Theyre not interesting or replayable anymore. The story was not that good, Ganondorf was a complete waste, and has only the memories story and patiently dont do anything in the whole game but wait for Link to come kill him. Thes sky islands are just hard to reach (without cheating with infinite batteries) but plain except forthe ones on the main story, enemies are as repetitive as BOW an the worst thing ever the weapons still break even faster than before, who thought of that? The undergropunds is mere distraction, there is nothing there worth to go. The map is the same and disappointing to see after 6 years of 'work' and the temples were a huge disappointment, really the divine beasts without the controls. But equally boring and one more than before. The final boss disappointing, only flurry rush. Cant say anything that was positive and after finishing the game I didnt chnage my mind. Maybe a 5 if lucky, but sad to experience a DCL that pretended to be very different. Expand

You ends up bouncing around 3 or more different levels, and to be honest the lowest one is just ugly - yea the phasma comes from underground but when you play it seems they just added it because Elden Ring got one, no other reason up to the end.
What happens is that the world is so uninteresting and the exploration so interrupted that I would continue playing again the first game for the 2nd time - as I was doing - then going on with this.
Everything is an alternative of what was great, powers included. The only exception is "ascension", but I really would like bombs, glacius and the other set.
The attempt of copyrighting physics and basic actions should deserve a 0 but it would not respect the game quality.
Not Diablo 4 delusion level, but to me it is still a delusion

That isn't to say that Tears doesn't do anything new -- it does -- but the fuse mechanic is a real *mileage may vary* addition to the game. Sometimes fusing stuff feels incredibly compelling and enjoyable, while at other times it's a real hindrance and annoyance. Half the time there are simpler solutions than spending 5-10 minutes constructing some sort of contraption, and I found myself skipping fuse activities altogether. A generation brought up on Minecraft will likely find a lot to love about this new facet of the game, but on balance it left me cold. The rest of the game is just...Breath of the Wild all over again. Same map (with some alterations), same combat mechanics, same...everything. Granted, being rocketed into the sky was never not a thrill, but I'm sad they didn't spend any of the 6-year interval between this and Breath updating anything. Riding a horse, for example, is still a chore, with unresponsive controls -- something that could have very easily been updated for this outing. I really really wanted to love this game, and there were certainly moments where the old thrill came back. Unfortunately, in the end, there just weren't enough of those moments to maintain my interest. Expand

The new system makes the game more like a building game, not a RPG game. The balance between stories, battles and puzzles was better in the past. I cannot really understand why would they do that in the new title.

Tears has the distinct advantage of being built on top of a title already considered to be one of the greatest gaming triumphs of the modern era, to this end there wasn't anything that could potentially go wrong, with every addition only capable of being an improvement.

The map has been greatly expanded in multiple dimensions - the surface now connects to both a subsurface and underworld via a hundred cave and well networks; some of these are small, others are massive and cavernous, each is unique. A vast, dark mirror world is accessible from the surface via chasms hundreds of metres deep, serving as a giant combat and survival arena across the entire stretch of Hyrule. Above the surface are multiple tiers of floating islands, hosting their own unique combat and exploration scenarios, resources and building materials, and across all these tiers of the map are a dozen dungeons and mini-dungeons, the journeys to each are among the most unforgettable experiences of the entire game. Returning towns and settlements have been so greatly reformed that they're barely recognisable; from ruined Kakariko and fashion-crazed Hateno to the first-stage rebuilding of Castle Town and the Gerudo's entire new secondary settlement.

There are now around 250 quests to complete, over 3x as many as its predecessor, reflecting how much the content density and population of this in-game world has increased, with about 30 new enemy

The new ability mechanics are so much fun, Ultrahand makes it possible to play around with just about every asset, being able to combine all kinds of objects to build as ridiculous or as functional within the 21-item limit as your imagination allows, this ability paired up with the wide variety of Zonai components allows you to cover all bases from constructing giant mechs, mobile fortresses and large trap setups to tanks, cruise ships and aerial bombers for a healthy dose of vehicular mayhem. Fuse makes it possible to attach any item or asset to any weapon of choice, providing hundreds of options with unique power boosts and functionality, in addition to being able to attach any item from your entire inventory to arrowheads with numerous effects ranging from a simple damage boost to blinding or confusing your enemies, then freezing, electrocuting and burning them to a crisp in a massive fireball. Ascend and Rewind open up the world further by making it possible to phase through solid structures above you or to catch a ride on any vertical or laterally moving object by reversing its motion by approximately 30 seconds, additionally allowing you to take out enemies with their own thrown projectiles.

