First off I am a HUGE fallout fan. Although i wasn't a fan of fallout going multiplayer, i was willing to give it a chance..... I created a account to show my disgust with this game. This game is complete garbage and a disgrace to the fallout name. Bethesda CREATE A NEW ENGINE AND DITCH YOUR OUT-DATED **** ENGINE!!!

When walking backwards you walk into invisible walls yes i see that there was nothing stopping me when i turned around to see why i couldn't walk backwards. The main story quest is you following holo tapes that someone leaves behind and you don't feel like you are contributing to anything. The pvp is broken when you are up against 2 people with power armor and you got nothing and there is something you can do but let them kill you. The building is broken there are only a few spots to build and if someone builds at a workshop you can't move it or collect your stuff that got placed next to it. The hit detection of enemies is also broken. Just don't buy it and save your self the trouble or just watch people streaming it.

So I decided to try Fallout again and it's still bad after having another 57 GB update before I could play. The game feels horrible for controls aim is useless and even with the Two-Shot guns they don't do hardly any damage and the shotgun is still glitched. I was able to play it for about 45 minutes before I got off because of how unplayable the game is. After all these updates it doesn't look like they fix anything. Thanks Bethesda You lost another customer.

Wtaf? This game is worse than bad. It's like they took all the NPCs and story out of Fallout 4 and dropped you in the middle of it. So disappointing, was really looking forward to this title. What a complete waste of money.

Just a reskin of fallout 4 but somehow manages to be worse? It's as shallow as a puddle and takes all of the fun original mechanics and quests and tosses them out the window. This game is absolutely terrible. Everything about, from the bugs to gameplay. Absolutely bad. Everything they promised at E3 was thrown down the drain. But hey, At least they earned an Award. The 3rd most discussed game of 2018. Don't take it as a nice title, Todd.

This is such a sad attempt at a $60 game, which isn't even finished. There are so many bugs and server disconnections it is ridiculous. I have had items in my inventory disappear and i have been attacked by invisible enemies many times. The game feels empty and its just boring. This game is a joke and Bethesda has become a joke of a company.

I’ve been a massive Fallout fan for 10 years and I’ve never been so truly disappointed like I am with Fallout 76. In its current state, I see it as truthfully unplayable. It feels like a constant grind for everything; loot, caps, experience, building materials, guns, etc. Not only is this massive playable area completely void and empty, so seems every area of anything interesting to loot.

I ran into a bug that had me stuck in an entering power armour animation that left me with no HUD and unable to move which left me defenceless against the 10 enemies that spawned right in front of my face. Usually, I would accept that it’s just a random bug but this animation has been around for 3 years, I can’t find a good excuse for it to be showing up now - especially in a title that supposed to surpass the previous titles.

The story is also luckluster, not having NPCs has harmed to game tremendously. It defeats the point of it being a Fallout title. How could they get this so wrong?

I’m so disappointed because I truly love Fallout, I want to love this game but I can’t find a reason to. I feel, left in it’s current state, this does nothing but harm a franchise that is so loved.

Here’s waiting for a year of updates to finally get a experience that feels like a $60 AAA title, a true Fallout experience 100GB update.

Bethesda have killed the Fallout franchise with Fallout 76. Why? Because
    1) They destroyed all storytelling in the game (previously one of the greatest hallmarks of a Bethesda game) by removing all human NPCs
    2) They tried to make a multiplayer Fallout (which is all well and good), but did it in the stupidest way. Instead of writing a new engine designed specifically for multiplayer,

Because the engine was never designed for multiplayer, which is why we now have all these performance issues and bugs, because you are trying to cram a square peg into a round hole. Not to mention a lot of the features were never designed for multiplayer. The VATS system in Fallout 76 is a complete joke.

i am about a full day in playing this game. 22h on record now. i played by myself for 8 hours. then actually went out to look for a gang to team up with. no one would join me. it seams very very hard out of the maybe 30 people i have run across, that would like to be friends.

