I bought it on sale because all of my friends got the MW3 Edition xBox for Christmas and we all wanted to play some matches together. Story is weak but the game really makes up for it in fun, we have the all new survival mode which is basically horde mode and i would like to thank gears of war for opening up peoples mind about wave survival. Survival mode is fun but would have been even more awesome if 4 people could play at the same time. The spec ops mission are loads of fun with a friend on veteran. Now lets talk about the multiplayer the true reason for why you bought this game, if you bought this game for the story then sorry but you're a **** idiot. The multiplayer started out really rough for me personally. I got this game on the launch date and expected to be one of the better players, that was not the case. It's funny how people will say that this is a copy paste game but when I, a veteran of the call of duty series started playing online i was overwhelmed by the architecture of the new maps and felt really vulnerable when killstreaks started raining fire down on me and my team-mates. This was before anybody was using blind eye and shooting down the buggers (now alot of people are battleing for the right to take them down). Anyway i started playing barebones to get familiar with the game and cursed the developers for having such overpowered stuff in the support class like the stealth bomber and emp. After a while though i got bored by barebones and decided to give other playlists a change, i was pleasantly surprised when i saw that my team-mates were actually playing the game instead of corner camping and generally acting a fool. So the multiplayer while not that appealing at first hooked me like all of the previous COD games had managed to do. I still dont like some of the multiplayer decisions they made like the strangely unbalanced and cheap supporting class which sounded like a great idea on paper and the incredibly long time that they have needed to get the true elite system in place like the clan challenges that were still not implemented 5 months after release(disgraceful) and here's a thing that really bothered me, when black ops came out the servers were overloaded they said that they had not exptected such activity, now i found this quite strange seeing how the last game in the series was modern warfare 2 and that game sold like hot cakes but i forgave and thought to myself maybe they thought that because it was a new ip in the COD canon but told myself that they would not be moronic enough to make the same excact mistake twice, enter sledgehammer and they pulled the excact same blunder on release, they appoligized and again said that they did not expect so many players and thats when i got a little angry. I know as well as them what license they are working on, black ops broke world records in sale and im not just tallking about in the video game industry im talking about the entertainment industry (movies, music and video games). They did alot of things that pissed me off but for most of the mistakes they did they made up for them and tried to get feedback from the MW3 community on how to better the game. MW3 is sledgehammer games first game and was made in co-operation with the remaining staff of Infinity Ward so please dont call it an Infinity Ward game because it isn't. That beeing said i actually like alot of decisions they made with this one. Specialist killstreaks were a nice addition, weapon levels was a good idea and proficiency also good, i actually dont mind the moab since it rarely happens in a match im playing in, having shotguns as primary weapons again was good the perks were really hit and miss and once again sleight of hand becomes one of the more overpowered perks in the game franchise.

They did not seem active enough in letting fans know when certain features were coming on the elite but this is one of the problems of having to release a new call of duty game every year and thats what fans are pissed about i guess, they dont want games to be released buggy or incomplete and then patched later and i feel like that is a problem that really needs to be adressed within activision, i dont think smart fans mind the wait at all.

I certainly agree that the game as a separate unit from multiplayer is good, specops and survival mode was a unique and great idea, campaign was good enough. I gave this game a 1! because like others im VERY dissapointed in the mltpyr, there is still LAST STAND!"oh wait its only a deathstreak, but u get BACK UP if u can!!??? after so many complaints! this shows they give no importance to their fans and sadly infinity ward are the most popular in the industry. The way the low health is and the map designs...makes matches a hide and seek game, 5/10 camp and the others actually play fair, like others said the weapon damage is unstable in many, and i can never play this game the same way i used to play mw2. Halo isnt the best game nor B.Ops, but the way Bungie & Treyarch listen to their fans is amazingly satisfying. Unlike i.Ward is always focused on their own opinions and making $$$. (Heck Treyarch gave their fans the last DLC FREE to whoever had Hardened or prestige edition!) something that really you guys at i.Ward would not have the heart to do or think of...That said im trying to get my point across not to hate but to express my true thoughts of mw3 and because im not the only one. I just really hope people vote with a clear reason and if your score is 80 or above you have not played mw2 or B.Ops to sincerely judge mw3 the right way Expand

