Mw 3.0 is a massive disappointment. The level design in this game is the poorest attempt by any call of duty, survival mode is terrible and just bad in general the only good step forward are the kill streaks.. That is seriously the only good thing about it. It's not worth a 0 out of 10 on it's own but compared to what it should be then yes it deserves the 0.

They failed to fix nagging issues from MW2 which have now carried over and are in fact worse. The balance of weaponry is pitiful in my view and the maps are absolute crap. When I first put in the disk I thought I was playing MW2. The graphics are the same, the weapon unbalance is the same, and the killstreaks are still overpowered. The campaign was predictable, quick action, stuff blowing up, and cinematic moments. Honestly, buy Battlefield, I'll be selling my MW3 soon, add me 360: Chr0nic STIDs Expand

A 3 hour campaign with a terrible story. Retread multiplayer still with the same pipsqueak 12 years olds. Much like the Madden series, a complete lack of innovation. Do yourself a favor and spend your money on a game like Saints Row or BatmanAC or Skyrim were the developers work to earn your 60 dollars.

The game is plain bad. It's sad that with each game since CoD4, this franchise keeps going backwards. Lack of dedicated ranked server is awful. The biggest change when compared to MW2 is weapon leveling, lol. They just copy-pasted 90% stuff to their "new" game

Deeply disappointed! I have played most fanchises of Activision who has - unfortunately degenerated to a pur cash generating machine completely neglecting their real clients, the gamers. Modern Warfare 3 is at its best a Modern Warfare 2 1.5. Activision, and this is for sure will not see me again.

Buy Battlefield 3! Enter war and feel it.

The quality of this game is not a factor-- the fact is that it's been done before. This offers nothing new to the market and offers no new directions to strive towards. Regardless of whether or not this game is good will not hinder the sales. I have extreme doubts upon anyone waiting for reviews to buy this game. If you're a fan, then you'll buy it.

I personally don't see the appeal.

I've tried and I've tried COD MW3 but, there is nothing innovative about you. This game lacks the online game play of BF3 and it's predecessor Black OPS. I'm going to rate the overall game with graphics, game play online and campaign, and network reliability. Graphics I give a 2. Campaign game play is a 4. Again, the graphics are dated, the AI is not very smart, and almost all the weapons sound the same. Network reliability I give a 10. I don't think I had a dropped connection yet. However, with graphics like that, there isn't much to render. lol So my overall score is 1.5 because the network connectivity is a non factor. What a letdown. A zero is warranted for this game only because of how similar it is to a game made 2 years ago. The COD series is headed down the same path as sports games who add only a few minor features to their games so that they can keep some ideas for next year. This game should be DLC...not an entirely new piece of software.

Ok the campaign is good and like being immersed in your very own action movie but multiplayer is where most people are going to spend their time and it just doesn't live up to the standards set before. The maps are all very similar in feel, closed close combat maps with few open spaces and half the size of some of the MW2 maps, when playing with 12 to a team it is incredibly cluttered and teamwork is impossible. Larger maps with an emphasis on teamwork would have been an innovation I could have lived with but it's the same old running and gunning and the victories go to those with machine pistols and sprint. The much touted new weapons etc don't make that much a difference really because the maps are so small you only really need an auto and a quick trigger finger.
Comparing it to BF3 is a waste of time as they really are totally different games, comparing it to it's predecessor MW2 or Black Ops more appropriate and sadly MW3 doesn't stack, MW2 is still a superb game and I regret trading in my copy of Black Ops for MW3.
I would have been happy to pay 15 euro ($ 22) for this as an expansion but paying around 69 euros ($ 95) is a bit of a rip off to say the least.

This FPS has just released? In 2011? Let me laugh !! There is no evolution since CoDMW... Just a new campaign, heavier textures and new weapons, not a new game. More than $15 for this, it's just a joke ! There is no game development and no expensive work to release this game.

Call of Duty is a prime example of one of the franchises that rely on its previous titles for sales. With the most recent release of Modern Warfare 3 being a title that is equivalent to a large DLC package. To add on to this, Activision has already announced a new Call of Duty title release for 2012, in which I will be very surprised to see any type of innovation included. Call of Duty made its major break into the gaming world with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This is the first time the franchise underwent major changes, which in turn brought major changes into many shooters that are seen today. Now it seems that each consecutive Call of Duty title is simply giving us rehashed content, with the exception of Modern Warfare 2, which should be considered a legitimate sequel.

