Bad game, its community is full of socially deprived, deluded virgins who think there's a war between games. They're just compensating because they've never accomplished anything..

It's like they took time and effort to make this game horridly inconvenient in every aspect. The most glaring issue is well, the glare. No game before this one has actually caused me painful eyestrain. To add to your inability to see is a screen blur when shot at and between the three you may as well play with your eyes closed in a lot of cases. More inconvenient is the menu. I could argue it's scientificly designed to be as unfriendly as a spiked sex toy. It's nothing like the old menu and if you want any kind of information on these random seemingly unknown weapons they pulled out you have to go to an even more cluster***** menu to get vague descriptions on what something does. Along with other call of duty features is the spawn killing (just died 8 times in a row in the only spawn available to me.) And the fact that a gun is never seen firing at you. Every death seems to occur from behind. I'm thinking stark industries has added some teleporters to directly behind me because no enemy has yet to NOT shoot me in the back or directly to my side. It's full of what you like in a call of duty er... battlefield game, but still atrociously inconvenient in seemingly every way. Expand

Multiplayer- the main thing for me is that the maps feel like they were designed for big 64 player PC battles. On XBox it feels a little slow and uninspiring with so few players per map. Player movement is also slightly sluggish- with less customisation, the inability to leave a table at the end of the match and some early server issues proving to be frustrating. For BFBC2 fans, expect less destructibility and (IMO) graphics too..

Multiplayer can still be fun, however it just doesn't seem like it has a lot of long term appeal.

All in all I would recommend to hire before you buy, and also to try the PC version in lieu of the console version(s).

Very big let down. The campaign is horribly boring which we all already know and agree on. I'm not a big fan of the multiplayer either. I seem glitches, jerky and hard to locate enemies on the map. The graphics are nothing special. Vehicle don't make up for quality 1v1 shooting. Alot of BF3 fanboy will be happy with my review, but it is just my opinion. Their are many better shooters out their.

A game wanting to be the best in a genre it serisouly lags in. New engine was a nice try but a huge fail overall. Still nothing new in multiplayer. Same old vehicles, huge maps, boring game modes that are truly unrewarding.

Boring. Everyone agrees, even the fanboys that the campaign mode is terrible. Multiplayer is a little better, but the graphics are weak and gameplay is slow. I sold my copy on ebay and have been enjoying the game of the year....COD MW3. Take it from a soldier, COD MW3 as good as it gets!

    - recon useless - no camouflage for recon, silly scope flare giving your position away
    - ugly gray/bluish color cast on some maps

Most of maps are tiny, graphics is ugly(contrast bloom hdr way over the top) and hurts your gameplay and eyes, difficult to spot enemies because of too much contrast and and too dark shadows.I was big BF series fan owned BF2,BF2142,BFBC2 but BF3 totally sucks, tiny maps make you feel you play Unreal Tournmanet and not battlefield.Disappointment of the year :(

There are even some parts of the campain that have been ripped straight from Call Of Duty! And then Battlefield 3 said: Above and Beyond the Call.. but Modern Warfare 3 has sold over 2 times the copies of Battlefield 3. So beat that. Also there is just a lack of multiplayer modes. The maps are way to large, and it makes the gameplay slow. I think that even the singleplayer and multiplayer of Bad Company was better then the whole Battlefield 3 game.

Didn't buy the game because the reviews described it as average and incredibly buggy, I am only giving this game a zero because of the battlefield fans giving MW3 zeros which is by far a better game made by developers far far more talented than DICE. Also I like multiplayer thats fun and requires huge amounts of skill like Halo.

