    Excellent game if you just want to play the Halo back catalogue, unfortunately multiplayer was lacking until recently and it will turn into a ghost town now Infinite is out.

    Lets discuss this game. Its halo, 4 games in 1 so for 40 bucks its pretty worth it. If you love the single player go for it its actually a really good remake of halo 2. And the other 3 look really good in 1080p. If your only getting it for the single player please get it. If your getting it for the online dont. on release it didnt work fully now no one really plays. But you know what iLets discuss this game. Its halo, 4 games in 1 so for 40 bucks its pretty worth it. If you love the single player go for it its actually a really good remake of halo 2.     The problems with multiplayer definitely hurt this game and left me a little bitter towards it, but at least the re-released campaigns made it worth the purchase.

    If you love Halo for its single player, don't think twice: it's an amazing deal, and Halo 2 Anniversary looks stunningly beautiful. Everything running in 1080p/60fps glory - even though I should note that framerate drops can be experienced every once in a while. Not game-breaking though.

    Now, if you love Halo for its multiplayer, be ready to be disappointed. 343 fixed a few issues, and    If you love Halo for its single player, don't think twice: it's an amazing deal, and Halo 2 Anniversary looks stunningly beautiful.     Halo Master Chief collection was a big point for me when i bought my xbox one. If you loved playing the original games (or in my case 1-3) you will love this game as it brings back so much memories and for me one of the best storyline in games during the campaign mode and some of the remastered work done is awesome.

    As a lot of people have stated the matchmaking has to be fixed as you can be waiting a long time to find a game. Also i have experienced a drop in FPS a couple of times (but this happens on most games at some point). And the game does take a lot of space on your hard drive.

    To sum the game in my opinion if you are happy to play a game with a good campaign buy this game. If you were more into the multiplayer side of the game you would be better waiting until the issues are solved.    … Expand

    You know what you are getting gameplay wise with this collection. I am not the biggest halo fan (i'd played one and two prior to this, enjoyed one but felt two was a let down) but this package is still great and the games work better when you can play them back to back (they aren't that long). The updated visuals look good enough.

    The Halo series looks pretty good remastered, and its nice being able to collect achievements for the original xbox games. I don't know about ODST however, being required to purchase the game as extra DLC content when it feels like it should have came with the series. Its a total crap ripoff from the series with different characters.     If you like the Halo Series this is a must own. How can you argue with all the Halo games in one spot? I’m rating this at 7.5 strictly because of the multiplayer being super slow at matchmaking right now.

It was irresponsible on 343's part not to get these launch bugs out of the way with closed beta testing, two days in and its still broken.

    Had to drop my review to a 7 because of how utterly broken matchmaking and even connecting with friends still happens to be. A full week and a half in and it takes me 20 minutes and 2 game restarts to even join my friend. Unacceptable. Not to mention several achievements still unable to unlock. Campaign is amazing though.

    First the pros: a lot of content, four games in one; nice sound effects and new graphics.
    The bad: the 3 first halos are really, really dated; halo 4 is quite repetitive; multiplayer fails a lot, and even when it works is not so good ( i prefer the multiplayer of titanfall or last of us).

    Big download, slow matchmaking that takes forever also the update on November 20 didn`t fix that crap also that patch for the matchmaking is delayed, but if you do get in a game it`s awesome the grapics the gamplay everything also it feels even better when play because you waited so much

    Halo: The Master Chief Collection in my opinion is perfect when it comes to game play, but the problem is the Broken Multi-Player at launch. I'm part of the few who plays Halo for Story of the Multi-Player so from that standpoint I would give it a 9 but that problem with the online means it only deserves a 7.

    The way the game launched was terrible, and is a disgrace.

    But besides that, a great package. It let's you play every Halo game (almost), and how can one not enjoy that?

    Good game! Nice coop and multiplayer. 4 in one! The only bad sides are that matchmaking sucks sometimes and campaign saves can fail you. Over all its an ok-good game.

    While the multiplayer component is still rather broken, it certainly does impress me to see the full Halo campaign remastered in one package and at a good price.

    Is nobody disappointed by the amount of bugs in all of the games and how much more buggy the games have gotten. Also why doesn't 343 put in content from the newer games into the old ones. I just don't understand why they give the same game with basically the same content. If modders could bring new content to Halo CE they can to.

After the third attempt, I gave up, and calculated that I had spend five hours on the mission with nothing to show for it. This broke the game for me and I will not play it again until these issues are panned out by 343. I am disappointed with this ambitious project, but I see the potential that exists.… Expand

It got a lot of flak at launch for the many bugs and matchmaking issues, and while the bugs have been fixed, and the matchmaking issues are a lot better. But multiplayer isn't the only part of this game. It also includes fantastic single player and split screen content, and there is a lot of it. The single player has great story,This game is excellent. Definitely worth 60 dollars. The one complaint I have is that in halo 3, the graphics are dated, and i know, graphics aren't everything, but it is a bit of a jump going from the gorgeous graphics of halo 2 anniversary to Halo 3. But Halo 3 does have, in my opinion, the best campaign.

