Not quite the COD-killer that it's made out to believe, especially since it tries to (unsuccessfully) incorporate COD formulas. First, the servers must be working, second, you must be in a team that is somewhat coordinated or better yet, playing with friends who know what the hell they are doing. If you're on a team that's filled with CoD kids not knowing their roles and just running around slaying, it can be quite frustrating. The game is also rather slow paced, and the environments are not as destructible as before. Being able to customize your loadout inside the match is a neat feature. Expand

A great game, but severely over-hyped.
If people felt like MW3 was MW2.5, then this game is Bad Company 2.5
The campaign looks amazing, but falls short in the end.
Multiplayer is good, but i personally dont like how slow it is, you can win a match without even firing you're weapon which to me makes it not a shooter, but a war strategy. Good game, just far too similar to the last BF title.

Online play is a blast due to everything being destructible but the single player mode is terrible. If I had to chose between this or MW3, I would go with the latter, simply due to the story and the extra game modes available.

DICE has truly out done themselves on producing such a game. I love how you can pick between a 3 shot burst m4 and a full auto m4 and even switch them both to semi auto. The vehicular warfare is flawless, with much to choose from in customizable gadgets and weapons. Now for what i don't like about this game, yes the campaign is complete garbage and there was really no destruction which has always been a big factor in battlefield games, and i can't even recall if there was a point where i got to drive a vehicle in the campaign(besides the tanks). what the crap DICE? and this new origin crap along with the $10 online activation codes? if 4 people want to play on their own xbox live accounts, (WHICH IM ALREADY PAYING $10 A MONTH FOR) have to spend $30 extra dollars to play. So many bugs, i can go prone and hide half my body through a wall, i can crash into a helicopter full speed with my jet, knock it out of the sky, and keep going, and even just randomly commit suicide while just walking or flying my jet. Absolute garbage, i have always been a bf fan because it has always brought more to the table than any call of duty game ever could. But this game has alot more to dislike than to like. My original rating was a 9 but now after me really assessing the situation im going to give it a 4. Expand

Graphics are good, Single player is trash, multiplayer is okay, if you like running across a huge map looking for the fight! Tanks are cool, Jeeps are cool, Jets are wack, Helicoptor is wack, controls are too awkward. People dis MW3 but run across a big map just to gun fight in a small space, just like MW3 lol.

This game has plenty of potential, but limits itself by having a poor leaderboard design (plenty of cheaters atop as well) and very few game modes. From the network issues when playing either the campaign (I know right?) to the insistent "unable to connect to server please try again" when playing multiplayer are very frustrating when all I want to do is blow stuff up. For me my biggest complaint is the lack of balance in the matches I mean who the heck wants to go against a level 45 (or higher) when your a level 12?! Not only are they superior to playing they have unlocked weapons that make yours look like a pea shooter. while yes you have the camp that claims this is a good thing, for the causal player it detracts from the enjoyability of the game. As a final note I am not a COD fanboy and played BF2 for a very long time and is a game I very much enjoyed. PROS:
    Graphics
leveling system with lots of stuff to earn and unlock

    CONS:
no balance system in the matches (level 1 vs level 45)
    network issues galore

Not just did I anticipate this game more than Skyrim, but I was so excited for the three months before release I could barely take it! When I got the beta, I realized that it was a lot like call of duty, but ignored that fact as operation metro was the only game mode without vehicles. Then I got the game, and the first few games of multiplayer didn't spark any kind of recognition of one of the first fps series I have ever played. Then I went to singleplayer, which in it's own way, is sad. The quick time events and fast paced action sequences show that dice tried to copy call of duty, even though they claimed not to think about what their competitors were doing. The singleplayer went too fast, althought it was quite fun. This game is full of glitches though, which weren't a problem, but were annoying enough.

Then there was co-op. This sucked, although that's partly my fault. Every game I joined paired me up with an idiot who either doesn't know how to fly a helicopter, or is just not bothering to help in any way. I eventually made it past fire from the sky by flying the helicopter myself and being aggressive without crashing the damned thing. I haven't even finished co-op because I can't figure out the silenced sniper mission, which I hate because they weren't at all clear on what the hell I am supposed to do in this mission. If co-op weren't so hard, I would finish it in 20 minutes tops.