But personally I think its more correct to say, 'they USED to be only about MP'. Now it has a single player campaign too... Its not about what the past games have been, its about what the current game is. And if they're shipping single player then folks who play it have every right to criticise it, if they don't like it. And imo, its far worse than any of the recent CoD / MW sp campaign's, which themselves were too linear and on-rails for my gaming tastes... .... I just hope that all these positive reviews don't cause any other publisher to look at BF3's reviews and think, "wow gamers really love that on-rails, linear Michael Bay lazy ass interactive movie **** Because I think most folks would agree, (even those that did only buy for MP and are enjoying the heck out of it) think its a complete waste of development time and money... Barely any of the reviews are taking into account the shoddy SP experience and that's a huge problem for the message it sends out to publishers, who're obviously going to churn more of that crap out because they know they can still get good review scores regardless. All very impressive visuals and sound but when it comes to campaign, that's where everything goes wrong. The story takes itself too seriously, the boring jet ride, repetitive gameplay, just another story about USA vs Russia as if we haven't seen that before..."It doesn't matter!" A fanboy cried out "Graphics and Multiplayer Rock!". Ah, Multiplayer which is the best part of the game, I had fun with the beta but it went me tell you this. I can't play on Multiplayer, why? Because the code didn't work and I contacted Amazon and they contacted EA and EA said they said I will have to Buy it for 800 MSP. As if. The code's are getting pretty pathetic, at least in Bad Company 2 I could play online without the code but I won't get the free maps, I'm happy with that. This game is a huge disappointment. The campaign is painful, seems like COD stories changed up. I don't like COD and hate to see this trying to follow it. Cheap deaths are constant in the campaign, and horrible auto save points. Boring cut scenes are common as well as sequences where you have little control over what happens but need to press buttons to execute an action.

If you're not a big fan wait for this to go on sale for the PC.

W...T...F? Pretty annoyed at this point, but thought I would try single player campaign instead. Stupid button mashing events, some non-spectacular firefights, and then the game stopped. I was trapped on a roof with my team, and the game just stopped progressing. The objective stated "Defend squad members" or something like that, but nothing happened for about 20 minutes, everyone just sat there and I couldn't find anyone to shoot. Stupid glitch I guess, but at this point so fed up and irritated I turned the game off and went back to Forza 4. Awesome game, btw. Highly recommend Forza 4. A beautiful game that epitomizes what online multiplayer should be about.

The singleplayer was only ever intended to be a tech demonstration and to judge it on that would be akin to judging Black Ops on its singleplayer, which was awful.

Still looks beautiful and handles very well, mantling is very useful and all weapons feel weighty and have recoil so happy about that. At the time of writing i'm gonna say not a fan of night time missions of which there have been a few as its not doing the Frostbite 2 engine justice as when you see the crumbling city in daylight, thats what its all about.

Multiplayer is as hard as ever but vehicles are very cool and the fact that you can spawn in them is even better. Very intense but again players are very hard to spot due to level of realism so can become frustrating if your not that good (like me). Never the less awesome game.

The gameplay is top notch and feels fresh compared to other shooters, with the destruction and variety of vehicles there will always be something new happening. Not to mention the ton of unlocks which WILL keep you playing for months trying to unlock everyone. Battlefield 3 has the best audio ever in a game and will scare you multiple time when a rocket whizzes past your head or a wall is blown up while you next to it, the sound will never get old and will keep you focused. The Multiplayer is obviously where Battlefield 3 game time is spent and DICE have made sure the time is a LONG time with 9 maps and 5 playable modes there is a map and a mode for you. Conquest being the classic and favourite it sure is the most hectic with jets and helicopters flying by which will be taken out within minutes by a stinger, T90-A's and Humvee's rolling down the hill which will be taken out by a javelin. No vehicle is overpowered and there is always a way to succeed. That is what Battlefield as a series is about, CHOICE. There is always another way to do something, for example if you come across a M1 Abram you could run hoping it won't pummel you with it's weaponry or you could take it out with an RPG-7 or you could take it out with an AT-mine or you could take it out with a Javelin. That is only a few ways for just that situation, there is never just one way and every way will be your little Battlefield moment. The Singleplayer in my opinion is very good and is the best war game story but because it is not the reason to buy Battlefield 3 I won't go into it much but say there are some pretty epic moments. On to the bad part there are a few glitches but they are minor to the ones in the beta, which most are gone. There are a few server issues at the moment though they will most likely be sorted out soon. This is definitely the game to get this year, it will certainly keep you glued to your T.V. for quite a while. Make sure to have some tissues on standby. Expand

That right there is going to take away so many online players for them, dumb move. Things I am frustrated with. On team deathmatch, spawning system is horendous. You run into the same issues while playing online as you did in BC2, mechanics running behind tanks making them invincible, camping flags, etc. The single player is vanilla flavored, nothing special and you have played this story before in any shooter that has come out in the past 10 years. All I can say about BF3 is that it's the most over hyped game of all time. Besides the graphics the game is not that great. I don't think I've played a game that's set at 30 frames per second since the PS2 days and that really drags the game down. The campaign is okay but I can't stand multiplayer. I wish I would have rented this game like I did bad company 1 and 2.

its a good game - very plesantly surprised with the new game from EA - but the bottomline is that the MP format isnt just as cool as other FPS games (read CoD) - so while I have good things to say about EA - and I have bought BF3 - I will go back to playing CoD. Perhaps wait for a BF4

Boring short campaign. Multiplayer would be good if it wasn't for the horrible community. Frostbite 2 is a great engine but it doesn't show in the console version. Horrible textures and pop-up are cover by glaring lense-flare. installing the texture pack doesn't actually help. It adds lag to singleplayer. If you enjoy shooters, it's worth a rental.