    The point is, the multiplayer doesn't destroy the experience. IGNORE ALL OF THE 0/10s. It has great split screen gameplay, and outstanding campaign.    … Expand

    I've been playing MCC for about 20 hours and am nearly finished Halo 4. The high definition updates to Halos 1, 2 are worth the price of admission. Oddly, and this is the reason I am mixed on the package is that Halo 3 did not receive any of the updates the prior two games got.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. as much as i loved the halo universe.... i cant give this anything higher then a 7....
    Pros: 4 GAMES..... FOUR GAMES...... you get every single map in all of the 4 games on a single CD and you can forge them all... i havent heard of any map pack DLC.... i do appreciate the storyline of every single halo up to HALO 4.... but at that point they screwed up...... i wont spoil it....
    cons: matchmaking is no longer about skill...... it is all about who is better to manipulate the lag, and who can use the Battle rifle better..... i havent been in a single game where the BR wasnt a mandatory choice...... then i will be playing and standing on my own little corner..... when i get head shot from NOWHERE.... i've saved the video and sent it to bungie and 343.... so i hope they will get on it and fix it......
    the infected isnt anything we are used to.... they removed the possibility of our creating our own epic infection maps...
    neutral: i havent actually gotten to play any of the campaigns yet, so i cant say anything about them, i didnt really use the forge system except to try to remake my favorite map on HALO 3, called "castle in the sky" infection... which failed horribly...... if they fix any of these issues in HALO 5 i will be relieved....

    halo was the game that got me in love with XBOX, and personally... the master chief collection combined with HALO 4, has made me seriously question my affection with both xbox AND halo....    … Expand

The Halo 2 Anniversary is especially good, switching between the classic graphics and the updated graphics goes to show how far we have come (the only issue I'd have is the jump between Halo 2A's visual fidelity and Halo 3 was a bit stark, but that's not an issue with the game, just my opinion)

    The multiplayer experience, however, is something quite different. When it works, it is great, probably my favourite multiplayer FPS. When it doesn't work, which is at least 25% of the time in my experience in June 2015, is terrible. I can go into a playlist and have to wait 10-15 minutes for matchmaking to succeed. For any game this is bad, let alone a triple A game such as Halo.

    Before the multiple fixes were distributed, I would have given the game a 4. Now, the multiplayer is better, but still broken. Therefore I can only give the game a 7. Hopefully all these reviews will push 343i to make sure the multiplayer experience for Halo 5: Guardians is much, much better.    … Expand

    When I had Xbox I had Halo.

    I like this game.

    Halo 2 only for Xbox.

    Halo 3 & 4 for Xbox 360.

    Good value for money but unless your a Halo fan there is nothing really new here to bring in any new players. Halo has always been very repetitive and interest can be lost fast. Worth a look if you have people to play it with.

With a ton of content, the new gorgeous Halo 2 remaster and excellent gameplay Microsoft had an incredible game that should have been an easy win for Xbox, however the game was ruined by awful servers which Microsoft took years to fix, years too late. The problem is MCC takes away many features from the individual games and adds problems (mostly multiplayer orientated). For example, the aim assist is way too strong in MCC which lowers the skill gap tremendously and can lead to a lot of trades and unfair gunfightsIn terms of value, MCC is unbeaten as you get access to multiple masterpieces both in terms of campaigns and multiplayers. For example, the aim assist is way too strong in MCC which lowers the skill gap tremendously and can lead to a lot of trades and unfair gunfights when its controller vs mnk. Another issue is the MCC progression system, the level system is so boring it hurts and gives you no incentive to level up besides a slightly different icon instead of having unique levels like reach and 3 which help you to unlock new armor and stand out. Also, the way to unlock armor is as boring as it gets with a battle pass style system where you just unlock things in a set order pretty much instead of the reach style where you save up credits and level up so when people have rare items they are unique but in mcc everyone has these items. 343 Also decided to get rid of map voting/veto which sucks. Overall, for me at least multiplayer is not as fun as it was back in the day.
    Another HUGE problem is co-op campaign, if you dont host you will have a lot of input lag and delay for some reason which makes it very annoying to play, this is the worst on halo 2 where the lobby will crash all of the time forcing you to restart the mission. The original games didnt have these problems.
    I love the Halo franchise and MCC is great for allowing people to play all of the older games but the multiplayer is a huge downgrade from the original and the campaigns can be unplayable in co-op. :(    … Expand

    I'm not sure why the user score is so high. The only thing that works is the campaigns at the moment. It should be the best deal on xb1 but the multiplayer is almost completely broken. Wait until it's fixed

    I always heard how great halo multiplayer was and never had the chance to experience any of the halo games myself (always had a playstation). So i was excited to see this tittle released.

    Unfortunatly the multiplayer is broken so im dissapointed but im also not sure how this kind of oversight happened. Im also confused why i cannot select a game mode in multiplayer.     Unfortunatly the multiplayer is broken so im dissapointed but im also not sure how this kind of oversight happened. Im also confused why i cannot select a game mode in multiplayer. If i want to play Capture the flag then i have to hope the playlist hits that game type eventually.