The visuals have noticeably improved and the world is much more gorgeous to look at, with the landscape defined by greater saturated blues, greens, yellows and oranges, the sound design has improved considerably too, with the greatest sensory experience of this world coming from the ambience channelled through a good set of headphones.

There are numerous quality of life improvements found within Tears stemming from grievances previously raised; meals are now saved and stored as recipes which can be quickly accessed from a recipe menu, the map has coordinates and can now be accessed from an ability wheel so your adventure window may stay open on another tab, items can be sorted, thrown or dropped without accessing the main menu while you will be given the option to drop an item if you open a chest with a full weapon inventory. Additionally, you can look over dialogue you may have missed thanks to a chat log window, loading screens pass by much faster the Switch overclocks when on these screens, and for my personal favourites - it's now possible to ride the dragons across the map rather than get taken out by their elemental attacks and blasted away, and Link has his very own fully customisable home where you can store all your rare collectibles, cook, sleep, pray and chill to your heart's content.

The overall structure of the game is the same as its predecessor, in turn the same as pretty much all their predecessors; travel through the regions, completing dungeons as you do so to reverse or preventing region-destroying threats, defeat a regional boss, then come for Ganondorf in order to save your girl.

Overall Tears does what was probably thought impossible - it recaptures the magic of Breath of the Wild all over again and surpasses it, preserving the integrity of that returning world while reforming it enough to succeed as its own reinterpretation, and providing a wholesome adventure through a beautifully designed sci-fi/fantasy setting that you can lose yourself for hours at a time in, complemented by a wonderful roster of characters representing numerous distinct peoples and cultures throughout human history. Like Breath of the Wild before, it's truly a one-of-a-kind experience.

GOTY aside, this game is honestly one of the best video games of all time. Leading up to its release, I didn't think it was going to be as good as Botw. After playing Totk for 140 hours, i can confidently say that it absolutely blew my expectations. I initially gave this game a ten, and while I still think it is an excellent game, the more I have played, the more evident its shortcomings have become.

I wish the sky islands had more variety to them rather than the same crystal puzzles repeated over and over--it seems in retrospect like a missed opportunity not to include more diverse content. The same goes for the many caves and wells around Hyrule--a very cool concept, but not as interesting in practice as it could have been.

While the world map itself is well remixed, the unavoidable consequence of using the same world map is that the sense of exploration and discovery is diminished compared to Breath of the Wild. I think that feeling of mystery and discovery was a big part of the appeal and enjoyment of Breath of the Wild; technically speaking, Tears of the Kingdom builds on and refines nearly everything from BotW, and may be the superior game, but those improvements may not come across as significant as they really are since TotK lacks the same sense of newness that BotW did.

Those critiques aside, this is a fantastic game, and if I could give it an 8.5, I would.

I may disagree with giving this game a perfect score, but that's not radically outside the margin of a reasonable score. What is unreasonable is the clear review-bombing campaign to pull TotK's score down.

Anybody ranking this game lower than a '5' is likely not reviewing in good faith, and anybody ranking this game as a '1' or '0' is trolling. The average as of this writing is 8.2, and that is artificially low--it really should be mid-range 8s.

Not that it isn't amazing because it is and how much they added is honestly crazy, I think they could have added more difficult bosses (Other than Queen Gibdo) maybe some more temples and the option to learn how to teleport as a Yiga member after you learn the earthwake technique. Over all it's a phenomenal game and If I could I would rate it a 9.5 but I can't so I have to go for a 10 Expand

Up to try any genre of games and sometimes I find something new that I didn't think I'd like. I own a little bit of everything; PC (built by me), Xbox, Playstation, and a Switch. I prefer Playstation due to their focus on narrative games. For scoring, I’ll be using the Gameinformer review scale and of course influenced by my personal opinions.