This game sucks on consoles, it's amazing on PC. I'm writing this because of all the noobs posting zero's on MW3 which is the far better game. Don't buy it for consoles because the multiplayer is laggy and the frame rate is garbage.

At least i know MW3 will be good. There hasnt been a terrible COD game.. ever. And i've played it since the beginning. Two words describe this game. Friggin BORING! Nothing wowed me, nothing got me to the edge of my seat. I didn't have those "holy sh--! moments like COD has. The jet flying absolutely bored me to death.,, the graphics aren't as good as i thought they would be. Some maps they are spot on, but some other maps, it looks like your playing a regular xbox title. The enemies look stupid and dull, no detail, no intelligence. I can't even see enemies far away but apparently they see me and start shooting just me. Why did it feel like i was the only one fighting in my squad? Cut scenes are boring and make no sense. The guns have no detail in them(they all looked the same to me, only with different sights and cross heirs) The explosions are real lame. It seemed like in single player, BF3 tried to hard to smite COD by copying them. I recall blatant attempts in single player to try to mimic some of the COD style of gameplay. Multiplayer didnt do it for me either. I figured, BF3's multiplayer must be better.. and it just wasn't. Nothing wowed me about that either. I'm not waiting for EA to fix the glitches and the server. They shouldn't have rushed it then. I wish they delayed it and worked on these things. I loved the BF franchise and this game made me miserable. I've never given COD a perfect ten, because even COD has a few things they could've done better with every game. But even saying that, COD still will be king of the war-shooters, and i'm sorry to say BF will still be second best. Sorry BF3 fans. I just couldnt put up with this shooter atrocity any longer. The singleplayer is not that great and it is comparable to COD in aspects of linearity and blockbuster type action and yet I'd say superior writing and atmosphere. CO-OP is a bit better with 6 missions that are pretty fun with a friend.

What it shines with is multiplayer. You just don't find a shooter with team orientated framework built into its design anymore with the last one I remember being Team Fortress 2, although it's not that heavy. It's balanced and skillful with deep weapon progression and long term investments in unlocking new gear and ranks. Vehicles are an important force and staple on the field, but not instant death machines and they also require some work to use properly. You can be 4 different classes and all of them have helpful items for your team and you play in squads and feel part of a unit instead of people in a map killing each other.

I love Battlefield and the unique experiences it offers in a sea of modern shooting games. You just won't find anything else like it unless you like simulators like ARMA.

I can't think of a way to finish this, but I really recommend picking it up.

Anyhoo, while I think the graphics, environmental destruction and map size are impressive, honestly the framerate simply torpedos the whole thing. Movements are extremely herky-jerky because of it making shooting targets, especially those at range, far more difficult than it should be. Quite frankly, I have no idea why this doesn't bother EVERYONE. MW2 had a ton of problems but the ability to simply track a moving target smoothly and accurately was not one of them. Also, because of this, it makes seeing small movements at a distance almost impossible which is kinda important considering the sheer size of the maps. Also, there is a lack of feel with the gunplay... I don't feel connected to the weapons at all. It's sort of same way Black Ops failed but to a far larger degree. I really wanted to like this game and there are certain aspects I do like such as the teamwork needed to succeed but in the end, it's a hollow experience that falls short. Now I'm left crossing my fingers in hope that MW3 won't be the same kind of "run around in a circle shooting each other in the ass" quasi-Halo crapfest that Black Ops was.

Gameplay is the typical BF gameplay. Controls are jumpy. I can't truly depict how poorly this game was made. It might be true that the graphics on the PC version are terrific (for those that can afford the graphics card), but the xbox version is just pathetic.

The game was overhyped...and now people are starting to realize why EA refused to let the game be reviewed before release.