Although the game is robust the Call of Duty franchise is becoming stale there is no innovation here. It is the same game as it's predecessor with slightly updated graphics. There are four modes in the game Campaign, Spec Ops, Survival and multiplayer. The Campaign is about 4 to 5 hours which is pretty average for a modern FPS again you will find nothing new here it has it's set pieces and guided path. Spec Ops returns it can only be described as a challenge mode to people who don't know it can be a lot of fun playing co-op. Then there is survival which is surprisingly fun it's basically fighting waves of increasingly tougher enemies. Finally multiplayer is where the biggest problems exist the small field of few, small maps and bad spawns.
These problems in multiplayer makes most encounters a death trap which will punish new players and irritate the hardened veteran. Now don't get me wrong this game is solid if you enjoy the fps genre but I cannot recommend it to the average gamer. To the call duty fan give it a go make up your own mind but I feel it is going to be the same experience as it's predecessors. To the average gamer there are cheaper, better and more interesting games to spend you're money on. The Call of Duty series needs to try something new instead of cashing in on previous successes before people lose interest. The sad fact is this franchise might have to die before we see innovation.

The single player game is fun for 6 hours. Then it went back to the rental people. I'm glad I didn't buy it, it's like when I buy junk food once a year. OK for a short time, but then leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
The multiplayer is knackered. Bad hit detection, too easy on noobs, no innovation. This has turned into a cash cow and the devs don't care about the consumers. Simple as that

One of the most overrated games of all time. I bought it expecting good things because my friend kept banging on about it. I was shocked when I realised how noob friendly the game was. Every time I got on a decent killstreak I would get shot in the back. Multiplayer ultimately sucks balls now.

Anyone can pick up a controller, spam grenades, spray blindly, and instakill people with a knife in a 'shooting' game and do well. MW3 took every flaw that the recent CoD games have been plagued with and pushed them to their limits. The perks are broken, there are deathstreaks, there are killstreaks that one can die and still get, the guns fire quickly, there's tons of aim assist, and one's aim is thrown off wildly when shot by these spray-happy weapons. There is no depth to this game. Activision knows that a new CoD game needs to be pumped out every year, because these games simply have no staying power. Games like CS and Quake have staying power, because one could play for years without hitting any kind of ceiling. This is why CS has as many players as MW3 over a decade later. This game is perfect for studying if you're a dev and you're interesting in making an FPS game. If one has intimate knowledge of MW3's mechanics, then he knows exactly what not to include in an FPS. I could easily write an encyclopedia detailing the flaws in this product, but I think I'll end the review here and go play some Counter-Strike instead. Expand

But my major problem for singleplayer is well how now everything is an explosion and there are no quiet bits where you can reflect on whats happened. So the explosions feels very numbed and when a certain huge explosion happens you dont care.

Multiplayer, still great though familar. I have fallen out of love of playing FPS's yet I still probably play 10 hours a week on this online. The guns are well balanced, new kill streaks work, new maps are ok, nothing special.
Only thing I would want though (this without payed for DLC), is a couple big maps so I could actually use a sniper...

I put a good amount of time into the campaign, and enjoyed it, but once I tried the multiplayer it just felt like IW just made this game as a sad attempt to make more money. The graphics were a step down from Black Ops and MW2, the guns all felt the same and sounded like they were being shot out of a toilet, the maps all made me feel like puking, and the game types all seem the same.

Campaign - About 5 hours long, but very exciting in every measure. There were some shocking moments in this campaign and it may be the best in the Modern Warfare series. Graphics - Not one of the best first person shooter graphics I have seen, but it's still good to look at. The environments and character detail is good and I don't see a reason for a new graphics engine as of yet. It has the best graphics in the Call of Duty series. The graphics still could have been better and I don't see much difference compared to MW2's graphics. I felt that the developers came off kind of lazy. 90/100(A-)

Gameplay - AI is smart and dumb at times which is alright for catastrophe like World War 3, but playing on Hardened or Veteran difficulty is no joke. The game runs smoothly at 60 frames per second and it couldn't be any smoother. You have 4 modes to play within the game. There's Survival Mode which is in the Special Ops mode, Special Ops missions, Campaign and Multiplayer. The games has enough content to keep you going. 100/100(A+)