    Ill stick with the campaign but why release a game that is essentially 50%? I would have happily waited another 3 months for a game that worked. I think the key is that another halo is in production. So most of the team is working on that game while this one is simply to generate sales and interest in that game.

    Sometime soon i hope, this game will be what i was waiting for. A chance to play through all those multiplayer experiences I missed while playing call of duty on PS3. But i guess for now ill have to wait.    … Expand

    I overall enjoyed replaying the campaigns of the first three Halo games.(Halo 4 is a very poor game overall). The games do show there age but are still enjoyable to replay once again and it is amazing to see the cut scenes overhauled for Halo 2. The games do show some flaws that were not fixed for being redone but can be overlooked but some things that can not be over looked is that theI overall enjoyed replaying the campaigns of the first three Halo games.(Halo 4 is a very poor game overall). The weapons are extremely unbalanced, the loading times for matching are extremely long as well, the spawning system is broken where it will spawn extremely close to an enemy. The ranking system is not logical. Overall do not buy the game for multiplayer. Buy it for the campaigns to revisit old memories of the old games.… Expand

You get the full campaigns of Halos 1,2,3, and 4 obviously, but you also get that boost of nostalgia when you go back to the original Halos and kick some ass like you probably did over 10 years ago. But, if you were like me and started playing Halo recently, you also get the chance to go back and seeThe Master Chief Collection is a Halo lover's dream...as long as you like the campaigns. You get the full campaigns of Halos 1,2,3, and 4 obviously, but you also get that boost of nostalgia when you go back to the original Halos and kick some ass like you probably did over 10 years ago. But, if you were like me and started playing Halo recently, you also get the chance to go back and see where it all started, and while they're not great, they're still pretty good. You can also get a friend and play co-op campaign and bond over killing an alien race.

    However, that's just the campaigns...the multiplayer is what brings this game down from a potentially 9 or 10, to a 6. It's not horrible and you might be able to find a game (eventually), this game is another one of those early-rushed games that went out way too early with too many multiplayer issues to consider even good. I went into a multiplayer lobby with a timer and it literally took 25 minutes to find a game...I'll let that speak for itself.

    If it's on sale or something I'd say buy it but overall I'd only suggest it right now if you want to go back to the single-player experience.    … Expand

    The campaign is good fun but when i play with my friend not far away we CONSTANTLY HAVE PROBLEMS! we both have brilliant internet connections but every single time we play we spend an hour on loading screens and give up.

    Personal belief: this was my first halo game, so i am a noob. i found it constantly hard to feel like i was contributing to my team when playing online because i struggle to understand somethings that are very irritating.
    Example: sometimes im constantly shooting at someone WITH ACCURACY, they take two shots at me and im dead.

    I personally couldn't wait for this game, but as a noob at halo i found it very hard to play online and certain things also baffled me how unfair it sometimes feels. It made me feel completely useless... i have raged quit soooo many times with this game

    The campaigns are fun when they work, but co op online with a friend seemed to be a struggle for Halo 2 especially, this being because of the graphics

The game itself is really a nostalgia trip, some of the campaigns have not aged well at all and are quite lacklustre by today's standards. The presentation upgrades are pretty standard, halo 1 and 2 have had the most substantial upgrade with higher resolution textures and running overall at higher resolutions, however I could tell straight away that halo 2 was not full hd and I was a little disappointed by the muddy and overall clarity of the graphics, however the sound is excellent and the soundtracks are some of the best I have heard in a game. Now the multiplayer...not a fan, the shooting mechanics are stiff and outdated but all the halo fans insist they want it untouched but after playing the halo 4 beta it seems they have finally done right thing and stopped listening to all the nostalgic fans. If you haven't played a lot of halo multiplayer in the past expect a complete grind of an experience I recommend just playing the campaign modes and find another multiplayer shooter.… Expand

I enjoyed the Halo 2 remaster and on its own for a reasonable price I'd have given it a 9. Halo C.E.A STILL has input lag with the **** synchronous netcode making co-op STILL unplayable. The nightfall series that comes with the game looks like a **** youtube series edited by amateurs. All in all, I give this bundle a 3/10. But I was still able to enjoy the Halo 2A graphics, blur cutscenes, and its story, which brings it up to a 5. Not proud of you 343.… Expand

When you CAN get into a game, if you've the patience to sit in a lobby for literally 10 minutes, it's great fun. In a span of 4 hours the game has crashed 4 times, locked up my Xbox twice, it takes 10 to 30 minutes to find a single match. In a 4 hour period i only found 6 games.     At Launch, this will be constant frustration for mutiplayer, but i would assume they will work quickly to fix these issues, still a Launch of a game is the most important time and to have microsoft backing you with server support and to still have these issues...Its a bit of a disgrace.    … Expand

    The game has a large number of issues that you may or may not have experienced.
    Achievements - When I was playing thru the campaign of Halo one, for the first three levels I received the proper achievements. the game saved my progress. after the third mission I stopped getting achievements. after mission 6 I tried to bring up snap the achievements up. they would not load. I saved and exited the game and went back to it after an hour or so and discovered that none of my progress saved. looking on the mission select screen it also said I completed missions I had not yet done and had not completed missions I had done.