First of all, let me start by saying that I like this game. I enjoy the COD franchise as well, but for different reasons. With that in mind, this game was a slight let down. I enjoy the COD franchise as well, but for different reasons. With that in mind, this game was a slight let down. I did not set my sights very high after the beta. Though I know DICE has a good track record for fixing problems with their games, I also know it usually takes them a while to do it, usually about when interest in it begins to wane because of the problems they took too long to fix. I didn't expect any great upgrade to the graphics from the beta, as there is only so much computing power in an XBOX 360, so I have no real complaint about them. They look pretty decent, better than Black Ops, in my opinion but there are some issues with framerate bogging down at times in intensive areas.

I would certainly not recommend this game if you are looking for a thoroughly engrossing and long campaign mode, as you will not find it here. The voice acting and visuals are quite stunning, but the story is contrived and rather short. I think it took me about 4 hours on a medium difficulty setting. But really, who buys this kind of game for the campaign mode anyway.

Multiplayer ...I don't want to use the word 'shines' but it is still quite engaging and fun. I find myself enjoying it more than I have most Call of Duty games at first, at any rate. The maps are well-designed, massive and quite nice to look at. I have not run into many technical issues. I have had little problems connecting to games, and I have only been disconnected once in several hours of play. The problem with the console version is this: It should feel like a battlefield. It doesn't. The limited server size makes it feel much closer to other FPS's. I am sure the PC version is amazing with 32 people on your team, trying to do stuff. But that is the biggest reason it falls short, in my opinion. It should feel like a full-scale war on these massive maps, but it just doesn't. It feels more like an objective based COD match than it should.

Overall, I feel it is an enjoyable experience and I enjoy playing it. I hope to one day find a squad that communicates and actually tries to accomplish something, but I won't hold my breath right now, heh. As a note, the reason I compare certain aspects to COD is not because I am a fan of the COD series. I use it as a reference as that is BF3's closest competition. There is my opinion of the game, take it for what it's worth to you, it is just an opinion.

Graphics, think of Crysis 2, only I would give BF3 the edge due too the amount of things the graphics do, you will see tree's moving with the wind, blown over by explosions, and buildings crumbling. This game only suffers due to the hype it had, I was expecting a game that pushed consoles beyond what we had seen before. Obviously they didnt deliver on that, but they did deliver a game I believe pushed it to its limits. If your an avid COD player you probably wont like this as much as COD. Is it better than COD, that depends on the player. But if you want a war game that most closely simulates real war, I dont think you will find a game that comes closer to it on the current consoles. Multiplayer wise I would say it falls between COD games and previous BF games, so it offers something to both. Myself I loved COD, and my brother loves BF games. On this games the smaller maps I love he hates and the big ones, vice versa. I havent played the campaign, but I didnt buy this game for the 1 player, I brought it for the multiplayer and so far, I have been loving it. As I said earlier, this games main downfall was the hype, if not for that I think it would have gotten alot higher scores and adulation than it is now. For hardcore COD players, wait for MW2, for everyone ones else who wants a great mulitplayer game, or the most realistic, give Battlefield 3 a try, you wont regret it. P.S. I rarely ever post here, but I felt Battlefield needed a neutral opinion to stake its claim Expand

To start this off, I would like to point out that this should not be read as biased. This is my honest opinion about Battlefield 3 ALONE. This is my honest opinion about Battlefield 3 ALONE. I will admit to religiously playing both the Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises throughout the years. I have, historically, preferred the Call of Duty campaign and Zombies modes against Battlefield's, but I have enjoyed Battlefield's multiplayer a tremendous deal more than Call of Duty's.

Battlefield 3 is amazing. The multiplayer, as always, is as solid as a brick house. Absolutely nothing can come marginally close to its experience. The co-op is engaging, as it often requires players to actually work as a team to accomplish goals. What really surprised me, however, was the campaign. It was as awesome as any other mode on Battlefield. Battlefield 3 delivers a great story, spanning multiple environments and countless roles. The inclusion of multi-button sequences is welcomed, too. The only glitch I encountered was a problem with audio being looped (i.e. a conversation at the beginning of the mission kept replaying for me).