    (7) Average.
The game’s features may work, but are nothing that even casual players haven’t seen before. A decent game from beginning to end.

It feels like I'm playing the god mode version of Breath of the Wild. They give a bunch of OP abilities at the start of the game that lets you cheese through the game. I would avoid the abilities to get a better experience. I loved the original but this one for some reason is not giving me the same feeling. Not sure why since everything is similar to the original. Maybe it's exactly that, too familiar, a place I feel like I already explored.

I'll update the review once I've beat it. Maybe it'll get better.

Really disappointed. There are few moments where the game feels fresh: the tutorial sky island, first time in the depths, first temple. The main thing about botw that I found interesting was the exploration, but that aspect is almost entirely absent from this game, as you know the map already, which is only slightly different.
Another gripe that I have with the game is that they added a lot of quests, which all feel like chores, e.g. "go talk to this guy, go back, go back to the guy again" or "collect ten frogs". The absence of such quests is what made me like botw, but this game feels much more like a 2010's ubisoft title.
    Everything is a chore.

Its fun and great its just... too similar to breath of the wild, minus the new mechanics. I am talking specifically about the music, world, storytelling, art style ect, and especially the story, characters, and dungeons, and the foundation elements of gameplay like shrines koroks points of interest monsters, they differ remarkably little from the first game, REMARKABLY little. As in, they are exactly the same as the first game. When I was growing up new zelda games were extremely different from one another, they were avenues for creativity. The new gameplay features are extremely clever and awesome and based on those alone you cannot say this is anything less than a 10/10 experience... but why have they used the same music, exact same worldmap, same storyline, same method of story delivery, and same crappy dungeons. Why have they kept the same gameplay loop and the same empty feel of the world, the same mechanic for everything in the game. It just seems incredibly lazy or shortsighted for a team that is so obviously immensly talanted at game design. They remembered to design the game, but they forgot that games are art and need to be unique. This is Breath of the wild 2, but most of the game is just Breath of the wild still, I would say that a large part of what you will be doing in the game is the same old gameplay loop, which for an open world game that is as large as this, gets old pretty fast the second time around... on the same map... with the same music... and the same boiler plate story with cheesy voice acting and terrible story delivery. If the game hadnt settled on the same music, art, gameplay and story by simply adding new things on top of another game that has already existed for years it would have had a far greater impact, it would be a 10 without question, but this is not a new game, it is new stuff addition for Breath of the wild, so for that it is getting a slightly dissapointing 7. Its lazy, really it is. They have an immense wealth of incredible games to draw on for inspiration, they are standing on the shoulders of giants, but from a creative standpoint they have just chosen to put a new hat and trousers on breath of the wild. For first timers it must be incredible, but I am not a first timer so: 7
    - good game, great new mechanics, fun, original
    - unoriginal, minimal changes, simplistic for anyone who isnt new

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, pra quem não sabe inglês Lágrimas do Reino, pros intimos, choro dos haters, e pros mais antigos, Breath of the Wild 2.

My only issues with the game? Minor nitpicks, like Wolf Link amiibo not giving him anymore (sad, but that's not dependent on the game) and the need to still get memories, but I don't think they are 'bad' or lowering, it made sense still so I can't hold it fully against the game, since it made sense within context of the game.

My hope, even if it introduces some linearity again, is a more direct story next time, cause I wanna feel more involved than passive, I get that can be a pain for some, but I enjoy that story narratively driving me further (not like it stops you from B-Lining the final boss or ignoring it all, I just want more 'in the moment' story with Links involvement but thats a desire for the future, not a hindrance for TotK)

Fantastic sequel, cannot wait to see what Zelda Team does next.

It’s a rare thing for a game to be so enjoyable in and of itself with so little motivation given of rewards for time spent. Is this game perfect? In all the ways that matter, yes.