After this franchise went mainstream and captured a large fan base it decided to simply feed repetitively off of these fans. If you were to put up a screenshot of Modern Warfare 3 beside one of Modern Warfare 2, most people could not tell the difference. The developers of this game even decided to directly import a building from Call of Duty 4 into Modern Warfare 3, you can take a look at the video in the section to the left. This game simply added a few new weapon attachments, some new maps, changed the game modes a little, and slapped a new title over the front of the case. This is the perfect example of how certain game franchises are ruining innovation in the industry. The only thing that the Call of Duty franchise has changed since the release of Modern Warfare 2 is its marketing campaign, which is the real reason the title is still so popular.

I'm going to make this quick but I'm going to make a strong point. Call of Duty is everything that is wrong with the video games industry today. I'm not going to tell you that BF3 is better, because I don't play that either, and the only CoDs I've played is CoD2, and the original Modern Warfare. Anyway here is what I wanted to say. I'm not going to tell you that BF3 is better, because I don't play that either, and the only CoDs I've played is CoD2, and the original Modern Warfare. Anyway here is what I wanted to say. Since when is a game acceptable when it has one race violently pitted against another, since when is a game acceptable to have you slaughter thousands of innocent people in broad daylight, since when is it acceptable for a game to have you mercilessly kill a terrorist in prejudice, without the right to a fair trial. Since when is it acceptable for a game to brainwash millions of our children into thinking that war, racism, and murder is the norm, that is an enjoyable pastime that each and every person should enjoy. Tell me Infinity Ward, when is it value for money for a campaign in a game to last less than 5 hours for the average player, since when do games have a final "boss" which consists of QTE only, since when do games care not for gameplay, and lead you through a script like a movie, care not for story and put you through the most generic terrorist attack story 3 times over, since when do the composers put barely any effort into their compositions... and the game I'm describing still sells 3.6 million sales in one day. Call of Duty now, to me is not a game, it is a piece of media that pushes the War Agenda for the country of America, it is the epitome of buying a brand, or a name and not a product, (i.e. Apple,) it is the perfect way to desensitize our kids, and make them believe that war is the norm, and that a hero is a man who kills another man in the name of patriotism. This game ensures that we put our future, and by that I mean our children, one step further away from our dreams of the likes of World Peace, or a unified world, because this game, and yes, many others like it have prepared them so, and put them in the state of mind that this is the right thing to do. I remember when a game was about traveling through an unknown world, meeting new characters along the way, battling inhumane beasts and aliens along the way, choosing how to change the world for the better along the way, all whilst being asked philosophical and psychological questions along the way, and making me a better person along the way. I don't know what to say in closing but I will say this, CoD is not a video game. Expand

Every facet of the game is recycled, save for one or two new game modes, which are just slight variations of other game types that add nothing to the experience. The few new perks only enhance the lazy, fearful method of camping in the multiplayer, making it all the more easy for campers (read as 99% of the community) to play the game their way, creating an unfair playing ground for people who want to actually play. Adding even more crap to the steaming dumpster pile this game is is the fact that almost all of the maps feature cluttered messes littering the world, making it impossile to get around with any sort of sense. I guess learning where all the little pieces of junk you can trip on can help, but doing so would not be easy or fun. The game itself is not unplayable from a coding point of view, but the way people play do.

Not totally the developer's fault, Modern Warfare 3 leaves a lot to be desired. The game feels like a precursor to the original in terms of playability, and adds only features that grant cheap players the ability to play even more cheaply. Overall score: 2 out of 10

I didn't get my copy until about 11:00 AM on November 8th, and the was STILL quite a long line at my local Gamestop. This game is simply the same graphics as MW2, extremely weak story line, and basically nothing has changed on the multiplayer. It amazes me that all the major review agencies, i.e. IGN, Game Informer etc didnt have the grapefruits to give it an accurate review, but I guess at the end of the day its all about $$$$$. And now MW3 game developer Glen Schofield is asking people to go on this site and give it better reviews? Hey moron, how about you make a better game. This hasn`t bitten them yet, seeing as a lot of COD-players are very, very young. Too young to stand up and say "I will no longer let myself be milked dry like a cow. I will no longer let this company ruin gaming by repackaging the same game over and over again, therefore being a bad example for the rest". And even when the fans are a bit older, they still have ridiculously low standards, considering they like replaying the same broken game, over and over, paying 60 Dollars every year.

Save your money and just pick up a copy of MW2 or Black Ops. They are much cheaper and pretty much EXACTLY THE SAME GAME. I never understood what people meant when they said, "COD sucks. Its the exact same game every year." I do now though because I have bought COD for the last three years. I enjoyed COD: MW and two years later MW2. Then I was convinced to buy Black Ops. I played it but for not as long as I played MW and MW2. I will now only buy this game every two years so to not get burned out.

Game Summary = Run around in a circle, in a flat square box of a level and shoot people till you die. Rinse and Repeat.

