    Server instability isn't fun but this game is fun. If you've loved Fallout 3 and 4 you'll love this game. You don't have to have friends to play with to really enjoy it. Playing with friends does make it much more enjoyable. Easy to gather Atoms so you don't have to spend real money. Easy to avoid grifters as well.

    I bought this game on release and stopped playing about 1-2 weeks after release. This was because of all the issues, bugs, and glitches and just not a fun game experience. I will watch reviews but typically I still like to form my own opinion of games. Fast forward 8 months post E3, I had been following the game and it’s roadmap, but the biggest thing that got me to try the game again was the Wastelander DLC announcement. So I decided to try and give the game another chance and to be honest I’m glad that I did. It’s not perfect right now there needs to be some balances to the game but it sure seems to be running a lot more stable. I’m only halfway through the story but I have to say I’m really enjoying the game play and the changes from the DLC and patches. I defiantly look forward to the Wastelander DLC so I plan on finishing the story before that. Also Nuclear Winter is surprisingly very fun even though every game is throwing in a Battle Royal. It’s quick matches and fun to be in the fallout universe. Right now I would say the game is at a 7/10 with all the changes so I hope when the new DLC comes out it will make the game a 9/10 or 10/10, as well as bring in some of the choices and consequences that make Fallout one of my favorite RPG universes.… Expand

    This game is awful and the absolute worst game of the last 2 years worse than anthem was. The only redeeming quality I can give this game is it is pretty. It has a non existent story it can't be played offline the game is buggier than a dirty run down high school in Detroit and it lacks any originality from the other fallout titles.     It's very.... meh. I was so excited for this game, and i think as most will agree what we got after the initial hype was a huge huge let down. I just don't get how it ended up so wrong. The whole MMO idea was great, but by removing EVERY human NPC (unless it's a dead body) was a really really bad idea, as reflected in the quest line, which is absolutely terrible.

I just don't get how it ended up so wrong.     The level of initial bugs was embarrassing, and this reflected in the game play. It was incredibly hard to play at times, with bugs like invisible enemies, environments not rendering, and quest lines not triggering correctly to name a few.

    The map is fantastic, like awesome. It's huge, you'll never run out of places to find, it's really nicely designed, and just a very interesting place to explore. With a huge variety of environments and terrains, it's a really nicely done aspect of the game. It's just a huge shame the rest of the game lets the experience down.

    I personally found that leveling up takes an absolute age... especially with boring repetitive quests, that don't really feel like they have any depth or interest at all. (Such as, find these objects, bring them here, or escort this robot to this location sort of quest) Like i've sunk 3 days of solid gameplay into it now somehow, and i'm not even level 50 yet. The special / perk system is also absolutely terrible. Fallout 3 had it perfect, Fallout NV improved on it, Fallout 76 took everything good about it and emptied it into a bin. It's a clunky confusing mess that really hinders your characters progression.

    Item condition is back, which means your guns are now essentially made of paper apparently, with them breaking constantly. On the flip side, quite cool how condition has been applied to cooked food items / organic foods, as they can go off and spoil if not eaten in time.

    The soundtrack (as in the atmospheric exploring music) is also great. Visuals are great, from landscapes to guns.

    Overall, this game could've been absolutely amazing. It's just a shame it was botched so badly, meaning we got a really unsatisfying entry to what is a fantastic franchise. Can be fun if played with a few friends, but it gets tiring pretty quickly.    … Expand

But now as of 2020 I believe Falliut 76 has redeemed itself a little and I would say this is a really enjoyable game to play with friends… Expand

    Still waiting on my Canvas bag... basically this game was is and will always be a disaster... the game that may have ruined bethesdas good faith that gathered, will forever remain in the mind of every massive fallout and elder scrolls fan (like me) who will second guess a preorder or a buy when they announce the next fallout or elder scrolls game... I haven't played since last Christmas,Still waiting on my Canvas bag... basically this game was is and will always be a disaster... the game that may have ruined bethesdas good faith that gathered, will forever remain in the mind of every massive fallout and elder scrolls fan (like me) who will second guess a preorder or a buy when they announce the next fallout or elder scrolls game...     The survival mechanics are a slog for the first 10 or so hours. At a high level the game gets better. Unfortunately very few character builds are viable against high level bosses. The new VATS system works poorly.

