It's frustrating as hell, BotW was a struggle as well but I pushed through it because everyone liked it. Won't do the same with TotK, played it for like 11 hours and I'm done, this is not for me.

They took BotW and cranked up the bullsh*t tenfold with the Zonai devices and mandatory weapon fusing. I played it on a Switch emulator with unlimited weapon durability (with 60fps on 2K) so I can't even imagine the tedium normal players have to endure.

My main issue with the latest Zelda games is a lack of direction (even though I absolutely love Elden Ring where I was constantly lost). Yes, the game throws some objective markers at you but it's still overwhelming. That combined with it's lack-luster combat, unrewarding gameplay loop, boatload of puzzles and ungodly amount of walking make this a dreadful experience, the cumbersome mechanics of the Ultra-Hand and Zonai devices just added to my frustration.

It is what it is, I don't like Baldur's Gate 3 either, it's too slow. My ADHD brain needs quick and constant stimulation otherwise I'm out, no matter how highly praised it is by critics and the general populace.
Give me a weapon, some enemies to kill (with a good combat system) and I'm good. Leave the "wandering around aimlessly" and "finding what to do next" parts to real-life, or at least make it worth my while. None of the places look interesting or memorable.

In conclusion, for me this game is boring, frustrating and tedious.

If you relate to how I feel:

Don't let the internet make you play a game you don't like, just accept that you're different and move on.
    There is something for everyone.

I can't recommend this game. The combat is some of the worse I've played in a long time, especially compared to other Zelda games. Getting really tired of people giving games with a mainstream title a great review just because it's called Zelda.

With hope in my heart and nostalgia's embrace,

The open world beckoned, vast and so wide,
But lacking enchantment, it made me deride.
Wind Waker's seas, a sight full of grand,
While Tears of the Expansion, a lackluster land.

Dungeons once grand, puzzles crafted with care,
Now pale shadows, a tedious affair.
Rooms and puzzles skippable, immersion defaced,
No treasures to find, no challenges to embrace.

Maps, compasses, keys, they've faded, it's true,
Took an arrow to the knee, a sad adieu.
Replaced by simplicity, devoid of true zest,
Puzzles forsaken, immersion put to the test.

Breakable weapons, tools that won't last,
Zelda's essence faded, a relic from the past.
The Blood Moon, tired and worn, in its repeat,
Rehashed memory cleaning, a cycle so fleet.

A lengthy two-hour tutorial, a burden to bear,
Tears of the Expansion, time wasted in despair.
An identity crisis, lost in its lore,
Assassin's Creed's shadow, knocking at the door.

"Ubitowers" once more, an intrusion so odd,
Zelda's spirit diluted, a fusion so flawed.
    Minecraft's influence joining this melee,
    Challenges diminished, immersion in disarray.

Link to the Past, a standard so high,
Minish Cap and Ocarina of Time, oh my!
They set the bar for what Zelda should be,
A rich tapestry of lore and adventure for thee.

A sequel awaits, skepticism in hand,
Will Call of Duty gameplay next invade this land?
Firing at Moblins with a Model Deku slide-action grand!

    Some disappointments:
    - A lot of recycled game mechanics from botw. It feels more like a DLC than a whole new game.
    - The introduction is too long, linear and tedious. This ruins replay-ability.
    - The construction-type game mechanic feels a lot like actual work, with a poor interface. If you do 3D modeling as a day-time job, playing this game is not relaxing nor entertaining. Much rather get back to work. It feels very off in a Zelda game.
    - The game is nearly unplayable for people with limited spatial awareness.
    - Storyline doesn't provoke progression.
    - Deviating from the storyline is unrewarding.
    - The vast spectrum of weapons and abilities makes for an overcomplicated play-style.
    - Seems to target a very young audience.

Unfortunately like BOTW, this game falls short of everything that makes Zelda magical; it's all hype and fluff, with no substance. If you just want to play a sandbox game on hardware from 7 years ago with graphics to match, sure get this game. But if you are looking for an epic Zelda adventure this is not it.

An evolved emphasis on the world and it's progression through time, Tears of the Kingdom is the direct sequel to Breath of the Wild, but I couldn't help but feel it fell short of what I expected given six years of development polish. Something about it is lacking the magic that Breath of the Wild had, be that because Breath of the Wild exists or because it's hardly a completely unique game in it's own right, Tears of the Kingdom doesn't come close to justifying the cost of it's development time in my opinion.