Finally there is the multiplayer. Observe the destruction of buildings crumpling down on your enemy, or the planes crashing into the helicopters that shot down a guard post that held a sniper who was shooting a bullet deep into your team mates neck. A beautiful sight to behold, especially when your jumping off a thousand foot drop. Unfortunately, this is not what happens.(although the planes crashing into helicopters thing happens, and it sucks) Instead, if you wanna observe that pretty little mountain far off in the distance, you better go back to 1942 if you wanna climb it. And you better duck down before you miraculously take a bullet to the head. You can't mess around in this game, there are no multiple choices, and the whole sandbox aspect of the series is gone forever. There are no multiple paths through the giant mountain, and since the maps are so small now, there is no mountain anyways. There is always a small section of a city, with only two or three alleys to sprint through, no flanking points. Back to karkand did a good job with this, but the full game failed. I don't like the environment because I can't enjoy the graphics of the enviroment before getting stabbed through the chest or noob tubed by a giant rocket launcher. I can't figure out this game after 40 hours into multiplayer, and therefore it isn't a good battlefield game. Either you get 1 kill 10 deaths and 1000 points on helping your team, or you get 20 kills 4 deaths and 1000 points for helping your team. I don't know how they did it, but dice screwed up this game for me.

One final thing. Battlefield 3 has the greatest graphics of any video game ever created. Yes, you can change minecraft graphics, and Skyrim looks good. I played skyrim, and battlefield graphics are so much better it's ridiculous. I honestly don't understand why people say that it doesn't have the best in graphics, but so be it.

This game kind of sucked. That's my rating.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Am I the only one that played the singleplayer campaign? The story was the worst and most insulting narrative I've seen in a long time. First, it's in large part a rip off of COD:MW (which I'm not saying is a great or better game). They use the same disjointed jumping from character to character. Second, the vehicle sequences were terrible. You spend an entire sequence not flying a jet or not driving a tank. These on rail portions are terrible, not exciting, and tedious. Third, what CO would start a war with Russian in a third party country? That did happen, right? American soldiers attacked a superior Russian force. That's not just bad tactics, it's plain dumb. Forth, the quicktime events were sloppy and thrown in. Fifth, the story is two hours long. Sure, that's a movie, but I bought a videogame that cost 6 times a movie, so I want 6 times the entertainment. Finally, and most absurdly insulting: my character, an American soldier, murders his CO and fellow American soldier to help some Russian guy that he just met and could have been shooting at him minutes ago. Even if your CO is an *** and an idiot, you protect your own. I tried standing there, refusing to fire, and the mission failed. That's ***. I'm sorry, for that the game loses all marks for singleplayer. Multiplayer was fine if not crowded and at times confusing. Expand

While some of the maps are slower paced especially on the console versions, it's smooth and balanced gameplay definitely makes up for it. Now the negatives, I don't have many gripes with the game except with the campaign. To be honest the campaign in my opinion is mediocre and unoriginal. While it does have some interesting missions the story itself just has you not caring in the end, still it's definitely worth a look because of it's realism. Boring characters, basic objectives, and generic bad guys. The story just feels bland and really has no replay value. The Call of Duty campaign has more of a story than this. The controls feel very "clunky" and a bit confusing. I am so used to Halo and Call of Duty controls and I was hoping that Battlefield's controls will feel just as smooth. Many people might disagree with me on this one, but the graphics in the game look off. I can't really explain why, but something about the graphics does not look right. Last is I absolutely hate the mulitiplayer. The maps are too huge, and I am always confused what to do. The multiplayer is to complicated for me and it just ruins the experience for me. The reason why this game is a 7 is because the game isn't terrible and sometimes I find it entertaining. Maybe I am being hypercritical about this game because I am comparing it to two major franchises, Halo and Call of Duty. Ask me my opinion after my first few weeks on this game, it would have easily been a 9 a hair strand off 10 as the servers could do with fixing.

My favourite thing to do was conquest on operation metro. Good times were had on this map, the best being the battle for (flag) B as i called it, the way i saw things was you could either use smoke grenades to cover going into the center stairs and coming up behind them or risk it with the corridor (of death) on the left.

But as you can see i'm rating it a 2, so what happened well first off you must realise that at the start (i pre-ordered the game) everyone was the same level and leveled up together near enough so it felt like a fair fight most of the time.

