They're two totally different experiences, and they both excel in what they're trying to do on the multiplayer level. The only thing that truly hurts BF3 is the fact that it had to be trimmed for consoles, but it's not BF's fault that consoles simply cannot handle it. It would have been like trying to port Crysis 1 without the CryEngine3. BF3 shows us that the end of this console generation is here, and that this generation is now holding back innovation and the future of games (seriously, wtf is the physics engine on MW? Am I the only one that is dissapointed that grenades dont move wood pallets or outright destroy them? Seriously, Source has better physics implemented in it) They're different animals... that's all- and lets be honest, BF3 does way more for the gaming community than MW, as it stands, will ever be able to do. BF3 will only get better from here as the expansions roll out. Expand

Online play is fluid, realistic, and just fast paced enough to keep your attention without making you have seizures. The graphics are amazing for a console game, on par with some of the best high-end PC graphic card required games. Personas don't look like cartoons anymore. The leveling system is a huge leap forward from the Bad Company 2. Highly recommend this one.

It's really addictive and unlike the cod games which is just run and shoot people, in Battlefield 3, you need to be tactical and be a responsible player in order to succeed. The best one to try on is the "Conquest Mode" coz it's fun and gives u more EXP. The other good thing that I like about this game is that almost 90% of the bugs and glitches on the BETA has been fixed and the remaining 10% is just some minor glitch which can be ignored like some minor running issues and other small stuff.. overall this game deserves a 9.5 but I'm rounding it up to 10. I'll start on campaign, boring if I'm honest, some great levels, some great set pieces, bit too linear, but campaigns usually need to be on shooters, its no ArmA is it! Scenes like thunder run or the first time you walk onto the deck of the aircraft carrier are very "wow this looks awesome" and its moments like that in the campaign that make it look better than its rivals, it plays well and looks good, although nowhere near as good as the pc version, iv installed both the game and texture lack and while impressive its still nowhere near to the pc version, Now the multiplayer, 30fps 720p (just) looks and plays good, its a change of pace to cod adding vehicles etc, but it does little to keep you hooked in and some server issues and lag etc have made some gamers have less than good experiences online, The squad features and clan options are lacking heavilly in a game that is supposed to thrive on team play, the levels although well designed and quite big have little in the way of choke points or areas to hold down with a squad, exept the smaller levels like metro,
Levelling up takes an eternity and can get boring,
The player cap at 24 is a step foreward but surely 32-40 would have been better, mag managed a smooth 256 on mag! Overall the game is let down by slow and boring levelling system, and poor squad and clan settings, a small player count and ea been server hoggers although dedi servers are great, they don't work for xbl! The player count could have been better and they could have done a console based app for battlelog, a great looking and sounding game, but not enough to hook you in unless your already a fan from 2005! Great effort and ill look forward to the updates and map pack,

And the reviews that say this is the best multiplayer game to date are right on. I'd say the only game that is comparable is Left 4 Dead. This game has changed warfare games for good.

After playing this for countless hours I do have some criticisms. The soldier skins. They're good, but extremely repetitive. It's kind of funny seeing three of the same soldiers side by side, twins and triplets everywhere. The unlocks. Some are great. Some don't work properly (dog tags). Some are repetitive. There should have been more unlocks. By the time you get to colonel there is really nothing new, and only very lengthy spans between dog tags are left. Something to be learned from mw2 would be the addictive unlocks.

There's also no way to communicate outside of your squad. And you should be able to communicate with the other team between matches. There is a bit of an issue of repeating maps before completing a full cycle. And with this, teams are switched up or you can be thrown into an entirely random game which all of a sudden has opposing strategy and unfamiliar teammates.

These are very minor flaws however and won't stop me from putting in hundreds of hours.

