Kamiko is an accessible and well-designed experience that will put its players frantically trying new tactics in order to finish the game as quickly as possible. This might not sound very groundbreaking but Kamiko certainly provides incentives to its players to try to complete it in a shorter time and its challenging nature means that those who pick it up will have something they can spend some fun hours with.

Kamiko sets up to be a nice little Legend of Zelda clone with great gameplay. Does it capture the same magic Zelda did, though? Not really. The game lacks the same charm and sophistication these games had, and falls short in the length department. But still, it's a good game with fun gameplay that you can play on the go and with a price tag that low I can recommend it to fans of the genre.

Kamiko aims for Zelda-lite but falls way too short of the mark due to dull design, simple puzzles, and levels which lack substance.

There are small glimpses that Kamiko could’ve been something more. I liked the rapid gameplay flow it’s going for. Stages are quick to get through and that works for me on the Switch. I just wish there was some variety to them between each of the characters though. For example, a stage could’ve had a new layout and objects in place that only the archer can hit. There’s no harm giving Kamiko a try because of its low price point, but there are much better alternatives.

Nice game, but very short. Like this reviews... To end Kamiko you need an 1-2 hours of play.
I hope this game will be extended in the future.

With an eye-catching art style and superb soundtrack, it was instant purchase. The gameplay consists of defeating enemies in each level so generate enough SP to successfully light up all Torii Gates. This is not a simple as it seems because there are many puzzles you must solve before getting access to your goal. The combat system is simple but serviceable, with hack and slash mechanics that give a sense of kinetic energy seen in few games. There are 3 different characters to choose from, each with different combat styles. This gives some extra value to the short run time on this game (a few hours) and even includes a speed run timer to add even greater replayability. This short session, speed running approach fits right at home on the Switch as it is a great system daily commuters. The price is only $4.99 in the US, so this eShop exclusive is worth checking out. The puzzles are nice and is a throwback to old fashioned Zelda-style game-play. There are three characters with different play-styles but with only four levels- I found the enjoyment running out quickly. I completed it with the sword girl and only tried out the other two characters. I will go back and finish it with those two one day but it is just not my cup of tea.

That being said, I would recommend you buy it if you enjoy this style of game ( it looks excellent by the way) as there is plenty potential for speed-running and plenty of fun to be had for a very low price.