    I still could not access my achievements for this game or in general. just a message saying "something went wrong". I could not get achievements or look at achievement fora number of hours. After trying many other games and trying to access my achievements I was able to get them fixed eventually. But the MCC not only broke them for itself but all my other games as well for a number of hours. Did not track progress properly and did not save properly. The game not saving progress properly is not that big of a deal since you can select any mission on any game to play.

    Also I had the Halo channel app install but none of the terminals videos would play, they would just show the halo channel application load, welcome me back and then show me a black screen until I exited the application and went back to the MCC game. Un-paused and continue to play. (I was happy that the game automatically paused for me, As I was half expecting it to have continued to play with out me)

    I also tried to play multiplayer and see the redone halo 2 maps, after 20 minutes of not finding a game or any players, I gave up and played a halo 4 multiplayer game. I find it hard to believe that I was the only person in western Canada/USA that wanted to play the new remade maps in the middle of the evening. I also found the way the lay out of the various menus for multi-player to be really odd and not user friendly.

    Due to all of the problems I had plus all of the problems I have heard other people having I have to rate this game a 5/10. Hopefully they can patch some fixes to make this the 10/10 it should have been.    … Expand

The other half of the time when i make it into a game, its always full of latency, lagging around the map, connection dropping out and being kicked etc. But the bugs and such don't stop there, the campaign in full of glitches, enemies de-spawn, objects pop in and out of the game, rendering issues, frame-rate drops and stuttering. Although i had a great time playing through the games my experience was somewhat ruined by the constant bugs that made themselves present throughout. There is a lot wrong with this game, but also a lot right with it too, a must have for any fan of the franchise, but beware of the bugs, if you plan on buying for mainly the multiplayer i would suggest you wait a few days at least until the servers are fixed and the bugs are patched.… Expand

If you're buying for multiplayer, I urge you to wait until it's fixed. Multiplayer is probably the most unacceptable gaming experience I've ever witnessed. I genuinely would give this game a 10/10 but since it's broken and only half the experience it should be,This game is fantastic but destroyed by a broken multiplayer. If you're buying for the single player campaign, you can't go wrong. If you're buying for multiplayer, I urge you to wait until it's fixed. I never have framerate issues, and in Halo 3 and Halo 4 I maintain 60 fps. Halo 2 Anniversary is beautiful, and the cutscenes are the pinnacle of the remastery in this game.    I'll talk about the good news before the bad news.

    As a die-hard Halo fan, I can't be upset by what is offered in the campaign. Compared with other features (which I shall discuss later), the campaign is great. I never have framerate issues, and in Halo 3 and Halo 4 I maintain 60 fps. Halo 2 Anniversary is beautiful, and the cutscenes are the pinnacle of the remastery in this game. Forge mode offers some interesting additions, including scripting and terrain forge. The player customization, including nameplates and avatars, is also a good addition, and I hope it is reincorporated into Halo 5: Guardians.

    However, this game has some major, and I mean MAJOR, setbacks. The one that most have heard about is the matchmaking issues, which were intense at launch. I ended up buying the game a week after release (for the full 60 dollar price tag, I mind you), and matchmaking times were sill ridiculous. The only playlist that still has ranking to this date is Halo 2 Anniversary, and oddly that is the one where I encounter the most trouble. Fortunately, it seems that 343i has fixed the crashing issues in campaign and custom games, but as the matchmaking remains slow and unbalanced, I refuse to play it. On a different note, Forge features that once required use of the pause menu to change them are now non-functional. For example, this means that trait zones do nothing, and you can no longer make Grifball or any gametype-specific map in Halo 3. Honestly, while the campaigns are nice at 1080p and 60 fps, the online multiplayer is near broken and it seems like it was just a quick rush to test out the Xbox One's hardware with little regards to feature functionality.    … Expand

    I have to be honest here, after 4 months, the game is still unplayable online, too bad it got overrated like it always did, to me this game deserves a 5, why? the game has a very bad online matchmaking that will keep you wait more than you actually play, I thought "the cloud" and the dedicated servers was something they did advertise with the Halo collection, it was all bullsh!t.

    MULTIPLAYER: 0 out of 5. If you are buying the game for the multiplayer, you could either be completely satisfied or completely frustrated, with no way to tell in advance which it will be. Some players report good experiences in matchmaking; others (like myself) awful experiences. The primary multiplayer issues are:

    1. Inexplicable lack of dedicated servers (almost all games I play are P2P) even in North America. This is not consistent across the board, as some users report good connectivity with dedicated servers.

    2. Long matchmaking times. Again, inconsistent between users. Some get matches in 1-2 minutes. Some (like me) spend more time waiting than playing.

    3. Crashes / freezes upon getting matches, usually during initial load.

    4. Game ending early inexplicably.

    5. Uneven matches (games starting as 4v2 in a 3v3 list; even odd pairings like 6v3 in an 8-player max list)

    6. Cannot find games in certain playlists. Of the 11 playlists, I personally cannot get a match in 6 of them no matter how long I wait. Other players get matches in them right away. 343i has not provided any explanation why different users - geographically co-located - would have such divergent experiences.