    It's a Fallout game that hardly anyone asked for, it launched as a broken, buggy, half-baked mess, it is overtly monetized and despite all of the player feed back and promises made to the player base, Bethesda have continually shot themselves in the foot with this game and have betrayed the trust of their audience    Anyone giving this game an 8, 9 or 10 is being incredibly disingenuous.

    It's a Fallout game that hardly anyone asked for, it launched as a broken, buggy, half-baked mess, it is overtly monetized and despite all of the player feed back and promises made to the player base, Bethesda have continually shot themselves in the foot with this game and have betrayed the trust of their audience (see Fallout 1st as the latest in a long line of foot meet loaded handgun moments).

    The servers are incredibly unstable and drop connections frequently. The VATS system is shoe-horned in and is an absolute joke. The story and endgame are an incredibly watered-down version of what a Fallout story should be like, with a lot of survival crafting getting in the way.

    It's clear Bethesda do not care about the Fallout IP anymore. If they can't be bothered to develop an even half-way decent Fallout title, then they don't deserve your money.    … Expand

    The world is empty, a lot of the questlines in this game feel as if the conclusion is known before you start due to the fact there are no NPCs. Game is a very bad look for the fallout series which is one of my favorites. Buggy mess that is only fun with friends, only somewhat though.

Depending on the individual the requirement of online play can be really bad to good so that is controversial. Story is pretty mediocre. Map design is good and diverse.     I bought all the original fallout games back on the pc and all the elder scrolls games. Bethesda has become a trash company like EA caring more about micro transactions than their customers.

    DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS BUGGY PIECE OF TRASH.

    Loved it the first 5 hours and then it became a grind it was the same thing over and over again. Then the hits just kept coming nuka dark rum, vault jacket and the west tek bag. Just a mess

At level one I had to fight something 15 levels above me to advance in the story, literally impossible. Insane number of glitches (game says do this, I try to do it but suprise it doesn’t work. What a ****Absolutely terrible. Unexplainable deaths as soon as I fast travel(constantly). No way to store enough materials to build anything worth a damn. Over powered creatures from the start.     The only reason this is a 5 is because of how bad it is. This game is so bad it's funny. The gameplay though is garbage, and if it wasn't so glitchy it would be a 1/10. (The glitchiness adds to the score because of it being so bad)

    I've been playing this game consistently since B.E.T.A. and I admit, I trashed it in the beginning, mostly due to it's many bugs and crashes. Not so much the content or game play. That was never really an issue. Though once I got through all the main quests, it did get boring, but Wild Appalachia and other updates helped spice things up. Wastelanders has made the game feel more likeI've been playing this game consistently since B.E.T.A. and I admit, I trashed it in the beginning, mostly due to it's many bugs and crashes. I got tired after a few hours and then forgot the game. Now with updates and a few patches, it is a huge difference. It is fun to play and tons of things to do, both togheter and alone (If you wish).     I'm having a good time with it. They have NPC's and nice enough stories if you're in the mood for some Fallout. The map is big and the visuals good. It's the same old Fallout with other people running around.

    Critically though, it needs a lot more of everything. And then some. The character build is fairly basic. Some buildings are walled off. The amount of items is good but all that can be done with them is junk for parts. They have a ground model but once you pick objects up you then deposit them in a paper bag. No ground model. So you can't say, pick up that foot in a jar and deposit as a gift to someone. It's now a paper bag. Not good. Cant collect objects for decor.