Multiplayer - The best multiplayer experience ever. It's good if your a team-oriented player or even a loner. It's for everyone because there's 3 different strike packages and one might be best for you. The perks are better, killstreaks are better and the gun selection is better. There's even theater mode to capture you match and you can upload 30 second clips to Facebook. I don't see why YouTube wasn't an option. I just wish there weren't so many modders and glitchers. I definitely wish there weren't so much campers. 90/100(A-)

Playing Time/Content: There's probably not a week that will go by when I won't play this game. Even if I have a really bad match with a very horrible score, I would still play again until I'm done prestiging. You have 4 modes to play within the game. There's Survival Mode which is in the Special Ops mode, Special Ops missions, Campaign and Multiplayer. The games has enough content to keep you going. 100/100(A+)

    Overall Score: 96/100(A+)

To the people who think this is Modern Warfare 2.5 or the same thing over again, it's not. I bet the people complaining about it will still play it or be interested in it. It's part of a series, it's not suppose to change much.

The campaign is not believeable at times because of how predictable or linear it is with cliches from this genre, but who cares. The one thing that pulls millions of people to MW3 is the multiplayer. Yes, it is innovative for the most part when considering the killstreaks, game modes, and small things here and there to keep that "Call of Duty multiplayer" pace going, but it's nothing new. When being developed it kept a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" idea to the max. If you wanted to be completely critical you can say it's simply Modern Warfare 2 with a fresh coat of paint on it. Fixing the small things here and there from the MW2 game, and chainging a few killstreaks doesn't make it entirely something new to embrace and delve into. All in all, it's a fair game for awhile but then it loses it's fun.

The campaign was the biggest let down for me personally by not having more large epic battles other than the levels based in New York City. The Spec Ops mode was basically the same as Modern Warfare 2's, just with different environments. Multiplayer is almost exactly the same from previous titles, just that there are some new kill streaks, new guns, and new maps. Also, the graphics appear to be of the same quality of the previous titles Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops. The most satisfying thing I took from the game was having Captain Price finally bring Makarov to justice. Overall, it's a good game, but the lack of innovation is just irritating. Expand

Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Studios' spec ops survival mode is an interesting answer to the zombies mode brought to us by Treyarch. The spec ops missions and the multiplayer maps may as well have been a DLC pack for Modern Warfare 2. The guns may have been retooled a bit (also knifing is best it's ever been), but it is largely the same experience, even down to the titles and emblems you can earn. The content is largely recycled from previous games, which would have been alright if it were mixed in with an appropriate amount of new unlockables. To be honest, it's not a bad game, but it's DISAPPOINTING, same maps with a different look, same weapons, only more levels and a normal campaign.
The only true EPIC thing I can see in this game are te private matches.
You can do a lot of things in an interesting (but repetitive) on-line.

On November 8th 2011 a game released and it changed the world. The game I'm talking aboutt is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. The series is known primarily for its competitive multiplayer and its lackluster single-player. Many of us are hoping for a change in the formula but lets see if we got one.

I will start first with the single player. This campaign is similar in its approach as mw2, lots of crazy action moments and shallow characters. The campaign is short and takes about 4-5 hours to beat and subpar story and character development. The campain has you taking over many different characters from different military organizations and you are battling in many different fields of war such as NYC and France. The story takes place directly after the events of mw2 so it is reccomended to play mw2 first if possible. I dont want to go too much into detail with the single-player as I dont want to reveal too much. So basically if you buy this game it will do you no harm to go through the single-player just exspect to see lots of explotions and action scenes with a forgetfull COD story.

The newest addition to the COD series is a new spec-ops survival mode which has you taking on infinate waves of increasingly difficult enemies. The mode allows you to purchase weapons with custom attachments, equipment such as c4 and frags, and also riot shield teams and perks all bought with in-game currency you earn for getting kills and completing wave challenges. What is good about spec ops is there is now online matchmaking so you will always have someone to play with. There is also a new spec-ops rank completly seperate from your competitive rank that allows you to have the oppertunity to buy better gear in-game. The mission mode has returned in mw3 letting you and one friend take on a number of different missions where you also gain xp for you spec-ops rank. Together both the mission and survival spec-op modes add days of exciting content to a game that already has alot of content.

