchasing this game in    Return for full refund. (Even the digital version)

    I can now see why TLOU: Remastered received a much higher score than the Halo: Master Chief Collection on Metacritic.

    Quality over quantity. Then again, TLOU has plenty of content as well. Halo is just too outdated in this day and age. Let Halo 5 be the sand to cover up the grave that is Halo.

    Most frustrating gaming experience ever. Took forever to install. Many of the original mechanics are broken such as crouch jumping in halo 1. Matchmaking just doesn't work. Can't they figure this out with a closed beta??

    In it's current state the game is highly unplayable if you care at all about online multiplayer. Even if you just want to do co op campaign with a friend I have bad news for you. Halo 1 and 2 co op has about 1 second of input delay for whoever isn't host. With Halo 3 the lag and framerate is just unbearable. Halo really deserves better than this.

    The online for this game is broken, which is the main feature in a Halo series. 343 has so much to do that I wouldn't even know where to begin. Will change the score when they fix this broke garbage

    The campaign mode works for the most part.
    The multiplayer is completely destroyed.
    You can't play with friends at all.
    Even if you're playing on the same TV, you'll end up on opposite teams.
    If you can get a game in the first place.
    The Halo series has been my favorite set of games.
    I'm very sad to see 343 ruin it.

    I have been a Halo fan for a long time and this game is a HUGE disappointment. I'm pissed at the $65.00 I spent on a game that doesn't have a functioning matchmaking system. Worst part, they added SWAT and now matchmaking freezes everything. How about you not add new features until you fix the one you have?!?!? **** you HALO!

    Never played Halo online before. Only played the original Halo years ago in single player. Bought it day one because CoD was awful this year and I wanted a FPS to play. I was able to get into one room where the game was hacked (one team had something like 50 kills, the other team had 0, and they took no damage). Couldn't get in to another game.     Ranking is useless. Either you're playing 2vs5 because the game's not able to balance teams or your teammates quit right away, or you play with people who probably do only like holding a controller because this is their definition of fun. However, this is not the only problem with the game.

    The reskin of Halo 1 and 2 are nice but they're still pretty ugly games. Age always shows a lot more on 3D games and these are no exception. 60fps isn't even stable in any of the games but 4. I think this is an engine limitation more than anything but it really stands out when you're playing game with obviously low hardware demands on a modern console and you get frame dips.

    Campaigns aren't that well made. Overall this game hasn't aged well. Hit detection is wonky. Level design is dull. Maybe part of me is just worn out because I played a lot of Halo 1 and Halo 2 when they were new, and this is really just a reskin and repackaging of those bundled with 3 and 4, but nothing feels fun here. It's all "Ah yeah, I remember when games played like this, we've come so far... wait they re-released it like this?"

    Multiplayer is really weak compared to a lot of online experiences I've had since Halo as well. It revolutionized the console shooter but its heyday is long over. Not worth anyone's time.    … Expand

The multiplayer is so bad that you will be shocked in disbelief that such a huge franchise coming from Microsoft and with so much money pumped into it fails on a level never even dreamed by the most crappy early access game on Steam. I was playing a two player coop campaign on a game that is 8 YEARS OLD and the lag choke where making the game frame rate drop to the range of 4fps, stall and even kick out the invited player. After an hour of trying, we stopped and got Destiny. Not a simple glitch or network issue. For as much hate that Destiny got, it is truly an amazing game compared to the Master Chief Collection disaster.… Expand

    Incredibly overrated. This game sucks so bad because I want to like it so badly and I just cannot. The lore and story line are some of the best today, but the controls and redundant crap is what makes this game so damn boring!

    As a Single player Story game Halo has to be one of the worst if not the worst gaming franchises I have ever played in my 29 years of gaming. KILLZONE games S*** all over this franchise

    Insultingly bad port. Good, classic games ruined by god-awful net code and games as a service management. No support from the devs whatsoever, bugs from release still affecting players. Just an incredibly poor excuse of a video game