But what makes this game great is you can camp if you want, you can go guns a blazing, it depends on your ability to work with your teammates. It is very hard to run and gun by yourself, but if you have a couple of solid teammates you can run around the map and pick off the campers. Or work together as a team setting up camp and destroy the competition. I love the team element of the game even though I hardly ever wear a headset. The shooting controls are harder than MW and I like that. Game requires skill and team work. I understand why people like MW and I don't begrudge them, I've played it for many hours, but BF3 is a significant upgrade to BC2 whereas MW3 should be a DLC for MW2. Not to mention the newer maps are even smaller. This game does have some glitchy graphics on XBOX (even with the install) and sometimes matchmaker creates some oddly uneven games but overall I play a little almost every day and LOVE it! Expand

Considering the vastly obsolete hardware that dice had to work with, I write this review very impressed with how good they made the game look, graphics wise i can honestly say its the best on consoles period. Concerning bugs and lag online...well for lag consult your ISP, and for bugs that's just one of the flaws of frostbite 2. If you read the pc version reviews every reviewer mentions the glitches that come along with the engine, but it is forgiven due to the weighing of the pros vs. cons list. For TLDR people:

Not in the least bit a perfect game single player wise....but who wants to play battlefield single player ? Multiplayer has always been the selling point of the franchise.

The graphics and Visuals are incredible, the shear size and ability to explore the various maps is amazing and I am enjoying this game, when I can get online! Now moving on to my various complaints:

    1. The campaign provided nothing new to a the first person shooter warfare genre, however I played it and enjoyed myself for a few hours.
    2. The sever connectivity issues were never resolved in the BETA like they should have been.
    3. There is an enormous slue of glitches and hick ups in campaign and online (freezing, never ending loading screens, holes in maps, cinematic to gameplay triggers not going off (and vice a versa)). A complete lack of two player (split screen) gameplay.
    4. Midnight purchasers were not rewarded in any way what so ever by a greeting in the form of a 1.5 Gb download as soon as they got home.
    5. Next is both EA's and DICE's complete disregard for their fanbase. No updates on their forums at all besides, "we're aware of the issue." or, "maintenance is taking longer than expected." We have heard not one apology, not one condolence. All EA or DICE have publicly stated is that their game is the best and it's a COD killer. Sounds like they have become more concerned with beating CoD and less concerned with a quality product that will impress their fanbase.

Coming from a PC gamer who has bought and played every single BF game since 1943 I have to say that I love this game. I am going to throw one negative out there and say that the campaign isn't that great. It gives a fairly good story and has a lot of action but to be honest, it's a little bit dry, pretty easy, and fairly short . I am going to throw one negative out there and say that the campaign isn't that great. It gives a fairly good story and has a lot of action but to be honest, it's a little bit dry, pretty easy, and fairly short . Also, if you didn't enjoy the BC2 campaign or the MW2 campaign, then you probably wont enjoy this one (it feels like a mixture of both). However, I personally don't care at all about the campaign so I didn't include that in my score. The multiplayer and co-op are where it's at (If I did even take it into account, I would give the game a 9.7 and just round up since I can't give that type of score).

I'll first review the co-op because I wan't to leave the best for last. To simplify my emotions about co-op, I will just say that it's everything the campaign wasn't. Seriously. It's just a very fun set of missions that I've personally enjoyed a lot and they give you a good preparation for the multiplayer. They are a little short, but they are completely worth trying out if you have a friend to play it with.

    Now on to the multiplayer:

I've been a BF fan ever since the beginning and I have to say that the multiplayer for this game is everything I expected from DICE. One thing that I particularly love about the 360 version is the amazing server browser included. This is probably one of the best browser on consoles I have experienced so far. It gives you a very wide arrange of options that I've only so far seen on PC. It's just wonderful. Plus, [DICE] servers have a very helpful line if the server is full so once someone leaves, you will instantly join into a full game. The sizes of the maps also surprised me. From videos I've seen, the maps seemed very small compared to maps in other BF games. But when I played, I was very pleased to say that maps are very large in size. I wouldn't honestly say THE largest maps I've seen like in BF2 and such but they are almost there. If you've played Heavy Metal in BC2, Caspian is about twice to three times as large. The sound is wonderful too. I get goosebumps from listening to rockets fly by my head. Also, here's a tip: go to settings>audio then switch the sound from "hi-def" to "war tapes". The sounds get even better.