My first 8 hours of playing this game... it was dead it seamed. it was as if i was playing Fallout 4 after the main mission. I was able to get a power armor frame. and a massive plethora of pipe pistols. that i can only seam to sell for 1-2 bottle caps or deconstruct into one or 2 screws. depending on item condition. and after about 8 of those hours, compiling materials and a few quests. i still couldnt build a full on house (4 walls and a roof). So after i gave up on the building aspect of the game. i then got board of doing the same kind of quests over and over again. ether fetch, baby sit, kill something, or read an entire essay worth of hidden quest paths. I have been around the block a few times with these holotape and such story systems. Fallout 1 and especially Fallout 2 had them already. It wasnt new.

My next few hours. from hour 8 to about 12 i found one of my friends in game. And we didnt go on some massive adventure our the like. i was helping him get his quests done and the like he was helping with some of mine. We still couldnt really build much. And he got tired of just doing the same kind of quests as well.
From about hour 12 to 13 we just talked and tried to figure out the leveling system, some crafting, and where to go and do next. so from hour 13 to about 16 we went to the edge of the maps. We tried to find the largest landmarks. and we ended up getting frustrated as we kept running out of ammo, and getting chased down by a gang of 4 other players wanting to PvP.
My friend left on hour 16 and i went back to where i like to set up my shop. trying to work with the crafting system in some way. seeing what i could or couldnt do.
Then followed by me Alt-Tabing out of the game to see how to start looking for nuclear launch codes... to no real prevail.

My Review of this game is a 2/10. its boring. its empty. theres nothing at those cool looking locations. the story didnt hook me or my friend. the quests are generic MMO quests. its still buggy. and as i have seen from previous BGS games, they will remain buggy to the end of their life.
The Engine is too old for this stuff they expect it to do.
The players ruined my experience. but it was alright when i was playing with just my friend. the no push-to-talk system is cancerous.
There is no amusement to about 80% of these locations.
There is no random special encounters with lets say as happens in Fallout 3 or new vegas.
Its arsenal is lack luster. it will be an E.A. like system where i have to play some 100+h before i get to end game equipment. that i might not even have the level to use. I already got power armor frame and a minigun though. Ammo is harder to come across.
The survival aspect of this game is a joke. you dont get hungry or thirst too often at all. Softcore survival just means that you are to not have too harsh of a penalty on death... not have it become a massive chore when you actually need to drink or eat.
The game is alright for exploring and some time with friends. But thats all that is here. wide as an Ocean, deep as a puddle. ill give it points for the looks and the environment. but everything else? No.

Out of this entire experience, i came out feeling ripped off. I payed $65 pre-order... i get home to open my PHYSICAL CD case. to find that where the CD is, its a cardboard disk... THERE IS NO PHYSICAL COPY OF FALLOUT 76. and it was STILL a FULL PRICED game. Not only that but the pre-order from Gamesstop; Their special pre-order item? was a Fallout Sticker to put in your car window.

I have no idea what Bethesda is doing. idk if this is Todd's idea. but if this is a joke. it went right over all of our heads.

As of today. I know this wasnt your first Online game, Bethesda. i am no longer your fan. Goodbye Bethesda.

Other players simply exist, you don’t interact as much as you simply see each other, the base building is something I latched onto in an attempt to justify my hard earned dollars alas, this too hits a wall as you easily achieve everything you need from a base within a hour or so.

I love the world they have crafted. I like playing this with friends, which inherently makes the game fun for my personal expenses and possibly others.

I enjoy the 'survival' mechanics of the game and progression it provides to aiding your playstyle.

The innovations, where you have to scout out plans to craft your fortress, tho with some downsides but a good idea. The regions, another innovation giving all players places to go and fight to progress and not feel cheated at times, which again still issues. The settlement menu feels more fluid and easier to navigate, making it a joy to build, but that's all and now onto negatives. Now I'm level 37 and haven't discovered everything yet so the score could change but as it stands right now:

I hate stuttering. Never in my life have me and my mate felt so frustrated with a game where we enter a high-level area and the game decides to spawn not one, not 2 or even 5, but 15-20 enemies in the same locations. This threw us off and we were annoyed because it wasn't a quest to defend a workshop but the game-deciding to spawn in too many enemies that tho may seem to be a challenge, it stutters the screen. Even worse, they haven't addressed the automatic stuttering from the beta. Every time you fire an automatic, the game just starts to stutter and you end up missing a couple of bullets that could've killed them. I'm here trying to run a revolver and submachine gun build but can't cause the game decides to stutter. If this doesn't get address ASAP, this game isn't going to be as supported I'm afraid. My friend spoke on this in one of our sessions: What is a game with a beautiful open world to explore if it constantly lags on an ageing engine?