Breath of the Wild's approach, while lacking in some areas of the overworld, kept you grounded and involved in navigating the world itself. Tears of the Kingdom wants you to skip it by creating any amount of vehicles to navigate over those some obstacles. Because of this, and the quality of other entries in the Zelda franchise, I don't feel that Tears of the Kingdom is necessarily better than Breath of the Wild, it's just more of it.

That said, it's deeply enjoyable if you cast aside your experience with Breath of the Wild, the cast, voice acting, story implication and gameplay still chalk up to be the new standard for what Zelda games and open world games should aspire to. I just hoped for something more unique.

Faulty releases of modern games is a mainstream now and most of the games are released in a very bad technical condition, even no point to say about other aspects...

Fortunately at least some game makers still can make a good quality game and it is not only about the graphics but overall. In my opinion "The Tears of The Kingdom" is a great sequel of a great game, the quality of the game is very good and I love attention to details , this is rare thing in modern games.

The rest of the game makers should take Zelda BOTW/TOTK as an example and finally understand that the gameplay is the most important thing in a game, just a cool picture is not enough, it should be interesting to play first of all and a game must work well on release!

To be honest, I don't understand the outrage of people who say that this game has old graphics. Did you expect that Switch will magically get an additional graphics card with the release of the new Zelda?
Considering the size of this game, the developers have done an incredible work to make make it so well.

I agree that not everything is absolutely perfect in this game but I'll put the highest score as some little issues doesn't make any troubles and most likely will be fixed soon.

This game is not a DLC, there is a plenty of a new interesting content, new features and ideas, it is huge and awesome. Don't listen anyone who is moaning that it is a full price DLC, it is not true, If you are the BOTW fan you will love this game!

It's essentially BOTW all over again, with new and better gameplay mechanics, but the same issues and some reused map and enemies. For every new thing added, there's an old thing coming back, which makes TOTK a better and bigger game than BOTW, but kind of disappointing for a $70 sequel.

Still, the story is better, the open world is richer, and overall the gameplay is much more interesting and engaging (the new abilities are much more fun than BOTW's).

If you've never played a zelda game, Tears of the Kingdom is a really good entry point, but I expected more from a sequel to 2017's GOTY, and this game got me thinking that maybe Nintendo should abandon the open world trend and make The Legend of Zelda linear again.

Also something I’m glad to see is a lot more unique enemies and bosses as that was one complaint I had with Botw. Another complaint I had with Botw was weapon durability which fusing has somewhat helped to Negate and it also allows for some really cool weapons.

Overall yes Botw layered the ground work and this game couldn’t happen without it but this game took that open world masterpiece of a formula and damn near perfected it so I’m glad to say this is easily in my top 5 favourite games of all time and the best Zelda game.

    ・Zelda takes over Link’s home

While there are various dissatisfactions, the worst aspects are the story and the excessive focus on Princess Zelda.

Zelda's motives for her actions continue to lack any genuine love for the people. She has become even more self-centered and self-absorbed. I can't find even a trace of willingness to help her. It all feels like a contrived and convenient happy ending.
I have loved all the previous Zeldas, but this one is just unbearable.

I’m not a English speaker, so sorry for my poor English.

While it is visually appealing, as it is beautiful, most of the time is spent running and climbing mountains, which can get boring. Also, the rapid breaking of weapons forces the player to avoid fights, which themselves are useless since they drop no interesting loot. The map is huge, but empty, both in the air, in the dungeons and the base, which means a large amount of time spent waiting to start a mission. Fighting enemies can be frustrating, taking time to figure out what's actually going on, without there being a way to switch objectives between enemies. Also, enemies can kill the player with one shot and there is no level gauge, increasing the difficulty level. In summary, the 10/10 rating is excessive compared to the boredom that characterizes the game. Expand

If you like the old Zelda games you will be disappointed. Combat is fun but there is so, so much walking and doing nothing. The Death Stranding of the Zelda franchise. And the world is pretty empty. Bring back the old Zelda style, cause this one isn't it.

