Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was ultimately a nostalgic yet surprisingly fresh experience that for the most part holds up well on Switch. The films covered in previous games feature entirely new takes, while certainly throwing in some references to those classic titles. My personal experience, unfortunately, was marred with a significant progress blocking bug. In the isolation of this pre-launch period it is impossible for me to know how widespread this issue will be. Hopefully, it will be patched in the near future, especially if it’s not exclusive to one platform. All I can say for now is that while I thoroughly enjoyed Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, I do have to recommend a little caution.

All in all, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has sadly been a frustrating experience for me. World design and presentation, with John William's classic score and the beautiful graphics, are top notch, but the gameplay and quest design got redundant only after few hours.

In its quest to be the "definitive" LEGO Star Wars game, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga tries to do too much and suffers as a result. While the game offers players a variety of different game modes and level types, there's nothing that it truly excels in.

Over-hyped, terrible performance even though it is running at low resolution with basic, ps3 level graphics. Games like Zelda and Mario kart 8Over-hyped, terrible performance even though it is running at low resolution with basic, ps3 level graphics. Games like Zelda and Mario kart 8 deluxe run way better than this does and this is a Lego game! The gameplay is boring and repetitive, puzzles do not give a satisfactory feeling when solved. Fun game but not as strong as previous Lego installments. Falls victim to the "open world" industry standard. Not worth the 60 dollar priceFun game but not as strong as previous Lego installments. Falls victim to the "open world" industry standard. Not worth the 60 dollar price tag.
    Pros:
-Tight and fun gunplay/Light Saber controls
-Writing and visual gags are very funny
-Graphics can be gorgeous at times
-Massive open world (if you are into that)
    -INSANE amount of characters
    Cons:
    -No character customization
-Actual levels are short and boring
-The open world feels very empty
-Character upgrades are superficial and don't really matter much
-Cutscenes are waaaay too long and too numerous
-UI is janky, laggy, and overwhelming

    TL;DR:
Just play complete Saga. The entire time I felt like I was just walking from cutscene to cutscene