Then EA just went screw it, lets do rent-a-server and so then people used it to make private games with there friends and leveled up to 50 with the best weapons (i was level 30), server moderators would kick or instantly kill you if you played the game and killed them or there friends. But still it wasn't to bad even then maybe just an 8 rating but then people started doing a glitch on operation metro were you jumped on a player onto an archway kept jumping on the archway until you went into the ceiling, were the only way you could get killed from there was standing to close to the wall and an explosion hitting the wall.

The moderators were on that team of course and done nothing (even going as far as to ban anyone from using grenade launchers and RPGS) there could be a chance to the rating if EA patched it quicker but it took them 3 months to patch it and somehow it still didn't work and the glitch continued.

I quit battlefield 3 then with bad moderators, bad official servers, over powered weapons when the DLC came out and EA trying to force me to pay the price of the game again for premium or a server for month, I've recently returned to battlefield 3 because i'm getting battlefield 4 with an Xbox one for Christmas (didn't really have much choice) and because most people had gone to battlefield 4 for the first time in 14 months i enjoyed the game, it was too little too late i'm afraid. I hope battlefield 4 is better (no rent-a-server hopefully)

I tried to review this game with as little bias as possible since I was an absolutely huge fan of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. While not exactly a direct sequel to Battlefield: Bad Company 2, using that as an excuse for why the game manages to fold in on itself in so many facets of gameplay is just stupid. To start, the single player campaign probably tops off as the new worst Battlefield campaign that I have ever played. If you've ever read my harsh review of Battlefield: Bad Company 2's single player, imagine that, but somehow setting an even lower bar. Maybe it's just difficult to make an interesting and entertaining single player campaign in military shooters and I just don't realize that. Regardless of the reason, calling the Battlefield 3 campaign atrocious would be an understatement, believe it or not. The campaign reeks of generic firefights and oozes with cliché on-rails sequences that fall under the "been-there, done that" category that the Call of Duty games have become known for. I would even make an exception if these on-rails sequences were any good, but the majority of them are uninspired and lack that "wow" factor that at least Call of Duty's sequences possess. In summary, you should not be buying Battlefield 3 for the offline aspect. Throughout all of the experiences of Battlefield 3, it seems as if DICE will shamelessly rip off anything COD-esque in an attempt to rally more fans to their cause. Because of this, Battlefield has lost a number of crucial elements that make a Battlefield game a Battlefield game, and I'm not just referring to the campaign, but I'll get to that. Battlefield 3 also introduces new cooperative missions that can be played with a buddy but as is the trend, is nothing more than a hodgepodge of ripped off missions from Modern Warfare's Spec Ops. They're only worthy of your time because they unlock new weapons to be used in the online multiplayer, which is always a good thing. Obviously, the online multiplayer is the meat and potatoes of the game, and fortunately for the most part, it manages to provide a solid experience. The sound effects still blow my mind with how incredibly realistic and intense a firefight on a Battlefield game can be. Running through a seemingly-deserted building with bullets whizzing past your head, gunfire echoing throughout, and the roar of helicopters and jets in a dogfight above can be intoxicating. Its moments like these that allows Battlefield 3 to really shine and create that certain addiction that can be had. The controls are as solid as a shooter can get and the weapons all feel impactful and exciting to use. However, despite these positives, there's a laundry list of flaws that the online possesses. One of which is the fact that players can now go prone, which another feature stolen from Call of Duty. The prone mechanic allows players to camp even easier now and with such huge maps, it can be difficult to pinpoint that guy that just keeps sniping at you from underneath a bush. The mechanic has no place in this style of multiplayer and simply results in tarnishing the experience. It seems as if the entire online caters to lesser-skilled players. Map designs this time around seem to encourage camping and the refusal to pursue objectives during game modes such as my favorite, Rush, is rampant. Vehicle hording is as strong as ever, with many players simply waiting around for certain vehicles to respawn. DICE has also made it much more difficult this time around to destroy vehicles, with tanks being able to absorb 5 or so RPG rounds for exploding. Not to mention that you can only choose 1 of 3 types of anti-vehicle rocket launchers, making it even more challenging to down that pesky kid constantly flying around in an assault chopper. Camping as also been made significantly easier due to certain new additions in equipment. In an attempt to nickel and dime in the way that COD's Elite system does, DICE allows players to "rent" servers for a fee and alter the rules and settings to their liking. This would be totally fine if not for the fact that when joining games, you are thrown into one of these altered lobbies 99% of the time. In fact, I have not played a DICE server in weeks. You can "favorite" certain servers and rejoin later but it seems like every time that I attempt to rejoin a server, there's never anybody in it. Buying the online DLC gives players cheap and unbalanced weapons, which definitely hurts the experience as well. Overall, the Battlefield experience online is alive and well. While I still have a blast with it (occasionally), it's difficult for me to whole-heartedly recommend a game that seems to cater directly to players who insist on camping. However, if you're a Battlefield fan, it'd still be hard to go wrong with a purchase. Expand