    Small things that can be fixed. I hope they add more of everything. It has some moments of real great atmosphere. It's almost there with that creepy haunted house vibe. I'll thrash it out some more. I'm actually writing this waiting for their update 21 patch.... Still waiting. Patch doesn't look to have anything new, just bug fixes and some sort of competition events. Hope they do more useful items and creatures and vendors and NPC's. Maybe some pets, like a pack mule and a sewer rat.. Put Travelling salesmen in again too. Hope there's fishing too. Saw a fishing rod. Put it away for later. Hope it's not just junk. I don't want this to be a full shooter. If I want that I will go play Battlefield series. I want Fallout survival horror. Have to wait and see, but I get the feeling this game too basic to hold my attention for long.

    All that said, in conclusion it is well worth the ticket price for a wander around a work of art. Even at full price I think it would be worth it. I hope they keep building on it.    … Expand

But to take it this far and to butcher the franchise is just disgusting. F3 was good, FNV (interplay) was good, F4 was good, where did Bethesda go wrong?     Wastelanders: Honestly one of the Greatest Fallout Stories written. It starts off pretty well, where you have to inoculate the Raiders and Settlers against the Plague that wiped out the survivors of Appalachia. The next missions are basically to build up your trust with the factions and ultimately decide with who you want to raid Vault 79 and get the gold. If there is a sequel to that, im looking forward to it.

    Steel Dawn: It felt a bit short since there were only 8 Missions. But since it only is the first chapter of the new Brotherhood, it was enjoyable. The missions were enjoyable and the NPCs introduced with the update were also good. While Knight Shin might be not the most likable NPC you encounter, he is lore friendly and basically represents what the Brotherhood is. It had one surprise where the Paladin betrays the Brotherhood and destroys the only communication signal. In Overall, im also looking forward to the next chapters in this DLC.

    And hopefully, in 2021, Bethesda releases an Enclave DLC.

    Gameplay:

    To be perfectly honest, all the best guns are locked behind a decent grind to level 50, which will take you a while since there are no exploits in the game which level you up fast, and the guns are balanced, but something feels wrong with finding a gun and not being able to use it, while it is absolutely understandable.

    But the Gameplay can be fun once you encounter Fallout Monsters and fight them with your friends, unless the AI is crap.

    Lore:
    I liked the Lore in the game, despite of it being set in a timeline which certainly is not the best. The holotapes were boring sure, but they were lore friendly etc. In Overall, I liked the lore, but the timeline certainly could be better.

    Map;

    Fallout 76 is a great open world, with its huge map and different regions. At launch, the map felt empty, since there were no NPCs. Now it also feels partially empty, but it still is a blast to explore and the best map in the Fallout Series.

    Graphics:

    From afar, this game looks beautiful, many viewpoints show you beautiful vistas and i loved it. From up close, the graphics are only a bit better than Fallout 4, since bethesda does not enhance their engine for some reason. But most of the graphical bugs which were there at launch were fixed, although you might encounter some graphical shadow bugs.

    NPCs:

    Most of the NPCs are well acted and it is enjoyable to talk to them, also the Dialogue System is a huge improvement from Fallout 4.

    Technical:

    Fallout 76 is buggy. While exploring, I have not encountered bugs besides the shadows etc. I encountered Audio Bugs while doing Events with many other people, instead of hearing the many other gun sounds i heard bizarre sounds. The game technically is better and does not crash often, the quests are sometimes buggy, you can't interact with NPCs or Intercoms sometimes, the disconnections from servers were surprisingly minimal. In overall, it has improved.