    7. Horrific skill matching. 343i has not provided any explanation for this, either - but across the board, skill matching during the matchmaking process is utterly broken.

    8. Inability to search with a party. Though some players report this is not an issue, most players who attempt to search with a party report long matchmaking times. Additionally, keeping a party together between matches is difficult, and when a match is found, sometimes some members of the party are placed on the opposing team.

    Short summary: If you are interested in replaying campaigns on the Xbox One, this is worth the money. Most of the significant campaign bugs have been patched, and the few that remain are typical of any game. If you are interested in multiplayer (like me), watch out. While it MAY work for you, it also may not. The numerous problems, delayed patches, and lack of communication from 343i and Microsoft are quite frustrating.

However, with regard to the main reason I purchased this game, the multiplayer, I was severely disappointed. I am competitive gamer, meaning, I derive gaming pleasure from a ranked multiplayer experience. At the time I was playing from February to April, there was only    Multiplayer:

However, with regard to the main reason I purchased this game, the multiplayer, I was severely disappointed. I am competitive gamer, meaning, I derive gaming pleasure from a ranked multiplayer experience. At the time I was playing from February to April, there was only ranked halo 2 team slayer. The ranked playlists were plagued with a plethora of issues ranging from the inability to spawn (when other players were, enabling them to get free spawn kills and take control of the map), games randomly ending, an unbalanced matchmaking system (a group of 1s and a 7 against a team of 10s and a 12), and no punishment for those who quit. These are just a few of the flaws I found. 343 kept promising patches, fixes, etc, however, it seemed like the patches never really fixed anything. Up until late April, I continued to play and rank up in halo 2 competitive slayer. However, a few weeks ago, 343 said they were resetting all ranks in halo 2 team slayer and adding another patch. So, all the time and work I put in to reach level 33 (not high, I know, but I put in a lot of time), was erased overnight. For what reason? I don't know. I continued to play, but, it seemed like the patch had fixed nothing. The multiplayer was still plagued by the same issues, and, there also seemed to be an issue with host lag (which hadn't been prominent before). As such, I lost all interest in the game. With regard to patches, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

    On a separate note, I had to re-install the game twice (bought a digital copy). Two or three times, xbox one wouldnt recognize that I owned the game. So, I had to re-install (which took a few hours). I'm not sure if this was an Xbox One issue, or a Halo Master Chief issue; regardless, it added to the unpleasant experience.

    Single Player Campaign:

    With regard to the single player, I didn't have any problems. That's the only part of the game that function properly.

    Conclusion:

    Save your money if you're in it for a competitive multiplayer experience.    … Expand

If you get this game, you should stick to playing Single Player Campaign, which is a very well done copy and paste.     The game overall is a nice pickup for anyone who missed a Halo that has a number in its name. The only downside is never being able to huddle around with your cousins or friends while playing split screen matches with each other or playing split screen with them now.     On one hand it's a collection of the greatest console shooting game trilogy ever made... On the other hand though it's a poorly done attempt at copy and pasting old games...     Sur la One en tout cas, cette 'remastérisation' en 1080/60 contitue au moins techniquement parlant un beau travail et encore davantage avec carrément de la 4K/60 sur la One X puisque la compilation du Major a profité des capacités de la nouvelle console. L'un des derniers patchs a même permis de choisir ce qu'on veut installer ou pas (solo ou multi etc) : ainsi, les 4 jeux en solo n'occupent que 56 Go ! une paille.

    Quoi qu'il en soit, même refaits ou remaquillés, les Halo restent des Halo avec leurs tics et leurs tocs, soufflant régulièrement le chaud et le froid ; l'univers en lui-même est assez intéressant mais la narration, les espèces d'histoires et les mécaniques laissent quelque peu à désirer. En tout cas, cette "Collection" est assurément bien présentée, charge vite et assure encore ses moments de grand spectacle pour peu qu'on ne soit pas (trop) hermétique au genre à lui tout seul que constitue la saga Halo.    … Expand

    ___Alright, let's be real here. Halo is OBVSLY a Very Good Game, BUT It Comes With Some Very Real Flaws. What can I say to Contribute to this Discussion; I think the devs should have amended some weak points in the gameplay, namely the Checkpoint system. Since the beginning of Halo people have taken issue with the unreliable and Downright Punishing nature of the Checkpoint system. This___Alright, let's be real here. Halo is OBVSLY a Very Good Game, BUT It Comes With Some Very Real Flaws. What can I say to Contribute to this Discussion; I think the devs should have amended some weak points in the gameplay, namely the Checkpoint system. Since the beginning of Halo people have taken issue with the unreliable and Downright Punishing nature of the Checkpoint system. This could easily have been amended, and here's why I think They Really Should Have Done So;
    ___I lost 30 minutes of Active gameplay over a HUGE territory on Halo 1 because the devs decided NOT to amend (or perhaps it's a bug) a shortage of checkpoints, which has always been a HUGE Complaint of the gaming community. As an adult who Scarcely has time to invest in enjoying games, a game that Throws away a Half an Hour of My Time is HIGHLY Offensive to me. And I think the devs should have considered this as they polished this game. They must know that their core audience, which was in High School when these games came out, is now primarily made of Adults.. Adults, like them, that don't have the unfortunate privilege of disposing of hours of their time.
    ___Additionally, I can only assume the devs left the same programming of enemies (I feel I should title them "monsters," as though we were playing an RPG..) in Halo 3 having "resistances" to certain weapons. I only played this game for the first time two years ago. I was Confused and Dismayed as some enemies simply Would Not Die when being shot with LOADS of ammunition from a certain class of weapons..!!? It was the first of the Halo series in which I did not attempt and complete Legendary mode because I found it to be so Amazingly Aggravating.
    ___It's a series of "Good" games, with flaws, and very good multiplayer. It could have been improved upon and fixed, as I feel it needed to be. I couldn't even start the 3rd episode of Nightfall though, it was that bad.