The weapons all play well except for maybe the shotguns that seem kind of pointless due to the big size of the maps. The graphics are great, and i highly recommend installing the texture pack on the mulitplayer disc, or else it looks like crap. As far i am concerned, this knocks any cod game out cold as everything just works so much better and now that private& totally customisable servers are available, the game has received a fresh breath of life. Dice listened to the fans and gave them what they wanted (a rarity these days) and with new content planned at regular intervals between june 2012 & march 2013, this behemoth game can only get bigger and better, even adding battlefield premium (akin to cod:elite but more powerful). This game will continue to go from strength to strength, whilst cod fans will have to rely on their yearly november rehash / rerelease of the same game again and again

I wouldn't mind if EA had a more innovative single player to taunt Activision with, but alas both the single/co-op modes were pathetic COD clones, even down to the imperialistic Western tones. However the mulitplayer is where Battlefield has and will always excel at, truly the best multiplayer experience I've had since UT2004 and GOW1. The various modes, free dlc if you have the limited edition, steep but highly enjoyable learning curves makes this multiplayer game of legendary status. BUT EA once again sought greed by inserting the money making rent a server, thus leaving many p***ed as endless players got booted from matches for no reason, or games ended early due to hosts being spoilt brats. Thankfully EA restored the DICE servers due to fan anger, however that cheeky move along with the inferior COD clone single/co-op modes makes the overall package a seven! Expand

No, this is not the best FPS ever but no, this is neither the worst. The game is actually decent. Multiplayer is excellent at the best. It's hard to describe the positive sides of the multiplayer. All I can say that when you can form a good four-man-squad you'll get a ton of fun. Vehicles are lovely as always- Negative side is easier. Some of the maps are boring and at least one of the is just bad. Operation Metro map is something I despise. It's a long pipe and it doesn't fit in the game. The menus are complicated but most of all, dying is annoying. Yes, I understand that dying is part of the game and that's not really what I'm aiming for. The point is that when you die you have to watch almost forever that kill cam(word I learned from CoD omg). It's not even a killcam as it doesn't show the kill. It just shows the killer running around the map. The time you're waiting for respawning could've been used for changing kits and weapons. Oh and you still can't leave the server between rounds.

Singleplayer and co-op. I probably shouldn't talk about them as Battlefield series have always been a multiplayer franchise. But because they're part of the game, they're part of the review. Let's just say that the campaign is just well dry. There's really nothing to grip. I don't know if the player is supposed to care about the characters but at least I didn't. The campaign consists of series of random missions and honestly, sometimes I didn't even understand how they were part of the game. It's like DICE tried to squeeze everything into the campaign. Though I admit that the jet mission was kinda cool even though it was pointless. Co-Op wasn't that interesting either. Haven't been able to complete it actually since my buddy got tired of it too. Good thing is that you can play co-op with random people.

All in all, Battlefield 3 is a decent game. It's nothing extraordinary but a Battlefield fan should definitely at least give it a try.