    Verdict:
    6,5/10

    The main story is boring, but the Wastelanders and Steel Dawn are really really well written! The Gameplays best parts are locked behind a huge grind, but is often rewarding and fun when the AI is not crap. The Lore is good in my opinion, but the timeline and when it is set clearly are not the best and since bethesda's fallouts only happen in the 2270 or later, it would not have been a bad idea to make fallout 76 happen in 2280 instead of 2103, but in overall, the holotapes are lore friendly and do a good job, while ruining the story. The Map is an absolute blast to explore, but feels partially empty. The bugs with graphics were mostly fixed, and the game is beautiful from afar, but only a bit better from up close than Fallout 4. The NPCs are generally well acted and the dialogue system is a huge improvement from Fallout 4. It partially is technically rough and buggy, but in overall the updates and the Support from the Developers made the game a lot better and Wastelanders and Steel Dan are solid foundations to build the future story of fallout 76 on, and the game can absolutely be as good as Fallout 4 and recover from its reputation, since it always had and has potential.    … Expand

    Wastelanders: Well it's the base campaign but with some of the best fallout content Bethesda ever made and the severs stopped crashing 5/10
    Steel Dawn : more good actual Fallout stuff plus the combat is much more responsive 7/10

Sorry Bethesda, I wanted so much to love this game but you have overtaken EA as the worst publisher.     I put over 100 hours into this game because I wanted it to be good, but it just never really came through. I don't like the bugs/glitches, but it's not a deal breaker for me. What really bugs me is the fact that inventory weight management is what you spend the most time on.

    Fallout 76 is a fun, entertaining and interesting game. There is plenty of things you can do, everywhere you go you can find weird monsters or a place that has a story behind it. It`s also worth mentioning that Bethesda has done an amazing job by adding updates my friends and I had a fun time with the quests and kept us entertained. In my opinion, he game has become more solo-friendly thanFallout 76 is a fun, entertaining and interesting game.     The game isn’t as bad as people say, I found it really enjoyable to play although after completing all main and side missions the game runs a little dry. However, once you complete the main game, there is always new content coming out and daily events occurring.     This game has improved drastically from its initial release. It's a fun community that are willing to help out with quests. They've added new missions daily ops and expeditions. I started playing on gamepass and it is a decent game now. I recommend anyone go back and give it a try.

A low level will deal as much damage to an enemy as somebody with a higher level since the enemies scale to each player. When you get stronger over time the enemies in the same area get stronger aswell so there is not point for me to upgrade my character. The System before was way better, where enemies would have a certain fixed level in a specific area. I also prefered the perk system in Fallout 4 where you could unlock every single perk. It is a grind to unlock every perk, but this was another reason that kept me playing. Why couldnt they just make a Fallout with coop combatibility instead of an online Fallout. Im just gonna stick to the other Fallout entries for now.… Expand

Bethesda basically revived Fallout 76 by adding the Wastelanders, this added life to Appalachia! For a person that has had the game since it came out, this is a HUGE relief. Thanks Bethesda.     I loved the game since I bought it in 2021, because they had already corrected the errors it had. With Wastelanders, Steel Dawn and Steel Reign I enjoyed them, only the latter lacked more history. Still, the game is even more enjoyable when there are almost no bugs. Only there are a few Griefers that roam the game. Take precautions.

    If you want to spend 1/2 of your time logging back into the game, this is the game for you. The game is full of bugs that stop gameplay, either it will kick you or you will choose to restart. The game freezes often and can cause you to lose your place in the quest where you have to start all over again after spending so much time preparing for it.     After seeing how much of a train wreck this game was on release and beyond, I made a huge promise to never buy this game if I valued myself as a fan of the Fallout games. A few years later and I would find this game in a bargain bin for the low price of £2, so I decided to get it and see the complaints. Below are some articulated points I have for this game:
    Although I do see the appeal for online games, I rarely play them. This is mostly because I hate paying for subscriptions to use a service I'm already paying for. So this problem may be commonplace in online games and I'm just not aware of it, but the AI in this game is horrendous. The main enemies in this game are these weird ghoul creatures that technically aren't ghouls, and they have some unconventional movement patterns and behaviors that I'm not used to seeing as a predominantly single-player sort of person. Might just be a nitpick, but I personally found it annoying to see enemies constantly sidestep and jerk around irregularly.
    They initially released the game with no NPCs, the entirety of the game's story was told with audio logs. After some vocal complaints, Bethesda quietly began adding NPCs for the player to interact with - and yet I still don't know what they were going for in terms of story. If it's a prequel all the games preceding it, then why are there Super Mutants in the wasteland? The NCR didn't form until after the original Fallout, yet you can still obtain their gear somehow. And the overall game has this bizarre late 60s vibe as opposed to the previous games' post-World War II Americana. Basic plot points in that have been illustrated since the beginning have been disregarded for what I would love to describe as poorly-written fan fiction at this rate.
    I would think to myself how Fallout could have worked as an online experience, but this is not how to do it. What upsets me the most is that the previous Fallout games by Bethesda had something going for them, there was something about Fallout 3 and 4 that thematically felt like Fallout - but were otherwise completely different tonally. I find it difficult to give this game a recommendation: Play any other Fallout game other than this.    … Expand