With that said, I scold both fanboys and haters to give the game a score based on their own biases. I personally find the Battlefield series more enjoyable, but that doesn't mean I will rule out Call of Duty. Grow up or go home.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Oh boy, where do I start. Well, first off marketing. What you saw in the trailers is not what you get. The game is not good looking like in the trailers, neither is it fun. The graphics on the console version are horrible. I see flashing green screens, artifacts, you name it. The HUD in vehicles will disappear from time to time, making shooting impossibly hard. Spawn killing is too easy, especially in jets. AA locations are horrible, jets and helicopters regenerate flares too fast, when I shoot a missile at one, they immediately use flares and by the time I fire my second one, the flares are already back in the air. The map design is horrible, less destruction compared to BF BC2. Hardcore is not hardcore. Five m249 shots to the back do not seem to stop an enemy. When you manage to somehow magically get past the flares from jets, you get the message "Vehicle Disabled" on the screen. Well holy mother **** **** the jet turns around and shoots me. Really? I thought it was disabled. Disabled vehicles should not work like they're factory new. I think this game is a horrible mash up of Medal of Honor (2010) and BF:BC2. The campaign is as much of a blast as on Medal of Honor. It is not fun at all, it makes me want to shoot myself. Too many quick time events, nothing exciting happens and it is confusing as hell. The ending is what bothers me the most. It is the worst ending ever. All you do is press A or B with some RB in there and you have a **** fight with the enemy to stop a nuke in the center of New York. Also, where are the French soldiers? Typical shooter, you go in to a foreign country, but its only USA vs. Russia. The tanks in the game are trash. Somehow you can drift with them while you use the turbo boost. That is right, turbo boost. What a stupid idea. On the map Damavand Peak, there is a tunnel and on top of it there is a small mountain. If you even fly close to the mountain, you automatically commit suicide, even when you dont touch it. Too often in the game, somehow, I commit suicide while in either a jet or a helicopter and this is all at random times. If you think the game will be easy on multiplayer right off the bat, it is not. I got this game 1 month later than others and Jesus Christ is it bad. You start off with horrible weapons and gadgets, there is no way the beginning will be easy. You have to be lucky to even get a kill with your weapon. There is much more. Do not think I am a MW3 fan, MW3 is a big piece of fecal matter. I think DICE took the plunger to their **** on this game, they have pulled a "CoD" on me: they become famous, so they release a game that is waited world wide. This would MoH. MoH is the MW2 from dice and BF3 is the MW3. I think I will stick to BF:BC2, since it is fun. Oh, did I mention this game is bad? I could not even install it on my PC! I bought the game originally for my 1.5k gaming PC that was purpose built for gaming. All games run 100% error free, max settings. BF3 is a different story. I start the installation process and immediately I am greeted by an error. I managed to get to the main menu, when the game suddenly crashed and got an error. I think I had to battle through 50 errors to get to the game, just to be put down by another one. I returned it and got the 360 version. I do not recommend this game. Expand

Overall,This is a beautiful game with nice graphics. However,it disappoints in various aspects such as replay value and offline modes.DICE,u could have done better.
    +Great Graphics
    +decent multiplayer
    -Poor replay value
-PC version is alot better than consoles for some reason
    5-6/10

More of the same, nothing but FPS garbage. This genre has single handedly destroyed gaming and turned the entire industry into one that favors "safe" shallow gameplay with good graphics instead of games that are actually enjoyable.

If you someone calls this game a Modern Warfare ripoff, that is a very incorrect statement. Firstly Battlefield 2 (online FPS set in a modern time with modern weaponry) came out 2 whole years before Call of Duty 4. Second the two franchises play entirely different, especially with BF3's Frostbite 2.0 engine. The new engine truly is a game changer. The single player campaign is really the weakest part of the game. With every progression in the plot you see more and more cliched elements, these elements are done relatively well but have been done before so often the entire single player feels borrowed. The story is passable but very unremarkable with terrorists threatening to start World War 3 (sound familiar Call of Duty fans?).