It is the same game as BOTW. Same places. The sky islands are not nearly as compelling as they seem at the beginning. The sounds effects, animations, music, and themes of each area are literally copy and pasted. The only really fun part of the game other than exploration was the leadup to the Wind Temple. The shrines get boring as hell. I was skipping them after I got the stamina wheel up a bit. It is the same game.

MORE CONS: The vehicles in the depths sometimes don't even work (tire traction, too many hills for vehicles to roll, wing vehicles dont last long, etc... it felt like a CHORE.

    END: 9/10
The ending sequences and boss fights are imaginative and emotional. Maybe one of the best endings of a zelda game. However, it does not compensate for the drab and dull midgame, which is essentially a DLC of BOTW.

Conclusion: If you don't play this game, you won't really miss out on a ton, unless you like building and seeing which devices do what. I found the devices and builds served little utility throughout the game. You can survive with the same combat as BOTW... which, was already really basic. None of the bosses were that tough if you spent a decent amount of time in BOTW, which we all have.

The dungeons were still clunky and no better than BOTW. Let's all move on. BOTW had a good run.

The game is still fun, it just feels stale.

The underground level is an copy pasted wasteland that is just annoying to explorer and there is so few sky islands that I do not get how they even made that a selling point. You will hear people saying the game is 2 or 3 times bigger then BOTW but in reality its maybe like 1.2 - 1.5 times bigger. If it was not for the whole construction mechanics this game would not be even consider to be innovative in any way. Its a shame that the same devs that have shaken up the gaming market with BOTW decided to go the same route as the rest (UBISOFT 2.0) and just create another copy pasted game. Expand

A perfect sequel to an already perfect game. Everything that made Breath of the Wild great is equal to or greater in this sequel. I had my concerns going into this game, specifically regarding it losing its magic because its on the same Hyrule map as BOTW, and potentially over focusing on the building aspects that were covered in the previews. While the map of Hyrule is largely the same, it feels fresh and exciting to traverse the similar terrains. Following the events of the first game, while the outline of the terrain is similar, it feels very much like a new world to explore. In a way, it made it exciting to revisit the same areas to see how they were changed from the first game - I'm not saying this as a biased Zelda fan, if you enjoyed the first game, it truly is exciting to explore the world in this game. My other concern about the focus on the building is also not an issue, I was worried that it would take away from the exploration that I expect out of a Zelda game and turn it into a Lego game. This is absolutely not an issue, and they did a truly impressive job of allowing you to play the game your way. If you were one of the people that were really into the physics of BOTW, then this game added a ton of content for you, but if you're someone who enjoyed walking and exploring like myself, you can still do that with minimal tapping into the building physics. Truly the strongest element of this game is the ability to go about it your way. Most often there is no single correct solution to a puzzle - you just given the tools and you solve it your way, which in my opinion is far better than the awful direction that most puzzle games have gone over the recent decades where the is only ONE solution and instead of focusing on finding a solution, you are focused on thinking like the developer. They really made the shrines and puzzles fantastic in this game, and they were already pretty fun in the last game. The exploration in this game is really the best in gaming. BOTW was perfect as it was, but in hindsight there were a lot of areas that felt a bit empty. This game filled out the world to the point where you will reroute your path more times than you can count because you’re constantly getting distracted with side quests, hidden caves, interesting landmarks, random NPCs, enemy bases, etc. Although this uses the same map as BOTW, the entire world feels completely different and very well filled out. I’m 45 hours in and I have only completed one of the four main temples, probably explored 20% of the overworld map, explored a few of the sky areas (which to be fair, are a bit sparse), and only spent 30 minutes in the underworld. Depending on your play style, this will easily be a 100+ hour game (obviously you can rush through it much faster), possible 150-200, and it will truly fly by. It’s not a drag to force yourself through, it’s just satisfying exploration that is not replicated in any other game. That’s not to say other games don’t have fantastic exploration, but none of them have this sense of personal adventure like this one.

Everything that made BOTW great is present in this game. The graphics aren't the highest caliber but they are absolutely beautiful. The sound design is flawless, still among the best I've ever experienced in a game - its a beautiful balance of silence and ambient noises and very peaceful and nonintrusive piano music. The story is far more expansive and engaging than the previous game, which I found to be one of the weakest parts of BOTW. This game is absolutely among one of the best I have played. I can tell because from the first two hours of exploring the world post-tutorial, I already thought to myself that I didn't want the game to end. I want to take my time, I want to stop to explore things, I want this game to last. Its a masterpiece. The best open world game out there. I’m usually a harsh critic too, check my other reviews.