This game is a masterpiece. It could have been perfect with a better campaign or additional game modes, and also the interfaces are a bit uncomfortable by the time to create your classes or choosing your weapons, but for the moment it's without any doubt my favourite game. COD to me is a cage match of pissed off players literally sprinting around pumping as much lead as possible at one another, but its fun..its entertaining I get it. The thing I absolutely adore about battlefield is the fact you have to play it with a mindset of I can die at any second from any direction. But you can't just run and gun for the most part in battlefield, you have to use your senses, your brain, out smart your opponent. Its not a competition to see who can spray the most lead in hopes of getting the kill, your success falls on your accuracy, your choices of what to do & where to go under heat, and playing resourcefully. Its not just a point your reticule on your opponent and shoot, the bullet trajectory and range is very impressive in this game. Although the maps are smaller and the number of players smaller as well in the console version, which i can understand considering the hardware most computers have today compared to the 360. The game gives you lots of options for server functions and filters to find exactly the type of game you are seeking. The only issue i have ever had with BF and this falls in with many games out there...i wish there was a little piece of software in the game that could safely spawn you into the game without being tossed in between a fire fight or in front of an enemy player. The multiplayer is a great experience and free dlc with the limited addition doesn't hurt either. The co-op lacks depth, but its still a fun playthrough with a friend and overall the game is worth its price. People waiting around for vehicles to respawn and destroying it if they don't get it. There is really no problem with the game itself, it is more the people that play it that suck. Overall, Battlefield 3 is a good game. It repairs the flaws of the bad company series while upgrading on the good things, however, there's still some good with bad. While destroying a tank, chopper, or jet won't always render you a kill, it's also nice that the pilot of the vehicle has a chance to escape

Overall, Battlefield 3 is a good game. It repairs the flaws of the bad company series while upgrading on the good things, however, there's still some good with bad. While destroying a tank, chopper, or jet won't always render you a kill, it's also nice that the pilot of the vehicle has a chance to escape before death. The graphics are amazing even in multiplayer(where the bad company series seemed to have dumbed itself down a bit). The explosions are almost realistic and the destruction of buildings is almost jaw dropping to watch, yet feel a bit limited compared to the destruction in bad company series, in that it's much harder to blow a wall out. That said, it's also a bit more realistic in that aspect. The bullet drop and having to lead targets makes the combat aspects of the game more enjoyable for players like me that understand you're not gonna shoot the guy running across your screen half the map away in the head if you try shooting where he is instead of where he'll be. My issues with the game fall under seperate aspects. The coop. is weak at best, and the campaign feels a bit cod'esk in it's linear playstyle, yet it's still less linear than cod, but more so than the bad company series, still, having a campaign at all in a series that with 1942, vietnam, bf2, and 2142 never had a campaign, it's nice to see they put themselves in that realm and did so in a way to make them a strong competetor against the fps giant that is the cod series. With multiplayer my issues aren't with graphics, physics, or anything like that, but fall more in line with the guns and sites themselves. For instance a sniper will have to compete with bullet drop, where as a player with an assault rifle, shotgun with slugs, smg, or lmg seem to have much less issues with bullet drop. The sniper must aim above you to hit you at a certain distance, yet that guy with the saw can aim staight at you from the same distance and still hit you. it's almost rediculous how accurate weapons like saws and 240s are yet weapons like m4s and m16s are less accurate, which in my experience is just the opposite, bipod or not. Then you come into sites such as the unlocked site for each weapon which is labelled as a night vision sight, yet gives you the view of a thermal site, but yet is still blinded by flashlights and laser pointers the way and actual night vision site would be. It's a bit confusing. Perhaps one of the patches that dice releases should fix the bullet drop of non-snip weapons to be realistic, and perhaps they should give night vision sites the green hue of actual night vision and perhaps add thermal as another site that isnt' blinded by lights and lasers. Oh, and what's up with being blinded by flash lights in broad day light, while standing out in the sun??? Anyone else catch that?? Overall though, battlefield 3 is quite an enjoyable game besides the campaign and coop. As a matter of fact, I can't bring myself to keep playing the same old boring coop rounds over and over again in order to unlock all those weapons. The only one of them that really seems worth it anyway was the rex. Apart from that, I've already pulled several hours out of the game, and still have yet to make a dent in the amount of weapons, gadgets, perks, and vehicle unlocks their are in this game. So i'm knocking off half a point for each of the issues that I have with it. -0.5 for bullet drop on non-snip weapons(not realistic), -0.5 for sites and accuracy of weapons(not realistic), -0.5 for a short campaign(though it's suprising to me for a battlefield to even have a campaign), -0.5 for the weak at best coop. Overall 8. I enjoy it quite a bit, and with the back to karkand map pack we're not only getting 4 new maps, but 3 new vehicles(probably tied specifically to these maps), and 10 new weapons. Lets just hope they bring back the sip line from the battlefield 2 expansion. That would put a whole new twist on a game like this.