There are a few problems with being on a bad team (it's very easy to get on one) but that's more a problem with the players and not the game. If you do find yourself on one, I would suggest quitting the server and finding another one. This is really nothing new though. Uneven teams has been a problem since BF:1942. But I personally have my best moments when the game has even teams.

I won't review the graphics because you people can just see for yourself. I will tell you though that you need to dwnld the high-def texture pack. It does wonders and it barely takes any time at all to install.

To sum up, I would suggest skipping the SP altogether and just going to multiplayer. If you are like me and you have to play the campaign before you play the multiplayer then I would suggest that you go for co-op. It's a much better campaign than the SP.

Visuals: 8, the game does a very good job of showing of the full potential of the xbox360. However in saying that, you can already see signs where the developers had to substitute detail in one area to maximise it in another. Eg: some areas show signs of complete unity of light, shadow and texture, while others skimp out on the above to maximise the frame-rate in high action areas. If you have a HDD, you can install the texture pack which boosts the depth of textures while adding new ones.
Sound: 10, Brilliant Sound, all authentic and the explosions sound insane. If you have a quality surround sound system the game shines.
Gameplay: 7 Ok...here's the tricky part...and il let you guys see it for yourself when you pick up the game. But the game does suffer from some akward game-play moments. Firstly maximising the graphical potential of the game has influenced the framerate. At times the game does feel slow, in others its ok. The single player story, does play well, but is rather short. However the shortness does leave you with a few memorable scenes. Online: 10, the game shines. There is no other title out there that offers such a large expanse to battle against your friends with. The huge amount of vehicles, and the experience of fighting in a true battlefield is everlasting. The sound of jets above you going nuts in dogfights, the sound of tanks in a battle in a field next to you, it all feels like your really in a game where your little self can make a huge influence. Now if only EA fixed there servers............

Some frustration aside with getting online Tuesday, I decided not to let this hamper my opinion of the game. The criticisms for this game are valid, its not as epic or nice looking as the PC version, and the single player is even more of a wash now that its on the second disc, but it is still a competent game on the 360.

The lighting, textures, and feel of guns are all very well placed. People want to know why they're getting killed? It's because you're out in the open, treating it like you're on a paintball field in Modern Warfare. The only way we win matches is by going slow, using teamwork, and being practical. I don't want to get into the argument about which game is better, Activision has always done an excellent job of the run and gun shooter, but its really apples and oranges between that and Battlefield. I'm sure both games will do well in the market, and there should be options for shooters.

When its not connecting right, this game be frustrating, but that always gets better with time. Bad Company 2 is what got me back into this franchise, and based off of Tuesday nights game with my group, we're going to get a lot of shelf life out of it, but please, don't be haters because you play this game by yourself. If you play CoD, then by all means go play it and enjoy. This game at its core is well made, the levels are balanced and vary in setting, and make it so you can create great memories for yourself, not just relying on scripted events. Vehicles once again add new tactical perspectives, and the rebalancing of classes make it easy to find your niche. The unlocking system is a bit excessive, breaking down into subcategories of unlocks, but I already have the gun I want for the class I want after one night. I hope this information has been helpful.