Limitations in the settlement are a pain in the ass. I get some of the premises behind it, being not being able to 'float structures' (to an extent) or building certain things. But you need plans for a rug, yes, a rug. Not the fancy bear ones but a simple rug. The budget is far too small or the budget cost for certain items like turrets and building is too much, either way, it prevents me from building a cool base for my mates and other players to hang out in the cause of the budget. Stash is also another issue. How the hell can i store items I may need later that are very valuable like most heavy guns and power armour bits if my stash had a limit? You simply can't.

Various bugs encountered, no surprise there. This one annoying bug has been really bullying my mate I play with and it's such a broken mess it drives him mad. The enemies that can melee him can do damage to him, even when it's not in range of him but still do the damage and he can't fight back, so he is basically fighting ghosts he can't kill. There are times where there would be naked versions for people characters that T pose, there are crashes which don't let you keep the workshops you claimed, the power armour skeleton glitch is back and many more I've not encountered but I'm sure you all have.

Having no NPCs for me is a big misstep in the wrong direction and makes the world empty, tho I can still play the game without them but it doesn't feel the same. All the charisma and flavour those NPCs had from previous games just made em so memorable and all were are here for is to listen to. I also don't like the linear quests, which is brought from fallout 4s story. Now I haven't done every single quest but from what I've done, it's all pretty linear. Do this, read that, kill it, listen, collect, defend all in its quest lines and now deviates from this formula that should've stayed in Fallout 4. But wait, its a "Fallout 4 multiplayer mod" as most tend to agree, where it has no NPCs and hasn't improved as much? maybe to an extent that your choice to decide.

Overall, Fallout 76 is an average experience for the player. If you like to play with friends, you will have a lot of fun with them. If you play individually, all the tools are there for you, but at the cost of losses, which you may not like. Though the game does provide good quality of life improvement and a rich world to explore, it is still plagued by issues of the creation engine with all the bugs and glitches that weren't touched and resolved. All I can personally say to Bethesda is this, "roll out weekly updates, patch issue consistently and keep making content, or else your game is going to suffer like it's starting.

Fallout 76 is the Dai Katana of 2018. If this was released 15 years ago it would have OK. But the quality is completely unacceptable. Its buggy, boring, bland, repetitive, un rewarding ... and the hell is with using the same engine from Morrowind days ?

So disappointed in Bethesda. They had the opportunity to make a great game and gave us a sandbox. I cannot imagine they put as much time and effort into this game as they did the previous games in the series. I was seriously looking forward to this game and having the urge to return a Fallout game kills me.

One of the worst gaming experiences I've ever had. After the disappointment that was Fallout 4, I was hopeful a complete change in style and execution could turn things around for this franchise, but this game is a total disaster; it's barely a game.

Where do I begin? It feels like an unfinished demo, or an Alpha version of a game that still has years of work left to go into it. The "quests" are monotonous and repetitive fetch quests which just have you going from computer terminal to computer terminal, listening to holotape after holotape and it never gets more interesting than that.

The horrid, amazingly awful crafting system from 4 has been double downed on here, and makes a gloriously abysmal return to the franchise. I was really hoping to see less crafting in Fallout moving forward, or at least have it be made totally optional, but once again Bethesda is forcing us to experience their "Open World MMORPG" their way, not our way.

This studio seems to have lost the plot. I really don't think they understand what made their previous games so successful, and what fans are looking for in their gameplay experience. I played this game twice before deciding to return it for a full refund (thankfully I ordered a physical copy).

Another major flaw with the game is the fact that you cannot avoid trolls. Trolling is to be expected on any online game, but when you're trying to complete a quest, and a higher level player keeps spawn killing you, where is the fun in that? It's impossible to make any progress, and turns the game into a frustrating, exhausting experience.

They have a "Pacifist Mode" which when activated, makes you totally defenseless to other players. I'm not kidding, literally you can still be attacked, but you are not able to harm any other players with the mode turned on. Someone, anyone, tell me the point of this feature. I really don't get it. It's maybe the most confounding feature of any video game I've ever played. A feature designed to make yourself an easier target, instead of blocking attacks from other players.