The X-box/PS3 experience online is a mixed bag- The pros are the combined arms feel of combat, the variety of maps and game modes, and most importantly the player base. The cons are the unlock system, the 24 player max, and the unlock system.

The highlights of the game occur when you are in a squad of people who are all talking to each other as you move across a map- in my case we took cover in a concrete building only to have a tank burst through the wall. We scattered, shouting "TANK", as the world exploded in shattered concrete and rebar around us. Those moments make the game worth the score alone.

The downside is that new players will find themselves staring into the dark, or into rubble-strewn streets, through iron sites while veterans are peering back through a bipod-stabilized, thermal-vision rifle with a heavy barrel. You'll hop in a tank to rumble across a battlefield with your basic canon as a tank on the other side of the map is firing image-enhanced guided munitions on you. There's a sense of unfairness about it.

    1. Large maps...yeah, yeah it slows down the game sometimes. Guess what that does....makes it more real. More room to move means more room to flank, over bound, shoot and communicate.

    2. Better weapon physics and customization.....bullet drop, loss of kinetic energy at range, shot guns that work past 50ft. For example you can get a 8x scope on your M16, but be prepared take a few shots before the guy goes down.....5.56 doesn't have knock down power over 350 yards. The fact that you can take a AK-74M and add a actual ACOG to it (once you've proved your worth with the weapon) is just cool.

    3. Varying MP sessions....Rush, fast paced survival fest that's a little TDM, a little capture the flag. Conquest, HQ style but the flag placements make you have to choose whether you stay and defend or chase down the next one. TDM......nuff said. Then, to top it off you got squad versions of this all.

    4. Vehicles.....powerful tools that aren't too overpowering and can be taken out with good team work, plus they all drive different and all have their strengths and weaknesses. (i.e. the M1 can take more hits but the T-90, or 72 cant remember, coax can almost shoot straight up for air defense).

There are some issues that have to be worked out like getting in and out of some rooms on some of the maps and debris/object that should be easily scalable or movable being impossible to do either to. Overall though the game delivers a solid shot in the arm for the FPS genre of gaming will probably spend 90% of the holidays in my Xbox.

DICE put forth a great effort for this title. I will start off by saying that this title has been riddled with issues since launch. Issues with multiplayer have been rampant, from servers being down, to voice chat on PS3 being choppy, etc. The takeway from these issues however is the fact that despite how frustrating they can be, I simply cannot justify putting the game down. The graphics look a lot better and brighter, while at the same time the darks are a lot darker and ominous. There is so much depth and customization involved in the multiplayer that the game is hard to put down. Do you feel like sniping, healing? Perhaps a tank is more your style, or a jet, or a helicopter? Grab a gunner seat if you can't pilot. Or perhaps you want to boogie around the landscape with little more than 4 wheels and a prayer. Got that too. The real value in Battlefield is that there are so many strategies and ways to approach a specific map or firefight, and all of them are pretty damned fun. I have no tried single player yet, but I have never cared about single player in any Battlefield game. To me, it simply goes against what Battlefield began as; a great multiplayer experience that allows you to conduct what is arguably the closest demonstration of a war scenario to date. Finally, does it stack up with Modern Warfare 3? I don't know, it depends on how much you like Modern Warfare 2, because that is all that 3 is. Developer DICE rolled the dice with this game, and overall I think time will show they chose wisely with this endeavor. Expand

The only exciting missions were when you played as the Russians. The characters were not strong enough to make a deep connection with. The coop was fun, but not that many missions. The coop can be beaten in 2 hours on the hardest difficulty. There was really no story to it, but it was fun to play with a friend. The online like i said earlier is great. It is very similar to bad company 2, with additions of new vehicles, weapons and a couple new game modes. Both COD and BF3 are great games. I personally like COD better because of the campaign. Multiplayer however goes to BF3. I am sick of the childish reviews and bashing of both games. Both EA and Activision make awesome games. Yes COD is the same game every year with a couple of new features, but so is every other sequel in a series. Expand