Skip COD: MW3 this year and go for Battlefield 3 instead.

Can't comment on the campain becuase it gets boring quickly and havent really played it.

To end on a good note though....I really like the new Killstreak system. There are no three types of Killstreak systems. One is the normal one, two is one that persists through death but with weaker killstreaks, three is one that lets you get more perks with kills rather than killstreaks.

MW3 is the usual game of war. Every year we play the same game. I do not take it anymore. There is need for some innovation. Not only in structure but also in graphics.

Same game. Every year. Masterpiece? Please...

The American economy is in crisis, the moral fiber of our society is crumbling and THIS GAME is the way hundreds of thousands of people choose to spend their free time. If the world ends in 2012, we will have asked for it.

They obviously recycled 90% of the code from MW2. It is obvious now the impact Infinity Ward leaving had on the development of this game. The fact that I stupidly purchased the additional $60 "Elite" subscription, which I cannot even access yet because they "didn't anticipate the interest" (yeah right) was a total waste of money. The very few new things brought to the table in this game are not worth the purchase. Hopefully the DLC they release will contain new weapons, new game modes (even old game modes would be nice, where the hell is my favorite mode hardcore headquarters??) but for the most part this game is just another stark example of the industry milking a franchise to death without innovating anything. It's obvious CoD has become the next Madden franchise, and i'd imagine that had a lot to do with why Infinity Ward developers all resigned in protest. Looking forward to whatever game those Infinity Ward guys end up making on their own. This will be the last CoD game I ever purchase. Expand

More proof the "pro" critics are being bought for favorable reviews. I tried getting into this one. I really did. But it boils down to being the same game as the last three before it. The maps aren't noteworthy at all, and the single player campaign is cheesier than ever and feels forced, and is finished in about 3-4 hours. For claiming to be the most anticipated new title for 2011, all it feels like, and essentially is, is a $60 expansion for MW2. Save your money.

I'm not writing a full **** review.Why?Simple.It's one thing that they don't make a new engine for the game. But the fact that HUD, a lot of the reload animations, the way the guns handle, and just the way the game itself feels...Modern **** Warfare 2.All of it.Seriously.Plus, I am **** sick of MW2's gameplay feeling anyways, so this game is boring as **** to me too.Do yourself a favor andI'm not writing a full **** review.Why?Simple.It's one thing that they don't make a new engine for the game. But the fact that HUD, a lot of the reload animations, the way the guns handle, and just the way the game itself feels...Modern **** Warfare 2.All of it.Seriously.Plus, I am **** sick of MW2's gameplay feeling anyways, so this game is boring as **** to me too.Do yourself a favor and save $60...oh wait.I just read that 9.3 million copies were sold.Great job, **** a way to go.Well, I bet about 8 million of that was 6-13 year olds anyways, so I guess that doesn't really count. However, the rest, be ashamed of yourselfs. Activision recycled the same buildings from COD 1 and 4. MW3 is simply a recycled MW2 and COD 4 bundle, all with a new logo, single player, and a $60 price tag.

If you are getting this game for the online, don't bother save your money! Map design is terrible and it all feels the same from the last ones but even worse. Infinity Ward/Activision/that other company I dont really care about created quite an impressive singleplayer experience. Sure it's over the top as hell, but it was really surprising to see the effort put in to cinematic setpiece destruction. The story is quite farfetched and over the top, yet it delivers what fans would expect. The multiplayer:

Ok this is the huge gripe I have with the game. There was all this talk about overhauling how MP functions but really all I've seen is increasing the amount of carrot on a stick farming the game requires. Seriously, to place requirements on ATTACHMENTS just adds so much more of a grindy feel. Black Ops had the right idea, where you levelled up and unlocked guns and all you had to do was purchase the attachments you wanted. NOW you have to level up to get the gun, then level up the gun to get the attachment. WTF is that? That's a level of uneccesary farming stacked on top of going prestige.
CoD Elite? wow it's the same thing as Bungie's stat tracking big deal, nothing new.
Graphics, I find the game to look a great deal more polished than Black Ops which is good. But it really is no Battlefield 3/Crysis/Uncharted 3/etc. If your not expecting anything jaw-droppingly nice then I guess the graphics wont bug you. I have to wonder though, is reusing the MW2 enginge AND developing for 6-7 year old consoles really worth the sacrifice anymore?

Sound: Really piss poor weapon sounds, just a complete recycling of MW2 sounds, which I disliked. Good thing about it though are the sound of footsteps which resonate quite clearly.
-OK another good thing IW did was put a MUTE ALL function, which is perhaps the greatest idea EVER for the CoD series. THANK GOD for this mute all feature

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