The real reason to play Battlefield 3 is the Multiplayer. It is very unique in how it plays with its structure and feel. Certain aspects still feel very "Battlefield" like the weapons and the vehicles still a joy to use, and the conquest mode is back once again and is untouched in it's implementation. Another returning mode is "Rush" and was the most fun I've had in a shooter when I first played in in Bad Company 2 and is even better now with the Frostbite 2.0 engine. The maps are very well done and although they are smaller on the console versions being confined to a smaller area with guardians that kill you when you stray outside the designated area (that doesn't keep you from trying sometimes to make a run through these "out of area" routes that can sometimes give you a great vantage point for playing sniper or simply flanking an enemy or vehicle that's been mowing your comrades down.) There is also the use of parachutes in Battlefield 3, a subtle feature that can and often does create some exciting situations, be it bailing out of a disabled aircraft, the recon class can drop radio spawn points that allow your squad mates to parachute into an area deep in enemy territory, or my personal favorite... BASE JUMPING. There are instances in Rush mode where as attackers you destroy the M-Comm stations and the defenders fall back to the next level, that next level is at the bottom of a cliff and as attackers your new spawn point is at the top of this cliff, pure genius and so fun to parachute down laying fire down or spot enemies and pickup some easy spot bonuses as you sail to Terra Firma. This all is great and if I could split this review into two I would give the single player a 7 and the multiplayer an emphatic 10. Now there have been reported problems with both the single and multiplayer but I have yet to encounter any real problems. Occasional high ping here and there can cause your to jump around on the map for a second I've found (running a constant ping on my network monitoring software revealed the lags were coinciding with a single high ping but not with every high ping) but this happens so little that it's barely worth mentioning. The ability to browse servers is another welcome addition and one you don't see on console online play often, but you can find a match very quickly and easily using the quick match option, especially if you're alone, most the time it takes less than 3 seconds to hit a server and start loading the map. All in all there's very little wrong with the multiplayer while it does so many things exceptionally well. If you have the money and can't decide which FPS franchise to buy this year, by all means you should buy both, and if you are limited on funds and have to pick save up a few bucks and give this one a rent before you blindly go out and sink your $60 bucks on CoD. This game may not appeal to all types but those that it does will have an experience unlike any other in the Online FPS genre in this current generation.

It's not bad, but it's definitely forgettable. The story did not hold me whatsoever, and is basically a rehash of all the other games nowadays. The Multiplayer, however, is some of the best I've ever played. There are some extremely minor issues with it, but they are very easy to overlook. The occasional texture pop and, well, Issues with EAs crappy servers don't detract from the awesomeness that is BF3 Multiplayer. The maps are very well done, the gametypes are a bit limited, but there is definitely some variety. Most of all its just a blast. Lots of Unlocks, lots of destruction, lots of fun. I give BF3 an 8 out of 10. If you're a gamer interested in the best team based gameplay currently on the XBOX 360 market, then I encourage you to go for it and pick this one up.

The games looks and sounds great, but trying to play it is a completely different story. I have seen much of the same as other have reported with unresponsiveness. Such a bad game. They took everything from the other games and made it somehow even worse. The only difference is that they are trying to disguise it with 'good' graphics. The frame rate is measly 30 frames per second. MW3s frames per second is 60! Battlefield just tries to gloss everything over to disguise its bad gameplay.

The story is throwaway, and some of the levels (most notably the jet level) end up disappointing. You hop in a jet expecting to fly around, but ends up being an on rails shooter. Many periods with little game interaction. It was not all bad though, the tank level was cool, as well as other exciting moments, but they fail to dispel the stale aura the whole thing has. This Battlefield, like others before it, takes patience to figure out and grow into. It's not the streamlined COD experience that rewards lone-wolf play, and as a result it takes a while to learn how to play the right way.

I love the immersive environments where objects can be moved or destroyed, environments that closely mimmick real life. Battlefield 3 does very well here as the landscape, buildings, and objects change from heavy fire and explosions. Nobody does this better in my opinion. The game also does very well in emulating live combat. There are some scripted parts which force certain movements which I'm not quite a fan of but overall it's palatable. The graphics are very good, not perfect, but I'd trade that for great gameplay and character movement any day. Downloading the HD resolution pack is a must do, it's a big file, but it looks great. The campaign was short and sweet with a great storyline and great character voice overs. The soundtrack is amazing. The reason I bought this game however, was for the multiplayer, and I have not been let down! The multiplayer is fantastic. I wasn't a fan of Bad Company 2's multiplayer. They went back to the drawing board on this one and scored huge. I love the fact that the game ranks you in different classes with different weapons and promotes you for different achievements unlike other military games...just as a soldier would pull rank and commendations in real life...this is also something that nobody else does better. The battlelog feature is awesome. The customization of your character is bar none. They have a really feature rich control menu that allows you to have a truly unique experience should you choose to switch classes or weapons. Excellent, the best when it comes to this.

I don't have preferences between BF or COD...I just love to play a great game.