Since battlefield has always been a multiplayer game, the singleplayer is somewhat lacking but that's not to say it isn't good. I thought the story was well done and the quicktime events were alright. I would have liked to see a more Crysis-like campaign but obviously this game out-shines any other when it comes to mulitplayer. In a market saturated with CoD games every single year, BF3 is something new and exciting. Vehicles; land, sea and air, and massive online battles, (24-console, 64-PC) make it stand out. Teamwork is also emphasized much more than other shooters and being 1st in a game doesn't mean you have to most kills thanks to being able to heal and revive team mates, repair vehicles and give out ammo cache as well as capturing points for your team. If you have a PC that can run it, BF3 will blow your mind graphically and gameplay-wise due to DX11 and the 64-players in one game. Expand

The reason i have given the game an 8 is that it loses a point for its so-so campaign and another one for its lack of destructibility which for me is one of the main draws of the series since Bad Company, i dont know if its just the console version but there is a lot less destructibility in the multiplayer than in Bad Company 2 taking away the potential feeling of joy as you blow through a wall and stab somebody in the back. I have never played a battlefield before, but this one has blown me away with it's online quality. Not only does it look fantastic, but it plays great, and I love having not only destructible environments, but they are huge. My complaints which make it not a perfect 10, is the lackluster single player campaign, which seems like a bad ripoff of call of duty, and doesn't highlight the strengths of this game, nor train you in vehicular combat (especially the difficult helicopter and jet), so you must learn while playing online, and probably helping your own team to lose. A disappointing corridor shooter. Give us freedom to find our way through the battlefield please, don't make us watch the cool thing you can script. Thank god battlelog isn't here like the pc version, multiplayer matchmaking is easy and quick as a result. Graphic and sound are wonderful.

It's been about 3 weeks after release, I want to share some opinion about this game. First I would say DICE did a great job on the frostbite 2. Well optimized. The sound is amazing, is probably the best sounding game ever made. The single player is fair, I didnt play through I stopped campaign in the middle to start multiplayer. I LOVED the battlelog interface, its a revolutionary way to unleash the power of HTML5. its very user friendly, play with friend has never been that easy. And to all the broswer launch haters, get yourself more ram man, 8GB is planty enough for it... Expand

There is going to be a large community evolving over it's multiplayer for quite a long time and the game plays well. The disappointment is the glitches that occur during the game and some missions in the single player are boring at times. The graphics though are Fantastic. The engine runs well with the sounds and visuals and is basically sometimes the reason why people buy this game. If you want a strong multiplayer then grab a copy, but if you want it for the single player experience then it is recommended to buy a game like Crysis 2 or Call of Duty because it lacks in entertainment. I COULD NOT ENJOY THIS SHOOTER MORE THAN ANY OTHER! This and CRYSIS 2 have got to be the best shooters of the year! For the simple reason of trying to innovate! So hands down, this deserves maximum score, because in the end, this is what we want more of, and this is what we should encourage for the direction of interaction in games. Expand

From playing the existing games in the franchise avidly, Battlefield 3 is simply awesome and the best one to date; the unlocks | endless, playability|intense and exciting, attention to detail | incredible and hearty. But more importantly... it's fun and enjoyable, its what playing these "games" is about. Creating a squad with your mates and driving around co-operatively in the vehicles, consistently reviving your buddy because he's a noob and doesnt understand what a M14 MOD sniper does to flesh. Of course, there were teething problems with the game upon day 1 of release... the X360 server browser connectivity was shoddy but almost immediately resolved via Twitter updates and back end fixes.

I have left single player out, as to be honest i'm a Battlefield 'true' enthusiast... which means i play online with my friends and opponents.I get the distinct feeling Single player was only made so that it didn't leave HUGE holes in the franchise in terms of what it can offer to a broad market, so yes for me that gets 0.5 hours playtime.

All in all a Fun, Addictive, Well made and passionately created game that will get hours or enjoyment from me.

BF3 is epic in every way, it combines what made BF2 the best PC game of all time and adds on that, with tons of new stuff, awesome maps, amazing graphics and sound, and that BF game play that we all love and bringing back 64 players the way it was meant to be played.. BF3 is the only military FPS you should drop a dollah on...

If you're looking for a great single player campaign you're out of luck, rent BF3 or pick it up in the bargain bin. If you're looking for the best online multiplayer action then BF3 is your game hands down.

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