These are just a few examples of how disastrously awful this game is. And it adds insult to injury that in less than two weeks of the game being released, it went on sale for nearly half the price, when I paid full price for this junk, along with many other players. Bethesda is quickly losing my faith and respect, and I'm very cautious and scared about Elder Scrolls 6 at this stage. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. You'll thank me for it.

Bethesda games are normally known for their glitchiness and issues. However, games such as Skyrim, FO NV, and Morrowind pushed the boundaries of what a video game was in their time. The only boundary this game pushes is how broken of a game can a AAA studio release before they get a class action lawsuit,

The only reason I didn't give it a 0 is because the music is decent even though the majority is recycled from FO4.

Bethesda being well known for their glitches has in fact come in to 76 whether its a mission bug where you can't complete the game or forces you glitching through walls or enemies or not being able to sell items to vendors you will encounter tons of bugs. PVP seems to be extremely watered down i encountered one other person who was attacking me in the game decided to match off with him,he ended up killing me and was a very boring experience no fun or threat or loss of items really just some crafting materials your left with all your main stuff. How much you can carry is definitely a HUGE issue in the game i found only after 4 hours of playing having to drop rare and valuable guns and items just to make some room so your not carrying more weight than you can handle. I am really upset that this will be the last fallout game will see likely of this console generation and for the foreseeable future and hope when Fallout 5 comes out its the experience it once was. I have had to rely on exploits to fix the issues I have with it such as the infinite carry weight. The carry weight and shooting mechanics alone are enough to force you to use a Strength build so that you have enough carry weight (before I used the exploit) and don't have to shoot much. There is also the damn scaling on enemies that I think is working in the background, If a damn level 50 player with 15 Strength cant come in and one shot a level 10 with a melee weapon then wtf even is the point of levels. There are also areas that are clearly designed around a group of players which causes you to get overrun and killed even though it's also meant to be able to be played solo.

There are bugs I don't need to say much more about them except that I think this is the buggiest game I have ever played. The performance is atrocious on Xbox One X, other consoles and even PC from what I have seen online, which is unacceptable especially on the more powerful machines. Fun with friends, the world can be beautiful at times and hideous at others, the world is fun to explore but can be a chore when you factor in the difficulty spikes I mentioned and the story is there if you decide to look for it.

I really hope Bethesda can fix this game and improve it in the future because there is potential there. Fix your engines flaws, improve it and don't let this same **** happen again to Starfield and TES VI (I will actually be waiting for reviews before I buy those ones),

Sadly this formula does not translate well when you hobble the game by taking out NPCs and shoehorning in unneeded and ultimately worthless multiplayer. My gameplay style doesn't really translate well to playing in a group so after one session of constantly being separated as I meticulously explored every inch of the landscape I set out on my own.

This game revealed something I think I'd managed to completely forget since at least vanilla Skyrim. Bethesda games are not very good without mods. Being forced to care about a pointless thirst and hunger meter that never mattered as both things are plentiful as well as becoming constantly over encumbered as I tried to collect much-needed materials became far too tiresome for a game that was proving within 5 hours to have much less to offer F4 did.

Lastly a hope the community will unite and see how much we were all lied too by Bethesda, using the fallout title and skin and creating a new fallout game does not make a defining game to last the decades, also as a computing programmer myself i understand how difficult it is to create games such as these - its some serious space age faeces people, however this product was rushed for release to compete with the likes of RDR2, which failed worse than the Portuguese polices attempt to find maddy, shocking display Bethesda you should be Fkn ashamed, deserve all the hate that you have received and are still about to receive.

I've been playing Fallout since the very first one and have played every other that followed. Fallout 76 kinda makes me feel like the franchise is dead and it may not be coming back. Bethesda and the powers that be, have basically ruined everything that makes the world of fallout great. This game in my opinion, is simply unacceptable. RIP Fallout.

In the case of Fallout 76 I am inclined to agree with the masses, the game is quite frankly dreadful. As high as our expectations are of the holders of the sacred Fallout universe, so are the new lows achieved by this production.

From the clunky design logic to the tedious game-play, I cannot fathom a rescue for this title. Glitches are no longer a source of humor when they utterly and completely destroy the experience at large. MP for the sake of MP is absurd. “Misery loves company” is not a valid game experience platform. From the very start, it seems to be a beta posing as a final release. The producers are more or less demanding 100% dollars for 25% game.