Feels strange that in the scenes link keeps being a mr bean and another characters asks and answers by themselves, even the master-sword talks more lol.

Like botw where they turned physic gimmicks into a core game mechanic, they turned building stuff out of random junk into a mechanic. Sure you can fiddle around all day if you like, but it feels more like a sandbox than an actual fleshed out game. Having to do another set of "shrines" is inexcusable. Almost every reward or treasure chest is some type of consumable that is not special or unique. There are still only 4 "dungeons" that are laughably easy to get through. There is no reward for the time you spend fiddling around or jumping through the lame story's various hoops.
It's almost like they released botw and then instead of starting another new project, they just decided to continue development on botw. Then towards the end of development, they realized they needed a story and had someone throw one together they could shoe-horn onto the game and all its additional features.

There is a lot to do, but most of it is just the same thing over and over again. This game is all about quantity over quality. Most quests and tasks just feel like busy work; it would probably take me another two hundred hours to try and 100% this game. I would rather have half the amount of stuff to do and instead have significant improvements to the quality of life functions and gameplay mechanics, along with a better story.

There has been almost no improvements to the gameplay and quality of life from BotW. The game has better frame rate and only experienced slowdown minimally. Of course, most areas are pretty devoid of anything and the new large area feels empty and soulless. I hated that after spending what must have been 60+ hours completely exploring the new area I was given a lame participation trophy instead of something useful or interesting.

Sure, they added some new land and areas to explore but it gets very repetitive quickly. They add some new clothing but you get so tired of having to change back and forth that you really start to wonder why there is no way to save a couple clothing sets and quick change between them. And while it is nice finding a unique weapon, knowing it will break is always depressing - and I sure wish the Master Sword was stronger in this game. I can barely kill two Moblins with it before it breaks. The only time it actually felt like the Master Sword is during the final battle where the sword can't break. After that fight, I never want to see items breaking in a Zelda game ever again.

I did enjoy the boss battles but thought there was not enough variation as you end up fighting the same large bosses over and over. I enjoyed the new outfits but hated changing every five seconds. I also disliked how many items you needed to upgrade the clothing. I don’t want to spend hours farming the same thing over and over again.

The game does have some cool battles, events, and scenery, and I really did enjoy the final boss fight, but that doesn't excuse the tediousness, repetition, and the lack of gameplay and quality of life Improvements. I also wish the story was more consistent with the first game.

It is really frustrating how they seem to change parts of the lore around from BotW and almost never reference or have anyone try to connect what is happening in TotK to what happened in the Breath of the Wild. While there are interesting parts to the story, it is difficult to feel the same sense of emotion and connection as in the first game. The story does feel inferior and 90% of the interesting characters and stuff that is here, well they were already here from BotW.

Tears of the Kingdom is not a bad game per-say, it’s ok and fine for a time sink if you have nothing better to do. I really think they should have had the sequel take place outside of Hyrule or have a Dark-World variation like in A Link to the Past to help break up the monotony. Don’t go in thinking you are getting some great improvement over Breath of the Wild. I actually think the game is a downgrade.

    Plataformas: Nintendo Switch
Tráiler de The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

This is thanks to the Ultrahand ability, which enables Link to use Hyrule like his own personal IKEA, effortlessly assembling items found in the overworld together. During my 90-hour playthrough, I created makeshift cars, hot air balloons, airships, hovercrafts, and even rudimentary mechs. The possibilities are almost endless, and while the game offers a handful of example builds, the limitations are only tied to your own creativity.

One of the greatest games of all time. The map is huge, easily more than twice the size of BOTW map, and there are so many things to do I doubt it's even possible to 100% it in less than a year.

I cannot imagine that Nintendo would do such a disgusting thing that disallow players to find funny mechanisms/bugs to make game more happy, this update ruins the efforts from so many players who have much craze on this game and the blueprint gameplay, and I just can not figure out why they do such a decision: even though you think such mechanisms are bugs, they will definetely not affect the players who play this game in normal way while they enhance the experience of builders and extends the ability of blueprint. But they still ban players from explore this game world. So for what? Why they decide to make such a bad update? This game is of score 9, but the update version 1.2 just got -3 points from me.
The last company which do such things in my memory is Billizard, and it just publish series of worst games after that, and I do not want to see Nintendo goes on the same way, so if the employee of Nintendo can see it, just rethink your update, do not be over-confident, and bring the right of exploring in the fancy world back to the players.