The story is emotional and impactful - so long as it’s viewed in the intended order. It is regrettable that Nintendo hasn’t quite figured out how to expand their TRUE open world formula into one that can deliver the story in a satisfying way for every player, even the ones intent on sequence breaking. But I struggle to think of any game developer that has aspired for this level of freedom, pulled it off, and still delivered an experience as fun and impactful. Even Rockstar’s RDR2’s gentle guidance through the stellar highs and emotional lows feel like railroad tracks compared to Tears of the Kingdom. I can’t help but wonder if RDR2 would be rated as highly if Rockstar allowed Arthur Morgan to sequence break his own destiny.

Three months after its release, and the holes in Tears of the Kingdom are starting to show more prevalently - but they are entirely conceptual. While this may feel dismissive, I find complaints about Tears of the Kingdom sound as useful or valid as someone with a burnt tongue complaining about the flavor of a 4 star Michelin meal saying “well this duck confit doesn’t hold a candle to the Easy Mac my mother used to make.”

While we can list all the ways we each individually might prefer to engage with dungeons, or discuss our headcannons that could make the lore more cohesive, or paint elaborate hypotheticals about which art style Nintendo aught to explore next time… none of these opinions really change the fact that Tears of the Kingdom plays like no other game in existence.

It’s my favorite game. A flawed perfect 10 if there ever was one.

Tears of the Kingdom, however, feels as if it's nothing more than an expansion we'd have previously gotten with other titles. 2 new half zones added, one above and one below and a new gimmick to play

Tears of the Kingdom, however, feels as if it's nothing more than an expansion we'd have previously gotten with other titles. 2 new half zones added, one above and one below and a new gimmick to play around with, while fun, doesn't warrant a full price. Especially on hardware that can barely support the title.

Is it fun? Yeah. Is it worth it for the price? Most definitely not.

Tears of the Kingdom is a masterpiece. It is a must-play for fans of the series, and it is sure to please newcomers as well. If you are looking for an epic open-world adventure game with a great story, challenging dungeons, and fluid combat, then Tears of the Kingdom is the game for you.

As a snail myself, this game was very snail-accesible and definetely one of the games of all time. Very good. Fun to play. Love the part were you hit guys with a mop tied to a stick. Mop is the best weapon in the game. Very janitor friendly. Good.

Its a good game. Not best, not great, just good. Better than BotW, but its like a DLC addon with a new story, with enhanced and reimagined gameplay from BotW.
BotW was a very repetitive game with critical issues thats untolded by fanatics and paid critics... A good game because several innovation elements, but a very repetitive game with repetitive dungeons and enemies... ToTk is a bit

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don’t even know how someone could give anything below 9. The only negative I could think of is that some of the temples were a little meh (which doesn’t even bother me).
    Apart from that:
-A lot of guys are complaining that the map was the same and the exploration didn’t feel as good as BotW the first time. Ok, I’ll say that it didn’t feel like BotW but nothing ever will. That said, I still liked exploring. While the biomes are still the same ones, I liked seeing the tweaks and changes made to the map. Plus the Sky Islands, the caves and The Depths were a blast to explore because they really made me use the new vehicles, they really made me use my creativity and use the new amazing abilities.
-Some guys are complaining that TotK has the same negatives as BotW. The only negative that I found about BotW is that the exploration became boring after a lot of hours. And this isn’t a problem anymore because I can create whatever I want to explore. I even liked recycling a simple hoverbike over and over without getting bored.
I’m starting to think that those who didn’t like the game don’t know what creativity is and therefore the game just wasn’t meant for them.
-The new fusing ability is one of the best things I have ever used in any game. It allowed me to create new weapons that didn’t previously exist: a whip, a cannon on a shield, a flamethrower on a shield, a spring on a shield, a beam emitter spear and much more.