As a manager of software development teams I can assure you that multiple trains went off of numerous rails during the FO76 SDLC. I would surely love to see the integration test construct that was utilized (or wasn’t as the case may be). Does anybody at Bethesda understand UX? Clearly bad decisions were made from one end of the spectrum to the other. Most often, abysmal failures can turn into great opportunities. BGS has produced top-notch products in the past, here’s hoping they return to what made them great.

Following a server crash in early December I have now been unable to connect to the servers for 2 months & Bethesda support has been useless & often going in little circles. Every update I am sent back to square one with the customer support or told to ask the retailer for a new game code as Bethesda are not responsible for issues with codes purchased through a third party.
The Game is awful & should be pulled, the customer service is worse. In order to get a refund I am now seeking legal advice as the game is not fit for purpose, is not as originally advertised & does not meet the promises made by Bethesda over graphics quality. The gaming engine is the same as fallout 3 & is very outdated, Bethesda are trying to milk a cow that died years ago.
Avoid the game unless you like wasting money.

However, this game is absolutely horrible. Graphics are undeniably subpar, the story is so evidently unloved and throwaway by the the creators, and movement, combat and frame rate are miserable to deal with. It doesn't feel like a video game at all. It feels like a few game mechanics stretched over a large, uninteresting world. There isn't enough motivation to care, seeing as there are literally no characters to care about. If they want you to make your own adventure, then there simply isn't enough fun or interesting things to do or discover. Shooting monsters and surviving have no meaning if I have no stakes to keep me invested. I'm sorry, and I hate sounding like my opinion is the only right one, but if you're defending this game, it's simply because you can't take criticism or contention. This game is simply bad.

Side note: After that supposed to be inspiring narration in the beginning about how only the best and brightest lived in Vault 76, immediately in the character creator screen, there was some little kid over general chat I could hear. "What the fuuuuuh?" Oh yes, best and brightest indeed.

Fallout 76 is a lifeless, shell of a world that had most of it's assets ripped from Fallout 4. It goes out of it's way to take everything that Fallout was and throw it in the trash for the sake of appealing to a fanbase that was never there.

Pros. The Music is good, as usual. Cons. No NPC's. No Story outside of notes, holotapes and exposition shouted at you by robots.

    No NPC's.

No Story outside of notes, holotapes and exposition shouted at you by robots.

Meaningless factions that lead only to busywork repeatable quests such as 'escort this robot' and 'defend this supply cache'.

Shoehorned factions put in simply for brand recognition, despite them making no lore sense in the setting.

    PvP that doesn't exist.

PvE that's stupidly easy, and when it's not easy you're just fighting bullet sponges.

    The dialogue system removed entirely.

90% of the game is inhabited by these fake ghouls called 'scorched', no enemy variety at all.

Ridiculous micro-transactions that manage to be even worse than the creation club ($3 for a virtual door for your house, $5 for some stupid hat).

It's still on the creation engine. Which means all the bugs that existed in Fallout 4 and even as far back as MORROWIND still persist.

You can speedhack the game just by editing a .ini file.

There's no data encryption. Hope you're not trying to hide your IP address from some stalker.

DO NOT reward Bethesda for this travesty of a game.

When I heard 4 was coming, I exploded with excitement, I was so happy the day I had Fallout 4 in my hands I could have died. Fallout 4 was a good game in my opinion, I was only slightly disappointed about minor changes. It was my least favourite I had played so far, but I still loved it.

But anyway, this year, when the 76 trailer dropped, I again, was ecstatic, I stayed up until 3 in the morning (Despite the fact I had exams next day) waiting for any news on 76, and I was really disappointed, but optimistic. I got the power armour edition this Monday, I had played some BETA, and the helmet etc was amazing, but, when holding the little steel book which the game was held in, I wasn't excited. Here's the pros and cons.

(This is what ive gathered from my 8 hours BETA playtime, and my 5 hours full game time)

    Pros:
Finally, a wasteland I can explore with my friends! (if my friends bought this game and weren't warning me about how crap the game was going to be)

    New lore! New places!