I regularly game with 3 other guys, and almost every time we search for a match or join a server, we get placed on opposite teams. Sometimes, half of us don't even make it to the game because the server only had room for some of us. The characters are annoying, and this makes for an unimaginable and frustrating story that will turn off even the most diehard Battlefield fans. But, that's not what makes Battlefield is it? The multiplayer returns, following almost identically to Bad Company 2 in almost every facet. From the game modes, to the weapon sounds, this game does everything identical to BC2. The game does feel fresh though, upgraded with a new graphics engine and a new destruction engine. The game does impress in more than one way online, especially when it comes to the combat. The jets and tanks make a triumphant comeback and manages to be quite balanced for the online warfare. The destruction engine holds up well online, but not close to the standard that is in the single-player. At times, the game can feel unbalanced and spotty. The destruction engine seems to work at times, and refuses to work at others. The destruction engine also causes glitches and awkward deaths following combat. The game is good and it manages to stay fresh, even though the similarities with its predecessor being obvious. Not a bad game, and I would recommend it to anyone; especially the online. The single player is a pass for most players, and multiplayer is a dime; making for a solid 8 for an FPS. Expand

Battlefield always dominates the Multiplayer - this much is obvious. But I didn't realise this fully until I had bought the game and started to play. The Single player feels more like an added bonus to the game - it is good, with the quick-time events, vehicle-based missions and decent storyline to it - and the co-op is enjoyable to play with a friend. But the Multiplayer is absolutely superb. Everything about it - Vehicles, Huge maps, wide-range customizable classes and easy squad access - made me give BF3 a 10. I have often said to myself "Last game for now, I have things to do" and then seen a great map for the next round and forced myself to stay. An Excellent game well worth the buy. Expand

Ok its not the pc version, ok 1 player is a by the numbers campaign and co-op is a spec ops me too, but seriously the scale and quality of multiplayer put this top of my extensive pile of shooters. I've spent most of the day playing and had only 1 server blip, and so many moments that just make you smile. Props for squeezing this onto xbox. If you've got a pair and like multiplayer, come get some.

I honestly thought all previous battlefields sucked. This is pretty awesome. I play the hell outta COD but find myself yelling bullshnikes at the screen constantly. This is not the same. Its not better or worse just something new and fresh. I love the mix of vehicles and classes, they blend well and you're constantly switching it up. The squad system and spawning works great. Battlefield 3 is very much a game divided. The campaign is linear and straightforward, but with several memorable highlights (the cinematic action of the jet level to the set piece brilliance of an encounter involving Russian paratroopers). For the most part though, the campaign is easily forgettable, and does little to emotionally involve you with your characters; you'll feel like you're controlling faceless automatons. Co-op, again, is split between bland action and thrilling, heart-in-mouth gameplay. The helicopter escort mission in particular can be brilliant fun with a good friend, while more corridor roaming action is most certainly not welcome, which is a shame, as that is what most of the missions consist of.

Multiplayer is another beast entirely. Diving out of the way, missing 30 mil bullets by centimeters, charging into a room and gunning down an entirely squad, parachuting in for a quiet knife kill... Battlefield 3's online creates moments effortlessly. The vehicles are integrated seamlessly into gameplay, and complement the infantry based action that makes up the majority of firefights perfectly. The maps are well-designed, with MCOM stations and flags placed in locations that are sure to result in fast paced combat. The classes are well balanced also, each thriving in a key area, but remaining versatile enough so that a team made up predominantly of a certain class is unlikely to be disadvantaged.

A thoroughly enjoyable game, spoiled by an "average" campaign, but redeemed with one of the most compelling multiplayer modes of the last few years. 8/10.

Multiplayer: if you can get into a game is fun, the servers have a tendency to drop mid game(happened to me 9 times in a row) and if you drop you lose all progression you got during said match, game looks excellent though. I'm sure in a few months this game could have potential but for now just save your money...i wish I did. Expand

I had high expectations for this as EA hyped the game beyond belief. Overall my expectations were met. The Multiplayer experience is simply amazing. The pilot controls for flying are quite frustrating though and the graphics seem to be bi-polar with some parts looking spectacular and other parts looking like a mess. This game definitely lacks polish and the finishing touch. Single player is quite mundane to say the least. It seems to be a trend with EA FPS games (E.G: Medal of Honour). Just like the Call of Duty series, most fans buy the game for the Multiplayer. If you are one of those gamers, I highly suggest you purchase this game ASAP. Expand

If you're looking for a great single player campaign you're out of luck, rent BF3 or pick it up in the bargain bin. If you're looking for the best online multiplayer action then BF3 is your game hands down.

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