In the end I’m sure that those who didn’t enjoy the game never really played it. I’m sure that they were too busy playing it the same way they played BotW. I’m sure they never experimented and therefore never had fun. I’m sure that they were busy playing it as if it wasn’t an open world game. The best thing in this game is messing around, experimenting, creating your own mechs, your own battle drones, finding out new things that you can make with the fusing ability, finding out things about the new throwable items that act as flashbangs, smoke grenades and others and overall, rather than exploring the map, exploring the game itself.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I knocked off a couple points because the game Auto updated on me despite constantly canceling the download. I was holding back on doing the update because Nintendo made rupees super scarce in this game and duping glitches offset that and make the game more fun for my play style. Any fun that I've derived out of this game comes from it being a carbon copy of Breath of the Wild. I dislike the new building mechanics and feel like the fusion mechanic stresses the already strained inventory system to the point of it being unfun. Overall the game just feels clunky and unfinished. Early on you'll probably build the best vehicle in the game which is a basic hoverbike, there's no reason to make any modifications after you get the perfect one because any added items will either make you slower or drain your battery faster and any modifications will increase the zonite ore you need to build it. This vehicle basically breaks the game allowing you to sidestep any dungeon puzzles or inconvenience. They didn't want to spend extra development time to make exit routes out of the many caves so they just added ascend so they didn't have to worry about it. They reversed the topography and lowered the brightness and boom you have the depths. All of the sky islands just sit there in the sky static. It's a very lazy product. There's a scene right after you get Auto-build where Master kohga says "you stole it, I wanted that ability," THEN HE USES AUTOBUILD IN THE BOSS FIGHT

The temples are just glorified shrines that are pretty much the same as the Divine beasts: find and activate terminals then return to the boss fight area. A lot of the time you'll end up reaching the temple and terminals before the sage does and so you'll have to backtrack to find an arbitrary cutscene event before they'll join your party and help you.

The shrines aren't as memorable as the ways that you have to cheese a lot of the puzzles to get them to work properly. Many times I've had to shoot a pressure switch with a bomb arrow because I couldn't get the ball to bounce in the right way. Many people say that the game should be commended because it lets you solve puzzles in multiple ways but to me that just says poor game design because the intended way to solve the puzzle is usually either obtuse or just difficult because of the clunky controls. The multiple ways of solving a puzzle pretty much comes down to: do you spend half an hour combing a shrine for a stepping stool to reach a shrine chest or do you just use a bomb or rocket shield? Gone are the gyro shrines and the tests of strength and they were replaced by... well they kind of forgot to add a third of the shrines because they're all blessing shrines, which for the most part is fine because a lot of those shrines getting to the shrine is the challenge in puzzle, it just feels like maybe if you have more than a quarter of your shrines just be gimmes you either need less shrines or perhaps give the light orbs out in a different way. Shrine's kind of all fall into the same category where it's just: build the thing, at least in botw when you needed a different shika rune the whole shrine had a different feel to it, before you had cryo-puzzles, stasis puzzles, magnesis puzzles, and bomb puzzles, now they're all just building puzzles. Ascend and rewind just feel like debug mode abilities. We never see Rauru coming up through the floor so it's really weird to consider that a zonai ability. It feels like Nintendo was trying to debug the game and realized how crappy and frustrating their game was so they left some debug tools in to make the game playable. That's probably why some of the rewind shrines are clever and well put together: because they were added late in the production. Also why the game doesn't let you leave the great sky Island until you get all the abilities: because the game is UNPLAYABLE without ascend, you'll fall into a well or a hole or a cave and WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CLIMB OUT unless you use ascend. When your game's playability is dependent on a single debug ability maybe thats bad game design? IDK it annoyed the heck out of me.

I was excited to pick the game up because I wanted to see what they did with the Ganondorf character and it was hugely disappointed when he's only in four cutscenes and the final boss fight. HUGE missed potential, the game didn't give him any clear motivations, he's just being evil for the sake of being evil AGAIN. It's also never really addressed how the Gerudo way of life has been changed and it just feels like Nintendo really drop the ball on world building.

Basically, you're fine playing this game if you're just expecting BOTW 2. I'm mostly giving this game a low score because I feel that the game was MASSIVELY overhyped with people saying that the game has endless content. After I'd been playing the game for a month I already had the game half finished, the game is FAR from endless.

Technological masterpiece. Despite being on such limiting hardware as the Switch, the game is somehow even more optimized than BotW. Amazing story. I was initially worried that I wouldn't find the game as enjoyable since I had already explored everything in BotW, but all of that quickly went away after the first hour of playing. The good thing is that, thanks to the limited possibilities, the creators couldn't go crazy and swing for hundreds of game miles. Instead, they created what could be called Elden Ring in a travel pack. [Issue#328]

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