Meet new fellow Fallout fans! (Or a bunch of 10 year olds with all the spare time in the world to get power armour, new powerful guns etc, and trample over you when you say ''Hello!'')

(thats about all I can think of for pros)

    Negatives:

Fallout is a Role playing game, you cannot have this without exchange of dialogue. You cannot communicate with anything in game (Grafton Mayor for example) Though Fallout 4's 'Sarcastic' or 'No' dialogue options were lackluster, lazy and bad? Well, Now you cannot speak to anything in game, unless its another player, and theres a 99% they have no microphone, so you have to communicate with emotes. Weak.

Alone. You NEED a friend with a microphone to enjoy this game, otherwise its so lonely and deprived of any substance.

You need so many Caps its unholy. Whats that? You want to fast travel? 16 caps please. Whats that? you want this workshop? 60 caps please. You got killed? bye bye caps! In previous Fallouts, there were caps everywhere, and everything was free. Now I feel like Ebeneezer Scrooge, 'Do I pay 36 caps to teleport there, or do I walk?'

Brain dead story. With no Npcs to play with, your rely on the odd robot or holotape to tell you where to go, or to get an item. Boring fetch quests. Really Bethesda?

Welcome to Little Lamplight! Kids galore. Kids with no mics, roaming around in gangs, killing as they please because they have a **** ton of spare time to level up, get op guns armour etc. Anyone under 14, please go back to Fortnite. This game is suffering enough without sweaty children roaming the map.

Bugs are a huge problem, whether its textures loading painfully slowly (Fallout 3 looks like a work of art in comparison) or the servers lagging, or just some visual bug (A texture not loading for example) Bugfest 76 is full of glitches.

So much more. Vats, settlements, perk cards etc. I could go on for ages.

To summarise, what made Fallout great was its setting, and its genre. RPG. This Fallout is a shadow of its former self, if anything, this makes me want to just go play Fallout 4 again, to be reminded of what fallout is. This may be a good, fun MMO game, but its not a good Fallout Game.
I look forward to Fallout 5, four years away, with a mix of fear, and hope.

Seriously, just buy Fallout 3, 4 and New vegas and all the DLC's sor a fraction of the price, you will have a much better Fallout experience, wait until this thing is in the bargain bin, then you might consider buying it.

(The elder scrolls online was **** Bethesda, take a hint, Turning RPG story driven single player games and turning them into money grabbing, low common denominator sellout MMO's doesn't work.)

So for Bethesda to suddenly just release a ~new~ game, which is basically just an inversion of Fallout 4, scrap NPC storylines, scrap stagnant settlements, delay mods, and just throw everyone into an open world with each other, camping and fighting is bogus for what this game has consistently offered in the past, a personal experience. I don't know why they'd emphasize on the PvP aspect when the map is humongous with barely anyone in each server. Did the devs grasp nothing from the turnout of Elder Scrolls Online?

You don’t have to think beyond surface-level to get involved with Fallout 76, you can’t develop multiple theories inspiring multiple play-throughs. This game is like a post-apocalyptic dust bowl of GTA Online, but at least they even had a campaign lol. For Fallout this honestly doesn’t make any sense. It’s an empty sandbox. Can we at least get our own Dogmeats? Moreover, my heart aches without Curie to walk around with.

Mind you, it took a lot for me to initially dislike game—I am STILL trying to get into it as we speak—I spent months anticipating this new chapter, but now just want it to close. I want the $80 wasted back into my pocket. I still respect Bethesda for prior releases, but this game is an utter disappointment and more or less highway robbery.

I'd cut some slack if this wasn't a series that has worked wonders with creating a survival realm. How do you spend years designing beautiful games, developing a worthwhile franchise to release a flop? No dialogue to choose from!!! Come on. Not even random raider d-bags shouting at you.

What would a DLC even look like at this point? Far Harbor was one of my absolute favorite expansions, but without NPCs, no dialogue, no definitive campaign, no companions, no settlements, nothing that has enveloped Fallout in the past, I don't plan on spending money any further. I am baffled that I feel this way about a Fallout game.

Unplayable, the controls on console are by far the clunkiest I've ever experienced. A friend watched me play and said it looked like I'd never played a video game before. You know when you're a console noob and can't aim/don't know how to use the sticks? He said it looked like that. And it FEELS like that. When in fact ive been playing console games for YEARS.