PVP is surprisingly well implimented all things considered, it is optional and based on mutual consent. the one noteworthy downside is that powerscaling does not hold up to some playstyles, which can result in PVE fights randomly getting very easy or uneccesarily punishing depending on your loadout and skills. the building system is tolerable, but copied from other games. the crafting of guns, food, alcohol, and armor is enjoyable and extensive. in bethesda fashion there are a lot of little easter eggs all across the map. events are enjoyable to play. it took a long time to get here, but i like it. the graphics could be better, but the world still looks nice. the world is well designed, and offers variety while also not feeling to packed. fast travel is costly (in caps) but cheesable, which in my opinion is the best way to do it. its a good bethesda game. it took 5 years to get there, but it got there.4/5… Expand

    Another **** cash grab by Bethesda. The only reason to play this game over fallout 4 is because of the multiplayer. I would pick fallout 4 any day over this as it doesn't suck me into quests. Fallout 4 also has good factions rather than you being solo other than the online.

    Maps terrible and doesn't feel like a fallout map, pretty bland and the map looks misleading if im honest. Boring story and i can't really think of any memorable characters unlike previous fallout titles, the game might be fun with friends though?

    It’s a good game, if you don’t like the genre and don’t like the gameplay that’s on you. Play something else instead of pretending it’s bad. In regards to bugs and things I played hours and hours on Xbox one s and never had any bugs. Definitely not any gamebreaking things. If you’re a fallout fan then give it a chance and don’t expect to be disappointed be optimistic.

    People missed out on this game when jumping on the hate bandwagon. Great world building and fun online leads to the best exploration with friends would have in any game. Sure its different but that was known going in.

It can be okay when your not fighting robots, but every other thing you do contains robots, the bugs are plentiful (i get some bugs are bound to make it through but getting a bug that affects gameplay once every 20 minutes is ridiculous). The story is mid as hell and the events are lackluster. The main reason i wound up quitting the game was the terribleFallout 76 is situationally fun.     But it’s hard to feel as if you’re truly affecting the world when there are no NPCs to express satisfaction or disdain, or to be directly influenced by your actions. Even killing feels hollow. Some of my best battles in Fallout 4 came when I stumbled across an outpost and found there a raider in there; he’d yell and scream at me as we were facing off. The Scorched, while armed, feel like nothing more than zombies.

    The addition of multiplayer feels as though it comes at the expense of Fallout’s memorable story-driven moments. What good is a vast map full of players if they're given little to no purpose? When no other players are around, the game’s world feels almost empty. The attention-grabbing locales and landmarks add to Appalachia's charm, but it's difficult to not wish for living, breathing characters to inhabit it. Post-apocalyptic West Virginia is described as a wasteland, and this term paints an inadvertent but accurate picture of what Fallout 76 is right now.

    If you enjoy multiplayer games of this type and are willing to overlook the engine anomalies, you may find yourself rapidly addicted to the game's exploration density and loot systems. If you're easily frustrated by bugs and issues, you may want to sit tight a bit to see what Bethesda does to polish things up, cus oh boy, it could use a bit right now. If you're a fan of the single player, branching narrative the series is known for, you'll want to wait for Fallout 5.