Now to disscuss the thing that many of you will be spending days, maybe weeks playing, the competitive mulitplayer. There are 80 levels per prestige level and there are 10 presitge levels giving us tons of hours of replay value. There are alot of new additions to the competitive and they all make the core experience of online vary depending on how you like to play. Instead of just selecting killstreaks like in mw2, in mw3 you have to choose your strike package whice lets includes assault which is for gamers who like offensive killstreaks. There is the support package that is for the gamers who want to support their team with UAV's and other items. One thing that makes the support package different is the kills you get stay even if you die making it ideal for inexperienced players. Completing an objective also adds to your killstreak. The final strike package is the specialist package ideal lone wolves and kills are rewarded with additional perks. You may choose a seperate strike package per custom class. When you presitge you gain a prestige token which you can use to purchase additional custom classes, or unlock gear straight from the start. This makes each time you prestige more unique. There is also alot more gear you can take with you instead of flashbangs, now you can take trophy systems and other gear. A new major addition is weapon levels which is how you unlock new attachments for you guns. It is a seperate level for each gun that levels up by getting kills with it, and at each new level you unlock attachments, camo, or weapon proficiency like less recoil or faster melee. Please note that this is a COD game and in most occasions suffers from extreme balancing issues and a very large hit box. The shooting mechanics are good and the graphics are on the lower end of the spectrum compared to its major competetors. The game also feels too noob friendly and extremly easy to excell in. The game is also filled with many people who like to camp and cheat. There is also an attachment for the m14 assault rifle that is semi attomatic but makes it have less recoil when using a rapid-fire mod. The game is fun online and it had alot of value but if you were expecting a change in the formula, its not here. The game is unblanced in its core and the series needs an overhaul. Activision needs to change the series because it is killing itself. It may be good enough for the casuals but the hardcore are losing interest. You need to change the series like you did with COD4 or else it will be too late. The world is waiting for change, please Activision, dont make us wait any longer. With Black Ops 2 blow us away because this game just didnt.

With that in mind this review is based purely on the multiplayer Split screen and online. IMHO its a below average FPS, discounting the fact that its a repackage on MW2, the multiplayer is clunky with lag being more a deciding factor in victory than any relevant skill, there are crazy balance issues. the level system is boring and tedious especially when combined with the "gun levelling system" which is just a stupid filler idea to prolong game play, but the worst problem by a mile are the killstreaks, in this FIRST PERSON SHOOTER u get killed more often than not by a helicopter gunship or a bombing run, missile launched from a drone or some other weapon system completely unrelated to the term FPS, in the average game after doing some counting i found i get kill only 15% of the time by a gun, the rest is some form of air strike. To sum it up its too much bells and whistles and not enough FPS. If you want a FPS that is just that a First person shooter i would not recommend this game, if u want a skill less frag fest with enough helicopter gun ships, stealth bombers and remote control missiles to replace the car as the accepted mode of transport. more explosions than people and a game decided by lag not seen since the days of dial up then MW3 is for you, i got my copy for £25, but i had to pay full retail £44.99 i would have been so annoyed. See the reason they don't add anything good or improve anything bad is because of YOU. Yeah you the person who buys the game because all of you give them your money they have no need to make the game better because they will still get your money so the cheaper it is to make it, the more profit they make. An easy way to know this is the fact they spent less on MW3 then on MW2, if you can honestly accept the same iteration of game every year and consider it good then to be honest the gaming industry is simply going to die with the loss of creativity and good games. The single player campaign is the first in the Modern Warfare series that I didn't find interesting, not even in the slightest. The sound effects of the guns are too similar to each other and it feels as if the guns you shoot have no power to them whatsoever. The explosions are either over-the-top, or small and insignificant to the point that it looks and feels cheap. The A.I. is also terrible with either super-human killers or enemies that walk towards you, waiting for you to mow them down. The online service, what COD is known for, is not done well at all this time around. There is no advantage for doing well, the game doesn't reward you accordingly, and the entire community wants to cheat instead of play the game fair. The Spec Ops missions aren't as fun this time around, and they feel rushed. The graphics are touted as better, but this is not the case. The graphics seem to have a grainy filter over them, to give the effect of a "war-hardened" game. This game was rushed, and it shows. With the first two installations of the MW series warranting a 10 and 8 from me, respectively; this game falls very short of that. No longer fun, not creative, and not balanced; Modern Warfare 3 is one of the worst games I have played in a long time. Don't waste your time, money, or life on this game. Not worth the $60 price tag, and I wouldn't pay $20 for it. Terrible, terrible game. Expand