Now that CODMW3 is here and BF3 is running I feel that Battlefield 3 is hands down a one of the best multiplayer experiences this year! The visuals, sound, and game play create a epic experience every time you start a match! I think that everyone should try it for 2 or three hours and after you get your barrings and understand that this is not a arcade shooter like COD they'll fall in love with the options that the classes, vehicles, and destructible environment create! Just as COD had epic set pieces in their single player Battlefield 3 allows you to create those epic moment every match actually behind the seat! It showed me varied locales, times of day, vehicles, etc. It was awesome! Then, there is multiplayer. It is just a blast. Me and three buddies have become addicted to the multiplayer side of things. The unlock system may not be as deep as the MW system, but it is engaging nonetheless. I'd rather focus on the game rather than needing "24 more kills to unlock X". Overall, this game rocks. Ok got that out of the way now for what youve been waiting for. I have played battlefiled 1942, BF 2, BFBC, BFBC 2, all the way up to battlefield 3. Ive also played the cod series. with that being said I ve been waiting for this game for 6 yrs. and I have to say Im not disapointed! The graphics are great install the hd texure pack! The 360 version looks like the pc version on required specs. which isn't bad at all! The sound in 7.1 or 5.1 you can hear everything from the buildings falling apart, literaly you can hear peices of ruble falling off of buldings. Thats awesome, Bullets fling by you teammates chater.EA did a great job of the sound mixing. Now for the game play BF 3 does a great job of bringing something for every one so to speak. You have your conquest and rush game types which take place on huge maps. while big in size they also have tight spaces. ie ally ways and building hallways to cut through. which makes it great for stake outs. All the deathmatch modes come on smaller maps they are still good size just nothing compaired to the objective based game modes. Some maps are so big you have tanks, jets, and choppers, (oh my) sorry had to. Thre prestation is good. anyone farmiler with battlefield 2 you will notice quickly that its alot like it in the menus. You can see the servers you have played on, save your favorite servers and search for what ever game type your little heart desires. With all of this being said. 6 yrs waiting 2 BFBC's l8r. Which were ok and God only knows how many COD's which is starting to get stagnet. same stuff differant coat of paint each yr. Im rambling anyway if you play well with others and play in a squad thats where BF 3 pays of big. You and your friends will have a great time with this game if your a lone wolf stick with COD! See you on the battlefield!

Consider facts, and consider what this game means for the entire genre. Battlefield has been revamping its engine in revolutionary ways with every new release. This is a military shooter with advanced physics, gritty realism and no-holds-barred combat. Two guys can shoot at each-other and both die. That doesn't happen in rival shooters. Well, Battlefield 3 for Xbox360 IS for us. It's like pick-up ball that's just competitive enough without being too serious for itself.
As a consumer of average video game consumption, i've shopped through the most oft-recommended/advertised multiplayer shooter series on Xbox360: Gears of War, Halo, and Call of Duty. All were fun, but with major drawbacks. Gears had mech-like sluggish characters. Halo was like one long frenetic ninja duel. And Call of Duty had poor graphics and an unbearable amount of eerily over-committed...students of the game. Battlefield 3 hits the sweet spot: just realistic enough that your actions actually have an impact despite lacking some gaming trick, yet maintaining a good pace throughout. Most importantly, Battlefield 3's multiplayer makes, well, playing with multiple players fun. There's always someone to work in teams with. Your actions make a meaningful contribution to the team even if you're not individually a skilled killer. Other players are encouraging and, if you feel disheartened from dying many times, there is always someone on your team to deploy next to and follow their lead. There are fewer trash-talking cowards hiding behind their screen names here because--i'm guessing--they generally don't have the patience for a team effort. Personally, i believe you will enjoy this game: actually "enjoy", not just "appreciate". That is the best praise i have for a video game, and the only merit a video game truly earns to begin with.
NOTE: I have only played the online mutiplayer, so i can only speak in that regard.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The multiplayer is great. Perhaps a bit chaotic, but still fun. It's no the same of COD, but its difference makes it enjoyable. So relative high marks go to the multiplayer. The loss in points comes from the single player campaign. It's short, a few hours short. With the Co-op potion, you gain another hour or so depending on difficulty, but I was promised an extensive Campaign and it fell short. There are also a half dozen quicktime interactions that seem plastered on. They're clunky and the button pressing doesn't correspond with on screen action in the dynamic rewarding fashion of comparable FPS's. Further, the vehicle portions we confining and not as enjoyable as promised. The fighter portion, you don't even have the opportunity to fly. You fire missiles and do a watered down lasing segment that's no where near as enjoyable as COD's AC130 missions. The tank missions, save the final segement through the city, lacks character. There are highlights, such as the beginning mission and the sniper mission, but these cannot eclipse the nonsense turns in the plot. For the FPS that boasts closeness with reality, there are some things that are unforgivable. One is committing an act of war on Russia by attacking a division of Russian troops with an underequipt and weaker force. The second is an American soldier murdering his CO to help a Russian he met seconds before. It's just nutty. And for that, not the multiplayer in any way, the score is much lower than it should have been. Expand