The cut-scenes in Halo 2 Anniversary edition looks breathtaking and lifelike. I hate to even think about how much time Im going to put into this one game its that massive!!     Thankfully, the single player seems to work fine. And the new coat of paint for the Halo 2 campaign is very sweet. The remastered cutscenes look amazing. The single player content and my love for the Halo series is the only reason I'm giving this tragic wreck of a game a middling score. It probably deserves a 1-3, especially if you bought it mainly for the multiplayer. But the sheer amount of great single player content pushes it up for me.    … Expand

    Even though of the network problems and a few bugs that 343i is currently dealing with. Remember you have 4 campaigns to play 2 of them being completely remastered for the Xbox One. The network problems will be fixed in the next few hours/days depending how fast they work. So just wait for the online to work and then it will be the ultimate Halo experience

Lastly good luck on trying to get a game with a friend going. The in-game roster does not work at all since it does not show your friends or invite them so be prepared to reboot the game very often.

    Microsoft and 343i should be slaughtered for releasing this game with the amount of issues and treating the loyal Halo fanbase like dirt by not saying a word and yet they have the audacity to release Halo 5 end of this year? Don't pre-order and don't buy Halo 5 on day of release 343/MS doesn't deserve our money after treating us like this.

    I almost considered getting an xbox one after being excited.

    Luckily for me I went to a friends house who has an xbone and "tried" to play matchmaking.
    Lets just say upon launch we were barely getting a match per hour and the sad part is it was small teams of 2v2 and other nonsense. Then there were maps where it couldn't render textures and was all white with lines everywhere.

    This game is full of bugs and glitches and LAG!!!!. I mean honestly if you are a halo fan then you have already beaten the 4 games already and want to see what matchmaking has to offer, which is nothing at the moment.

    There's also a glitch where you can boot a member from the opposing team.... wow!!!

    Once again I have lost interest in buying an xbone.

    I know there are a lot of people saying "don't worry they are fixing it".
    However like Ron White said "you can't fix stupid", and this my friends is 343 and microsoft being stupid.

    I am sick of games these days coming out that are broken and or unfinished products and we have to be stuck waiting for several patches to download while the rest of the game is sold as DLC.

Patch #2 brought longer loading times and hour long sessions for match making, when the multiplayer worked at all but still with a non functional single player option.

    This game has been a frustration and a major disappointment. 343 need to remember that their fans have played all these games before and never experienced these massive problems in the past. For these errors to persist is inexcusable. There is simply no apology or justification for releasing an incomplete and broken game. This is a discourtesy to the fans, to the creators of Halo and to 343 as artists. This collection was supposed to celebrate Master Chief and Halo, but all its done is tarnish a brilliant legacy.

    Do not buy this game until 6 months have passed and 343 have gotten their act together. The frustration isn't worth it.    … Expand

I went to the midnight release and got back around 12:30 I couldn't wait to play. I inserted the game and waited three hours for the massive 88 gigabyte download to install. I would rather play solo Sunset Overdrive than try to play multiplayer Halo. You should never hear anyone say that in your life. If you don't believe me then go see for yourself. Go try to connect to a game of team swat, after 45 minutes of waiting come back on and post for yourself. If you can prove that you played 3 games in 45 minutes then contact me and I will personally give you 100 dollars via Paypal. That is how confident I am. The only reason I rated this game a 3 is because of the legacy. Back to Call of Duty and Destiny whose makers actually do things right.… Expand

Seemed cool at first, but there is one glaring flaw. If you switch modes during a cut scene you will end up terribly out of sync and miss parts of the scene altogether. The new cut scenes are indeed impressive, but why include the ability to switch graphics if it clearly isn't going to sync up.

    Moving onward.

    I made it through the first 2 chapters on heroic difficulty. Started the third chapter got about halfway through and saved my game. I came back later and it started me at the beginning of chapter 3. Needless to say I was not pleased to have to start over.

    Campaign:
    Pros:
    Graphics are nice
    All levels unlocked at the start

    Cons:
    Issues with checkpoint saves, having to start over.
    Issues with H2 anniversary switching modes during cut scenes.
    Issues with achievements not unlocking

    Now on to multiplayer. I was not able to attempt multiplayer on release day due to the huge 15GB update. Call me silly but I still think games on consoles should just run right off the bat without lengthy install times. If I want that experience I will do so on PC. PC installers are also 10x faster.