I enjoy that they scaled down the difficulty just enough so that Veteran would still be manageable if you were very good at the game. Also, the Survival Mode is a very nice addition to spec ops, even though it feels like they copied Halo Reach's Firefight mode as well as Gears 3's Horde mode. Nonetheless, that was very well done. But other than that, the other two modes were done so poorly that it actually makes me wonder if the development team put any thought processes into these. The campaign is utter **** It's too short to be a good campaign, and the fact that they removed stealth missions (Not stealth segments, I mean balls-to-the-walls stealth missions, like All Ghillied Up, Cliffhanger, and Vendetta) is just sad. Now all there is is just straight up enemy grinding. That's not what I want to see in a campaign, I want these grind missions, because every FPS pretty much needs them, but I also want the epic stealth that Call of Duty has done so well before.

And... I don't think I even need to touch on the multiplayer. It's pretty much just Modern Warfare 2.5 with a few new guns and even ****tier maps. I mean, sure, the killstreak setups were nice, with the assault, support, and specialist, yeah, and it was fun using some of the new guns, like the PP90-M1, despite it being very OP, but really? Recycling the same Modern Warfare 2 engine, making the maps even WORSE, and overall just completely ruining the multiplayer? Really, Infinity Ward? You went from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, one of the most influential FPS' to date, to this? For shame.

The campaign is absolutely beautiful. Some graphic problems are present and that is essentially why it doesn't get a perfect score. The story is an excellent continuation of Price's story, and the missions are exciting and gripping. I played through on veteran difficulty and it was extremely challenging and felt realistic and accurate. There is very little I would change about this game up to this point.

    MULTIPLAYER: 2.5/5
Okay, this is where problems begin. Firstly, for Xbox 360 users paying for ELITE for me is just a money grabbing ploy. The map packs in Black Ops were ridiculously priced for the amount of content, and this is even worse. Considering we will be seeing Treyarch's newest addition within the next 6-8 months, this is not a prudent investment for me. Secondly, the game mechanics are unbelievably absurd; hardcore players will find their rockets and grenades useless against Ballistic vests; Shotguns can kill at greater than 30 meters; No recoil on high-level SMG's. Essentially, the multiplayer does not play to people who use strategy, it plays to random chaos. Kill confirmed is a nice addition, but the ricochet system results in your death for other people's stupidity. The hardcore system in Black Ops was much fairer as team-killing resulted in getting kicked after 2 offences. Once you drop a martyrdom grenade and your teammate runs over it you will know what I mean.

Overall, good to average. Brilliant campaign, bad multiplayer. That's it.

Pretty much everything felt the same as the previous COD games. The kill animations were still rag doll, the same sounds, the same non-destructable environments with the same measly amount of environmental bullet damage. How cool could it have been to pull out your light machine gun and totally shred the environment? Instead we have same same superficial bullet holes that guns made back in COD4. How cool would it have been to have dynamic environments? You air strike a building and then have 3 different types of rubbled building that would appear in its place for the remainder of the game. How cool would it have been to shoot somebody and have them fall off a ledge and come crashing down with a THUMP in a cloud of dust or nail them with a shotgun and have them fly backwards crashing into a table or wall? But no, we're stuck with the same old 1997 animations.

The maps were probably the biggest disappointment. There wasn't one pure sniper map in the game (nothing even close to wasteland, afghan, or derail). The maps didn't seem to cater to team games (having your team pinned down in a firefight with the other team); they were all just run around solo and get shot in the back. In cod4 especially, it seemed like there was a sense of friendly and enemy territory and I found myself respawning with my team who were engaged in battle a lot. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that everyone got UAV so there was a better sense of where the enemy was. IDK, i'm starting to ramble...

In short, I just thought they needed to innovate more instead of relying on the same old engine.

This game was a huge let down compared. The first reason I say this is because, even though the guns have never really had any "weight" behind them, I still felt I was shooting a gun and thought this was specifically well done in WAW however in MW3 especially with some of the guns it just feels as though you are clicking a button to kill someone completely killing the immersion and enjoyment out of a kill.