The campaign also has a good number of glitches in it which can detract from the experience; overall I felt detached and found a few of the checkpoints to not even load and I had to restart the mission in order for the problem to be fixed. Multiplayer is amazing and in my opinion it is the best in the series and one of the only redeeming factor in the game; lots of unlocks, medals, camas, ribbons, and more. There are times when I have to travel too far to engage with enemies only to get sniped and start the process all over again which becomes very frustrating. There is a lack of flow to the game play, in my opinion. And although I have grown a little tired of the noob tubes and powerful explosives in Call of Duty, Explosives in BF3 seem so weak and not very useful. It is hard to put my finger on but I never seem to get a connection with any of the guns and there is a certain "clunkiness" to the feel of the game flow. But I think I'm more of a fan of the more fast paced, instant action of MW, even with the dated game engine and lack of realism. Expand

This is quite a poor effort from Dice / EA, a franchise low for Battlefield. I have been a battlefield fan since 2 and I thoroughly enjoyed 2142, Modern Combat and Bad Company series. Having said that, I admit that I prefer the fast paced, individualistic multiplayer of COD games. But I am not reviewing this game from the point of a COD fanboy, just some one who enjoys both series. I amThis is quite a poor effort from Dice / EA, a franchise low for Battlefield. Having said that, I admit that I prefer the fast paced, individualistic multiplayer of COD games. But I am not reviewing this game from the point of a COD fanboy, just some one who enjoys both series. I am also going to talk about the graphics everybody knows its a great looking game. Firstly, I must address the campaign, which is the most lifeless and linear modern war shooter I have ever played. If you expect ''battlefields'' look elsewhere as levels are progressed via a very restrictive follow the leader type design, there is no room for dynamic action or combat scenarios. The level openers and enders may have a few cool scripted sequences and set pieces, (none lasting longer than 10 seconds) but the actual gameplay is void of anything exciting and engaging. Speaking of set pieces, I feel this just doesn't compare to the way games like Uncharted and Gears of War incorporate set pieces into the gameplay. Its not just something to look at in the background, but there are entire 10 minute levels in those games that compete with the biggest most impressive set pieces seen in blockbuster movies. 4/10 for SP.

The multiplayer portion of the game is designed better and more faithful the to title. If you enjoyed Battlefield 2, you will feel right at home with this game, its very similar in design, modes and map design. The main new featured are jets, disabling vehicles which that the turrets will work even if the wheels wont, more sophisticated and realistic lighting and enhanced squad abilities. The main drawback however, are the maps, especially the larger ones, which are more barren, less vertical and feature less destruction, which means matches especially on conquest game modes are slower than usual. This means firefights are never quite as fun as they could be. Overall, its great but not much of a sequel to Battlefield 2 or even Bad Comany 2. 8/10 for MP.