    11/12/2014 I attempted to find a match in halo 2 classic. I waited hours and nothing happened!! I tried numerous match types/lobbies and never got anything. Very disappointing and frustrating.

    11/13/2014 Attempted to find a match in halo 2 classic. After about 10 minutes it put me into a H2 Anniversary map against an outnumbered overpowered team. 4v2 Why wasn't it 3v3!?!?
    I tried another search and it took just as long. Finally got into halo 2 classic match and... LAG, lag everywhere.
    Tried yet again in Halo 3. Took another 5-8 minutes to find players. The match started and there was initially lots of lag, but it got better as the game went on.
    Throughout all these sessions it was clear that there is no ranking whatsoever. So matches where terribly unbalanced and therefore not very fun.

    343, this is a godawful way to release your game, did you test it at all? was the port done by rabid STD riddled half rat-half monkeys?

    -Terminals which provided interesting story tidbits in Halo CE remastered now require me to install, update and boot another app to view. Why? every time I press a terminal I get a jarring, immersion breaking transition to an app I can't be bothered to use, the transition is cumbersome and poorly thought out.
    -Matchmaking is broken. broken is an understatement, if I were to personify the matchmaking service it would appear as a lobotomized Neanderthal suffering from the black death and colon cancer. It can take up to 20 minutes to find a match, and when matches are found they are always unbalanced with one team given more players(and more skilled players) while the other is stuck with newbs and less players.
    -The campaign save feature is broken, after completing the ENTIRE halo 2 campaign on heroic I have a total of 0 missions completed, and a sticker on my account saying I've never even tried it. then after playing 2 missions of halo 3 on legendary I have no record of that either. Was the save file system designed by someone repeatedly bashing they're skull in on a keyboard until they die of internal hemorrhaging?
    -Achievements don't pop, and sometimes don't even unlock. Admittedly this may be the Xbox one live teams fault, so I won't come up with a witty comparison to shame the hapless developers.
    -In halo 2 the enemy and friendly AI fails a shameless amount, with NPC's suddenly freezing on the spot lowering their weapons and staring blank eyed into what I can only assume is their own internal hell from which there is no escape.
    -Graphical update is good but disappointing.

The problem is the game's multi player is still not working properly after a week, I have yet to play matchmaking with any friends because it boots you or won't let you join.     If you played the Halo series strictly for the campaigns, then this collection is for you. The new graphics and small additions they've added are pretty cool. However my biggest issue is that I've finished each of these campaigns before - multiple times. They get boring fast and no amount of updated graphics can make up for that.

None of the patches they've released has made any difference whatsoever for me nor any of my friends. The last one made it noticeably worse. The game launched two weeks ago and there has been little-to-no improvements. Only a continuing spew of excuses from 343 and no timetable on when (or if) things will be fixed.

    I highly advise not wasting your money on half a game. An incomplete one if that. Farcry 4, Assasin's Creed Unity and GTA V (XBO) are all out now so you have the luxury of not wasting $60 on this pathetic excuse for a product.    … Expand

    I love Halo, I really do but 343 really messed up on the Master Chief Collection! I love the campaigns, but no working multiplayer servers with no working patches. And faker than Dolly Parton's chest apologies from 343 have soured my taste for this abomination!

    This game has nice graphics and good gameplay but the reason I buy an FPS is to play multiplayer and Halo is renowned for great multiplayer.It took me 6 weeks after launch to get an online game and it still doesn't work properly.Thanks 343,I won't be buying any Halo product developed by you,EVER.This is coming from a HUGE Halo fan.

    MP doesn't work. If MP doesn't work, then Halo isn't working. I give it a 2 because 20% of the game is single player, 80% of the game is multiplayer. And we all know the single player campaigns are good.

To say the least, this game is EXTREMELY BROKEN!

    1. Navigating menu's is a challenge. It's definitely manageable, but not user-friendly in the least. Often times the menu will even glitch and there will be several overlays overlapping and making it even more difficult. Also, the game crashes on occasion.

    2. Matchmaking is still broken a whole week later, with random queue times usually lasting longer than any actual match you may get into. Honestly, the entire multiplayer is broken. Having friends join your party is even difficult due to the glitchy social system in the game.

    3. Back to the multiplayer.... If I wanted to play a screwed up, glitchy version of Halo, at this point, I think I would have rather preferred to play the original Halo 2, where the glitches were at least enjoyable! You all can forget super bouncing (for the most part... you can still do it, but not nearly in the same manner as before as it is much, much more difficult), swordflying, and almost all the other fun glitches.

    4. So, from what i have covered, we are pretty much left with campaign and forge. Now I havent completed the entire campaign, but as far as i can tell, it is pretty much what it is, Halo: CE --> Halo 4. I enjoy the campaign, but I sure as hell did not pay $60 to play by myself through it and call the game good. Campaign can only entertain for so long...