Also every single year the cod franchise tries to add new things to spice up the same formula much like pop music instead of tinkering with the core gameplay itself being afraid they'll mess it up. This time they added gun proficiencies and altered the perks and a few other minor things. Now its almost like there are too many variables for the developers to be able to alter so leads the game to be unbalanced as there are so many combinations. This makes for a frustrating multiplayer for serious players and casuals alike. Third of all the games are quicker online, you die more quickly kills are racked up faster. Im fine with that concept but not how it has been introduced. Firstly when Im playing I feel way more sluggish, Im guessing this is to compensate for millitary realism but in all honesty you don't play cod to feel like a guy in afghanistahn you play because you want to feel like a bad ass soldier out of an action movie shooting guys in the face. I feel so slow and so much less smooth compared to mw2 its like im being left out of the game and I feel that Im just a bystander to the game itself.

The maps are awful generic pieces of crap in all honesty. They have become smaller and smaller throughout the call of dutys due to design laziness and to create combat realistic situations which once again we don't care about if the game isn't fair or fun. There is no safe way to get from one of a map to the other even though they are so small as they are ridiculously open leading to camping being the tactic low level players use as they find it impossible to beat higher level players.

The gameplay and the shooting itself hasn't changed, quickscoping which I enjoyed and thought did take some skill (IMO) has been altered however Im on the fence of whether this is a bad thing or a good thing as snipers were OP in MW2.

The campaign is a hollow corridor shooter which puts you in the same situation in every mission with a different cinematic and new textures. The only way you can use the environment is explosive barrels and you are breadcrumb lead through the missions by your commanding officer whoever that may be. Overall this game is a big lousy corporate sell out which should of been much more innovative and brave in its design. Greed has gotten the better of the franchise to a point where it provokes no feeling when playing the game, its literally like standing in my house doing nothing to me.

2/10 - a ruined franchise for no good reason.

I played the first COD EVER (PC game originally) and the game was wonderful... After the WWII series, there came MW1, fantastic! Was a great game. Then came the crappy games, MW2, total let down. Now MW3, what to say, well! Repetitive Multiplayer gameplay, the game styles are the SAME, graphics are 3-4 years old (OUTDATED), maps are crappy, i could do better on the Black Ops map Editor and then import it to XBOX360. This game is not the Call of Duty series i remember. It is now a money trap for kids. It is a money machine. All they want is easily earned money. Map Packs they are making you pay for 15$ is not even worth a 3$. The time it takes to create them is about 2 days. They really steal people. Infinity Ward saddens me, since MW2. Not a joke! Black Ops was crappy, and was still better than MW3? You're kidding me? This game is not a 2011 game. It is a 2009 quality game. Please, do not buy. Get Battlefield 3, which is QUALITY level game. Also there is Medal of Honor, which is very good for the Campaign. Like i said, i am not a fanboy, Battlefield 3 was the first Battlefield i EVER played.. And i think i will stick to this franchise, next release. XBOX360, PC or not. Seriously... AVOID buying. Tip from a very old gamer (since about 1995) ... Thanks. Expand

MW 2.1, pretty much sums up this game. Spec ops feels unimportant, and survival is an obvious tac on. The multiplay has seen little to no change, other than new weopons/ killstreeks and some custimization options. It also seems as if the ENTIRE mapmaking team decided on one ***ing theme: Lets put some buildings in a flat area. Seriously? This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alright, let me be clear, if this was an independent game I would give it a 4 or 5 but as a closing game in a trilogy it comes with certain expectations. Those were not met. at all. MW2 was bad, but not anywhere near the level that this game was. Just to hit a few quick points: a coordinated simultaneous terrorist attack across all of Europe, a Russian Navy, a naval invasion of NYC, kidnapping the presidents daughter to coerce him (there are safeguards against this in the Russian laws), the peace treaty being signed with no repercussions, the vigilante justice of Makarov (he would be captured, tried, and hung), the unbalanced multiplayer, the underpowered airbased killstreaks, the broken perks, the support killstreaks, awful spawn system, etc. These are all the things wrong with the game, I don't feel like typing for 20 minutes to elaborate, but look them up if you need to. I'll admit some of spec ops was fun again, but I don't buy games for 5 minute side missions. Expand

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