Nintendo has fallen far from grace. This game actually looks like a Wii game from 2007, and the faded ugly color scheme is an eyesore. Building mechanics are laughable, everything bad from BotW has returned but worse.

Please bring back the old Zelda games, items, dungeons, fun bosses and eccentric characters are what have made Zelda what it *was* for 35 years.

    Bien jugado, Nintendo.

BotW was 10/10 in my opinion. It brought on something new and fresh. Tears of the Kingdom is reusing the same world, music and most assets from BotW. It feels, as several others have pointed out, like a DLC for BotW. I would have given it a higher score if the game was priced reasonably, but it's not ($70 for a "DLC").

The story is practically non existent, the world is empty, the shrines all seem the same, and the fuse mechanic isn’t very interesting. If this wasn’t a Zelda game, it would be ok at best, but for a Zelda game it’s not good at all. A solid 1/10. Tedious gameplay, horrible graphics, quantity over quality (shrines), basic systems locked behind boring quests and tedious collection chores (e.g. the armor upgrade system), virtually non-existent and cringy story. One of the worst games of the year on par with Gollum.

What a huge disappointment. Obviously, like everybody after playing BOTW, which was really nice (with its own flaws, some big some small), I was pretty excited about the sequel. Instead we got BOTW again with some extra stuff, that was not interesting or fun at all.

First of all the extra maps, skies and depths, are a chore (besides the very first island when you begin the game). The depths look ALL the same and there is almost nothing to do there. Very boring. If you have found 2-3 Yiga clan places in the depths, its like you have seen all of them, cause they are the same. They even give you the same 2 rewards, the yiga scheme and one of these zonai things. Such a lazy job by the devs. The same counts for the mines btw. The same with the skies, almost nothing interesting to do besides moving the crystal to a shrine. Everything super repetitive and gets a chore pretty quick.

If you have discovered 2-3 caves in the main map, it is as if you have seen already all the caves of the game cause they are the same. If you got 5-6 korok seeds, its like you have gotten/seen all of them, cause they are pretty much all the same. The wells? All the same. Very repetitive and extremely boring. The bosses are supereasy, all of them. Horse is not needed cause you can fly everywhere through the towers. The story is super lame and not interesting at all. NPCs are super repetitive, every NPC saying the same stuff all the time. Another thing: Zeldas character is not likable at all (Link.. I am waiting for you... grrrr super cringe and they should change that whiny voice actor as well asap). The main map? Exactly (!!) the same as BOTW with some extra stuff added on top of it in very few places so it doesnt appear at first glance exactly the same, even though it is. There isnt this nice wonder of exploration, you already know everything, its like playing BOTW again, which is a big no-no cause I spent already hours and hours exploring that place. Why should I do it again? I really wanted to stop playing a few times and uninstall the game but I was not giving my hopes up, hoping that something good will eventually happen ..to no avail.

Weapons break again after 5-6 hits the most, so it is not worth doing any missions or whatever hands you a weapon. The new powers are.. well.. average. The ultrahand gets tedious pretty quick. Even if you have the patience to build a flying machine.. it breaks again after half a minute or so in the air lol I mean, the game is laughable. Then you have the sign-guy here and there, having to do again the same and the same.

This game would only be worth playing (maybe..) if there has never been BOTW. But since BOTW exists, just play BOTW, which is obviously a much better game (in case you have never played any of these 2 games). The enemies? The same as BOTW, minus the guardians, plus a couple of new ones in the skies (these robots) and these gloom hands that grab you. I dont understand how Nintendo had the nerve to release such a piece of sh.. honestly. They should be ashamed of themselves and, like many said, sell it as a BOTW DLC for 20-30$ the most. Such a super lazy job. I couldnt wait to finish it to not have to touch it again. Ignore all these 10s you see, these are fanatic fanboys under the age of 18 that would give it a 10 regardless of its content, without even having ever played it. What a huge disappointment and rip-off by Nintendo. Six years for that, Nintendo? right..

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