Every single map on the disc plays differently and there's plenty of variety, with some maps focussing heavily on vehicles and others primarily infantry with one or two tanks/APCs. I have brought MW and the prestige editions for MW2 and Black Ops and loved Bad Company 2. Now I didn't even show an interest in MW3 I may even end up buying it later on down the track just for the single-player because I got sick of playing MW2 and Black Ops online just to get quick scoped all the time or the guys who are in a party just go on different teams and just keep killing one guy for the kill streaks. Now I brought BF3 when it was released and I have only played the first mission of BF3 because most of my time I've been playing the multiplayer. I believe that the open maps and number of vehicles you can control create many different tactics you can apply to the battlefield and I have even witnessed different tactics used against me. True that the servers were really bad the first week but they worked on them and now it's up and running perfectly! Plus the add-on we get for free (if you purchased the limited edition) which has new vehicles, weapons, and re-created maps from the previous game. Where as and I'm sorry about this but paying 1200 MS points for 4-6 maps as just outrageous and yes I did purchase 1 or 2 of the map packs. If anyone has actually read up to this point I am a casual gamer and love my games, even so much I don't even trade them or resell them but if you are looking for a great multiplayer experience this game is for you, the amount of upgrades for your weapons, even with your level, plus for each vehicle, will just keep you coming back for more. The only thing they really need to work on is an easier way to quit out of a game without waiting for a new game to start. Also I have had glitching like registering my jet during a lag where I"m pulling up, but due to the lag and glitch, I crash. Also the lame fact that a Street lamp makes a jet explode and the lamp stays standing.

I know several players have had complaints, several in vain. I.e. All my teammates are playing as snipers. Or the super bright tactical light. I see the tac light that bright because it's suppose to make it hard to see. And the sniper deal, that's just kids being kids and not using strategy. One of my friends complained how a person could destroy a tank with a missile. I don't get the complaint. I honestly don't.

For the credit on NPC's I love how I was trying to out shoot the NPC's. Not prevent being swarmed but the somehow endless killing spree of wiping out a whole village like Call of Duty. The only thins I would change are that NPC's don't have that stupid knife lunge. On the customization page on the main menu, you could filter out weapons you don't have. Also have more co-op missions. I felt the need for more besides 6 short missions with a friend. There are glitches to fix, which will receive attention in time.

I will say the graphics during the single player are astounding at times and it does contain some rather funky set pieces, But we all know that BF3's single player is just tagged on because in these day and age, games have to try and cater for everybody. The developer, Dice have sort have given a nod to this in the fact that its stituated on the second disc. The multiplayer mode however sits on the disc uno, along with a HD pack thing that you have to install to your hard drive before you can play the game (this, coupled with a 189mb dashboard update for the game that fixes a lot of the games launch day/beta issues). Inside you will find plethroa of meaty maps, epic in scale, filled with usable vehicles and gun emplacements, choppers and jet fighters (the latter two are hard to control in the default controll scheme so i recommend switching the controls to southpaw in the options menu.) The XP unlock system is basic but effective giving the game a longetivy and also allowing you to unlock weapons, camo, attachments and special abilitys and also weapons for vehicles. Super polished and intensley addictive. Most players however wont give it a chance due to the other elephant in the room. The big COD, now, fact is, I played Call of Duty annually since the original Modern Warfare and will day that the game is a great game, The gameplay grew stale in my opinion and I decided to seek elsewhere for my first person fix. BF3 has filled those boots well so much so its taken choice over this years interation of the Infinity Ward game. For most COD vets, this game will be too hard, and contain too much learning curve. Stick with it however and you will b rewarded greatly. Expand

The Campaign is a little lacking, but it still looks and sounds amazing. This game has such a strong emphasis on team play and when you really start to understand how each class operates and how each piece of equipment can really help your team if you work together, you begin to understand how deep this game can be if people learn their roles and work together as a squad. The maps are big, but there are usually just enough vehicles around to get you to your destination quickly. In this game you not only level up your rank, but you also level up your individual class based on how much you use it. THe same with weapons. Nearly every weapon has close to 18-19 different attachments. How many attachments you can use at once depends on the gun, but typically 3 attachments can be equipped at once. I can't say enough about how much fun this game can be if you play with friends and work together as a squad. Each match offers so many different ways to obtain victory, that it really doesn't get old. I highly recommend this game if you enjoy team & objective based gameplay. You don't have to be an expert at getting killstreaks and having a high K/D ratio to win games. You can score a lot buy supporting your squad and completing objectives. This game is for people who enjoy team games. Expand

Amazing! Graphics alone are stunning. Amazing online and gameplay. Campaign story line is a little difficult to follow and more like CoD, but fantastic game!