I am absolutely disappointed because the franchise is my FAVOURITE. But it is completely unplayable. Xbox won't let me refund either. I've never refunded a game in my life, but I REALLY felt let down by a AAA developer.

It's 2018, HOW is it still possible to have such awful clunky controls?! Red Dead Redemption 2 just came out and it plays FANTASTICLY.

How can you do this Bethesda? I feel cheated/upset/disappointed.

The PVP system is shallow and boring and serves no purpose but to annoy you. Players, double my level are able to kill me even though I have not started a duel with them. Overall, between the lack of NPC's and coherent story telling, I am feeling very let down by Bethesda. Expand

Honestly, I had hopes for this game but it is just absolutely terrible and looking at the reviews it's clear that even other long time fans of the franchise feel the same way. It seems that people are only giving it any kind of positive score because they either can't accept how bad the game is, can't accept that Bethesda would make a bad game, or somehow were involved in the project and are trying to lie about the game to fix the terrible scores. As a survival game it fails, as a fallout game it fails, as an online game it fails. This game has nothing to offer anyone. I bought for ps4 but feel that the quality was so bad that it should be noted on all 3 pages for the game. Heck, when I returned the game to gamestop the cashier knew what I was returning before I even pulled it out because he apparently had gotten so many returns of the game. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money or time. Expand

There is nothing redeemable about this game. As a Fallout franchise fan, I have been deeply hurt by Bethesda Games and their complete lack of creativity here. I didn't even have to check the spoilers box because there is nothing to spoil. You leave the vault and search for loot, shooting a bunch of stuff mindlessly and without purpose. They've re-created a wasteland in the literal sense. A gaming wasteland. Devoid of life and hope and light. Shame on you Bethesda. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics/visual presentation- this game looks okay at certain shots and angels, but most of the time the game is either going to look from bad to okay. Please Bethesda update this **** 19 year old engine. The games lighting even though can make things look pretty most of the time ruins Emerson especially when their are god rays coming through rocks and **** so over all the game's looks are below average so a 4.

Audio- if Bethesda is going to nail one thing its going to be the sound track, However i cant give them that much credit considering almost all the radio tracks are licensed but the original scores are actually pretty good, with a lot of the tracks being legato slow symphony. Now the sound effects on the other hand, are okay nothing much to say their so over all a 7

Performance- This game runs like total dog **** on xbox x with a 50 mb speed, the game has tons of bugs and ****ty problems with how teaming up works. running at sometimes 15-25 frames per second. This is disappointment because without these issues this game would probably have a 5 or 4 average. (performance doesnt really matter to me though) im mixed between a 2 and a 1 on this one so a 1.5
Story- there is none so 0
multiplayer- in general i dont want people in my games especially a Bethesda one. 3 out of ten
    over all- fallout is dead.

This is the worst fallout game I've ever played. This game was released as a beta that they rushed and didn't want to finish it. The story is boring, the environment is boring, the voice recordings were boring. This is the worst train wreck that Bethesda has made!

But it’s hard to feel as if you’re truly affecting the world when there are no NPCs to express satisfaction or disdain, or to be directly influenced by your actions. Even killing feels hollow. Some of my best battles in Fallout 4 came when I stumbled across an outpost and found there a raider in there; he’d yell and scream at me as we were facing off. The Scorched, while armed, feel like nothing more than zombies.

The addition of multiplayer feels as though it comes at the expense of Fallout’s memorable story-driven moments. What good is a vast map full of players if they're given little to no purpose? When no other players are around, the game’s world feels almost empty. The attention-grabbing locales and landmarks add to Appalachia's charm, but it's difficult to not wish for living, breathing characters to inhabit it. Post-apocalyptic West Virginia is described as a wasteland, and this term paints an inadvertent but accurate picture of what Fallout 76 is right now.

If you enjoy multiplayer games of this type and are willing to overlook the engine anomalies, you may find yourself rapidly addicted to the game's exploration density and loot systems. If you're easily frustrated by bugs and issues, you may want to sit tight a bit to see what Bethesda does to polish things up, cus oh boy, it could use a bit right now. If you're a fan of the single player, branching narrative the series is known for, you'll want to wait for Fallout 5.