    5. As for forge, I will be honest; this is by far the best forge in any Halo yet, but what do you know? Its broken as well. Saving maps is a hassle in itself. You press "Save as" and it doesn't even let you name it, it just throws it in your list of saved maps as the original title, forcing you to seek out your creations by date, and that's if yore lucky! Just recently i spent nearly an hour and a half working on a map, and come save time, I press "Save as" and receive no prompt to name it as usual, but i also don't get a message saying the map was even saved. As i expected, my hard work was for nothing, and for someone who forges as much as I do, this is VERY frustrating.

    To come to a conclusion: I am so bewildered how this game has received so may positive scores... It was released in a incomplete form, and for such a large franchise, it is incredibly disappointing. If you want the game for the campaign and nightfall series, sure, go right ahead and drop your money on this, but don't look forward to any of the other Halo experiences (at least not for a while.) I wish so bad that I could give this "game" a zero rating, but I can't disrespect one of my favorite games growing up. My advice to all of you interested: Wait this one out. They are bound to fix all this trash eventually, and hopefully the game will improve, but at this point I am quite unsatisfied.

    Halo MCC is riddled in bugs, the date is 3/8/2015 and the game still suffers matchmaking issues, campaign issues and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Regardless of these issues that first greeted me with the game I continued to play it, I wasn't going to let chief down, I love Halo and I was going to stick it out. I played the hell out of MCC and today I'm throwing in the towel and giving it its well earned poor rating.

    Current bugs experienced in MCC:

    Matchmaking:
    1. Uneven teams
    2. Forever loading times
    3. Random disconnects from games
    4. Random placements of games (you can search for the halo 3 playlist and somehow play another playlist)
    5. Terrible hitscan in halo 2 matchmaking still
    6. Broken party system, if you're looking to play this game with friends you will experience long delays in getting a party together and will also have to repeat the process of inviting your friends due to issues with how MCC handles party play. You can look to play with friends and it will randomly displace you on separate teams and sometimes even place you in separate games.
    7. In-game voice chat will randomly fail, that's right, sometimes you can't even talk to your friends or team mates in game and its not from disconnected mics.

    There are many more bugs to be found in this game, I mentioned matchmaking first because that seems to be the main concern for most gamers these days, however I play halo for more than the online services it has to offer, I love the Halo story and even here you will find countless random bugs.

    1. Unplayable online co-op with friends, its not an internet problem, for some reason different campaigns will fail to load or when you go to play them they will freeze your xbox. Sometimes Halo 3 Crows nest which seems to have this issue the worst will experience the worst multiplayer co-op lag while other missions work fine.
    2. Random disconnects during online campaign, you can randomly disconnect playing with your friends during your missions, very annoying especially for halo 2 legendary where the campaign is the hardest.
    3. Unexpected map failures for halo 4, if loading halo 4 campaign missions you may have difficulty with saving your campaign games. After saving and coming back to play said missions later they will crash your MCC. This happens especially often with Halo 4 "reclaimer" mission and I highly recommend beating it on one shot.

    Campaign and Multiplayer aren't the only areas effected by bugs, Halo Spartan OPs suffers from the similar random campaign lag where some missions work while others don't due to unknown lag. I'd normally classify this as a network issue but for the fact some spartan ops missions work clean while others will randomly fail to load, crash or just totally be unplayable due to random lag I won't classify it as a network lag issue on the player side at least.

    Forge mode is the last thing I'll complain about here, in every halo game switching between character and creator modes are relatively smooth and fast. While working with the Halo 2 Anniversary engine you can experience easily up to a waiting time of a minute before you switch modes from creator to character. This issue makes testing things in forge and forging things very inefficient and an overall waste of time for most forgers.

    Halo MCC has only one really good thing, the Halo2 remastered cut-scenes are fantastic, the game looks brilliant but is a miserable failure on the actual playing side. As a dedicated halo fan I can only say I'm horribly and sadly disappointed with the outcome of what should have been the Xbox One powerhouse game of the year easily. MCC has 4 great games, 3 of them arguably being some of the most fantastic games ever created put together into a terrible mosh of bugs and unreliability. When I heard of this game being created I thought to myself "this game is going to be perfect, there is no way 343 could screw this up for us." I was wrong, very very wrong. This is clear disrespect to the franchise from 343, having the Halo 5 guardians beta up while Halo MCC was suffering major and still is suffering major issues truly shows where 343 stands. 343 doesn't care about us fans, they just want to make money. Do not pre-order Halo 5. We cannot allow them to give us another game like this, if you're going to purchase Halo 5. Purchase it after release, we can't guarantee a playable game from them anymore so they shouldn't be guaranteed our money.    … Expand

    Even after years of patches, this remastering is still buggy and awful. Tons of glitches through out the entire saga. Many crashes also occurred. This is by far one of the worst remasters I have ever played.

    I forgot about the checkpoint system and that I HAVE to quit & save the game, so I automatically pressed the Middle button on my controller and shutdown the console. I had to replay the whole level. Lost hour and a half of my progress. OK. It IS my fault.

    Halo is on a decline and the master chief collection shows that. Halo 1 and 2 as good games show the how forlorn halo 3 and 4 are. Still halo 2 doesn't even run at native 1080p.