Awesome game. Incredible graphics, great sound, truly fun to play with your friends. The addition of vehicles makes this game superior to Call of Duty in every way.

For any gamer who is still on the fence about this game, i highly reccomend you give it a chance. Sure the campaign is nothing special but thats not what battlefield is about. The visuals and graphics arent mind bogling but after installing the HD content, this game looks great all around. The matchmaking is very good, allowing you to get into a game in seconds or you can filter the search to a specific game mode and map. Lets not forget this game has dedicated servers, something Call of Duty always lacked. I have spent about 40 hours on multiplayer and literally only 2 games ive been in had noticable lag. Could have been my internet connection though.

There is so much to unlock in BF3, you choose between four classes, those of which are assault, engineer, support, and recon. Each have their own set of weapons and gadgets. Each weaopon is also HIGHLY customizable. Their is literlay like 10 different scope and sights available for your gun. Not to mention suppressors, shotgun attachments, flash supprersors, grips, you name it.

I love the maps in this game, they range from big to huge. But dont let this turn you away, the game is still fast paced because everyone tends to center around the objective. Covering ground is a breeze with the different vehicles you can use. These range from jeeps, tanks, helicopters, and jets. Yup you can fly jets in this game, albiet the air vehicles can be difficult to drive at first, but after a few embarrasing crashes you'll get the hang of it.  That being said this game is so fun with all these vehicles at your disposal, its such a different experience than Call of Duty ever gave me. Remeber in blackops where you had to get an 11 kilstreak to get a chopper gunner? Well say goodbye to that cuz here you can just hop in an attack heli and rain hell on the enemy team. Dont worry about balance issues since any vehicle can be brought down by any team with half a brain.

As long as Dice continues to support this game, I can see myself playing for the next two years easy. Now excuse me while I go base jumping off a cliff deep into enemy territory :P

"Battlefield 3" makes strong and calculated improvements, reinventing itself with an enviously powerful and advanced game engine, dedicated servers for secure online play and greater progression branches for a deep and invested online multiplayer experience. The single-player story is one with many sympathetic and memorable characters in extraordinary circumstances. More importantly, it's a story that pays respect to America's Armed Forces and to the selfless sacrifices made by the soldier. Overall, "Battlefield 3" can only be summarized with "Value" and "Quality". Expand

Battlefield 3 is a great multiplier game. Vehicular warfare, actual teamwork, realistic ballistics, this game is "above and beyond the call". Another excellent war strategy game released this year with MW3. Both games are different which is good. MW3 is like MW2 which is what we are looking for when we buy COD. And BF3 has vehicles which is what we want with Battlefield. DO NOT COMPARE THE 2

The campaign is very good, I was worried it would be too short but it was not, however the only criticism is of the AI, sometime various men within the squadron don't follow or get in your way.

    I definitely recommend this game.

If you're looking for a great single player campaign you're out of luck, rent BF3 or pick it up in the bargain bin. If you're looking for the best online multiplayer action then BF3 is your game hands down.

While Battlefield 3 was aiming to be the biggest name this holiday season, and while it has made strides towards knocking off Modern Warfare 3, it misses the mark. That's not to say it is a bad game, it's a very good one, but the polish and excitement that is found on the Call of Duty series feels missing here. Still, there are much worse games you could end up with this holiday season, and the competition between the two series should heat up significantly in the next few years.

This experience alone sums up what Battlefield 3 is about. It isn't a John Rambo run and gun shooter and it shouldn't really be compared to MW3 in terms of how you play it. For players to truly understand the Battlefield experience you need to embrace the teamwork by joining a squad and calling out your spotted enemies, as after all, sometimes you also need your back covered too.
